--------------
What ancient people used lions for hunting?
During the reign of Kublai Khan, the Chinese trained lions
to pursue and attack big animals like bulls. One wonders
how you train them to let you take their prey.
Who is Cupid and why is he associated with
Valentine's day?
Cupid is the son of Venus, Roman goddess of love. His
Greek name is Eros (Mom's Greek name is Aphrodite).
Eros himself fell in love when he accidentally pierced
himself with one of his own arrows. The object of his
affection, the princess Psyche, was so beautiful that
Aphrodite was jealous and sent her son to make Psyche
fall in love with a hideous, or at least a common, man.
Aphrodite did everything possible to make the
Eros-Psyche love match fail, but eventually the two
married.
Did the goddess of love ever fall in love?
Sort of. Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love, had a long
affair with Ares, god of war. (Interesting choice, huh?)
She was not able to marry Ares because she was forced
by Zeus, king of the gods, to marry Hephaestos, a lame
god. The goal was to get her married off quickly before
her beauty caused fighting to break out among the many
eligible deities who desired her.

Tips And Tidits
Here is a news story from Wired News ...
Americans spent considerably more of their holiday
shopping budgets online this year, according to
preliminary reports from web merchants and internet
traffic measurement firms.
In the first six weeks of the holiday season, which
spans November and December, shoppers spent
an estimated $16.7 billion online, according to a
report by Goldman Sachs, Nielsen/NetRatings and
Harris Interactive. Overall spending was up
28 percent from a year ago, based on survey data.
"You're seeing spending increase within each gift
category as people become more comfortable with
online shopping," said Heather Dougherty, senior
analyst with NetRatings, who attributed some of the
rise in spending to greater broadband penetration
among internet users at home. Merchants also
succeeded in drawing former customers to their
websites through e-mail promotions, she said.
While sales for all major gift categories were up this
year, jewelry and luxury goods showed particularly
strong increases. NetRatings listed music as the
top-selling gift category, followed by videos, jewelry,
books, toys and video games.
Internet merchants may be on track to rake in
significantly higher sales this holiday season, but
forecasts for traditional retailers are more muted.
The National Retail Federation projects that holiday
sales, the vast majority of which take place offline,
will increase 4.5 percent this year to $220 billion.
"The season is probably a disappointment for
retailers in general, but it will be very healthy for
internet commerce," predicted Patrick Byrne, CEO
of the discount retail site Overstock.com. Byrne
said sales at Overstock are on track to exceed
expectations, fueled by strong demand for clothes,
books, watches and digital cameras.
Late shoppers, Byrne said, also appeared more
comfortable buying online this year. Overstock, for
example, had its busiest day on Dec. 16, later
than in past years.
In most cases, online retailers were adequately
prepared to handle the surge in end-of-the-year
traffic, said Roopak Patel, internet analyst at
Keynote Systems, which tracks website performance.
There were a few exceptions, however, such as
the Monday after Thanksgiving. That day, the
success rate for completion of online purchases
was 20 percent below the norm, according to
Keynote. A spike in traffic hobbled sites' abilities
to keep pace.
"There's often a lot of pent up traffic that's waiting to
get online over the weekend to take advantage of
high speed connections at work," Patel said.
Amazon.com also reported a glitch on Dec. 6. For
about five hours, visitors to the site experienced
unusual delays in viewing the site or were unable
to access it at all.
However, Patel found the success rate for internet
purchases, once initiated, was between 97 and
98 percent, about the same as the year before.
Online merchants ought to benefit this year from a
slightly longer-than-average shopping season, said
Patti Freeman Evans, an analyst at JupiterResearch.
With Christmas falling on a Saturday, procrastinators
could still place last-minute orders online this week,
with many retailers guaranteeing that gifts would
arrive by Dec. 25.
While shoppers still directed most of their dollars to
the usual favorites, like books, CDs, videos and
electronics, Jupiter found buyers this year more willing
to purchase high-end goods over the internet.
The fact that internet shoppers tend to have a higher
incomes, on average, than the general population may
explain some of their increased willingness to patronize
sites of luxury goods sellers like Nieman Marcus or
Coach, Freeman Evans said.
Alternately, consumers may be splurging on small
items from prestigious merchants because they can't
afford the truly high-end stuff.
"There's this notion of affordable luxury," Freeman Evans
said. "I might not be able to buy the car or the house I
was hoping for, but I can buy the Burberry scarf."

Mercury / Amalgam Dental Fillings
PART 7 of 8
Mercury Detoxification
I always recommend a mercury detoxification program be
considered by anyone who has or has had mercury amalgam
fillings and also has any symptoms or diseases
related to chronic mercury poisoning. The subject of
detoxification is a big one and there isnt space to
explore and explain every aspect of the relationship
between mercury amalgam fillings and chronic mercury
poisoning in this article. But Your Complete Guide to
Mercury Detoxification certainly will provide the
information anyone will need to understand and initiate
such a program.
While there are no guarantees that safely removing
mercury amalgam fillings and detoxifying mercury
from the body will give the desired results, I can say
that your body will be much better off and better able
to deal with any existing health issue (including
Menieres) . . . as long as it no longer has to deal
with the extraordinarily harmful effects mercury. To
date, no test for mercury is available that will tell
you exactly how much of it is in the body, or where it
is, or its specific affect on one's health. But we do
know that even one atom of mercury is harmful and you
shouldn't be in the same room with it, let alone have
it in your teeth and body. That realization should be
enough to motivate anyone, with any disease, to have
these fillings removed, regardless if they are now
experiencing symptoms related to mercury poisoning or
not. If you have these fillings but have not yet
experienced related symptoms it doesnt mean you wont
in the future. Remember, a certain amount of mercury
must accumulate in the body before symptoms appear, but
its only a matter of time.
The fact is that no one will ever know the specific
effects mercury has on any health condition until it is
removed; not just from the teeth but from the body. It
is also true that any improvement in health issues
related to chronic mercury poisoning will be unlikely;
as long as mercury is still present in the body. Of
course, on the positive side, once the mercury has been
reduced or eliminated the body will have a chance to
repair the damage done by it. Studies have shown that
when the fillings have been removed and the body is
able to eliminate mercury a high percentage of mercury
related symptoms improve. The results of some of these
studies can be found at mercuryfreenow.com.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Both Sharon and Tim were glad they were at
Eloise's. As they walked to the beach they were
both catching their breath. They had just
retreated from a breathless bout of passion from
which they nearly had gone all the way.
Sharon now understood why they didn't want to
go the distance, but it was hard.
"I'm glad we didn't have sex. I don't know
what got into me but I can't keep my hands off
you."
"That's okay, Tim. I know what's going on. I
know we should wait and will be the happier for it
but I want you too. I always want to feel you
close, and touch you. What are we going to do to
protect ourselves from ourselves? You can't
protect yourself from you, nor me from me and we
sure can't count on each other to stop. We should
have some kind of a plan."
"I'm glad you understand. I want you now, but
I really think anybody can have sex, but it takes
strong people to control their animal urges in
favor of the right time and place. I think we
should keep ourselves in public as much as we can.
That should help us out."
"Sounds good, but you better believe I'm going
to haul you away to some place private once in a
while." Sharon laughed.
They both chuckled. They were now at the top
of the knoll that broke from jungle into river
side and beach area. They could see the kids in
their game of ball. Tim recognized some of them.
"Welcome you two. It's good to see you again."
The voice came from behind them and surprised
them. It was Boolanga.
"If you're looking for your sister Tim, she's
over there with your parents." Boolanga pointed to
the left where Tim saw his folks and sister
sitting on the grass at the top of the hill, all
of them resting their feet in the hot sands of the
beach.
Sam and Alewka Henry saw their son coming
toward them while holding hands with Sharon
Smithson. Sam looked at Alewka and they both knew
the couple were in love. They knew this would be
their future daughter-in-law.
Eloise and Mazunta knew too. They had been
sitting with her folks on the beach just enjoying
the day and when they looked up and saw Tim with
Sharon, they knew.
Lovers broadcast who and what is happening. It
is shown in the aura all of us have. We
communicate by aura much more than people know or
consider. And when you live by higher law that
aura reaches out much further than most. But if
you live by higher law you are also much more
sensitive to it than most. So Tim and Sharon
didn't have a chance to say what was going on.
Everyone knew as they passed by.
Even those who didn't live by higher law knew.
The ball game stopped as Tim and Sharon walked by
and some of the older kids were speaking to the
younger ones behind held up hands, and then
laughing.
Sam and Alewka hugged Tim and then hugged
Sharon. Each of them whispered in Sharon's ear,
"Welcome" because they also knew Sharon had
crossed the veil.
Eloise and Mazunta also kissed and hugged them
both. It was always a wonder and a joy welcoming a
brother or sister into higher law.
Boolanga had walked with them, behind, and
when all the greetings were over he, too, hugged
and kissed Sharon, welcoming her into Mastership.
Sharon was quite bewildered with all the
attention. She was not used to it and was not yet
long enough into higher law that she was sure of
it. But these people seemed sure of it. It built
her confidence.
"I see what you two have been up to." Mazunta
gave them each a wink.
"Oh! We've just been talking and talking."
"Yeah! I know! That's what your sister and I
did for days, weeks, months before we wed. I know
all about it." Mazunta laughed and so did all
present.
They were teasing Tim and Sharon over their
new condition, but it was friendly and loving. It
helped bring Sharon into the group, and she was
treated as a full equal. This acceptance was
wonderful and not before experienced by Sharon. It
really made her want to be a part of this group.
All her old fears were washed away and the
thoughts of leaving the group of kids she
associated with in Pinehill never even again
crossed her mind.
So the news was out. Tim and Sharon didn't
need to say a thing. They were found out.
Mazunta excused himself and left with
Boolanga to do something. "I'll be right back."

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
"I have learned from experience that the greater part of our

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
A travel agent looked up from his desk to see an older
lady and an older gentleman peering in the shop window at
the posters showing the glamorous destinations around the world.
The agent had had a good week and the dejected couple
looking in the window gave him a rare feeling of generosity.
He called them into his shop and said, "I know that on
your pension you could never hope to have a holiday, so I
am sending you off to a fabulous resort at my expense, and
I won't take no for an answer."
He took them inside and asked his secretary to write two
flight tickets and book a room in a five star hotel. They,
as can be expected, gladly accepted, and were on their
way.
About a month later the little lady came in to his shop.
"And how did you like your holiday?" he asked eagerly.
"The flight was exciting and the room was lovely," she
said. "I've come to thank you. But, one thing puzzled me.
Who was that old guy I had to share the room with?"
