The African and Eurasian plates have been pushing up against

Why You Don't Write Your Book
by Suzanne Falter-Barns

In the ten years that I've taught people how to get on
with their books and creative projects, I've noticed a
phenomenon that I'll call "Author's Block." Would-be
writers can, indeed, sit down and work when pressed to
it. The problem is that they're not so sure they want
the pressure of being an author. But they do want
it. But they don't. And so on.

Ah, the agony of getting on with your book.

Well, I'm here to diffuse that situation with a list of
the key reasons we have trouble sticking to our writing
or other creative projects. Perhaps this will help the
next time you find yourself polishing doorknobs instead
of sitting down to work.

Check all that apply to you:

You Lie To Yourself About Why You Can't Write The Book

You think your stalling is about lack of time, or too
much pressure at work, or not enough solitude in the
evening. But guess what? Chances are a deeper, darker
reason may be at play, like 'I'm not supposed to be
bigger than Mom' or 'What if this thing really takes
off?'

You Fear The Impact Your Book Could Have

Sometimes when I coach writers in my Self-Help Author's
Crash Course I'll ask them what's impeding their
progress. And after some probing, it will come out that
they're afraid of the big exposure a book can have if
it takes off. I'm here to assure you that should that
happen, (and chances are your book will not unleash
wild mobs of millions) you will be able to handle it.
How do I know? On that deep level where psyche meets
karma, you won't create a single reader more than
you're ready to receive.

You Think Your Book Doesn't Matter, So Why Bother?

One writer I know put this succinctly: "I've tried
getting up at 5AM to write, or staying up late, or even
leaving my home, but none of it works. I have this
tired feeling that none of my effort is going to amount
to a hill of beans." In fact, writing and publication
can be an entirely self-determined activity these days.
If the publishing pundits don't go for your book,
there's always the option of self-publishing paperback
editions or e-books and selling them on online
booksellers or your website. In other words, your book
DOES matter, and you really have no excuse. (Acid test:
if the book keeps on patiently urging you to sit down
and write it for months and even years, chances are
you'd better do it.)

You Think You Don't Know How To Write A Book

Guess what? Neither does any other first time writer.
And that may be a wonderful thing. As a beginner, you
don't approach your book project with a carload of
professional expectations and demands from your
process. You can just be open, like… well, a nice blank
book. All you really need is your intuition to guide
you, and the will to write your book as honestly as you
can.

You Have No Support

You need someone in your corner, cheering you on, to
get through the long and somewhat tiring process of
birthing a book. Because writers need a way to show up
and be accountable for their progress. They need
someone to keep saying, 'Yes, you really can do this,"
or even "How's it going?" Minds can be tricky and
difficult when fully challenged by something like a
book. And steady external support is the best way
around that.

You're Afraid You'll Run Out Of Material

There isn't a writer out there who hasn't had this
fear. And I'm here to say that if you just stay loose
and open, and willing to receive the ideas, they will
show up. All you have to do is commit - really sit
down, and begin to bring that book into being - and the
work will magically appear. Sometimes it won't flow
that easily, and sometimes it will scare you with its
speed and power. But it will, indeed, show up.

You Think 'Who Am I to Write a Book?'

And yet, you are the perfect person to write your book,
because you're the one chosen to receive this material.
(You don't have to be spiritually inclined to believe
this.) I personally believe that books are given to us
when we're ready to receive them… and when we do, our
lives are changed by that process.

You Fear Uncomfortable Moments

Ah, but that's the most exciting thing about writing
your book. You will be given challenges and lessons
that just seem untenable along the way. And if you're
committed enough, you'll rise above them and so become
stronger in the process. This is especially true for
self-help books: we naturally write what we need to
learn.

Got a few categories checked off from the list above?
Good! Awareness is the first step to diffusing your
fears. Meanwhile, PLEASE do get on with your book …
despite your misgivings. Not only do you deserve this
work - so do we.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

April Is Cancer Awareness Month
PART 2 of 4

Each of our lives IS our private life. It is not your spouse's
or your child's' or your parent's. It is yours and you have to
live it, manage it and acknowledge that this is the real you.
Those feelings of fear or joy are yours: not someone else's.
This also means that you walk in your own shoes: along your
path. You actually have to do the walking (living). No one can
do it for you. And that's hard to realise and then to accept. So
it's vital that you create some sort of boundaries of things you
will allow into your "experience" and those you will not accept.
It also means you can CHOOSE things for your own good.

My purpose here is to acknowledge that the walk of anyone with a
degenerative condition.be it lupus, arthritis, or cancer, is the
immediate problem or crisis. However, it's still very possible
to have the end in mind and to stick to your long term goal.
First, there is the choice between a positive and a negative
outlook. And it is a CHOICE. Be encouraged that there is
tremendous hope for any such degenerative condition, especially
cancer, with new treatments. But I caution you that you will
have to work very hard to be positive rather than have to accept
all the negativity around you. It's almost like building a
protective wall and saying NO to things that others want you to
hear. People will delight in sharing all sorts of unpleasant
experiences just when you need to be propped up with big doses
of hope, energy, love, and massive amounts of determination
mixed with focus. (Please feel free to frame Dr. Waitley's
quotation.)

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"Why has this philosophy developed, Long Chu?"

"Because many who travel find they need help
from those in the land. When weather cold and
deadly like we have now, man survives better when
there are many to help. It is the way in this
land."

"I find it wonderful that man here thinks that
way. Miss Susan and I live by certain laws and the
chief among them is the law 'As ye sow, so shall
ye reap.' It means that if you wish to receive
good things you must give good things first.
Always the giving comes first. It means that if
one wants to live a good life they must give out
good first. It is very simple and very effective.
That must be why you and others in this land
prosper. Helping one another is always a good way
to live." Mae was also on a philosophy kick.

"Where you come from? We no see many people
who look like you."

"I'm not exactly sure what you mean Long Chu.
If you mean are we white, the answer is yes. We
are known as caucasian where you are known as
Chinese. Miss Susan and I lived in the same town
back in the country where we are from. That is the
United States. I know you have heard of that
country. It is in a big land mass known as North
America. Recently my son and his wife moved far
south from my home to a continent called South
America. I went to live there with him. Both Miss
Susan and I have learned to live by what is known
as higher law. It means we have learned the laws
of our Maker and made the decision to live by
those laws. That is how we were able to leave you
with the never ending supply of oil. That is also
how we were able to make Ming Lu's arm whole and
were able to handle Ng Chiang."

"Can anyone learn this law?"

"Yes Long Chu. It is for all people. Most are
afraid but it is the way our Maker wants us to
live."

"We get many pilgrims who come through here.
Many of them are on their way up north to Tibet
where they believe they will find Nirvana. Is that
what you are doing?"

"No, Long Chu. Nirvana is inside every person.
They need only look inside. Miss Susan and I have
come to travel through China because we were told
China is a beautiful country. We wanted to walk,
rather than take other transportation because it
is only that way one can really see the country
and meet the people."

"And how are you finding China, as you
expected?"

"Long Chu, China is a magnificent country. The
people are wonderful and friendly. Everywhere we
go we have been made welcome, many times at the
cost and expense of those who can ill afford to be
so hospitable. Even when we see trouble, such as
with Ng Chiang we know there is an underlying
reason and when we find that we usually find a
fine person. You watch, Ng Chiang will be back and
brag about you to his entire family. He will bring
friends and they will all know how you helped save
him and his family. We find people like you and Ng
Chiang all over China. We have had a wonderful
visit and will be sad to leave this land."

"Do you find people like that in other lands?"

"Yes, Long Chu, we do. We find that people all
over the world are pretty much the same. They are
concerned about their families. They have to eat,
be clothed, have shelter. Many have been taught
the wrong philosophy and are being led by leaders
who have their own agenda. They, therefore have
beliefs that cause them to act in ways that will
bring them harm. Yet, underneath, each is a person
with the same hopes and dreams as every other man,
and, in the breast of all men beats this desire to
return to their Maker. Many have been taught the
wrong idea about their Maker and are being led by
religious orders that keep them in bondage, but
that never ending desire lies buried in the chest
of every person."

"Are you not seeing what you see because that
is what you look for?"

"Of course. It is our work to seek the good in
all men, in all things. All we see is the
perfection our Maker has caused in earth. That is
why we did not react a different way to Ng Chiang.
Many would have wanted to kill him or punish him.
We only want to love him and his family. Only as
we see good, shall it follow us. It is all part of
the law 'As ye sow, so shall ye reap.' All people
respond to love, peace, harmony, order, balance.
It is our Maker's way."

"So are you out to teach all who come across
your path?"

"No, Long Chu. Each man must make the choice
to live by higher law. it is personal. We will
help those who have committed but we will not
impose. In coming here we were made welcome and
were given love and hospitality. That is why we
left the never ending supply of oil. It was your
kindness that sponsored the gift. Your need was
evident and that is one way we could show our
gratitude for your kindness. Only when man has
clearly indicated his desire to live by higher law
will we help. Until then each man is on a path
they have chosen and we will not interfere."
