TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

What queen of England never lived in nor even
visited the country?

Are teeth made of the same material as bone?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Who is higher up: an Earl or a Duke?

In the British line of peerage, a Duke is higher than an
Earl. The order, from highest to lowest, is as follows:

Duke and Duchess, Marquis and Marchioness, Earl and
Countess (a Count is the European counterpart of the
British Earl), Viscount and Viscountess, Baron and
Baroness.

What infamous Countess was a mass murderer?

Countess Elizabeth Bathory of Hungary, known as the
"Blood Countess," is reputed to have killed hundreds of
young girls as a sadistic pastime. Elizabeth was able to
kill the girls, mostly peasants from the surrounding countryside,
with impunity for many years because of her noble station.
Legends say she believed that by bathing in her victim's
blood, she would stay young forever. There is, however, no
real evidence that she did this. Eventually, her crimes reached
such a magnitude that her "cousin" Count Thurzo, ordered
by the king and church officials to act, saw to it that Elizabeth
was walled into her castle to live out her final days in isolation.
Her accomplices, mostly servants, were executed. Some
scholars speculate that Bram Stoker, author of Dracula,
based his legendary vampire in part on Elizabeth (as well
as another sadistic killer - Vlad the Impaler).

Here's To Think On ...

Desires Overrun Clear Thinking

I believe my daughter wants a pair of glasses. I don't know
why she does. Perhaps glasses are now "cool" to have in
school? But though she sees just fine, she still says she
needs glasses.

I took her to the eye doctor just to check it out though. She
was asked to read the bottom row of letters on the eye chart.

She said, "All right, I can see the 'O' and the 'P' and the 'T,'
but not the 'N' and the 'Z.'"

Remember those days, when you were a kid? Sometimes
you wanted things so bad you could almost taste them. It
was a time when our desires would run away completely
with sound judgment.

In fact we had no sound judgment in those days. And that
seemed to be a condition that prevailed even past out
teen years. I remember when I bought my first new car.
There it was gleaming and shiny in the showroom. I
could smell it, touch it. I could see myself driving in it
and I thought it would turn heads. I would have
mortgaged my soul back in those days for that first
new vehicle.

That's what happens when we don't learn to curb our
emotions and begin to make decisions based on good,
sound, clear thinking. Many there are who do not learn
that lesson and they are continually at the mercy of
skillful sales techniques.

Advertising is purposely designed to reach the heart
of those who still think with their emotions. That is
exactly why car manufacturers produce so many
different models of vehicles. They make sure each
one is advertised to reach those of certain emotional
levels. Cigarette companies are the same, as are the
beer producers. All is designed to pull your heart
strings, which are attached to your purse strings.

It is a wonderful day when one learns the lesson of
sing clear thinking to navigate through life. I
recommend it to everyone. Remember ...

Who’s In Charge Here? Thinking About Our
Body’s Healthy Maintenance
PART 10 of 10

Here are my two blood pressure examples: real live
stories. Both people have been on antihypertensive
drugs for years…as a “precaution”. “Antihypertensive
”means a chemical used to prevent the body from raising
the blood pressure. Here is an interesting link, with
lots of information available.

http://www.heartcenteronline.com/myheartdr/common/
articles.cfm?ARTID=110

Both these people complained a lot of having no energy.
They had no appetite and neither had any motivation to
do anything. When I encouraged them to take their blood
pressures for a few days, both had very low readings.
Sometimes 85/50. Both discussed this with their doctors
and neither doctor would take them off the medications!
With all you now understand, does this make sense to
you? If they have poor appetites, inadequate
circulation because of their low blood pressure is
already, why would they be continued on chemicals that
drop their readings even further? Just asking!

If you are faced with this situation, what might you do
first? I would borrow someone’s blood pressure machine
for a few weeks and take readings…compare only “like”
readings, meaning compare morning readings to morning
readings. Wear the same type of clothes. It won’t skew
the readings. I would record every reading with the
time of day, and what day/date. You will quickly find
out if the readings are lower than usual.
Antihypertensive: Something that reduces high blood
pressure (hypertension).Discuss your concerns with your
doctor. Drink lots of water: it will help detoxify your
body naturally. Read the information about natural
healing and health conditions at the JAMA link. This
comes from the American Medical Association.
Interesting and very hopeful. They recognize and
recommend what you have learned here…that your body
strives for balance and nutrition, in optimum amounts,
and that will replenish its needs.
http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/287/23/3127

I said before that there is one thing that you HAVE to
do and no one can do it for you. And this one thing is
crucial to your existence. It is the act of eating and
putting things into your body somehow. It is the only
way for you to keep living. Your digestive system
produces enzymes and bile to digest your food or
nutrients that now enter your body through your
conscious effort. This also pertains to drugs, be they
over the counter (OTC) or prescription. They end up in
the same place as do the nutrients. And if you recall
one of the principles, every drug has a side effect.

You now know a bit more about your body and how it
functions and how to keep it healthy. Isn’t it amazing
that really all your body needs daily is food, water
and air? Simple things, yet your body turns those into
running a very complex operating system, allowing you
to be alive twenty four hours a day, seven days a
weeks, all year and every year! Truly amazing! Make
this the beginning of your search for taking back
control of health as opposed to illness. It can be
done, but it will take awareness, study, trial and
error, and a sincere desire to make changes if you
aren’t happy with your present lifestyle. The medical
community is there to help you, but you are in charge
from now on.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Ben Striker could hardly believe it. He was
overwhelmed. Ben had been in public service all
his life and finally as the Police Chief of
Pinehill he was in a position where he felt he
could positively and benevolently help people in
trouble, but nothing he had ever experienced along
those lines ever amounted to this.

Ben was in Arizona. The day was hot and dry.
He was on an Indian Reservation to help out a man
who, over the years had been a considerable value
to his people. The man was now caught on the sides
of a vertical precipice, having fallen over the
edge of a cliff. He had no one around whom he
could call and the longer he was there the more
tenuous his safety became.

The valley floor below was more than 400 feet
away. Letting go would be certain death. The man's
fingers were even beginning to sweat. His fear was
getting the best of him.

The man had a very slim grasp on a spur of
rock that he had been able to grab as he was
falling. There was no telling how long the rock
would hold, but, worse yet, the man's strength was
waning and he had no idea how much longer he could
hang on.

Ben had been called to help.

Hovering in space just behind the man Ben
began to send the man thoughts and love. "I am
here behind you. You are now safe and nothing will
harm you. I want you to let go with one hand and
reach around to take my hand. You will be safe."

The man attempted to look around to see the
source of the "voice" he heard. All he could see
was the silhouette of a man surrounded by very
bright light. The silhouette had a hand extended.

From that moment the man on the cliff went
into a trance. It was that moment all fear left
him and a sudden and wonderful peace came over
him. It made him forget where he was or how
tenuous his condition was. Slowly he let go of the
cliff with one hand and took the extended hand of
the vision. The hold was solid, strong, filled
with love, yet not hard or harsh.

The man let go of the cliff completely now. As
if by a miracle he was led to turn sideways to the
cliff and there, unseen before, was a staircase
that led to the top of the cliff and safety. Hand
in hand the man and the silhouette walked
peacefully along until they reached the top. There
they marched about 20 feet back from the edge, to
safety.

The silhouette let go of the man, but the love
and strength the man felt was still present. Then
he received these thoughts - "Fear not you are now
safe. Your Maker within you has caused you to be
loved and free of sin. Go and continue your work.
If you need me again you need only go inside your
mind and call the name 'Ben' and I will come."

With that the glorious light and the
silhouette vanished. The man sat down. It was the
custom amongst his people to give thanks for such
visions, such aid. It did not happen often but
when it did reverence was the first thought.

The Indian sat there for hours in gratitude
and love. He was not trying to analyze what
happened. He was only trying, his way, to say
thank you to those unseen spirits who helped. He
well knew he would have been dead at the bottom of
the cliff had he remained hanging on the cliff
side much longer.

For Ben it was a real coming to terms with his
ability to aid people. He was able to do things
now, living by higher law, that he had not even
been able to think of doing in former years. He
was able to help people in ways that would elude
him before.

Ben, too, was thankful. He was thankful to his
Maker, within, for the knowledge and ability he
now had. He was thankful for the opportunity to
have learned higher law and his heart was filled
with love for his Maker.

Ben was not one to be emotional but this
present situation had him nearly in tears with
gratitude. He went to another butte in this
Arizona valley and sat on top. He, too, wanted to
sit and think.

This was a glorious day. Yes it was hot. Yes
the sun was bright. Yet there was an amazing
energy to the day. It was a day when the soul was
clean, clear and could soar to great heights. Ben
was overwhelmed by the gifts of the day, the
place, the opportunity to serve his fellow man.

He was thankful too, for his friend Sam Henry
who had the courage to continue with higher law in
spite of public ridicule and hatred. He was
thankful to Sam for being there for him and for
the aid Sam had given him in his pursuit of living
by higher law.

Ben's heart was so completely full of love
this day he felt he could create worlds. He was.
All of us do. Ben's was simply more expansive than
what most men do. He had learned to develop innate
abilities other men shun. He had made a decision
other men think foolish for they have money to
pursue.

Ben was thankful.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

"I believe...that every human mind feels pleasure in doing

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

The worried housewife sprang to the telephone when it
rang and listened with relief to the kindly voice in her ear.

'How are you doing darling?' she said, "What kind of day
are you having?"

"Oh, mother," said the housewife, breaking into bitter
tears, "I've had such a bad day. The baby won't eat
and the washing machine broke down. I haven't a chance
to go shopping, and besides, I've just sprained my
ankle and I have to hobble around. On top of that, the
house is a mess and I'm supposed to have two couples
to dinner tonight."

The mother was shocked and was at once all sympathetic.
"Oh darling," she said, 'sit down, relax, and close your eyes.
I'll be over in half an hour. I'll do your shopping, clean up
the house, and cook your dinner for you. I'll feed the baby
and I'll call a repairman I know who'll be at your house to
fix the washing machine promptly. Now stop crying. I'll
do everything. In fact, I'll even call George at the office
and tell him he ought to come home and help out for
once."

"George?" said the housewife. "Who's George?"

"Why, George! Your husband!.... Is this 714-555-9174?"

"No, this is 714-555-9175."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I have the wrong number."

There was a short pause and the housewife said,

"Does that mean you're not coming over?"
