What is the earliest era of geologic time?
The earliest era of geologic time is called the Precambrian
era which began 4.6 billion years ago.
Are coffee beans really beans?
No. Coffee beans are actually seeds, or pits, of a red berry.
Each berry contains just two seeds and each plant produces
less than two pounds of coffee beans per year.

Assumptions Can Create Trouble!
Although he had packed his bag for a business trip the
night before, my husband planned to come home from the
office before leaving. That afternoon he called to say the
meeting had been canceled and on the spur of the moment
we decided to spend a romantic, child-free night in a hotel.
I quickly repacked his suitcase, replacing his belongings
with two wine glasses, candlesticks and candles and some
bubble bath. Then I dashed out to buy a bottle of wine.
When I returned, the bag was gone. A note on the kitchen
table read: "Sorry, hon, the business trip's on after all.
I'll call you when I get there."
It sounds like the trip was going to be fun, doesn't it?
Wow! What a surprise that is going to be when he opens
his suitcase. I'm willing to bet the next trip he takes he will
open his suitcase before he goes, just to make sure
things are right.
Yet that happens to all of us as we go through life. We
make assumptions based on our last known observations,
and often we give insufficient credit for things changing.
I've done that, to my embarrassment, and I am sure you
have too. It points out one of life's lessons for us - - - assuming
can be costly.
Today I check and double check. Long experience has
shown me that if I do half the number of things per day,
but make sure they are done perfectly, then at the end of
the month I am much further ahead than if I tried to
accomplish more.
The wanting to accomplish more has a tendency to make
us hurry through things with insufficient thought. The taking
one's time and doing things right so you never have to
come back to it is what causes progress. In fact it is the
underlying philosophy behind the Japanese economy. It
may take them a little longer to get to where they want to
go, but each step is rendered perfect before they take the
next step. The result is they never have to revisit work
already done. They are continually in progress mode.
You can be that way, too. Give it a try. In so doing you
will learn ...

Your Immune System: How It Serves You
And Why You Need To Keep It Healthy
PART 2 of 4
The immune system also plays a vital role in your
ability to weather exposure to parasites, bacteria,
viruses, toxins, and other hazards that interact daily
with our bodies. This list also includes degenerative
illnesses and accidents. These are considered
"triggers" for the immune system, but others could
something as unusual as the insulation in your
house or nail polish.
If you don't have a healthy immune system
(abundance of anti-oxidants), you are at the mercy
of any and every negative condition in your
environment - smoke, air pollution, water pollution, etc,
even stress. (There are children who have a very
limited (compromised) immune system. They have
to spend their entire life in very protective environments
so they are not exposed to any potential
life-threatening organisms.)
Your body's struggle against disease happens within
each and every individual cell, twenty-four hours a
day. Your immune system meets innumerable
challenges and overcomes countless enemies
throughout your lifetime. (A fatal infection often
represents the only unqualified loss in a generally
victorious campaign.)
For a time, it was widely assumed that infectious
diseases had been brought under control, especially
in our industrialized world. We now know that this is
not true. The appearance of AIDS and the recent
re-occurrence of TB (tuberculosis) are very real and
disturbing examples.
As well, we also now have harmful microorganisms
that are resistant to at least two very powerful groups
of drugs. If you are exposed to these pathogens
(disease-causing microorganisms), your immune
system might be unable to protect you. This is the
immune response malfunctioning (overloaded) or
not even existing any more.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

This was becoming somewhat disconcerting for
Mary. When her perceived security was threatened
she was not willing to enter into philosophical
discussions about the merits of higher law. To her
the conversation suddenly changed to say she had
to give up all she had. It was almost as if Eloise
had come into this house and demanded everything
of her. No way.
Eloise smiled. She knew exactly what was going
through Mary's head and now it was made the
stronger because of her emotional involvement.
"Fear not Mary. No one is after your house or
material goods. You will proceed into higher law
only if you decide. None can force you, so relax."
"But you just said I had to give up all I
have."
"Yes, I did. If you want to live by higher law
you must give up all you have. You cannot worship
God and Mammon. You cannot live by higher law if
your objective is the pursuit and acquisition of
material goods. It is just that simple. Until or
unless you see or are able to see through the veil
of simplicity you shall be kept in bondage by your
material goods."
"But I like life just the way it is. Why do I
have to change?"
"You don't. No one is asking you to change. We
are simply making the point that to live by higher
law means one must give up all that he/she has in
favor of a relationship with their Maker."
"I understand that." Brock was stepping into
the conversation. "You are not saying we must give
up all we have. You are saying that if we choose
to live by higher law, then we must give up all we
have. What do we do, sell it?"
"No, Brock. However, when you really study on
it you will come to see that your material goods
really own you rather than the other way around.
So long as you own material goods in man's world
you are subject to all sorts of rules and
regulations that keep you busy and away from your
Maker. Additionally, even when you think of giving
up any of it your natural inclination is to hold
on the harder. That puts you in bondage to
material goods. They own you. What I am saying is
that you must detach from material goods. Get your
head and heart in a place where you don't care if
someone takes your car, for example. It is only
material goods. You soon learn your Maker has
great things in store for you. I don't think
anyone is going to steal your car, but if they did
it should have no emotional, mental or material
effect on you, because you know in your heart of
hearts your Maker is looking after you. When you
are that detached from all things, all things -
even your loved ones, then you have the right
frame of mind with which to commence a meaningful
relationship with your Maker within. Once that is
established you are then able to learn and live by
higher law. Is that making any sense?"
"Yes. I think I can see that. You aren't
asking us to go out and sell everything then give
the money away. You are only wanting to make sure
that nothing, especially material goods, comes
before us and our relationship with our Maker."
"That's right. Absolutely nothing can come
between you and your Maker. It is your Maker,
first, last and always. Only then can you receive
the benefits of higher law. Jesus says so in the
bible when he says "Seek ye first the kingdom ..".
That doesn't mean when you're ready, or after
breakfast, or after work. It means first, always
first. It is even stated in the Ten Commandments,
'Thou shalt place no other Gods before me.' One
must make decisions to live by higher law. They
are not easy. Yet the rewards are worth every
effort. The choice is for each person, alone. Only
they can make the decision for them. It cannot be
a group decision. It cannot be imposed upon you
neither will it be."
"Boy! Eloise you come down heavy."
"Brock, we didn't come here to talk about
this. We came to visit with some old school chums.
I want to keep it that way. We got to this
conversation by your interest. We shall remain by
your interest, if you wish, however that was not
our purpose in coming."
"We understand that, Eloise. But we have not
really had any opportunity to understand what all
the fuss is about. We are aware the churches don't
want folks to follow you. They say it is of the
devil. Yet the churches are not able to help in
disasters like you can. You are right. The church
tells us about Jesus, but they do not say go out
and do as he says. Every time we get close to
talking about the Sermon on The Mount we are told
Jesus was speaking to a 'special group' as if that
message was not for us. Now that I look upon that
it appears to me to be hypocritical. I am not at
all sure we are getting the right information from
church."
"Those are things for you to explore, Brock.
Mazunta and I will answer questions as you ask
them, but we will not guarantee you will like all
the answers."

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

---- Lloyd C. Douglas
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
Three goobers died and found themselves standing before
St. Peter. He told them that before they could enter
the Kingdom, they had to tell him what Easter was.
The first goober said, "Easter is a holiday where they
have a big feast and we give thanks and eat turkey."
St. Peter said, "Noooooo," and he turned her away.
The second goober said, "Easter is when we celebrate
Jesus' birth and exchange gifts."
St. Peter said, "Noooooo," and he turned her away.
The third goober said she knew what Easter is, and St.
Peter said, "So, tell me."
She said, "Easter is a Christian holiday that coincides
with the Jewish festival of Passover. Jesus was having
Passover feast with His disciples when he was betrayed
by Judas, and the Romans arrested him. The Romans hung
Him on the cross and eventually He died. Then they
buried Him in a tomb behind a very large boulder..."
St. Peter said, "Verrrrrry good!"
Then the goober continued, "Now every year the Jews
roll away the boulder and Jesus comes out. If he sees
his shadow, we have six more weeks of basketball."
