How To Keep Your Profits On Course
by John J. Taylor
Have you ever flown an airplane? Have you ever watched a
pilot as he flies from one airport to another? Would you be
able to guess what percentage of the flight is spent exactly
"on course"?
This may be a surprise to you, but an airplane flying
between two points spends about ninety percent of the flight
time off course! This is simply because of the influence on
the plane by the wind and the external air pressure.
To stay on course the pilot has to constantly monitor his
instruments to check his altitude and his compass bearing;
he must then make minor adjustments to compensate for the
effects that the air pressure and the wind are having on the
speed, altitude and direction of the plane.
What's that got to do with me making a profit? You might
ask. Well, I'm glad you asked. You see, if you want a
successful online business you must take into account a
number of different factors that can influence your ability
to make profitable sales.
What effect are your competitors having on your business? Is
the economy buoyant or sluggish? Is the demand for your
products and services increasing or decreasing? How
effective are your advertising campaigns? How effective are
your Pay Per Click campaigns?
Just like a pilot must monitor his instruments to stay on
course, so must you monitor your sales and marketing
activities to ensure you are on track to make a profit.
Reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness of your
advertisements, your sales copy, your ecommerce system and
the other critical elements within your entire sales process
will allow you to identify strengths and weaknesses. You
will then have the knowledge that will enable you to
capitalize upon your strengths and to address your
weaknesses.
Testing and tracking is a critical sales and marketing
activity and something that you must focus on if you are to
steer a profitable online course.

Objects
An object is
something that can be expected to behave in a particular
manner. The icons on your desktop are objects, and you know
how they behave.
You double click, and a program loads. Every time. You know
what to expect when you perform the double click.
Objects are representations of other programs or parts of
programs. For example, an object may be an icon, folder, file,
a disk drive, a printer, or even a network connection. When
you double click on an object, you can expect a certain
response from it.
Objects generally have properties associated with them. You
can modify many of the characteristics of an object. Just use
the Properties sheet for behavior modification.
Many objects,
when right clicked, will display a menu with the word
"Properties" on it. Click the Properties item and you'll be
treated with some customization options for the object.

Headlines & Stress - A Simple Filtering System
That Might Help You Deal With Health News Headlines
PART 3 of 5
In the long run, will this headline really matter to you?
Probably not, but it does catch you off guard...and that now
leaves you unprepared and maybe a bit more vulnerable to stress.
Before you go into panic mode and feel your heart racing, you
need a lot more information and it won't come from these
articles. So avoid the headlines if at all possible...or try my
simple "filters". This is similar to the filter on your email
program. It removes unwanted information and takes it away to a
remote area (delete bin). Here is how it works. We all have
built-in systems of desires: likes...and dislikes. Long ago, I
discovered that a "like" is something you would be good at if
you developed this behavior or characteristic. A "dislike" is
something you're not going to be good at. So I suggest you
"don't go there". It's too time-consuming to make your bad
habits into good ones. (Use the time to become better at what
you like.) Who said you had to be perfect at everything? So know
what you like. Make it a point to really learn your "likes".
Then commit to doing and having more of those.
Next, discover what you don't like. Commit to eliminating those
and then preventing them from entering your life. Make a pact
with yourself not to violate this new set of rules that provides
you with such powerful peace of mind. I guarantee you will feel
much more in control and relaxed. Be polite, but be adamant that
no one will get past this protective wall by imposing their
rules on you.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

As if by some gravitational pull everyone slowly drifted
into their places. The guests seemed automatically to
form two separate groups, one on each side of an aisle
that formed as they took their places.
Abetta and the kids were up front on one side and the
kids from the orphanage were up front on the other.
Riata and Romano's sister, along with Eloise were all at
the back, being the lead in a procession in front of Oomano
and her father, Miguele.
Romano, Mazunta, and Romano's brothers stood up
front already awaiting the procession of the ladies.
Sien, as a silent director of the activities, stood front
and center, facing the group.
He had commenced the wedding when it was clear the
representative from the city was there, with all the forms
that needed to be signed, pursuant to local law. He had
been set up at a table, where he had room to spread out,
and where, at the appointed time, Romano and Oomano
would be seated to sign the forms.
The family had arranged for bouquets of flowers to be
arranged in a line that traveled out on each side of Sien.
The aroma they were giving off was just this side of
heavenly.
The drummers remained for as long as Mazunta wanted
them. They were not only loyal followers of Mazunta and
Eloise, they wanted to be a part of this wedding. They
remembered well the events of Mazunta's and Eloise's
wedding, and knew this wedding was not just a wedding
where two people became married. They knew well these
two were masters of living by higher law, and their
wedding would undoubtedly be different in some, maybe
many, ways from the usual.
They also stayed because they had been asked to play
for the wedding, which they now began.
They started with a slow, almost inaudible beat that very
slowly built to a steady cadence that would enable the
rhythm of one walking, in much the same and mysterious
way bagpipes can enliven a group of marching men.
Oomano's emotions were getting the best of her, this day.
She had tears welling up in her eyes. The significance of
this event was hitting her hard. She knew she wanted to
marry Romano, yet this day, this moment was the culmination
of many months of planning. It also meant her lifestyle would
change, that she would no longer be living with her Mom
and Dad. As a grown woman that much she could take,
yet her emotional insides were raising a little trouble. The
head says and knows one thing, the heart, or emotions
sometimes have trouble catching up.
The impact of the day was not lost on Miguele either. This
was his firstborn. He loved her very much, more than he
could explain with words. This day meant she would be
leaving the nest to be with another man. He liked and loved
Romano. He had no problem with the two of them marrying,
but this was a change for him, Miguele, too. His heart and
his emotions rushed to the surface as he saw tears in
his daughter's eyes.
"Oh, Daddy. I love you so much. I don't know how I'm going
to get through this day. Thank you for being my Dad." and
Oomano put her arms around her Father's neck and she
hugged him, hard, sobbing all the while.
Miguele, too, was shedding tears. Yet his heart was so
proud of his daughter he really came close to popping
buttons off his shirt. The intensity of his emotion was like
none other he had ever experienced, with the possible
exception of the day Eloise came over and left him the truck,
along with much in the way of food, clothing and an instant
repair and clean up of the house.
He, then, had let his daughters go with Eloise. They had
learned to live by higher law and so did the man she was
about to marry. His emotions were overwhelming and every
cell in his body radiated the love and pride he felt this day.
And the drums became louder, the cadence insisting.
Miguele pushed his daughter away, still holding her by
the shoulders. "Are you ready, my precious one?" he
asked gently.
"Yes, Papa." that was her special and private name for her
Father, the one she used at times of tenderness. She gave
him one more quick hug and turned to face the aisle.
Oomano gave a nod to Romano's little sister, who turned
down the aisle and began a slow walk in time with the
drums. Riata came over and gave Oomano a tearful and
loving hug, then quickly took up her spot as second in the
procession.
Eloise came over and gave both Oomano and Miguele a
hug, broadcasting a powerful beam of energy unto each
of them. They knew they were loved. Then Eloise took her
place in the procession.
Oomano and Miguele took up the rear, with Oomano
holding her Father's arm as they walked slowly past the
guests. Oomano looked at as many as she could. She was
so intensely happy they had each come.
Then they were there, standing in front of Romano. He took
her hand from her Father, who lingered a moment, then,
smiling, let his daughter go.

HA! HA! HA!
Rev. Dr. Jordan was anxious about his son's college
examination and requested him to telegraph the results.
The boy sent the following telegram, "Hymn 342, fifth
verse, last two lines."
Looking it up in the church hymnal, the father found
these words,
"Sorrow vanquished, labor ended, Jordan passed."
