According to new research, chimpanzees are our pretty
close cousins. In fact, scientists are now saying that chimps
are more closely related to us than they are to gorillas and
other primates. The new study, published in a May 2003
issue of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy
of Sciences, compared 97 genes from humans, chimps,
gorillas, orangutans, Old World monkeys, and mice. The
researchers say that humans and chimps share 99.4 percent
of their DNA and propose that humans and chimps are
similar enough to be considered branches of the same
genus.

A GOOD IDEA

One of the great challenges in life is to stay focused and not
to go madly off in all directions. It makes so much sense,
doesn't it? How is it, then, that most people do not find it
easy to stay on track with their goals? After all, they
chose their goals, so they must be appealing!
There are many answers to it, no doubt. The important thing
for today is to find your particular answer to that question.
Is it difficult for you to stay focused on your goals? How
much prompting does it take for you to abandon what you are
doing and do something else? What is it about that "something
else" that is so appealing? What is it about your goal that
is not appealing enough, perhaps? Big questions.
Avoidance can be a big issue, can't it? Often we call it
procrastination, however, it really is avoidance. When there
is a task to do, we often find ourselves deciding to clean our
desk, make unnecessary phone calls, or, even counting all the
staples in that little box just to be sure there really are
1,000. It is often a good idea to take stock when this
happens...and I do not mean of those little staples! We want
to do things we love to do. We'll even do some very
unpleasant things to achieve a desired result...if this were
not true, who would undergo cosmetic dentistry or liposuction?
Walt Disney had some good advice. He said, "Get a good idea
and stick with it. Dog it, and work at it until it's done and
done right." So, the point is, if you are focused on what you
REALLY want, you may have to remind yourself that that task
that seems unappealing is really your ticket to your dreams.
Pay for it!
For today, reaffirm your goals. Make sure they truly reflect
what you want. Sit with each of your goals--read it out loud,
close your eyes, see how your body reacts to each. Goals that
truly light you up and/or contribute to your sense of
well-being and peace are the ones to focus on. Keep the others
for another time...or release them completely.

DESKTOPS
I once mentioned minimizing your desktop icons to
make more space. But if you have a lot on there it still
takes a while searching for the one you want. No
problem. Let's create some folders and store your
icons in there.
You may want to print this out.
RIGHT click a blank portion of your Desktop.
Put your mouse cursor over the 'New' item on the
window. A menu appears with 'Folder' at the top. Click
on that little folder. A new folder appears in a new
Flyout, with the name 'New Folder.' Click on it and a
folder icon appears on your desktop. Immediately type
a name. Once your new folder is named, RIGHT
click each Desktop icon you want to move, and drag
it over the top of the new folder. Release the mouse,
and! A context menu appears. Select the option that
says 'Move Here' and click. The icon is moved to the
new folder.
Go through your icons and move them to the new
folder. You can lasso a bunch of them at once if you
want by clicking on a blank area next to them, dragging
your mouse so it crosses their paths, and they'll turn
color as they're selected. Then grab the whole lot
and move them all.
This way you can create folders for your 'Ebooks'
or 'Zipped Files', or anything thing else that creates
more room. So instead of 100 scattered icons, you
can have 10 folders, each one waiting to be opened
up whenever you want to access the stuff inside.

How would you overload or cause your immune
system to malfunction? By using up its supply of
antioxidants at a rate higher than what your body is
supplied. In other words, what you eat doesn't supply
enough nutrients to power the system consistently.
You do that in several ways. We continue to use
antibiotics to "cover" everything. We now realize
that this was just adding more problems. Every
chemical going into your body is seen as an
enemy: a free radical. (This is why you should
not overdo the use of anti-bacterial soaps: most
people have no real need for them.)
A majority of the illnesses that afflict us are related
to negative nutritional factors (a diet high in animal
fat, protein, and cholesterol, and low in fiber), lifestyle
(tobacco smoking, excessive alcohol consumption,
excessive exercise), and the environment (chemical
carcinogens, ozone depletion, air pollution, industrial
toxins).
What can you do to help insure that your immune
system has what it needs in order maintain optimal
health? The answer is very complex.
Most research concludes that the answer depends
strongly on your nutritional and lifestyle choices.
Become aware of the connection amongst all these
factors. Educate yourself about "oxidative stress".

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

He didn't mind this. It was part of the game of soccer, but
they were taking up a lot of energy. He stopped for a
minute and re-energized. Then he tore into the group and
got the ball. For fifteen minutes he was able to keep the
ball away from them.
Then they got on to the system of being behind him as well
as in front. That meant they could knock him off the ball at
will. These kids were clever. They worked together well,
and without communicating, they naturally found out
ways to foil him. The idea thrilled him, that, without
communicating, they worked together to resolve their
difficulties. That would put them in good condition for their
futures. It meant they were following what they were being
told, inside.
Romano observed the group structure. As in all groups
there were the dominant ones and the followers. Yet, in
this group the dominant ones were the older and the
followers were the younger. It did not appear to be
personality issues so much as age and capability issues.
The older dominant ones were always helping out the
younger ones, so they, too, could enjoy the game.
Oomano had taught them well. They were all givers, rather
than takers. It meant their hearts were poised to permit
their commitment to living by higher law.
It is necessary to be a giver to follow the law, because it is
necessary to detach yourself from all you possess, including
the things your ego demands of you. Takers want it all.
They want to own, possess, have all they can get and too
often they care not who they hurt in the process.
Unfortunately physical goods is all they will ever have.
The attitude prevents them from being able to detach and
therefore they are even unable to see through the veil of
simplicity, for fear of losing what they have.
It was clear Oomano had guided and molded the attitudes
of these children in preparation for the day when they would
make the commitment to live by higher law. Romano was
pleased.
He was especially pleased at the changes Oomano had
wrought in his brother and sister. In their former environment,
before their parents died, they were becoming regular street
kids, learning how to fight, take, grab and run. Here, Oomano
was showing them how love, how giving, would better serve
their ends and needs. She was showing them how by giving
up they gained all, how, by loving, they could get more done
and secure better cooperation from others.
Romano's brother and sister had changed remarkably, his
sister the more so. It became clear to Romano that she was
following the example she saw in Oomano. It made Romano
think he should maybe spend more time here with the kids,
giving them a male example to follow as well. Then and
there he made the decision to do so. Besides it would keep
him closer to his dear love.
"That's a good idea, the kids could use your example."
Oomano said from behind him as she put her arms around
him and hugged him.
It surprised Romano. "Where did you come from?" he asked.
"Oh, Riata and I heard you out here playing with the kids,
so we decided to get up. You were making an awful lot of
noise." she replied.
"I'm sorry!" he said, "i wanted to get them out of the house
so they wouldn't wake you, but I guess we got so involved in
the game we paid no attention to the noise we made."
"That's okay. It was a cheery, happy noise. I enjoyed it,
knowing the kids were in good hands." she came to him
again and hugged him, "I love you."
Romano held her close. "I love you, too. I can hardly wait
until we are married. You think Riata can look after the kids
while we are gone?"
"Sure she can and will. We have already talked about that
and she will do fine. After all look what she did with the
orphanage." replied Oomano.
"Oh! I know she is capable. I just don't like to impose on
her. You are very fortunate in having such a wonderful
family. I know your Mom and Dad will help out, too. It's just
that they will have more work to do when we are
away." he said.
"Yeah! But they know that and want to do it for us. They
love each of us dearly and want to do this. We would
certainly do it for them and they know that." answered
Oomano, "Did you eat?"
"No, not yet. I haven't even had a cup of coffee. I came
out here as soon as the kids had finished breakfast and
never thought about eating."
