ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What is xylomancy?

Xylomancy is another form of divination. This Slavonic
method of predicting the future relies on the position of
randomly discovered pieces of small wood a person happens
to come across on his journey.

What is psychometry?

Psychometry is predicting a person's future by holding an
object possessed by the person.

Stay Away From CATS

A few days ago I had an email from someone who
was told by his doctor to stay away from CATS. Now I
am not a cat fancier or even recognise pure-bred cats,
but I like some. So hearing this, made me wonder why a
doctor would give such unusual advice. But he explained
that CATS stands for caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and
salt. Hearing this, I thought that this was rather a good idea.
Let's look at each product.

CAFFEINE is a stimulant that causes irritability in
some people and takes up valuable "space" in your
stomach, which could be filled with healthier liquids.
Diuresis (increased urine production) and tachycardia
(increased heart rate), are two of the more serious side
effects. GI problems and insomnia are common.

ALCOHOL, contrary to popular belief, is a sedative,
but usually acts as a stimulant first. A visit to the emergency
room in your local hospital on any Friday evening
should convince you not to indulge too much.
Alcoholism causes major family problems which
are not easily dealt with.

TOBACCO is a double edged-sword. Not only does
it harm you with the chemicals going directly into your
lungs and blood stream, but it also produces "second-hand
smoke which has YOUR noxious waste fumes along
with the chemicals. This is then generously and
involuntarily "shared" with everyone in the vicinity.

SALT attracts water. That could be good if you are trying
to soak away some type of infection. However, for most
of us salt attracts undesirable excess fluid, which
remains in the body...heart, limbs, inner ear, joints, etc.
The best "antidote" is to drink lots of water and flush it out.
For a healthier lifestyle, read food labels and don't use
additional salt in meal preparation. Use spices instead.

Yes, I agree…stay away from CATS and you'll feel and
be much more comfortable.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Tim and Sharon came and sat down by the fire.
The evening was warm and romantic, if you were two
young people in love. The setting was just one
more thing that was romantic and the couple could
hardly keep apart.

Their love was growing that intense that they
found it hard to participate in the chatter that
was going around the fire. They would listen but
with their feelings being paramount in their minds
the words just seemed meaningless.

Eloise and Mazunta related the story of events
at Brock and Mary Stanley's. They explained how
Mary, in particular, was of the mind that money
alone was the objective of life. She was quite
unwilling to consider there may be things better.
She was firmly ensconced in her home, was a lady
looked up to in society, or so she thought, and
was not going to risk any of that.

To Mary, they had worked hard to get to this
station. It meant a certain social level, a
certain level of respect for her children and
ultimately a level of business for Brock. The very
idea those things might be at risk turned Mary
off, fast.

"That is the way with a lot of folks,
Tinkerbell. They will turn off if there is any
fear they will lose what they think is of value to
them. There goes that statement of Jesus again,
'It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye
of a needle than for a rich man to get into
heaven.' Oh, so true. They hang onto material
goods and imagined social status like it were life
itself. They have no concept of the bondage in
which they permit themselves to live."

"Mr. Henry, that's a hard one to overcome.
Even I, at my young age, had trouble with that
and, in truth, I had nothing to lose. What can man
do?"

"Sharon, man can do nothing except think. All
men, women and children in earth are, at some
point, given much stimulus to look at and think
about the true meaning and purpose of life. Only a
few take the high road because of their
conclusions. Others prefer to stay with money,
material goods and all the other things they feel
are the real factors in life. For all intents and
purposes they are already dead. Like automatons
they go about their daily business oblivious of
real life. Jesus told us that even death can be
overcome, yet they fail to pursue the way."

"I guess, Mr. Henry, they just don't believe
it."

"I can see, Sharon, that they may not believe
it coming from someone like you or I. Yet these
people purport to follow Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha.
They become walking hypocrites. They say they
believe but they do not do as these great teachers
have taught. There are groups who still think they
can wage war and will somehow, miraculously, end
up in a place called heaven where they will be
honored for killing. Man has twisted the message
to suit his purposes. Unfortunately there are
organized groups that forcefully insist on doing
that, and, it is not only militia groups."

"What can we do?"

"Only what we are already doing. Help man in
whatever way we can without causing him to feel
forced to look at higher law. He must come of his
own free will and volition. Our brothers who send
love and blessings of peace onto all parts of the
world will ultimately direct the way of the world
to a point where man can see. Already the
evolution of man has brought him to a point where
his knowledge and inspiration is becoming more
attuned to higher law. That gradual process will
continue until one day it will become evident to
man that his path is incorrect and higher law is
the way."

"I guess, until then, we can only broadcast
love and hope to find those who want to live by
higher law."

"There are many, Sharon, who will learn and
each time someone passes through the veil of
simplicity they increase the numbers we can reach.
Ours is to love man in spite of his foibles. Jesus
said it best, on the cross, 'Father, forgive them
for they know not what they do.' That is as true
today as then."

"Most men would take offence at that idea."

"Of course, Sharon. Just as most men take
offence whenever anyone imposes their will upon
another. Yet it is not our job to bring peace,
contentment and stymie a man's progress to higher
law. It is only by changing man's thinking that
man can progress higher. Many times that requires
a stimulus man does not like. We do not create it
but often a man's soul will lead him into
conditions where he feels uncomfortable, out of
his element, and it is then man must begin to
look, seek and ask. It is then man has the
opportunity to find higher law. If we can be there
for him, so much the better. If not then he still
has the chance to consider change. Territory that
is uncharted for one man is only that, uncharted
for him. Often man considers taking a path that
many have trod upon, only to think he is the
first. Man must learn there is nothing new under
the sun, nothing. He must see that any path he
steps has been taken by hundreds of others. What
may be new to him is not new, only to him. He can,
therefore, successfully follow others who have
walked the walk. Upon doing so he usually finds
there is help nearby."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

I work in a school department that is supported by
educational grants.

On his first day, my new boss delivered some bad news.
He said, "Unfortunately your last boss failed to apply
for the grant that supports your work. You will be
terminated at the end of this month. Did you know
that?"

Admittedly, I was unprepared for this, but I was not
shocked.

Two weeks before the end of my tenure, the new boss
came to me. He said, "Before you go, please submit the
lesson plans you would have used for the next three
months."

I said, "Oh, I'm sorry, those lesson plans were covered
in the grant. Didn't you know that?"
