TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

Is there any group of people without cancer?

Where do you find the most long-lived people?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Are there really such things as elephant graveyards?

It's controversial. It's true that large numbers of elephant
bones have been found together in certain locations.
However, this might be explained by the fact that the
animals live together in herds and were once killed
together by poachers.

What was life expectancy like in the early days of America?

People did not generally live long. In George Washington's
day, average life expectancy for men was just 34 years and
only 36 years for women. A hundred years and modern
medicine can make a lot of difference!

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW!™

Release Useless Remnants Of Your Past

Are you hanging on to anything in life that really would be
best left behind? Holding onto things from the past, that no
longer serve you in any positive way? How do you know? Here
are a few insights that can help you have a "baggage-free"
life.

DID IT SLIP UNDER THE RADAR?

Sometimes, we can be with folks we believe love us. We
consider these folks trustworthy and safe and we allow
ourselves to relax when we're with them. Our history with them
is such that we can be vulnerable, comfortable and carefree.

Sometimes, though, in a moment of misplaced frankness or
thoughtless teasing, a remark is made that slips under our
radar. We were sure we were safe and the zinger takes us
completely off guard. Not only that, it makes its way
directly to our heart...and our subconscious.

Many years later, we may still be repeating those thoughtless
words to ourselves as true when, indeed, the person who
uttered the words has forgotten about them completely.

Research shows that many an anorexic became so after an
off-hand remark about chubbiness slipped under the radar when
delivered by a loved family member or close friend. There
were no defences against it and it cut to the quick.

If you are hanging onto something someone once said and
repeating it to yourself as gospel, examine this. It was
likely untrue at the time and even more untrue now. Release
yourself from it. Get it out of your self-talk.

Remember, you choose your self-talk. Choose wisely. Accept
no substitutes for uplifting, positive, forward-moving
thoughts.

DID IT COME FROM SOMEONE SPECIAL?

Do you have things in your house that you don't particularly
like but someone you love gave it to you or left it to you?
Unless you have warm, loving thoughts every time you look at
it, release it. Let it go. You are not doing the friend or
relative a disservice. You are doing yourself one.

Surround yourself with things that you find functional,
beautiful or memorable in the best way possible.

Gifts are tokens of caring. It is the desire to give that is
the important thing, not the object. Gifts given with strings
attached are not gifts. They are alternative ways of exerting
control. Give them back or give them away. That's the way to
get out from under that weight.

Ever receive a gift that felt more like an obligation? I
remember my mother giving me a watch and asking me where it
was each time I was not wearing it. I eventually offered to
give it back to her so that she would not have to wonder where
it was. Gifts with tentacles surrounding them are not gifts.
Release them.

DID SOMEONE TELL YOU IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO?

Have you examined your beliefs, values and goals lately? Are
they truly yours or are they left-overs someone gave you?
Recently I was giving a seminar and I asked the participants
to quickly write down their beliefs. After two or three, some
were unsure what else to write. Our beliefs are ingrained and
we often operate from them almost unconsciously.

Perhaps you may have written, 'I believe each person is
trustworthy until they prove otherwise.' Another may have
written, "I believe I can trust no one until they prove
themselves trustworthy." Where do you sit? What is right for
you?

One day I was sorting photographs after my mother's death. As
I reflected on the relationship she and I shared, I thought
about approval. For my mom's generation, or, at least for my
mom, giving approval was tantamount to giving up control. She
had an underlying belief that, if she ever told me I was good
enough, I would give up trying, striving and growing. Does
that ring a bell for you?

What I learned that day sorting the photographs was that,
although I loved my Mom, there were many things about her
beliefs and behaviours that I did not approve of. Are you
waiting for the approval of someone of whom you do not
approve? That is a self-defeating, endless wait. Give it up!

Live by your own rules, your own beliefs, your own values.
That is what makes you unique in this world AND able to give
your unique gift to the world.

If you are living from inherited agendas or the unwritten
rules that were slipped to you, get over it! Step up, step
out and step in to your own carefully examined beliefs and
behaviours. As Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in
the world." You can do it! Start now.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -

Who’s In Charge Here? Thinking About Our
Body’s Healthy Maintenance
PART 7 of 10

Up to now, you have been just reading about the
interrelated functions of the body. Now let’s look at
some choices you need to make to keep on functioning.
And what might happen if you don’t make a choice by
simply doing nothing…trying to ignore the situation.
Some actions are very simple “no brainers”. Others can
be very complex.

Let me give you a couple of examples. Remember we are
looking for ways to keep the body functioning. This
example is about the circulatory system. Pretend you
are sitting on your leg and it falls asleep. It will
start to tingle and then go numb. Somewhere along the
way, your brain is telling you that this is not right
and you should be doing something to change, i.e.
change your position. The simplest response is to move
your leg so the bloodflow with be restored, along with
the oxygen and nutrients.  Now the limb is back working
properly. But picture someone who has no feeling in
that part of their body (quadriplegic or paraplegic).
This “simple” action isn’t so simple anymore. It will
require someone to recognize the problem and change the
person’s position. What if you decided to do nothing?
Eventually the leg will become dead (necrosed) and will
have to be removed (amputated). That is extreme, but it
does happen. But you have many choices before it gets
to this point if you are aware of your choices. Most of
the time, your body will do this for you automatically
or unconsciously (the invisible part of you).

Another example is high blood pressure, also known as
hypertension. You would be encouraged to change your
lifestyle, including your stress levels. Hopefully
drugs would be the last recommendation: not the first
choice. But again, here are choices. But if you chose
to do nothing, a very real possible outcome is could be
a stroke (blood clot in the brain) or heart attack
(blood clot in the heart muscle). Again, a choice
should be made. In many instances, if you spend some
concentrated, focussed time, you can find the
underlying cause, and by changing a few things, you can
change your body’s reaction. So no matter what is going
on, you have some choices to make. The more
knowledgeable you are the easier and less scary the
decision will be. I am frequently telling people that
their health is theirs: not their health care
professional’s. You have to live with the symptoms
after the doctor’s office closes for the night. Of
course, I am speaking of non-emergent situations. If
you have chest pain, go to the nearest Emergency Room
and get checked out. No question about that, but for
our present learning, it is helpful to know what is
going on in your body. One of the questions I received
had to do with chest pain. Now I would expect the
person to have figured out for themselves if this was
an emergency. By sending me an email, I have to assume
it was not. So what are the possible causes for
something like this? Go back to the original idea that
your heart (in this case) is not getting adequate
oxygen or nutrients. Or something is irritating or
pressing on the nerves leading to it. So would a shift
in position or a loosening of clothes, relieve the
pain? Look for the obvious before you rush out. For a
long time, we misinterpreted gallbladder problems and
heartburn as heart attacks. Still, it is much wiser to
be cautious.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Shing Li called.

Mae and Susan each looked at the other. Within
minutes they were are Shing Li's place.
In the kitchen there was scurrying around,
loud, fearful voices and a coughing child,
although there was no longer much strength in the
cough.

Mae and Susan recognized immediately what the
trouble was. They walked into the kitchen.

"MAE!" Shing Li nearly jumped at her. "Quick,
quick, Tsung is choking" Shing Li was desperate.
She had lost control of herself and was now mid
panic.

"Quiet, Shing Li. Quiet Psong," Shing Li's
friend Psong was there as well. The boy had quit
coughing.

Mae knew that the boy had found a chicken bone
outside and thought he could eat it. A fragment
had both ends caught in his throat. There was no
way it could be removed without surgery, or higher
law.

Mae closed her eyes and concentrated on what
had to be done. She envisioned the bone dissolving
entirely and then opened her eyes and looked at
Tsung. 'TSUNG. WAKE UP!"

The command shook the room and the whole
house. It shook both Shing Li and Psong. They were
frightened even by the sound of Mae's voice.

The boy began to stir. He opened his eyes. He
coughed a little and was gasping for breath. The
bone was gone and Tsung was now getting his little
lungs filled to the max with good fresh air.

Shing Li grabbed him and held him, kissing and
hugging him like he was the last little boy in
earth. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." She
repeated this over and over, bowing each time. She
kept it up.

Mae hollered. "SHING LI!" The call of her name
seemed to awaken her. Shing Li stopped, put the
boy down and looked at Mae.

"Shing Li you must regain control of yourself.
What happened that you did not use higher law to
heal the boy. You must at all times keep a clear
head and think your way through all situations."

"Miss Mae, Miss Susan, thank you for coming so
quickly. I try, Miss Mae. I try. I could not and
it became worse. I scared. Why it not work for
me?"

"Shing Li, think it through. You were too
close to the situation. It is always best when
this work is done by those who are not so closely
attached. You lost your objectiveness because
Tsung is your little boy and he was in trouble. It
is good you called, but you should have called the
moment you realized Tsung was in trouble. You
should not have even tried. Even if Susan and I
had been delayed for a day, all would have worked
out well. You must learn to trust your Maker's
laws. They will always work. You must not panic
and you must never become scared of anything or
anyone. You must learn this lesson, Shing Li."

Shing Li was so shook up by now that all her
fears began to wash out of her system in the form
of tears. She sobbed and sobbed.

Psong, too, cried. Both women had been more
frightened than at any time in their lives.

Mae and Susan took each one in their arms and
just held the two younger women. The young ones
soaked up loads of energy from Mae and Susan.

It was an hour before there was any meaningful
conversation. By that time Tsung had already gone
out to play again. Whatever it was that hurt him
hurt no more and there was lots of world yet to
discover.

Kids are wonderful that way. If given half a
chance to respond in a healthy way, they will.
However if parents or guardians respond with fear
the child learns immediately to live in fear. In
this case his Mother was crying, but Mae and
Susan, with whom he was familiar, were calm and
steady, seeing nothing wrong. So he just went out
to play.

When Shing Li noticed this she was on her way
after him.

Mae called her back, "Shing Li. What are you
going to do?"

"I'm going to get Tsung. He can't play there
any more. He might do that again."

"Shing Li, get back here. Stop and think a
minute. He knows how much he was hurt. He will
never in his life put stuff like that in his mouth
again. Give the child some credit for having
knowledge and intelligence. This was a learning
experience for him. He learned. The question is
did you?"

Shing Li hung her head. She knew precisely
what Mae was speaking about. She had reverted to
an earthly Mother and was doing all the things an
emotional Mother does. She was not responding with
clear thinking, neither higher law.

"Shing Li, all will be well. Simmer down and
we will talk. How long have you been like this.
Have you stopped completely trying to learn higher
law? Do you still manifest food for your meals?"

Mae knew all the answers. She just wanted
Shing Li to do some thinking and talking so she
would get back on track.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

"... if we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

A minister dies and is waiting in line at the Pearly Gates.
Ahead of him is a guy who is dressed in sunglasses, a
loud shirt, leather jacket, and jeans.

Saint Peter addresses the guy, "Who are you, so that I
may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of
Heaven?" the guy replies, "I'm Joe Cohen, taxi-driver, of
Noo Yawk City."

Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the
taxi-driver "Take the silken robe and staff, and enter the
Kingdom of Heaven."

The taxi-driver goes into Heaven with his robe and staff,
and it's the minister's turn. He stands erect and booms out,
"I am Joseph Snow, pastor of St. Mary's for the last forty-three
years."

Saint Peter consults his list. He says to the minister, "Take
this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom
of Heaven."

"Just a minute," says the minister. "That man was a
taxi-driver and he gets a silken robe and golden staff.
How can that be?"

"Up here, we work by results," says Saint Peter. "While
you preached people slept, while he drove,
people prayed."
