Here is one reason why newsletters work as a part of
the marketing mix. It becomes clear, too, that if you
market products to women, an ever growing segment
of the internet marketplace, you should heed what these
survey results tell you.
The following is an excerpt from Just An Online Minute
from MediaPost.

Twice as many younger women (18-34) as older women
(50 +) think sarcasm is funny: 79 percent versus 39 percent.
The majority of women 18-49 would choose a mate who
is very funny over a mate with a lot of money, and
two-thirds of women would choose a mate who is
very funny over a mate with extremely good looks.
Politically conservative and liberal women (18 to 49)
think that "a lot of today's comedy pushes the envelope
in a good way: 55 percent conservative versus 79
percent liberal.
The majority of women (88 percent) are less likely to
change the channel during the commercial break if the
ad is funny.
Nearly nine in 10 women will tell other people about
a funny commercial they like.
These are the findings of a study on women and humor
conducted by Oxygen Media, Grey Global Group's
MediaCom, and NOP World's RoperASW.

Rarely do you find the results of surveys so definitive.
Many, too, disregard good humor in their marketing
approach, being too serious all the time.
Another point to consider is the number of single Moms
who represent a large part of the women who purchase
for the family.
Sell to the women and you get the bulk of the
marketplace.

BLIND E-MAILS
One of the big problems with group e-mails is getting people to
respond. If you send a e-mail to 40 people, most won't respond.
They assume the other 39 recipients will take care of the
problem. Studies show that people are much more responsive if
they think they were the only ones being sent to.
There's a way to do this. The key is the BCC line in the
address portion of your e-mail. BCC means "blind carbon copy."
Anyone whose address is put there will only see the address in
the To line.
It works this way: You want to send a note to a bunch of people.
In the To line, you put your address. Then list all recipients
in BCC. Each recipient sees your address in the To and From
lines. There is no evidence on the e-mail that it went out
to other people.

Understanding Medical Terminology
A Little Bit More

Sometimes there are two root words such as "cholelithiasis".
These two root words are "chole" meaning bile and "lith(os)"
meaning stone as in "lithiasis". And it means something (a
condition) having a stone. You can have a gallstone
(cholelithiasis) or a kidney stone. You can have stones in your
mouth's salivary glands but you can't have stones in your lungs
or your heart. I also haven't heard of liver stones.
Common terms are CHOLECYSTITIS. It mean to have gallstones
(chole = bile & cyst = bladder or sac). HEMOCHROMATOSIS means
you have too much iron in your blood Hemo = blood, chroma =
color, and osis = condition of. MENINGITIS is an inflammation or
infection of the covering of the spinal cord and the brain.
Let's use some of the terms in a fun way..a sort of recipe.
We'll just use a few of each group: prefixes, root words, and
suffixes. I won't bother with the combining forms. Our prefixes
are hyper (high), pre (before), dys (painful), poly (many).
Our root words are liver (hepat), lungs (pneumo), stomach
(gastro), brain (neuro).
Our suffixes are ectomy (removal), scopy (looking into with an
instrument), otomy (opening into), ia (condition of), plegia
(paralysis).

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

lustful desires, hers too, the passing of time will cause
that to fade and become less important. That is where
you must be intellectually compatible. You must then be
able to live together by choice, not by obligation or law.
You must realize now that when you eat pizza twenty
one times a week for a few years, then pizza loses its
appeal. So too with relationships. So you must look at
that now to understand that in the years ahead you will
seek different things from each other. That is why you
chose to communicate with one another in spite of
circumstances. That is why the goals you chose should
be mutual goals on which both shall work or at least
support one another. Think on these things. When
you say the words forever, and always, that means a
long time. Think on this." said Sien.
"I'm not exactly sure what you mean." said Romano.
"Monogamy is not a natural state in the animal kingdom,
to which man belongs. That is a custom imposed by man,
first through the church and then through law. The
concept of celibacy as imposed by the church is
ludicrous. It is merely a control mechanism sponsored,
as the church would say, by religious truth. The entire
matter has been taken so far away from truth as to
impose great hardship on mankind. So too with monogamy.
It is not part of the natural order or evolutionary way.
Nonetheless, if chosen, that is fine. If practiced that too
is fine, yet things change so dramatically in the needs
of one another, especially after having children, that the
expectations one has when one is married, literally
cannot be met by each other, in a few years. And, so most
enter upon such relationships with hopes and dreams
that are folly. Until they realize that no woman can be all
a man dreams of, nor can any man be all a woman dreams
of, for all time, now is when you must consider such matters
and decide how to deal with changing times,
circumstances and desires." answered Sien.
He went on, "Understand, I am not saying monogamy is
bad. I am not saying don't get married. I am not saying
this 'institution' is a bad thing. I merely want each of you
to know that as you progress through life the personal
needs and desires you have now, change. They are far
different in two years, ten years, fifteen years, for each
of you than they are today. It is important that you know
that today, knowing you will be called upon to adjust your
thinking as you go along. That is why some cultures permit
polygamy. It is accepted on the condition that a man look
after all those with whom he has a physical relationship.
And so it imposes a responsibility on man that can become
heavy. Man must think of where his lustful desires leads
him. On the other hand, it is common for a woman to be
quite fulfilled with the having, raising and looking after
children. Often a man does not understand that, neither
does he willingly understand the work load that job brings.
So, as you go through life, things change. Each must be
sure of their dedication to one another now, in order to
get through all these personal changes that will be
forthcoming. And so, I say to you that one pledge each
of you should make is to first of all trust one another in
spite of circumstances, and secondly, pledge with one
another that you will communicate with each other in
spite of circumstances. If you make these two solemn
pledges you will be able to handle all that will be
attended upon you."
"We will have no trouble making those pledges, and
keeping them. This we know already." said Oomano.
"That is good. It is also good each of you live by higher
law. You transcend the obstacles other young
lovers must face. Your knowledge of the law 'As ye sow,
so shall ye reap.' will keep you well tuned to one another.
It is always a pleasure to see relationships develop
between those who live by higher law. They never
encounter the rocky roads the marriages of men
do." said Sien.
"I am glad to hear that, and I am glad you spoke to us
about the changes that go on in our lives. I should have
known that, witnessing that evolution in relationships of
mankind, but I just never thought about it applying to us.
We will guide and direct our relationship all along the
way, every day, knowing that our thinking, our lives,
our desires will all be changing as we go." responded
Romano.
