Where is the windiest place on earth?

What is the longest mountain chain?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Where is the largest plant on earth?

If you guessed it was in California's Sequoia National Park,
you are correct. The General Sherman Oak, a giant sequoia
about 3,500 years old, is said to be the largest plant in the
world. The tree is more than 270 feet tall and has a circumference
of more than 100 feet.

What is a banana wind?

It's a wind strong enough to knock fruit off trees without
blowing them down. The term is used in the Caribbean.

Al Gore's Current TV Teams With Google
by Shankar Gupta, Tuesday, Apr 5, 2005

FORMER VICE PRESIDENT AL GORE and his business partner,
prominent attorney Joel Hyatt, Monday detailed their
plans for Current TV, a television network acquired by
the two last year. The new network, set to launch on
Aug. 1, will cater to the 18-34 demographic group, the
company stated Monday. It will also draw on search
engine giant Google for a feature called "Google
Current," which will be based on data from Google about
popular search terms.

The information for Google Current will be culled from
the research used to construct Google's "Zeitgeist"
feature, which reports the top 10 most searched-for
queries. Last week's top 10 list included the PSP
portable game console, the actress Sandra Bullock, the
famed O.J. Simpson lawyer Johnnie Cochran, who recently
died, and the movie "Sin City," which topped box
offices last weekend.

Google declined to comment on the deal, and calls for
comment to Current TV were not returned by press time.
In a move designed to promote consumer participation,
Current intends to encourage viewers to submit content
for the network. Current's programming will be
presented in "pod" format, with short, 15-second to
5-minute segments that cover trends in technology,
fashion, and entertainment, along with political and
social issues. The channel will include both
professionally produced segments and viewer-created
content, which Current fans can upload via the
channel's Web site. The submissions are then ranked by
Web site browsers, and the top-ranked submissions are
considered for broadcast. Current also plans to offer
online courses to sharpen the skills of their
citizen-journalists, aiming to create a trained pool of
dedicated "Current Journalists."

Natural Insect Repellants
How To Prevent Insect Bites
PART 4 of 5

DR. MERCOLA'S COMMENT:
http://www.mercola.com/1998/archive/natural_insect_repellant.htm

If you saw the above news story in your local or national media,
you would be convinced that DEET is the best thing since sliced
bread.

Wrong.

This is a deadly and potent neurotoxin that you want to stay
away from. If you absolutely had to use it, it should only be
used on your clothing, never on your skin. It is far too deadly
to ever consider using it on your skin.

Most commercial insect repellents are made from DEET. The
American Academy of Pediatrics advises against using repellents
containing more than 10% DEET on kids under six. DEET is a
pesticide and has been associated with a variety of health
problems ranging from dizziness to seizures, and children are
especially susceptible.

There are effective natural options. I repeat my comments from
four years ago:

"Well, summer is upon us. If you have been doing any gardening,
like I have, you will have plenty of mosquito bites to show for
it. Most of you, I am certain, know of the dangers of using
insect repellant like OFF which contains the chemical DEET. This
is a potent chemical that, in high doses, has actually killed
people. It should never be used on people. There are natural
alternatives available.

One that seems to have great promise is Buzz Away. It has been
proven to more effective than Avon Skin So Soft, Bug Guard, Bite
Blocker, Natrapel, Jungel Juice AND it is equally as effective
as OFF! Buzz Away is formulated with Citronella, Cedarwood,
Eucalyptus, Lemon Grass, Peppermint, and pure and natural plant
extracts that repel bugs. For more information you can visit
their web site or call 1-800-448-1448.
It is important to know that any product I list in this
newsletter affords me no advertising revenue, and I have no
financial link to the recommended company. That would be a huge
conflict of interest. This information is only given for your
benefit.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Mae and Susan had stayed at home for only a
week. By the time they got back to where they were
in China before they left, the storm was still
raging. The weather was -40 degrees and not to
many people were about.

They landed in the street just outside the
restaurant owned by Long Chu and his family. The
weather didn't bother the pair of them for they
only had to set up an envelope surrounding them in
which the climate was favorable.

They opened the door and walked in, wind
coming with them. Everyone in the restaurant
turned to look as they did every time someone came
in. There was only two patrons inside.

As was their custom the customers were dressed
in their outside clothes. Long Chu did not spend a
lot of money or trade trying to keep it balmy warm
inside.

Yet Mae and Sue noticed an immediate
difference from the last time they were here. The
place was considerably warmer than the last time.
It seems the never ending supply of oil they left
was now put to use in three additional heaters set
up strategically throughout the restaurant.

Long Chu saw them and called his family. They
all came to greet Mae and Sue and were much
pleased the two ladies had returned.

"Thank you for the oil. It is always there and
we now use it to heat the building. Our customers
like it a lot. Thank you. Thank you." Long Chu was
bowing and expressing his appreciation for the
gift of oil the ladies had left.

The family led the ladies to a table and bid
they sit. Then they all drew up chairs and sat
down with them, except the kids, Ming Stze and
Long Stze. They each sat on the lap of Mae and
Sue.

You were away for a long time. We did not know
if we would see you again. The oil you left us has
saved us much. It makes the restaurant profitable.
People like it warm but think we are wasting our
oil foolishly. They are not used to it. We have a
family who has run out of oil so we keep them
supplied. It is hard, in this weather, to stay
warm. This storm should not last much longer. In
three months we will be in spring."

"Long Chu, it makes us happy that you share
the oil. That is what it is for. You have a fine
heart. Because of that you will enjoy many
blessings."

"Miss Mae, are you hungry? Can I get you
something to eat?" Ming Lu was wanting to serve
them a lunch.

Restaurants in this country were not like
restaurants back in the States. This building was
a low roofed building. It almost felt as if you
would hit your head if you stood up straight. Tall
folks did. The lighting was very poor. The floor
was earthen. There were several posts throughout
holding up the roof beams. Everything felt dirty.
There were no menus. If you wanted something to
eat you got what they brought you, although they
would give you a couple of choices.

Often patrons would have no money with which
to pay for their meals so Long Chu would run up a
tab. When it got large enough a customer would pay
by trading something of value, like a pig, or some
grain, mare's milk, even tapestries. Long Chu
would have to barter and bid the price down as is
the custom in this land, and everyone would go
away happy.

The food was not exactly like Chinese food one
would get in the States, either. The spicing would
be different nearly every 25 miles, much like the
dialect. This area of China was still not
developed like the big cities. It was far more
rural, even tribal in places. It was a condition
brought on by the climate and the harsh land in
which these people lived. Yet the food was
delicious. In spite of the surroundings appearing
dirty they were very fussy about how they prepared
their food. They had learned long ago the need to
keep utensils and dishes clean. Disease, once
taking hold in this country, could kill quickly.

Mae and Sue accepted the invitation to eat and
were brought a bowl, chopsticks and a small
drinking cup. Ming Lu brought a big pot of boiling
water in which she had placed tea leaves. She
brought a cup for each of her husband and herself
as well. They sat down and sipped tea. The meal
she put on was warming in her cooking area.

Soon she was up and went to get lunch. When
she returned she had two heaping plates filled
with noodles and some meat. On one of the plates
were long strips of meat cooked in some kind of
sauce. She also brought with her a big bowl of
soup containing vegetables and assorted meats.

The spices used were hot, peppery. If one was
not used to hot foods it would take a while to get
used to this. Yet Mae and Susan had been in this
land long enough to know what the food was like
and they actually became accustomed to it and
enjoyed it.
