What is white gold and how is it different than platinum?
White gold is an alloy of gold mixed with white metals
such as silver, nickel, and palladium. Platinum, on the
other hand is a completely different metal. It's longer
lasting and heavier than white gold and costs much
more.
Is it true that video games make for better surgeons?
I am not a strong proponent of kids playing video games,
but a recent study DOES suggest that surgeons who spent
at least three hours per week playing video games made
37 percent fewer mistakes in laparoscopic surgery and
performed the surgeries 27 percent faster than physicians
who did not play video games. (Laparoscopic surgery
involves manipulating joysticks to control a tiny camera
and instruments inserted into the body through a small
incision.) Don't tell your teenagers!
How many years of school do you need to become a brain
surgeon?
Planning on poking in people's brains? Count on studying
for at least 14 years before ever getting the chance. That's at
least four years pre-med, four years of med school, and six
years of residency. But most neurosurgeons actually train
more than that, spending several more years in subspecialty
fellowship training or earning a masters degree or doing
PhD research. Hey, if someone is going to poke in MY brain,
I want them to have at least two decades of training!

"How to Really Get All The Clients You Can
Handle, and The Truth Most Self Employed
Professionals Don't Want to Hear"
by Travis Greenlee
As you are probably well aware, the service profession
is evolving more rapidly than ever before. Competition,
technology and consumerism are taking huge bites out of
your business possibilities.
You're working harder, feeling more stressed, and not
yet seeing the results you want. The old answers to
building and sustaining your business don't seem to be
working any more.
Whether you like it or not, it's time to take action
and re-engineer your business - or risk your future.
With this in mind, I'd like to share 5 battle-tested
strategies that will create irresistible demand for
your services, guaranteed!
1. Understand that the primary objective of your
business should be the MARKETING of your professional
services, NOT the actual delivering of your services.
Most service professionals have it backwards.
You see, the challenge is that most of us have been
taught that simply because we deliver excellent service
and provide enormous value, clients will automatically
knock our doors down.
Well, I can tell you from personal experience, as well
as with hundreds of my clients, it's simply not the
truth. The key to building a long term, solid practice
is the quality and consistency of your marketing much
more than the actual delivery of your services. As
Michael Gerber states in the e-myth revisited, working
on your business much more than working in your
business.
2. Become a "positioner" not a prospector. A positioner
is someone who builds his/her reputation such that
prospects come to them, they command respect.
Positioners pick and choose clients, whereas
prospectors hustle and struggle to get clients. Become
a positioner and share your valuable knowledge,
expertise, and education with prospects, as a result
you will be viewed as the "go to" person.
3. Use an education-based marketing approach to attract
new clients. This is the process used by industry
leading service professionals to attract and enroll
highly qualified prospects by giving them what they
want, not by selling or promoting. Selling based
marketing is out, it's old school.
Think about it, the problem is that prospects go out of
their way to avoid you, they even become defensive. How
does that make you feel? The key is to look for
opportunities to create and give your
information away, which in turn will position you as
the expert. As a result, you will create a powerful
magnet to pull clients to you.
4. Design, create, sell and give away information
products to generate leads. All highly successful
service professionals are avid writers and producers of
information products. The benefits of creating your own
info products are many: beginning with creating
passive revenue, allowing you to enjoy more time,
freedom, and increased bandwidth to make a larger
impact in the world.
In terms of positioning, creating an info product will
attract highly qualified prospects who view you as an
expert in your field, and as a result, will pay top
dollar to work with you.
5. Become a specialist, not a generalist. This is a big
one. Highly successful coaches are specialists at one
thing. When people think of that one thing, the
specialist comes to mind. Prospects who want
that one thing will pay top dollar for coaching and
advice, and are attracted like a magnet.
I'm sure you've heard how vitally important it is to
identify and define your target market. I can't
overemphasize the importance of this. Without having a
crystal clear idea of who you are, in terms of
your strengths, gifts, talents, and experiences and who
you will support based on your attributes, you are
literally shooting yourself in the foot.

Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sterilizing
A Few Basic Essentials To Keep In Mind
PART 7 of 12
Each item to be cleaned or disinfected, needs to be
evaluated for its past use (where was it just now) and
future use (where is it going to be used next). And the
process shouldnt harm the item itself. (I wonder how
may of us have destroyed plastic containers in a
microwave or a dishwasher?) Incidentally, both can be
considered for special cleaning practices, but ask for
further directions first. You may recall a relative
sterilizing the jam jars or sealing the salmon jars
at preserving time: same concept. You also need to
consider the use of the item for the next time. Does it
need to be kept sterile? How would you do that at home?
Suffice to say that most products when they come into
contact with soap and water, clean or remove germs by
simply washing them away!
Lets look at some precautions. These products are not
without possible harm, to you personally or to your
environment. And to make sure you realise that these
are serious issues, cautions are printed on every
container
by law!
First, do NOT ever HEAT these products. Their actions
will be increased and expand. They become more
powerful! Heat expands them. These soft, tiny particles
now spread through the air. You inhale or breathe them
into your lungs. That is very dangerous! Another
caution is for your skin. Do NOT allow any of these
chemicals to remain on your skin. Rinse them off
quickly. They can be absorbed into your body. They are
designed for solid, inanimate items, not for your skin
which is very porous. Protect your eyes! Have you
really read the labels on one of these containers?
Really read them? Ask yourself why a manufacturer would
have to print these precautions on every container.
Believe me; they would prefer not to have to do that.
It should make you stop and think, and wonder if you
really need something so strong. These are chemicals:
harmful to germs. They get rid of dirt. Do you think
they might also possibly be harmful to you personally?

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The celebration lasted well into the night.
When it was finally over, Ng and his family once
more slept outside in their traveling fashion.
Tomorrow he and his boys would raise the ger once
more and Chi Sang would arrange the inside. The
task would take nearly all day. His horses had
been put in the remuda with all the other ponies
of the village. Being such good horsemen each man
somehow knew which horse was his, even though they
might appear similar to a strangers eye.
The excitement of once more being with the
group had now died down and the family slept in
until the noises of the camp woke them. Chi Sang
prepared a very good warm breakfast over a
camp fire, so she could ensure her men had maximum
energy for the task ahead.
By mid morning the men were working hard on
getting the ger up. They already had the perimeter
poles up and lashed together. They had the center
pole placed with its base just on the edge of a
hole, and they had the roof material properly
placed on the top of the roof support pole.
The next thing to do now was to get one of the
remaining poles and tie a rope from the top of the
center pole to a horse, while running the rope
over the top of this pole. It was to be used as a
gin pole. When all was in readiness Ng stood at
the base of the center pole. One boy was with the
horse and the other on a guiding rope tied to the
center pole at a point under the roof. Chi Sang
was on another support rope opposite and tied
likewise to the center post on the inside.
The rope tied to the horse was also tied
inside. On cue, the boy and horse moved slowly
forward. Ng guided the center post into the
waiting hole and the other two helped keep it
going straight. Once Ng has the center post in the
hole he ran out of the ger to the side directly
opposite the horse and picked up a rope that was
waiting for him. The center post was now being
guided by ropes from four directions. Once in
place these ropes were pegged down and the center
post was made solid by burying the base. It was
now into the ground about two feet with earth
packed all around it. The horse was again put
into the remuda and the family continued to
complete the task of erecting the ger.
By suppertime the task was complete and Chi
Sang was able to cook the evening meal inside the
ger. This was a common practise when oil was used
as the source for heat.
Even though the ger was set up the same as it
was over winter it was again new to them. They had
been without for five days and it was nice to be
back inside where they would be out of the wind
and kept warm. Moving, at any time was a major
event. They did this twice a year even in normal
years.
Chi Sang had arranged the tapestries a little
differently, placed the cooking facilities a
little differently and it caused the family to
think things were new.
They settled in for the night. The following
morning Ng had a conversation with the boys. He
discussed with them his upcoming trip to help the
two ladies cross the Himalayas.
"Dad, they may not even be there."
"Son, I said I would guide them. I will guide
them."
In that way as in many other ways the boys
learned that to keep one's word was important
within the community in order to keep the respect
of the community.
Ng told them what he wanted them to do while
he was away. Of course he wanted them to look out
for the needs of their Mother. Then he wanted the
oldest one to take one of the horses and go to the
town in the south and trade for cloth and food.
Now that they had a never ending supply did not
mean they should not continue to do as the
community expected. Besides they could now trade
for a few luxuries, like a new cooking pot for
their Mother. Ng wanted his oldest boy to go by
himself this trip. He had gone before, with Ng,
but it was now time for him to do this on his own.
He explained that he would stay today and
enjoy the community and his family but he was
going to set out tomorrow. He knew it would be
faster by horse so he wanted his second son to
come with him. Once they had found the ladies then
he would proceed on foot while his second boy
would return home with the horses. There would be
a short while where Chi Sang could be alone
without difficulty, but not more than five days.
He checked this out with Chi Sang and she
agreed to the plan. He would also tell his closest
friend, within the village, of the plans so he
could keep an eye out to help if needed.
When all this was done Ng was ready to travel.
Chi Sang would prepare food for the journey and
the pair of them would leave in the morning. The
oldest son would leave on his journey in a weeks
time. The youngest would be back within two weeks.

HA! HA! HA!
A group of managers is trying to calculate the height
of a flag pole. They try to measure its height by
lining up their thumbs and then turning the thumb 90
degrees and marking a spot on the ground. Then they try
to use its shadow and trig functions, but no luck.
A engineer comes by and watches for a few minutes. He
asks one of the managers what they're doing.
"We're trying to calculate the height of this flag
pole."
The engineer watches a few minutes more and then,
without saying a word, he walks over, pulls the pole
out of the ground, lays it down, measures it, writes
the measurement on a piece of paper, gives it to one of
the managers and walks away.
The manager looks at the paper, snickers and says to
the other managers: "Isn't that just like an engineer?!
We're trying to calculate the height and he gives us
the length."
