How can Cinderella dance in glass slippers?
She probably can't. The reason this fairy tale princess
has glass slippers may be due to a translation error.
Hundreds of "Cinderella" stories exist, in many different
cultures, dating back as far as the ninth century. However,
not one of the tales featured glass slippers until
Charles Perrault, in his 1697 anthology of fairy tales,
apparently confused an old French word for "fur" with
a word meaning "glass." In most of the stories, the shoes
are valuable and remarkable, but they're usually fur or
some other wearable material. Perrault's version,
however, is the one on which Disney based its Cinderella
film and the one most of us remember.

Marketing To The Young!

I like doing this column. It has the potential of teaching
me much. In all my marketing on the internet I have not
yet considered the younger set, under the age of twenty.
According to a recent article in eMarketer, the younger
set is a significant market. I include here, as always, an
excerpt to back up what I am saying. Here is an excerpt
from eMarketer of April 15/04.

Kids These Days
15 April 2004
Harris Interactive surveyed US marketing professionals
who concentrate on the youth demographic to find that
the vast majority think the main differences between
young people these days and young people 10 to
15 years ago are related to consumerism.
Over 90% of survey respondents think young people
are powerful consumers and 84% think they are
demanding consumers.
Furthermore, the Harris survey found that 91% of youth
marketers agree that young people are being marketed
to in ways they do not notice. Perhaps that is why
56% describe young people today as "unsupervised"
compared to their counterparts from 10 to 15 years ago.
Harris and Kid Power Xchange surveyed 878 people
working in youth-related fields including youth marketing,
market research, advertising/public relations, media
and the education field.
Not only are young people these days more
consumer-oriented than they were years ago, they
are also online! eMarketer, based on US Census Bureau
figures, finds that there are over 34 million young people
between the ages of three and 17.

It appears the younger generation is worth pursuing, if
you have products that fit. Not only do they represent a
huge market now, they represent what all our future
marketing patterns and procedures will be.
This is not a market to overlook, today. Plan on tailoring

File
Well-assuming you download anything new to your computer
- you'll no doubt come across a "zip file."
When you see "pictures.zip" you know a couple of things. 1)
The file is compressed, and 2) it contains pictures.
Let's say you have taken some digital photos and want to
send them to someone... doing so one by one would take a
long time. But if you were to zip them up into a "zip file"...
they'd be compressed and all in the same package together.
You could then send that single package off by email to
whoever you wish.
In order to unzip, or UN-compress a zip file, you must have
some software installed on your computer that knows how to
unzip. WinZip will do that.

We get so many calls for information on Prostate
Cancer, that we have decided to run this article
again.
The PROSTATE Challenge

Normally cells work in unison to create tissues, organs,
and then systems, and everything is organized and
orderly. In cancer, there is no order and no systematic
growth. The healthy cells are simply taken over by the
cancerous ones. One of the ways to diagnose the cause
of the prostate problem is by the very nature of the growth.
In cancerous cells, the damage is often unnoticed.
Whereas prostatitis has visible signs and painful
symptoms, cancer growth is "silent": without noticeable
pain or warning until it's almost too late. Benign Prostate
Hypertrophy is the non-cancerous/ non-malignant growth.
The discomfort is caused by pressure on the certain areas.
The growth is usually progressive and can also cause
obstruction/blockage, causing urinary tract infections.
"When they finally excised the tumor, they found that it
was close to becoming unencapsulated"
The cancerous growth expands in a very unorganized
manner. It takes over cells and invades other structures.
It crosses barriers and it doesn't stop at anything. The
prostate gland has a covering "capsule" which contains
the contents. When the cancer reaches a certain stage,
it breaks the capsule and is now invades other body
organs. This is called "metastases". If you have come
across the phrase "primary and secondary sites" it
simply means the cancer spread from one "primary"
area...prostate, to the secondary site, often the bones,
and subsequently to other areas. So for Sam, the good
news was that the cancer was contained in the capsule.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

It startled the fire chief. He stood. There was panic in his
eyes, fear on his face. "No-n-n- no!" he stammered.
"Out creating more work are you?" asked Amenti.
The fire chief turned pale and his fears had him on the
verge of collapse.
"Do you not understand the mayor has used you to
accomplish certain personal underhanded things he
wishes to get done so he can have more
money?" asked Amenti.
"You are merely a pawn used by him for his personal
purposes, and are no more important to him than a fly. If
you do not do as he asks he will have you replaced faster
than you can think. He has no loyalty to you whatsoever,
in spite of the fact you were the one who told him of how
perfect things were within the 'circle' you have on your
map in your office." Amenti went on. "For your information,
there will never be a fire within that 'circle'. There will never
be a reason for the police to enter, on the job. There will
never be anything go wrong within your 'circle'."
And he carried on, "I warn you Do Not Permit the police
to fire a bullet into the 'circle'. It will hit a shield and
bounce right back at them to their demise. And you, if you
shall continue with this effort to cause some difficulty
within the 'circle' you, too, will find similar harm and
destruction coming upon you, for such is the nature of
the protection we have. It visits upon the doer that
which he was trying to do."
The fire chief was stunned. Every word had been spoken
with such authority he could hardly believe it. He knew
it was true, but he could hardly believe it was coming
from this youngster, not yet even twenty. There he stood,
young, calm, speaking with authority. It scared the fire
chief, some twenty years older than Amenti.
Amenti vanished, right before the chief's eyes, just
vanished. The chief did not know where he went and
could see him nowhere.
The chief, now much less confident, gradually made his
way back to his office.
There he got a call from home. His house was on fire.
The fire hall had been called, but the house was burning
out of control at this time.
He drove home immediately. By the time he got there the
firemen had the fire out and all appeared to be well,
although a quarter of his house had been burned.
Investigators later learned a glass jar had been left on a
box outside the house. The sun had been shining through
it and just after lunch the dry wood had ignited from the
"hot spot" created by the sun and the jar.
It did not take the chief long to remember the words of
Amenti. Yet he did not feel threatened by Amenti. He did
not feel this was a retribution. He knew who had left that
jar where it was.
He took the rest of the day off, and he and the family
did what they could to adjust to the mess and missing
house. They made plans for repairs.
The next day he went to work as usual. He phoned the
mayor and was curt with his report. "I did my best to set
fire to buildings in the circle. I failed. They will not burn."
and then he hung up the phone, waiting for no further
instructions. He tried to be polite, but he had no intention
of going any further. He had learned his lesson.
A little later in the day he had a call from the police
chief. "What's going on? I just got a call from the mayor.
He says you tried to start a fire and could not. He was
some agitated. He wants me to go into the 'circle' and
cause some trouble. What's up?"
The fire chief explained what had happened. He told the
chief of Amenti's visit and what Amenti had said. The
chief laughed, the implication being that nothing was
more powerful than he and his gun.
The fire chief knew then he would not see his friend again.
His premonition was correct. The following day the police
chief was dead. He had taken a comrade with him into the
'circle'. There he had tried to cause trouble with some of
the citizens. When he was getting nowhere with his
intimidation, he pulled out his weapon. Without thinking
about what the fire chief had said, he pulled the trigger. His
weapon backfired, because, for some reason the barrel
had become plugged. The flash and metal fragments that
resulted from the backfire had entered his head through
an eye. The police chief dropped like a stone and never
drew another breath.
This was reported just as it had happened, by the comrade.
