TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

On how many mattresses did the princess in "The
Princess and the Pea" sleep?

What is the deepest circle of Hell in the "Inferno"?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Was there a real "Mother Goose"?

Probably not. Elizabeth Goose, who lived in
Massachusetts in the late 1600's, is credited by
some with the nursery rhymes read to us as children.
However, most of those rhymes existed before her
time in the form of satirical poems and drinking songs.
Some were based on actual events or characters.
Charles Perrault, a Frenchman, published a collection
of these rhymes in 1697 and an illustration accompanying
the text showed an old woman telling stories, with the
words "Mother Goose" appearing behind her. The book
was eventually published in England and the
United States and more rhymes were added with
each new publication. It wasn't until the 1800's that a
relative of Mrs. Goose claimed the stories originated
with Elizabeth.

Did the Brothers Grimm write or collect the fairy tales in
their famous volume?

Both. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm gathered original oral
tales primarily from the growing German middle class in
the early nineteenth century. The tales they published,
however, were substantially altered, with significant
changes in characters and meaning. The tales, therefore,
were not simply oral tales set down in print. Nor were they
original literary creations, such as the tales penned by
Denmark's Hans Christian Andersen.

How to Grow Your Business -
Online and Offline
by Michele Miller

Will they beat a path to your door?
Will customers be lining up or calling
upon you if you don?t market your business
and let people know you exist?

Most likely not. It?s a shame, but that?s
usually how it is. Putting out a sign or
putting up a website, doesn?t bring you
many customers on its own.

Getting business cards printed and telling
friends and family about your business is the
norm. More in depth marketing can be an
intimidating and scary thing, and sometimes
people shy away from it, hoping their other
efforts will do the trick. However, marketing
your business doesn?t have to be intimidating,
and you don?t have to cold call just to get
customers. There?s so many other ways to
put your business in the spotlight. You just
have to get creative.

If you have an offline business, it?s a good
idea to have a website even if you don?t sell
anything through that site. For instance,
on the bottom of those business cards, put your
website address. When you give out cards or
leave them in restaurants etc. you are not
always there in person to discuss your business
or to sell the benefits of your business to people.
Anyone interested can go to your website to learn
more about you and what you offer, increasing your
chances of adding that person to your customer list.
If you don?t know how to design a website, find
someone to do it for you. It?s well worth it.
It doesn?t have to be anything fancy, just clean,
professional looking, and easy to navigate.

If you give people a way to learn more about you
without obligating them to do business with you,
you will surely get more customers.

If you have an online business, you could
try marketing it offline as well. The following
is great for both types of business: Get a
professional magnetic sign made and put it on
your vehicle. Let the world know you own this
business. Make it easy to contact you. Offer
something special, like a 10% discount if you
mention my car sign when you call!

Don?t forget about advertising your business in
newspapers or magazines designed for your niche.
That?s a great place to include your web address
and telephone number also.

Advertise your business on your local radio
station, or write/call the radio station and
see if they are interested in doing an
interview with you. Most people think that they
wouldn?t be interested in ?my little business?,
but you will be surprised. These people are always
looking for fresh news and announcements.

Ask people for referrals. Let everyone know you
are expanding your business.

With an online business there are various other
ways to market your business, such as announcements,
leaving your signature on chat forums, search engines,
PPC, paid advertising, articles, viral marketing etc.
So even if your business is offline, you can promote
it online using these methods also.

Being successful with any business, whether it is
online or offline is really down to how you promote
it and how much effort you are willing to put in.
Always be on the lookout for fresh ideas, and keep
records of your marketing efforts and the results
you get. If you work your business you will continue
to work and be successful, I?m sure of it!

COMPUTER TIPS - - -
-------------------------

"Worm"

A worm is a self-replicating virus that does not
alter files. Instead, it sets up in your memory, and
begins to duplicate itself. Worms use parts of an operating
system that are automatic and usually invisible to the user. It
is common for worms to be noticed only when their
uncontrolled replication consumes system resources, slowing
or halting other tasks.

If your system is running slower and slower, maybe you have a
worm. How would you find out? Run a virus scan. Norton,
McAfee, or InoculateIT should do the trick. But my best
recommendation by far is to download 'AVG' for free at
http://grisoft.com

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -

We get so many calls for information on Prostate
Cancer, that we have decided to run this article
again.

The PROSTATE Challenge
Ignorance MAY Be Bliss,
But It Can Also Harm You Significantly.
PART 8 of 10

"and we both know, at that point there isn't much they
can do but radiation, hope and a lot of prayers."

Other choices are already listed above. It is very important
that these choices be made with the support of partners.
Not only will your life and health be involved, but so will
theirs. It may not be the most enthusiastic conversation,
but many wives are very understanding. And you must
realize that any conversation with any member of the
medical community will be done in confidence.

"Since you write medical articles for The Pebble and they
have such a large readership, could you explain that all
men over the age of 45 should be checked for this?"

---- For a short while a home test kit for PSA levels (taking a
finger-prick blood sample) was available, but I don't believe
it is any longer. (Maybe an increased demand will bring
it back.) Then the next best thing, if you are over 45 for
other men (40 for African American men) is to visit your
family doctor regularly for the Digital Rectal Examination
DRE. This is quick, and, yes, a little undignified,
but effective.

I know it's not pleasant, but it beats the alternative. I also
realize that most men experience some pain or discomfort
when this is present but if I was totally unaware so are a
lot of other men. I've talked to several friends but most look
at me like I'm crazy when I make the suggestion. You know,
it's a man thing. "No one is putting their finger up my
rectum. That's disgusting".

---- No one enjoys being in an undignified position,
but it is so much better to find these problems early
on. Research continues to prove that early intervention
saves MANY lives.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.

Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.

The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.

The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

There was excitement in the air! Sonora and her folks were
preparing to leave on a visit to Romano's and Oomano's
wedding. Sonora was quite used to traveling, but her folks
hadn't been anywhere since Eloise got married. They were
a little nervous.

The old folks had no "dress up" clothes, So Sonora outfitted
them just before they left. She knew her folks favorite colors
and styles and by the time they were ready, both Kenyata
and Mombudo were pleased and proud of how they looked.

The time had finally arrived. They could do no more to stall.
Sonora made sure the fire was out, "Okay, you two. No more
stalling. Le't go."

It was early early morning in Africa, where they were and
near late in the evening in Matto Grosso, South America
where Oomano and Romano lived.

In the blink of an eye they were there. Kenyata and Mombudo
could never get used to this travel. They never understood it.
However, they trusted their daughter, and traveled with her.

They touched down in the yard where the kids usually played.
Riata, Oomano and Romano knew they were there and came
out of the house.

After hugs all around they led the guests inside the house.
Abetta and Miguele had not known why the kids had gone
outside. When they first saw Kenyata and Mombudo they
became animatedly enthusiastic. "Kenyata! Mombudo! Sonora!
It is good to see you!" said Abetta running to meet them. They
all exchanged hugs, even the stoic Mombudo.

Miguele was right behind Abetta and while he hugged the
ladies he shook Mombudo's hand.

"Come, come! Please sit down for a coffee." said Abetta.

While Mombudo was not against coffee, he did not spend
much time sitting in houses, on chairs, at tables. It was
foreign to him. He stood and looked at the table and chairs
for a long time, until, finally, Miguele walked over, pulled
out a chair and sat down. Then Miguele pulled back the
chair next to him and patted on the seat indicating to
Mombudo he could come and sit in that chair. Mombudo
came.

The others sat and the conversation immediately became
louder and animated. These folk had not visited with one
another for such a long time they had some catching
up to do.

Abetta and Miguele were like Kenyata and Mombudo.
They did not fully understand how the girls traveled, but
they went anyway. The older adults had much in common
as to their way of doing things, and, therefor, they had
a good deal of mutual understanding.

The entire evening was spent in conversation. Each
family had much to share. They were very close, mostly
because of the love and camaraderie they experienced
at Eloise's and Mazunta's wedding.

Sonora, Riata, Oomano and Romano sat back and
enjoyed the thrill and excitement shown by their parents.
It was always a joy to see those who work so hard in
their lives, come to a place where they really enjoy the
company in their presence. It was almost "spiritual" in
it's meaning. It was very clear these people loved and
liked one another.

The older adult conversation went on, nearly to the
exclusion of Sonora, Riata, Oomano and Romano. The
kids didn't mind, but the adults were embarrassed
when they took notice of it.

The wedding was not going to be for three days, but
Sonora wanted to have her folks here long enough to
adjust to the time difference. If she hadn't caused that to
happen her folks would not enjoy the wedding near
so much.

Tomorrow there would be many more guests arrive. The
family was ready for them. They had built huts in the
area they had decided earlier, and it appeared almost
like a separate village in the back yard.

As the night approached midnight Everyone went outside.
It was still warm and the sky was clear. The abundance
of stars in the sky almost spoke of happiness. They
sparkled and shone from their heavenly loft as if to bless
all who took time to see.

They slowly make their way over to "the village", as they
called it. There was no purpose to their step, just a casual
drifting in that direction while carrying on conversation.
Soon they had arrived.

Romano lit the fire he had already prepared, and they
all sat down around the fire, just like Kenyata and
Mombudo did at home. They conversed until the wee
hours of the morning, having a wonderful time.

business.

It is a way of seeing some of the good things and not so good
things that happen to us along the way.

TODAY'S REPORT:

I had no time to work this morning, on regular stuff that is,
because I was on the phone for nearly all of it. It is pretty
terrific when folks are excited about what you do. We have
a client for whom we designed a flyer for him to circulate
around his business area. This is not a cheap flyer. It is on
glossy paper, and is process color on both sides of the
paper. Yet there is no question it will do the job. The
reason he is excited is that he attended a meeting on the
weekend where there were several marketing people.
They had nothing but praise for it, and want one like it
themselves. Wow!

HA! HA! HA!

A couple had been married for 25 years and was also celebrating
their 60th birthdays. During the celebration, a fairy appeared
and said that because they had been such a loving couple all
those years, she would give them one wish each.

The wife wanted to travel around the world. The fairy waved
her wand, and poof! The woman had tickets in her hand.

Next, it was the husband's turn. He paused for a moment,
and then said shyly, "Well, I'd like to have a woman 30 years
younger than me."

The fairy picked up her wand and poof! He was 90!
