ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What "Ma" was the head of an infamous criminal gang?
Ma Barker (born Arizona Donnie Clark) was head of the
ultimate dysfunctional family - a 1920's criminal gang.
Her gang, which included her sons, was responsible for
numerous kidnappings and robberies of post offices and
banks. Ma herself was never arrested, but three of her four
sons served time in Alcatraz, Leavenworth, and Kansas
State Penitentiary. Ma, along with her son Freddie, was
killed in 1935 at the age of 63 in a shootout with FBI agents.
Later, two of her other sons also met with violent deaths--one
shot himself instead of giving himself up to police and the
other was killed in an attempt to escape from Alcatraz.
Where was "Pa" Barker in all this? Mr. George Barker
never joined the gang and Ma left him in 1927.
When did Mother's Day first come into being?
Mother's Day was first suggested by Julia Ward Howe, a
women's suffrage leader and author of "The Battle Hymn
of the Republic," in 1872. She envisioned it as a day to
celebrate peace and wanted it to be June 2. In 1907, West
Virginian Anna Jarvis began serious campaigning for a
"Mother's Day" to be held the second Sunday in May.
Woodrow Wilson approved it as a national holiday in 1915.

TITLE ARTICLE - - -

Not By Bread Alone!
by Ken Darby
We are forwarned that man shall not live by bread alone.
Well, what else is there?
FAITH, that's what!
The man, woman or child who clearly understands
their Maker WANTS to provide for them is truly a fortunate
person.
Interestingly enough we are born thinking this way. It is
our education process that knocks it out of us. To re-learn
it is an exercise that always proves a challenge.
I see posting after posting on the internet about
"buy this program and you will be a millionaire",
"buy this one and you will have money to put in the
bank tomorrow" and so it goes.
Additionally I see the other end of the spectrum, too.
I see those with honorable intentions trying to encourage
those in internet marketing that it will not happen overnight,
but instead it is the one who is longsuffering and long on
labor who wins.
Yet nowhere do I see anyone encouraging you to
"Keep the faith!".
I mean "trust" that you have a good idea. "Trust" that
when you go to work on your idea and you are prepared
to accept no alternative to success, it will work. "Know"
that when you and your Maker are in partnership with
your energies, direction and efforts - it will happen.
Read, for example, the Sermon on The Mount
(Matthew 5, 6, 7) Live your life with that kind of faith and
all you want will come to pass.
It is challenging because we were taught, ourselves, and
we continue to teach our young, that only by man's way
will you succeed.
Man, and possibly you, fails to understand that belief alone
will produce the results you are after. Man, and possibly
you, fails to see that everything falls into place when you
believe it will.
FAITH is what else you will live by. Where you cannot live
by bread alone, you can live by faith alone. What do you
think happens when you believe? What do you think
happens when you "Keep the faith!"?
You begin to manifest the things you believe in, that's what!
All sorts of things begin to happen when you believe they will!
Learning to believe in this fact will be a first step. How many
times must you hear or read the teaching "Whatsoever
things ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive"?
That does not mean you say, I believe - and suddenly the
bank account is overflowing. It is the "knowing" at such a
deep level that every fibre of your being knows it - that it is
so sure in your mind no such thing as doubt enters.
Also, this is not about church, neither about doing things
the way your church says. This is about a deep personal
relationship between you and your Maker whoever and
however you see your Maker, or call by whatever name.
This is about "KNOWING" all will be well! This is about
living your daily life knowing what you dream of and what
you work on will come to the place you pictured. It is about
learning to overlook what picture the world might want to
present and seeing only the picture you set out for yourself.
Interesting enough I have a computer monitor that is
beginning to show signs of giving up. One person in my
family says "Oh no! That means you are going to have another
expenditure.", as if that is a bad thing. From my perspective
it is a good thing because it is a sign that old things are
leaving and new and wonderful things are about to unfold.
You must "KNOW IN YOUR BELLY" that your Maker does
not close a door without opening another somewhere, or
a window. Learn to "go with the flow". Learn to keep anxieties,
based on man's training, away, and let faith run your life.
Not only is it much healthier, it is also much more fruitful.
No, man cannot and will not live BY BREAD ALONE!

Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sterilizing
A Few Basic Essentials To Keep In Mind
PART 5 of 12
Household products will provide some of your
disinfection needs: ammonia and bleach are the two
common ones. Disinfectants come in three levels of
effectiveness: low, intermediate, and high. In a home
setting where germs are not very strong (compared to a
health care setting), a low level product is adequate.
In fact, just soap and water would probably meet most
of your needs. Disinfection is achieved by several
methods, but usually through some sort of liquid
chemical product. Things that need to be disinfected
usually need to be submerged, and fluids do this best.
Water finds its way into the most hidden places. Strict
safety standards must be met when using these products.
It follows that sterilization which means killing all
microorganism isnt often required for home use.
However you do take home products that are sterile,
meaning the inside of the package has no microorganisms
present. Sterilization is achieved in several ways in a
health care facility, using steam machines under
pressure (autoclaves) or gases or other chemicals. All
require specialized knowledge, training, equipment and
safety measures. This is very costly and is reserved
for special activities. It is an industry and career
all its own. Standards are in place to control each
process. Luckily for us, in our homes, we simply need
to choose what we want (cleaning, disinfection, or
sterilization) and the predetermined industry standards
will guide us as to what we need.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Ng worked with the boys. They put the
harnesses they had onto two of the ponies. Then
they hobbled the horses to ensure they did not
wander off. For the two remaining horses, for
which they did not have harness, Ng fashioned
bridles out of the ropes they had made. The
animals were obviously trained for they stood and
permitted the harness and bridles to be put on as
if that was what they expected. These last two
were hobbled as well.
There was much excitement in the ger. The
family could hardly believe their wealth. There
was much discussion about the new horses and about
the ladies who visited them last winter. Ng and
Chi Sang made sure the boys understood the
relationship between their new good fortune and
Mae and Susan.
As the time between events was so long it was
difficult at first for the boys to make that
association, until Ng brought out the fermented
mares milk. They had a celebration there, within
the family, where the boys for the first time were
permitted to sip the milk.
Ng told them to remember the never ending oil
and the never ending supply of food these two
ladies had caused to be here. Then he asked the
boys to remember the night before the ladies left
when they told the family that in the spring
things would work out just fine.
Plans were happening fast and furious. They
would pack up their winter home and head for the
spring gathering grounds of the tribe. The tasks,
although the same all the time, were divided up
again amongst family members. When everyone
understood what they had to do they set to work.
The boys were to pack up their own gear, then
help their mother with the mats, carpets and hides
that served as the floor.
Chi Sang would pack up all the clothing she
and her husband used, tapestries that hung on the
walls, help the boys with the flooring and then
pack up the food and cooking utensils separately.
Ng, in the meanwhile, was outside removing the
outer cover from the ger. After he had that packed
up as tightly as he could he then tied it up in as
tight a bundle as possible.
By the time Ng had finished with the outer
cover, the boys emerged from the ger with the
bundles that were the flooring, the tapestries and
the separate containers of food and cooking pots.
Chi Sang was also finished inside and she too
came out with her arms full.
All in all, looking at all the separate
bundles and parcels on the ground it became quite
clear it would take at least two of the ponies to
carry it all.
Ng and the boys began loosening the guy ropes
that held the ger against the strong winds. Today
was a perfect day for dismantling the ger as the
wind was not yet up.
After the guy ropes were off, they, by a long
learned system, walked around the ger removing and
rolling up the outside sides of felt material and
hides that served as the walls of the ger. Now it
looked funny. There is was standing on spindly
support legs with a roof that still had to be
removed.
That part was teamwork. The idea, once all was
in readiness was that Ng would go inside to take
firm hold of the center support pole, and on que,
the boys, Chi Sang and Ng would all push the
structure in the same direction. The ger framework
collapsed with Ng inside underneath the roofing.
Once it was down the boys removed all the support
poles. Ng and Chi Sang rolled and packed the roof
and the job was basically complete.
Standing back they looked upon their work. The
only sign there was even a ger there was the
darkened circle of soil.
Ng and the boys packed the horses, ensuring
the two pack animals were carrying loads that were
evenly balanced and about an even share of the
weight between them.
The family set off. They headed east with a
slight northerly leaning. Each person had a horse
in tow. The boys, once or twice a day, would jump
up onto the backs of the two spare horses and race
off over the hills. These, they said, were
ostensibly scouting missions. But they were really
boys feeling the surge of energy spring brought to
them. They had been cooped up in the ger all
winter and needed to see the wide open spaces
again. They would return with the horses breathing
hard and with big smiles on their faces. Each time
they had seen nothing.

A man goes into the doctor's office feeling really bad.
After a thorough examination the doctor calls him into
his office and says I have some bad news.
"You have HAGS. What is HAGS the man asks. It's herpes,
AIDS, gonorrhea, and syphilis," says the doctor.
"Oh my God!" says the man. "What are you going to do?"
"We are going to put you in an isolated room and feed
you pancakes and pizza."
Is that going to help me?" says the man.
"No." says the doctor. "But it's the only food we can think
of that we can slide under the door! "
