Below is a direct excerpt from eMarketer Daily for April 23/04.
It is interesting the things that happen around the world.
Pirate Purge
More than 100 people were identified as engaging in
music, movie and software piracy as a result of undercover
operations conducted by the FBI and the US Justice
Department. Over 100 searches were conducted in 27
US states and 10 countries in a 24-hour time span,
resulting in the seizure of more than 200 computers
with a combined $50 million worth of pirated material.
No arrests have been announced. In addition to the US,
searches were made in Belgium, Denmark, France,
Germany, Hungary, Israel, the Netherlands, Singapore,
Sweden and the UK.
Shanghai Surprise
Chinese Web users in Shanghai who use Internet
cafÈs are being monitored by video cameras and
software used to detect whether they are looking at
sites the government forbids. Shanghai has 1,325
Internet cafes, all of which will be under surveillance
by June 2004. Users must log in with their ID numbers,
or passports if they are foreign, so that if they view
pornographic or ìsuperstitiousî sites, a report will be
generated to a government supervisory center. Exactly
600 volunteers will periodically fan out into the cafÈs
to ensure regulations are being met, and to ensure
that children are not using their parents ID numbers
(also a major reason for the video cameras). Violations
of the rules will likely result in action taken against
the Internet cafÈs and/or the users.
Gateway to Profitability?
Computer and consumer electronics maker Gateway
is considering halving its workforce in an attempt to
return to profitability. Such a move would translate into
doing away with 2,000 jobs. The company has previously
made layoffs, including some related to the closing of its
188 retail stores in April, and is also considering other
ways to save money, including management
restructuring and product line-up changes. Gateway
saw a loss of $526 million in 2003, up from
$309 million in 2002.

Wallpaper
Let's change the wallpaper on your computer.
And let's use a photograph instead of a
graphic. Okay, use a graphic if you want. But we'll explain
how to snag a photo off the web and use it.
Go to a site that has some great photos. Just type "Free
Images" into your favorite Search Engine. When you get
there, find a Copyright-free photo that appeals to you.
Now, right click the image you want to use. From the popup
menu, select 'Set as Wallpaper' and click. The image will
replace whatever is on your desktop, and be centered. I don't
mean your icons will be replaced, but that any current
wallpaper you have will be replaced.
If you want to tile this picture Here's how.
Right click your desktop then.
Click properties then.
The Display Properties window appears. The Background tab
should be automatically selected. If it's not, click it once.
In the Wallpaper box, you'll see "Internet Explorer
Wallpaper" sleeted. There's a drop down box titled 'Display'
to the right.
Click the drop down box, and choose 'Tile.'
Click OK.
The photo will be tiled, covering your entire screen, instead
of being centered. If you want to experiment with something,
try selecting the 'Stretch' option.

Who Controls You?
You Or Your Stress: MAKE It Your Decision
PART 4 of 4
This removes a lot of your stress. This means you no
longer have to check up on the other person. You don't
have to have a "replacement solution", for which you may
be criticized later on. Until people really believe that you
mean what you say, they will probably still want to pass
along the blame for their poor judgement to you. However
once you are recognized as making only decisions for
yourself, this will cease. A gentle reminder that you are
can no longer be held responsible for their behavior or
actions may be necessary until they "get it". In the same
vein, not criticizing or giving unasked-for advice works
the same way. Only when people really seek out your
help, will you need to think about their situation.
As you know, stress causes many, many illnesses to
get worse, so any way to reduce this problem should
be considered and undertaken seriously. It may well
save your life.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

said Riata, with that calm, powerful, persuasive manner
of hers.
Maria was going to refuse, but Riata had her persuaded
before she could get out any objection. She joined the
group. Riata introduced her.
Maria was nearly melted away. Every hand of greeting
she took was filled with and broadcasting love energy unto
her person. Her soul sang. This was an experience she
had never felt before. She became completely engrossed
in the uplifting of the love she was given.
Within minutes they made the decision to return once
more to Miguele's and Abetta's home. Not all the guests
had decided to come with them and the group wanted
to get back to those who remained at home.
In the flash of an eye they were again at Miguele's.
Much conversation went on about what the group had
seen. They chatted about that for a long while. The kids
listened intently. There was no game today. The kids
were becoming more involved with the group and wanted
to hear everything that was going on.
In this case the kids were not told they "should be seen
and not heard", they were welcome participants. That
made the day more fun for everyone.
There were, of course, no ordinary kids. These kids, all
of them, had long been tutored in the ways of living by
higher law. They were considerably advanced.
Maria Sanchez felt out of place for a while. Then Sandra
took her under her wing and the pair of them got along
well. They actually became good "buddies" and Maria
spent the rest of the day with Sandra.
As with all groups in a get together, eventually the men
gravitated to talking with the other men and the ladies
moved toward talking with the other ladies. It is a natural
occurrence, though not promoting of equality and
togetherness.
Ben Striker was a center point for many. Not only was
he a big man, but his voice, long used to speaking with
authority as a policeman, was strong and authoritative.
Ben was a natural leader and folks just naturally
drifted toward him.
Sam and the others who lived by higher law saw this
and were amused. There were no jealousies among
them. Each had their talents and each was strong enough
within themselves they did not require the group recognize
them. No one, including Ben Striker, was out to make
points here. Each was simply enjoying themselves and
Ben was being only himself.
He did, however, enjoy the kids and fooled around with
them. He and Helen had not had children and Ben
missed that. So he ended up the "Pied Piper" for the
kids for the day.
There was other natural pairing going on as well.
Oomano, Riata, Sonora, Pam Wiley and Eloise all
seemed to have things in common as did Romano and
David Wiley. Mae Wiley, Alewka, Helen, Sue, Abetta,
Hilda White, Kenyata and Karmuz all gathered together.
And Jim White, Sam, Boolanga, Mombudo, Mazunta,
Honero and the men of that age, including Miguele
soon ended up in one spot together.
It all seemed a natural grouping as happens in such
gatherings. They all got back together again at central
events like mealtime, and at the evening fire, but here,
as everyone was mingling and talking these groups
seemed to stick together more and more.
It was soon supper time and all had a wonderful meal.
Mazunta had gone to the village and brought the
drummers. They were well fed and ready to drum.
They slowly and quietly drifted off toward the fire circle,
set up their drums and got ready to begin the evening.
The fire began early, for the following day was the
wedding, and all wanted to be fresh for the ceremony.
The drums began. At the nightly fire these drums were
not the kind of drumming that soon became irritable.
They were low, soft and emanated a cadence that
almost mesmerized the listener. Even neighbors came
to lean on the fence and listen.
The drums began slowly, subtly, quietly. They would
work their way into the hearts of the listeners before the
listener was aware. They came on slowly enough that
soon it was considered a "natural" noise, like the very
noises of the jungle.
