In what geologic era did man first appear?
Humans started showing up in the Pleistocene epoch,
which began about 2.5 million years ago and ended
about 10,000 years ago.
Can organs and soft tissues become fossilized?
Apparently so. North Carolina scientists found the first
dinosaur specimen with a fossilized heart. A CT scan of
the fossil dinosaur's chest revealed the heart, according
to paleontologist Dale Russell of the North Carolina
Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. The
three-dimensional images show two ventricles and
the aorta, Russell said. The fossil dinosaur is a member
of a group called Thescelosaurus, which means
"marvelous lizard."

The quest for new search features continues with the
latest news that Yahoo! has launched a beta version of
a tool that's designed to search the Web for
information that can be shared, edited, and reused.
Yahoo! dubs the tool the Yahoo! Search for Creative
Commons. It's a useful tool for those who dabble with
online content.
Creative Commons is a non-profit group that provides
copyrights for creative work. The group offers a
voluntary "some rights reserved" copyright. Yahoo!'s
Creative Commons tool essentially limits Web searches
to content published by authors who encourage consumers
to share or reuse their content under specified
conditions. The content can come from books, poems,
reports, lyrics, photos, and other creative works. The
tool will search the Web for such content and in most
cases, return content with a complete copyright. The
copyright can be applied to nearly any form of creative
content.
Copyrights for content found online usually involve
getting the author's permission for copying or reusing.
The Creative Commons license offers a more flexible
copyright. Yahoo! says it will clearly specify content
licensed through Creative Commons so that users don't
have to contact the author for rights.

Your Immune System: How It Serves You
And Why You Need To Keep It Healthy
PART 1 of 4
The Immune System is a series of protective mechanisms
created in your body. It keeps internal
(pathogens/disease-causing) and external
(foreign bodies) invaders from affecting your everyday
life. (These invaders are called "free radicals".)
It is made up of a variety of defense mechanisms
including antibodies (via the Inflammatory Process)
which have very specific functions. We don't often think
in terms of these, but the skin and digestive tract (mucous
membranes, saliva, stomach juices), spleen etc., play
very important roles.)
A healthy Immune System has an abundant amount
of anti-oxidants (along with other elements.) These are
received through a well balanced, complete,
nutrient-rich diet.
Here is a very simplistic example and explanation of
the "inflammatory process". You step on a nail.
Immediately the body recognizes this as an abnormal
"invasion" and sends out the inflammatory process to
neutralize the invader. In this case, it would be an
increase of fluid, including large amounts of white
blood cells. This fluid will remain there until the
healing is complete or until some other process
(antibiotics) takes over. This volume causes its own
problems as the pressure causes pain and warmth.
And when this process is also active in places like
the ear, brain, or eye, because of limited space, it
will cause additional problems.

and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.

"Gee, Eloise, I never thought about that
either, but I can see what you are saying. Here we
go around talking about Jesus like someone to
follow but none of us has paid any attention to
what he really taught. We have paid attention to
what the church has taught but not to what Jesus
taught. I want to think on that. What do we do if
we want to talk some more on this?"
"You mean how do you reach us?"
"Yes."
"Just hold a picture of us in your mind and,
again in your mind, call us. We, or one of us will
come."
"Now wait a minute, Eloise," Mary was getting
really into the thoughts and ideas. At the present
moment she was somewhat haughty, "you mean the
church has been teaching us all wrong?"
"Mary, that is a conclusion you are coming to.
What I am trying to say is that we are to follow
the teachings of Jesus. You can get all worked up
and angry if you want. I am not trying to provoke
an argument. If you think the church has been
giving you the wrong teaching then that is
something you must deal with. All men in all
religions, Moslem, Jew, Buddhist, all, have been
given the lessons and similarly their teachers
appear to have concentrated on that part that will
keep them in the fold. I say to you the law, 'As
ye sow, so shall ye reap ...' will find them out
and deal with them. You can get yourself all lost
in temper if you wish, or, you can look at doing
what Jesus told you to do."
"But I have kids to raise. I must ensure they
get the right information."
"That would be a good idea."
"Eloise, I'm not kidding. I want to find the
truth."
"Mary, the only truth for you will come from
your insides. Your Maker lives within you and is
only too ready to show you the way. First, though,
you will have to deal with this idea about Jesus,
and about the idea of whether you are getting the
right information from the church or not. They are
likely to become somewhat vehement if put them on
the spot, so be prepared. If you ask them about
doing what Jesus said to do you will undoubtedly
find yourself in a testy conversation. The leader
of any church, after all, is the one who is
trained. They will take it as a personal affront
if you try to talk about things they really know
little about."
"What do you mean know little about. They are
the backbone of our religious convictions. They
taught us."
"Yes, Mary. However, they have not taught you
how to live like Jesus told you in Matthew 6: 19 -
31, have they? Neither have they taught you the
real truth behind what Jesus taught in Matthew 21:
21 & 22. They will give you a watered down version
of that."
"Eloise, you keep saying they teach us wrong."
"Mary, know this. What I am saying, and all I
am saying is that for us to find truth we must go
inside and seek, knock, ask for answers from our
Maker. There we shall be taught to do what Jesus
told us to do. You can think what you want about
any institution that teaches things other than
that. All I am saying is for you to follow what
Jesus told you to do."
"But that seems to be against the church."
"Does it matter? If you are finding truth
because of what you are being told from the inside
does it matter if it is different than what you
learn elsewhere? Here, too, you must make
decisions."
"Boy, you sure learned lots while you were
away. Who taught you?"
"Mary, there I had no money, no use for money,
nothing familiar. I had to survive. I had to go
inside to find answers or I would have perished. I
began to follow what I was being told. Eventually
I was given a teacher, a guide. His name was Sien.
When it was clear to me that I should commit my
life to living this way, then the powers you have
seen tonight were visited upon me. Survival was
assured at that point. Witness, however, I had to
give up all I had. At that point it was not much
for me. For you that will be hard, for you must
give up all you have in favor of your Maker."
"What do you mean give up all we have? We
aren't going to do that!"
"My point exactly, Mary. Living by higher law
means there is a perceived price to pay. Most of
mankind is unwilling to pay that price. That may
include you."
"But giving up all we have, that's
ridiculous."
"Only if you insist on gathering material
goods around you. It is usually done by those who
think material goods are a measure of stature in
the community."
