ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -

Do sailors consider an albatross lucky or unlucky?

Unlucky. The albatross was believed to harbor the soul
of a dead sailor. To see one was an omen of bad weather,
as if the dead sailor were warning the live ones. To kill an
albatross was a terribly unlucky event.

Is it safe to eat cookie dough?

It's actually NOT a good idea to eat raw cookie dough
when you're baking, at least not if the recipe calls for
raw eggs. Raw eggs can harbor salmonella, a bacteria
that can cause a potentially lethal illness. Baking kills the
bacteria, so cooked cookies are safe.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
-----------------

All Fears Are Imagined

My husband, Cal, grew increasingly displeased as our
teenage daughter and her boyfriend studied in her room
late one evening. Finally losing patience shortly after
midnight, he knocked sharply on her door. Her boyfriend
immediately opened it and asked if something was wrong.

"I have to ask you to move your car," Cal told him.

"Oh, sure. Is it in someone's way?"

"No," Cal replied, "it's at the wrong address."

I've been there, and when you are a parent in this condition
the feelings of Dad are perfectly normal, so think not I am
against him. However, I want to point out something - - - his
fears come from his imagination.

That's right and that is where all fear comes from. You see
there is nothing wrong with a boy and a girl being in a room
alone together. What happened was the father was, in his
imagination, thinking they were doing something other than
what they said they were. It proved out they were not but that
is not what the father feared.

Being a parent I know that the pull of emotions and the sex
drive in kids is very strong. I've been there too. So I know
it is a natural worry.

Yet it is exactly this same process that goes on whenever
we fear anything. Most of the time it is not what is actually
happening that is fearful but what we think about it.

That means our fears can come under our own control and
therefore need not cause us to make wrong judgments, take
wrong actions, or say wrong things.

Think on that for a minute. How much better would your life
be if you had that kind of control over your thinking that you
cut out half of the fears you have in your life?

If there is one characteristic that dominates the actions
of people in this world it is fear. We fear the boss, we fear
we might lose what we have if we don't act exactly right.
Even some of our religion is practiced on the basis of fear
that we won't go to heaven if we don't go to church. Fear
exists in all people everyday and it keeps most from being
who they could really be.

Knowing this can now give you the power to take
control of your life rather than being led around by
your fears. Remember ...

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

What Shall I Drink?

One of the challenges we face is what and how much
drink and I am not speaking of any alcoholic fluids here.
We all preach water, water, water, but it, too, has its
detractions. This confusion has us throwing our hands
up and doing things we KNOW to be less than helpful,
but we really don't KNOW what to do!

So let's discuss water first. It should be clean and not
smelly or you won't drink it. However, there is much
to water that you can't see or know about. I will write
another article outlying this a bit more, but know water
has its own set of problems and what you see is NOT
necessarily what you get.

Tea is lovely if you like it, but its makeup is naturally
chemical. Be very careful of the herbals. Many of those
are the bases of drugs, so if you don't know what you
are drinking, find out. Another misconception is that
these have been around for thousands if years and
are "safe". Maybe one or two cups are, but many
people in their desire to drink something safe, will
drink a lot of this…again, maybe not such a good idea.
Dizziness, fainting, and heart palpitations are common
side affects. Do some research of your own.

The same goes for coffee.

Now we hear dark chocolate has health supporting
qualities, which makes hot chocolate very attractive
as an alternative. It's very confusing, isn't it?

Personally I drink hot water, some (black) tea, some
hot chocolate, and coffee when we make it, but mostly
I heat normal "cold" drinks. I offer these as alternative
suggestions for you to try. AND ONLY in small amounts
at a time one glass or two, but not five or ten!
Frozen or canned lemonade, grapefruit, cranberry,
tomato, clamato, grape juices…diluted are all great
warm alternatives. Become creative. If you like you'll
drink it: if you don't , you won't!

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

It was not just that simple. Boolanga and
Karmuz had been preparing their children for many
years. The kids well knew all the laws, the
methods, the reasons and the way to conduct
oneself. That Sien had added the stimulus just at
this minute only seemed to be the last straw and
they at once decided to take the final step.

Boolanga and Karmuz were nearly in tears. All
their children were now masters and would from
this instant live their lives in higher law. That
pleased them to the core of their being.

It pleased all present. A cheer went up from
the group and each member thereof went over to
give each of the kids a hug and a whispered
"Welcome".

Then Sien came over to Sharon and put his arms
around her and hugged her. He whispered his
welcome into her ear. Sharon felt so thoroughly
loved she was nearly overwhelmed. Every cell in
her body felt welcomed into higher law. She was
nearly in tears.

"Before you people all start crying right out
loud, let's have something to eat. Brunch is
ready." Eloise directed their attention to the
meal. They all sat and ate.

The conversations were lively. It was like
"old home week". It was a reunion that was filled
with love and interesting stories.

Mae and Susan spoke of their adventures in
China. They told of the meeting Sien in the
monastery where he stayed. They spoke of how
cleverly it had been disguised and how only those
who knew of it would find it. They spoke of Reno,
Amenti, Maria and now Riata and what work they
were doing. They spoke of Tlang, the little girl
they had brought with them the last visit.

Sien brought stories of some of the work that
was being done by the masters who used the
monastery as their point of interaction.

Tim and Sharon listened with glee. Sharon was
impressed with what was happening in a world man
knew little or nothing about. It had occurred to
her man was really quite ignorant of all the help
he received from those who practice higher law.
Man was blind to all but his greed and emotions.

The group sat and enjoyed not only the meal
but each other. For onlookers, looking in from the
outside it was quite a sight. The group emitted a
love that translated into visible light.
Surrounding them and above them was a white light
that remained visible to all who were outside the
circle. That did not alarm the village. They had
seen this many times from groups that joined
Eloise and Mazunta.

The love was so intense among them that time
disappeared. No one was aware of time and time had
no meaning or purpose to them. As anyone could be
anywhere in an instant, and as none had nor
required appointments or had tasks to perform
there was no need to even pay attention to a thing
called time. That was reserved as a measurement
device for man only and was soon lost to those who
lived by higher law. There was simply no need to
record the sun's movements in the sky. Everyone
and everything just was. Nothing was measured.

As death is overcome by those who live by
higher law time has no meaning or purpose.

Sharon had no idea how long they had been
there. She was only aware of a warm intense love
expressed by all, including herself. Her
transformation was now complete.

"Tim, I think maybe we should get home and let
the folks know all is well. They are yet young in
the knowledge I can live by higher law. They don't
really know what that means. It would be
considerate of me to train them bit by bit. That
way they will not worry."

"I'll bet they are wondering what happened to
you. It is hard for men to realize the things we
can do and the places we can go. They just don't
believe it."

"That is what I think might be happening at
home. Shall we go?"

"Sure." Tim then explained to the group they
were leaving and said their good byes.

With that Tim and Sharon vanished. They next
appeared in the kitchen of Sharon's home.

"Oh! My! You surprised me. Where did you come
from you two?" Sharon's Mom jumped with a bit of a
fright when she first saw her daughter and Tim in
the kitchen.

Sharon stepped over to her Mom and gave her a
big hug. "Mom I had a most wonderful time. I want
to tell you about it."

"Sharon, honey, we've been worried. You didn't
come home last night and now it is nearly supper
before you got here. What have you been up to?
Where were you last night? Hello Tim. Have you two
behaved yourselves? I hope there isn't trouble
comes from this."

HA! HA! HA!

There was this truck driver who had to deliver five hundred
penguins to the state zoo. As he was driving his truck
through the desert, the truck breaks down. After waiting by
the side of the road for about three hours he waves another
truck down and offers the driver $500 to take these penguins
to the state zoo for him.

The next day the first truck driver arrives in town and sees
the second truck driver crossing the road with 500 penguins
walking in single file behind him.

The first truck driver jumps out of his truck and says, "What's
going on? I gave you $500 to take these penguins to the zoo!"

The second truck driver replies, "I did take them to the zoo.
And I had enough money left over so now we're going to
see a movie."
