How Do You Appear To Others?
Even if you're not a grandparent you will enjoy
this. A teacher asked her young pupils how they spent
their vacation.
One child wrote the following:
We always spend our vacation with Grandma and Grandpa.
They used to live here in a big, brick house, but Grandpa
got retarded and they moved to Florida and now they live
in a place with a lot of other retarded people. They live in
a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like
grass.
They ride around on big tricycles and wear name tags
because they don't know who they are anymore. They go
to a building called a wrecked center, but they must have
got it fixed because it is all right now. They play games and
do exercises there, but they don't do them very well.
There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down
in it with their hats on. I guess they don't know how to swim.
At their gate there is a dollhouse with a little old man sitting
in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes
they sneak out. Then they go cruising in their golf carts.
My grandma used to bake cookies and stuff, but I guess
she forgot how. Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And
they eat the same thing every night: Early Birds.
Some of the people can't get past the man in the dollhouse t
o go out, so the ones who get out bring food back to the
wrecked center and call it pot luck.
My Grandma says Grandpa worked all his life to earn his
retardment and says I should work hard so I can be retarded
one day, too. When I earn my retardment I want to be the man
in the doll house. Then I will let people out so they can visit
their grandchildren.
While this view may appear to be what is seen through the
eyes of a very young child, it nonetheless gives us an idea
what the young see.
You think you are straightforward, loving, kind, honest. Maybe
the young see you as different. Maybe those from other lands
see you as interfering, meddling, taking.
Even when your heart is filled with love and you see yourself
as a giving person you can be seen as a malicious taker.
Think not others are without wisdom and knowledge. They
can see better than you know. Think not they see you through
wrong eyes. Question your own motives before passing
judgment on those who react wrongly to you. Ask yourself
"What do they see when they look at me?"
Many will see your kind heart, your giving, your wanting to
help as a way to satisfy your own ego, while, sooner or
later extracting a price from those you help.
Only those whose motives are as pure as the driven snow
have a hope of avoiding this kind of judgment by others. And
that kindness has to be proven over many, many years.
Short term aid doesn't cut it. It must come from the heart and
be practiced as a matter of daily living.
Sure you say all you want to do is to perform what your ideals
tell you. Sure you say you want to help. Sure you say you
want to devote your life to charitable work. Yet take the time
to ask yourself deeply and truly ...

I mentioned earlier that all these joints or hinges of so many
bones must be flexible. A joint naturally secretes a fluid to
lubricate it. But it must be mobile to do that. If not, the
joint will get dry and any movement is difficult and painful.
Such is the case with osteoarthritis. This is degeneration.
Another group of degenerative conditions are "collagen"
diseases. Collagen is a protein found in the connective tissues
of joints.tendons, ligaments, and other strong fibre-like
tissues. The collagen becomes involved in an Inflammatory
Process. And because the problems happen in different parts of
the body, different areas will become stiff and painful to move.
Scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, and myositis are just a few
of these conditions. (I want to remind you that the American
Medical Association wrote a report about the use of nutritional
supplementation and degenerative conditions. It is not necessary
any longer to accept this condition blindly.)
A contracture is an abnormal position caused by the limb not
being used regularly. It "freezes" the position and it's very
painful to move later on. In bedridden people, (young and old)
it's imperative for their limbs to be exercised even "passively"
by someone else. Elbows and knees are common places for
contractures, but fingers and toes suffer too. And the whole
body needs to be moved regularly. That is why you can see some
people on what we call alternating pressure mattresses.or "egg
crates". It's all to do with shifting the weight around the
body. It helps the circulatory system by allowing the fluid to
be redirected. Those red spots on hopes and knees and elbows are
all to do with poor circulation: this lack of movement. You want
and need smoothly moving joints.
Conclusion
This has been a very brief overview of hands and feet. Because
they are so crucial to our well being, and quality of life, you
are encouraged to use good hygiene and practical, preventative
safety measures. Frequent hand washing and drying hands
completely, gets rid of bacteria or other germs. It also
prevents chapping and subsequent infections. Do not use
antibacterial soaps unless you absolutely have to. They could
well be a factor in less than effective antibiotic coverage at
some future time. You don't need it. (Soap and water are fine.)
Use hand lotion to prevent redness and open sores, which could
well lead to infections.both internal and external ones. If you
are working, wear gloves to protect your hands. Your ego might
not need them: your hands do. Wear safety shoes and good shoes
for footwork. Use common sense. Use your toes and fingers for
way they are meant to do. Feet are not meant to kick heavy boxes
through a warehouse. Fingers are meant to enjoy eating and
caring for things. With loving care both sets of extremities
will serve you for years and years. Can you imagine your body
without hands and feet? What would your life be like? It would
be difficult to feed and clothe yourself.to "run" errands.to
wash...to do an huge number of things. If you had the choice, I
know you will choose to be "complete" with hands and feet. Look
after them. Treat them and your entire body with the respect all
parts deserve.

anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.

Hemno, Eloise and Sonora did likewise with the
hierarchy within the army. It did not take long.
As the chain of command broke down two things
happened. The "rebels" saw an opportunity to move
in and take control, and the aid workers from
other countries began to take control of all aid
facilities.
The rebels, unfortunately, proved to be as
greedy as did the government and were handled the
same way as the government. There were many,
however, who came to this task with nothing but
benevolent objectives in mind. Soon they were the
ones in control.
An interesting phenomenon occurred. The aid
workers from other lands picked up on the
confusion of government and began to make
decisions of their own. For the most part all was
well, but there were those among them who saw the
opportunity to benefit themselves. Some horded and
sold aid for money, others, too, wanted feminine
favors, still some pocketed the cash that flowed
past them.
The effort was put together so fast and with
so many inexperienced personnel that the kind of
activity that was going on by those less than
honorable was not detected.
As Sam, Ben and Sien were now finished with
those that formed the government, they now
concentrated their attentions to what was
happening to fill the vacuum left by those in
government. Again, the broadcast of love unto all
is what provided the answer. To those with a pure
heart who were genuinely wanting to help, the were
given more personal power. To those that
demonstrated greed, even behind closed doors, they
were given confusion, removed from their positions
and put in the field where the real hard work was.
It was agreed that Sien hover all around those
areas that needed help and watch for any condition
that needed the attention of those he brought with
him. The others spread out across the country and
began to aid in the rescue attempts, the medical
facilities and in the matter of getting and
sharing food and water.
Sien had also enlisted the aid of others who
lived by higher law. There were hundreds around.
All were busy.
This project took six days of non-stop work.
Every time a government worker would stand up and
lay out commands that were not good for the
majority of the people of the land, Sien would
confuse him with love. In that manner Sien ensured
that none of the men in government would gain
money, indeed he arranged for each to lose money.
This land was a strange one. The people wanted
to throw out what it perceived as a virtual
dictatorship. The government presently in office
were already engaged in the rendering of laws that
diametrically opposed rebel activities. No matter
how small an act a rebel performed it would have
become illegal according to the law of the land.
Worse yet, whenever any rebel found political
power he/she would do the same as the present
government was doing. This group of rebels did not
want the seat of government because they felt they
could do better. They wanted the government
because they wanted the money, the control, the
power.
It would be many, many years before this was
all sorted out. Once a rebel had power he soon
became corrupt with it He/she would begin using
that power against the people.
The condition was not unlike the kind of thing
that happens back in North America. It is
generally considered by business, government and
the judiciary that there are approximately 25% of
the people who are completely, uncorruptably
honest. There is an equal number who will steal,
rob, lie and do other things, sometimes even
blatantly. And there is a group comprising about
50% of the population who, while being basically
honest, will take advantage of a situation if they
think they are not being watched.
That is the name of the game in the material
world where men want only more. Approximately 75%
of the population will take things from another
(steal) if given what looks like an unwatched
opportunity.
The condition in Asia is much more blunt than
that. It was quite clear there were those who
calculated their way to benefits rather than aid
those in need of help.
Believe it or not that kind of activity took
place amongst the churches as well. Each saw an
opportunity for picking up converts, power and
control.
When greed gets to taking food and materials
meant for victims of an enormous earthquake, then
Sam, Ben and the others made sure that person
received a little more love. Soon these people
were also confused and found no reward but pain
for their thinking.
