TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
Why was Samuel Coleridge's famous poem,
"Kubla Khan," left unfinished?
Why do cats like to rub against people's legs?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What was the first novel?
"The Tale of Genji", a Japanese work from the early
eleventh century, is considered by many scholars to
be the world's first full novel. The novel was written
by a woman - Murasaki Shikibu, or Lady Murasaki.
What is the "Catch-22" in Joseph Heller's novel?
"Catch 22" has come to mean a problematic situation
for which the only solution is denied by a circumstance
inherent in the problem. The original "Catch-22," in
Joseph Heller's 1961 novel of the same name, is the
catch that prevents a US Air Force pilot in World War II
from asking to be grounded on the basis of insanity.
The pilot knows that military regulations permit insane
pilots to be grounded and not forced to fly further
dangerous bombing missions. However, the regulation
prevents airmen from escaping bombing missions by
pleading insanity by stating that any airman rational
enough to WANT to be grounded cannot possibly be
insane and therefore is fit to fly. From the novel: a man
"would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he
didn't, but if he was sane, he had to fly them. If he flew
them he was crazy and didn't have to: but if he didn't
he was sane and had to."

How Beets Changed My Life
by Sharon Davis
If there was one thing I hated as a kid, it was beets.
I couldn't stand the look of them. Or the taste of them...
although, I'm not sure I remember ever actually eating
one. I just knew I would hate them.
And so, my whole life I've held to the belief that I hate
beets. Until recently. I was at one of those huge salad
bar restaurants and there they were. My husband
loves beets, and he was heaping them onto his plate.
"Come on, try one. You've never even had one, have
you?", he cajoled.
So, I did the unthinkable. I ate one.
And it was good! To think I'd been missing out all this
time just because of a stubborn opinion I'd formed
as a kid.
So what does this have to do with working at home?
My point here is that I once felt the same way about
home business opps.
When I first quit my job to stay at home with my kids,
I wanted only to find a telecommute job. No business
opps. No Network Marketing. No way. For reasons that
escape me now, I had no desire to start a business. In
fact, I had a negative impression of business opps in
general. I thought most of them were thinly veiled pyramid
schemes (even though I'm not sure I really knew then
what constituted a pyramid scheme).
Eventually though, I succumbed to one of those
"Moms Needed!" and I signed up with a --gasp-- Network
Marketing company! I liked their product, which had
educational value for kids and I actually made a little
bit of money. In fact, this is where I got the money to
start my current business, 2Work-At-Home.com.
In the beginning, my husband was beyond skeptical (yet
this was the very same person who convinced me to eat
beets....), but after a year of toiling my efforts were
really starting to pay off. I was able to pay bills. I was
even able to start getting some of those extras that
we wanted.
So, here I was a home business owner, even though
I had started out with the firm and non-negotiable goal
of securing a telecommute job. And you know what?
I think I'm much happier running my own business than
I ever would have been working for a company.
Who'd have thought that beets could change
someone's life?

COMPUTER TIPS - - -
-------------------------
Computer CD Player
The CD player is opened following this path: Start
Then Programs then Accessories go to Entertainment
and to CD Player. It's pretty smart, and knows if you've
popped a music or data CD in the slot. Open the drawer
that holds the CD and slip one in. It should automatically
start playing. Assuming you have speakers and sound
card of course.
If your CD doesn't start playing when you insert it,
check to see that the Auto insert notification checkbox
is indeed checked. Visit your friendly CD-ROM Properties
dialog box for all the info you'll need. You can do it right
now by simultaneously pressing the Windows Logo key
and the Pause key. When the System Properties dialog
box appears, click the plus sign next the CD class
to reveal your actual CD player. Highlight your CD's name, and
click the Properties button. All of the properties surrounding
your particular player will be displayed.
The stuff that really matters is listed on the Settings tab of
the CD Properties dialog box. This is where you adjust the
settings.

The PROSTATE Challenge
Ignorance MAY Be Bliss,

PART 10 of 10
Additional Preventive Measures For Prostatitis
If you have prostatitis, make sure you complete each
cycle of antibiotics. They could well prevent the next
infection from getting a foothold.
Avoid spicy, foods, alcohol, caffeine: watch what they
do to your digestive system. Foods with cooked tomatoes
and soybean products may also be helpful.
Warm baths may alleviate stress and help soothe the
discomfort. Eat lots of high fibre foods and drink lots of
water. Both will prevent constipation. This can be very
painful with a tender or inflamed prostate gland.
Discuss pain medication with your doctor.
Check out any medicines in case they add to the
problem. Antihistamines may worsen the effects.
Cut down on beverages just before going to bed. When
you have the urge to pass your water, do so. Waiting for
the convenient time will may only cause more back-pressure
problems. You may find sitting down is much more
relaxing than standing up: therefore less painful. Please
practice good personal hygiene, such as washing your
penis frequently to prevent salt build up from the urine,
and hand washing for general hygiene is
absolutely necessary.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------
Just as things were beginning to settle down, later in
the afternoon, just before supper, along came some more
company.
Eloise, Mazunta, little AlliAnn, Boolanga, Karmuz and
the kids and David, Pamela, the kids and Mae Wiley, all
appeared on the lawn just in front of the shaded patio.
This time there was really a lot of excitement. The group
was getting larger and larger.
"Where is your Mom and Dad?" Oomano asked of Mazunta.
"We all thought they had not been invited." he responded,
calmly.
"Oh! My goodness. I did not mean for that to happen. Will
they come if you go get them?" Oomano asked.
"You bet they will. They would like to see all these people
again." said Mazunta.
"Please! Go get them. We all want them to be here, and
convey my apologies." said Oomano.
"Thank you, Oomano. They will enjoy that." he said and
was away.
Thirty minutes later Mazunta once more arrived, only this
time he brought his parents, Honero and Aniata Arionanga.
The Henrys had brought the boys, including Billy Hendricks.
The only guests that had not yet arrived were
Sandra Geddes from Australia, and Amenti and Reno
from the orphanage.
Riata put out a call to all three of them and before long
the group was complete.
There were nearly fifty people there, when you counted
all the kids too.
It was terrific. The joy, the camaraderie, the pure pleasure
in meeting old and dear friends made all hearts burst with
joy.
Miguele and Mombudo had taken the Henrys, the Strikers
and others over to "the village" to show them their huts.
Romano had built up the firewood in preparation for
another evening fire.
Under the roof of the patio the tables were kept full of all
manner of wonderful food, for all to eat. Like at the
orphanage the food never diminished, no matter how
much was eaten. There was variety and quantity of both
food and beverages.
The kids loved this. They had never had so many to play
with, so much company, nor so much fun.
Romano took Amenti aside, and the pair talked.
"Have you spoken with the kids? And have you set up
schedules so some of them can come to the wedding
and festivities?" asked Romano.
"Yes, Mr. Romano. We are all set and everyone is happy
with the arrangements. We will stretch our usual time on
shift from two hours to four hours. and change shifts as we
need. We can actually begin any time you would like
Mr. Romano." answered Amenti.
"Amenti, the wedding is not until the day after tomorrow,
but the festivities have begun. If we start now then all the
kids will have more than one chance to be around. That
would be great. Why don't you bring the first bunch over
now and we'll just keep it going for three or four days.
Would that be okay?" asked Romano.
"Mr. Romano that would be terrific. I'll get at it
immediately." and Amenti disappeared.
Soon the yard was filled with even more visitors. The
kids from the orphanage had arrived. They fit right in with
everyone there and the party was on.
The kids soon took up a restricted game of soccer, restricted
because there were so many people around. That did not
bother them though it was just fun to have company who
wanted to play.
The adults once in a while got in the game long enough to
kick the ball, then leave, but it all added spice and reverie
to the game.
In this group of people all were recognized as people. The
kids were not treated as kids, but as people. Of course they
conducted themselves in a grown up manner, it was a natural
result of being treated that way.
