Is it true that Einstein was asked to become president of Israel?
Yes. But he declined.
Are elephants really afraid of mice?
No. This popular myth is entirely untrue. Mice often live in the
straw in elephants' cages in zoos and the elephants show
no concern. In fact, studies done to test this myth found that
elephants appeared not to even notice mice released near
them. Who pays for these kinds of studies? Now, THAT'S a
question we'd all like an answer to.

Tips And Tidbits
The below article comes from MediaPostDaily. It talks about
spam and Texas taking steps to stop those they can. It is an
interesting read. -----------
Texas Seeks Millions from Major 'Spam' Operation
Thu Jan 13, 2005 9:03 PM ET
DALLAS (Reuters) - Texas sued one of the world's largest
"spam" e-mail operations on Thursday, seeking millions of
dollars from two men it says are responsible for sending
illegal messages on the Internet, the state's attorney
general said.
Greg Abbott said Texas filed the civil lawsuit in federal
court in Austin against Ryan Samuel Pitylak, a University
of Texas student, and Mark Stephen Trotter of California.
The two are suspected of controlling companies --
PayPerAction L.L.C., Leadplex L.L.C. and Leadplex Inc. --
that sent millions of spam messages pitching fraudulent
services.
Watchdog group SpamHaus.org has ranked the pair as
running one of the top five spam operations in the world.
"Illegal spam must be stopped," Abbott said at a press
conference in Dallas. "Spam is one of the most
aggravating and pervasive problems facing consumers
today."
An attorney for the defendants said the suit was
groundless and the pair would defend themselves
vigorously.
"Leadplex and PayPerAction are legitimate Internet
marketing companies that are in complete compliance
with the federal CAN-SPAM Act," said Lin Hughes.
That law, which took effect last year, criminalizes
tactics spammers use to spread junk e-mail such as
deceptive subject lines, falsified return addresses
and the use of third-party computers to disguise
their point of origin.
Abbott said the operation named in the civil suit has
violated federal and Texas laws on spam as well as
Texas trade practices. No criminal charges were filed.
The suit charges the operation with using misleading
subject lines in e-mail messages and making
misrepresentations in the body of the e-mail.
For example, an e-mail might have a subject line
telling a recipient of an urgent need concerning
their home loan and the body of the note would solicit
personal information, which the spammers are suspected
of selling to marketing firms for $28 each.
Abbott said Texas worked with Microsoft (MSFT.O: Quote,
Profile, Research) and others who set up "spam traps" --
e-mail accounts established with the intent of collecting
spam messages and tracking down the source. The traps
set up by Microsoft received 24,000 e-mails from the
operation that Abbott charges are illegal messages.

Whos In Charge Here? Thinking About Our
Bodys Healthy Maintenance
PART 5 of 10
The entire body is a set of nine systems,
interconnected and functioning as one whole entity. No
one department can ever function in isolation. I think
the word interrelated describes this well. They must
work in harmony. They help you breathe, move, etc. and
protect you from harm. Every part is vital and none is
more important than another. However, the actions of
some parts can be suspended temporarily until the
others are looked after (fight/flight response).
To relate this to something you already understand,
think of these departments as an office building or
department store
each is responsible for some part of
the overall actions, and unpinned or supported by other
elements. Its almost like primary and secondary
functions or responsibilities, but none could work
without the other. Its vitally important that you
understand this inter-relationship. Nothing bugs me
more that people telling me that they have been told
one part of their body has no influence on
another...have you tried walking around without your
head yet? It is my experience that dental problems are
related to all kinds of other health issues. We
recognize that in animals. Nature is nature. Your body
is all about balance and it strives for it constantly.
So when one area has a problem, the bodys natural
instinct is to restore the balance. It will borrow from
another area to satisfy that need. This is called
homeostasis. This is important principle to remember.
Merriam Webster dictionary describes this as the
maintenance of relatively stable internal physiological
conditions (as body temperature or the pH of blood) in
higher animals under fluctuating environmental
conditions ; also : the process of maintaining a stable
psychological state in the individual under varying
psychological pressures or stable social conditions in
a group under varying social, environmental, or
political factors.

The 9 departments or systems include the nervous system
which co-ordinates all body functions: brain being the
"executive office". This includes the brain, spinal
cord, nerves. The respiratory system is vital for
breathing, and gas & waste exchange. It includes the
nose, pharynx, lungs sinuses. The cardiovascular system
circulates blood and nutrients to entire body
constantly and is made of heart, blood vessels,
lymphatic system, etc. The musculo-skeletal system is
made up of bones and soft tissue. It supports and
protects body parts and red blood cell formation
(carries oxygen): joints, bones. The muscular part
gives form and connects all skeletal parts of body. It
includes the heart muscle, thigh, spinal canal, etc.
The gastro-intestinal tract digests and transports all
nutrients throughout body. The endocrine system
produces hormones that regulate all body processes. It
made up of glands. The urinary system manages fluid
and electrolyte balance, and eliminates liquid waste
products. It works with your kidneys, bladder, and
urethra. The reproductive system is made up of male and
female organs that are required for the survival of our
species and includes testes, penis, uterus, breasts,
and glans. The integumentary system holds it all
together! Hair nails and skin. Miles of it!

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Off they went, Tim and Bob. They walked
through the village, stopping to talk with those
who said hello, which was nearly everyone, and
continued on their way to the beach. They came up
the little rise before the jungle area turned to
beach. Bob stopped and took a deep breath.
"That is beautiful. Listen to the birds.
Listen to the kids. Look at the beauty of the
jungle and the flowers. Wow."
"Hello, Mr. Smithson." A voice came from
behind Bob.
He turned to look and there was a villager Bob
had not seen.
"Bob, this is Boolanga. He lives by higher
law, too. That is how he knew who you were. He and
my sisters husband, Mazunta, live by higher law
and are basically responsible for the safety of
the village. They and David, here." Tim was
explaining as David Wiley came up from the beach.
"Hello Boolanga. Hello David. Gee, there are
more of you than one would think. You have a nice
place here. I think I can see why you like to live
here. Do you miss Pinehill, David?"
"Not one second, Mr. Smithson. When I can
travel there any second I want there is no need to
miss it. Every once in a while we go up to visit
my wife's folks. They had just as hard a time
coming to terms with higher law as you are having.
It is quite a change from the way most men live."
"It sure is David. Boolanga, how did you come
to live by higher law?"
"Missy taught me when she was down here on her
first trip."
"Missy?"
"Thats the name the villagers have given my
sister." Tim explained. "Come, lets go down to the
beach. That water there is the Amazon river, Bob.
It is mid summer now so the river is low. When the
rains come that river will fill up so far you can
hardly see the other side. It's a massive amount
of water."
"I've heard stories of danger in this river."
"Yes. The kids are taught early to stay away
from the water until or unless there is adult
supervision. Right at this spot there doesn't seem
to be much in the way of crocodiles or piranha,
but rules are rules. The kids seem so occupied
with their ball game they never bother with the
water. Look at them. They play that game of ball
from sun up to sun down, everyday."
"It is all wonderful, Tim. I am glad you
brought me here. It is still hard for me to
believe one can travel by thought but I am here. I
think it is time we went home. I have to speak to
Sharon."
With that comment Tim held out his hand and
the two of them were in the Henry kitchen once
more. Tim recommended a coffee while they talked
some more.
"Mr. Smithson, I appreciate your attitude
while we were away. It shows a genuine desire to
understand. I had to take you because if I only
said we could travel that way you would not
believe me. Now I have something else that might
be a problem for you. That is why I thought we
should have a coffee first before I take you to
where Sharon is."
"What problem would that be?"
"Sharon had already taken an apartment. She
did not do it out of spite but out of clear
thinking. She wanted to be where she could see her
way through higher law, where she could think,
alone. She knew it meant she had to get away from
her family and from me, so she decided to take an
apartment not far from here. I have been there. It
is nice."
"But, Tim, she has no money, no furniture, no
food. How can she do this. Are you sure she did it
with a clear head. We have had our fights and she
may have wanted to get away from me."
"She knows you might think that way but that
way is not the truth. She knows full well you will
see who and what she is and in time you will come
to understand. She knows how deeply you love her
and is not worried about that aspect of life. This
change has been a big one for her as well as you.
She just wanted some 'space' where she could do
her own thinking. If you accept it as that things
will go on much easier for both of you. She told
me she had plans of being home frequently so she
could explain things to you and Mrs. Smithson. She
cares but does not want to face competition just
at the moment. She prefers to stay away from
confrontation."
"I think I can understand that. I don't know
what gets into me, a hard time handling change, I
guess."
"Well, Mr. Smithson, is this not the time you
raised her for? Did you not train her and prepare
her for a life of her own?"
"Yes, Tim, but not to move out in the middle
of a fight."
