--------------
How far can a kangaroo jump?
A large kangaroo can clear more than thirty feet in one
jump.
Is it true the White House has its own bowling alley?
Yes. Bowling lanes were first built in 1947 in the basement
of the West Wing, but were moved to the Old Executive Office
Building in 1955. In 1969, President Nixon added a one-lane
alley to an underground workspace area below the driveway
leading to the North Portico. The president and Mrs. Nixon
were both avid bowlers.

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW! . . . with Dr. Rhoberta Shaler
-----------------
Why Can't They Be More Like Me?
Do you think your workplace would benefit from being staffed
by clones of yourself? Would that solve all the little
issues that annoy, irritate or upset you often? Really?
Well, who would do the things you do not like to do? Who
would make the coffee? <G>
Learning to value our differences is a major psychological
hurdle to get over. It seems that no matter where you look,
people are in conflict, even at war, because their beliefs
are different, their roots are different, or their history
is different. In the workplace, it may be because their
approach, background or style is different. The problem
only occurs, of course, when either party makes an
assumption: an assumption that being different means one
side is important or right, and the other is secondary or
wrong!
Sure, some differences are very troubling. If you are
working or living with a person who hears voices telling
them to hurt others, this is an unacceptable difference. It
is clear that help is required. Most differences are just
as irritating as we decide to let them be. That's where
your power lies.
Any way you look at it, we usually like people who are like
ourselves. We are more comfortable with them and more
accepting of their little quirks and slips. We tend to clan
together with those who share our interests, world views,
political attitudes and general outlooks on life, don't we?
That's natural. BUT, that does not make the other folks
wrong!
In the workplace, there is real value in differences. This
is particularly true when working on a project. Differing
points of view, managed with excellent communication skills
and a healthy respect for one another, often lead to greater
creativity. Folks with different skills and interests can
separate a project out into reasonable parts and do an
excellent job of the finished product. If the group were
comprised of all folks who thought alike, would there be
such a likelihood of creativity?
Seek to understand the folks around you. That's the
important part. You may not be ready to value them, but, do
make the effort to understand where they look at the world
from. Don't guess, though, ask and listen.
The psychologist, Carl Jung, suggested that the notion of
being understood really means to be embraced, to be
interpreted correctly. Do you take the time to understand
those folks you feel are quite different from you? Do you
demonstrate interest? Do you truly listen? Do you listen
with an open mind and a willingness to understand? It's a
good idea to do that if you're working with them, isn't it?

Vitamins For Chronic Disease Prevention In Adults
(scientific review and clinical applications)
Two American Medical Association Journal (JAMA) Articles On
The Use Of Supplementation For Adults
PART 8 of 11
Now please follow my line of thinking. Why might you have a
chronic condition? Could it be because your immune system
isnt strong enough to keep you healthy? Could it be because
you are lacking in nutrients? What if you replaced those
missing nutrients? Could you possibly reverse this
degenerative condition? Doesnt this scientific research
give you a little more hope that it might be a path to
explore?
Let me plant a thought in your head. Does it not seem that
the symptoms of your unhealthy condition are inconsistent?
You have good days and not so good ones, right? Why would
that be? Is your body healthier on some days than others?
Why could that be? And how would you increase the number of
good days versus the number of bad days? Maybe like eating
things that feed your body better? Like supplements that
supply your body with everything it needs? Could good days
be a remission? Could bad days be exacerbations or flare
up? And what could be causing those good days? Could it
possibly be that on good days your immune system is healthy
enough? That you might have more good nutrients in your body
to support our body doing what it is meant to do? Let your
mind dwell on this.
You now have learned that it is possible to heal your immune
system. Let your mind wander a bit and ask yourself how you
could make some changes to promote this on a more frequent,
more controlled basis. What would you have to do? I suspect
taking a top-notch quality nutritional supplement would head
the list. But I would also ask you to consider what else is
going into your body right now that adds to the problem. In
other words, what are you taking into or onto your body that
is NOT supporting its health? Would your symptoms be
lessened if you didnt do those things? Would it be worth an
experiment? Could this be a viable alternative to surgery or
drugs? It is worthwhile exploring: the outcomes might be
very surprising and very pleasing.
Keep these questions and thoughts in mind as you print off
the abstracts.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure

4Now for the story
"Of course, Old One. You are perplexed about your
upcoming journey?"
"Some. As a young man I was close to death. I spent some
time in that condition and learned death is not to be feared
but welcomed. Somehow I recovered, was sent back, or thrown
out, I don't know, but anyway I was allowed to live. That
experience shaped the rest of my life."
"Yes. I know." Sam laughed a little. "Thrown out?"
"I don't know how to say it. I was permitted to live, I
came back from whatever place that was. It was wonderful Mr.
Sam. I don't think a day has gone by since that day that I
don't think on it. As I sit here these days, knowing I am
going to return to that place I see it clearly. It brings
peace unto this old heart and I look forward to the journey.
I just don't know where it goes or what happens."
"Does it matter, Old One?"
"No, Sam, it is curiosity only. I know this wedding I
shall perform for your son is the last thing I will do here.
Then I don't know what."
"Old One. I have seen your future. You will like it. You
will go with friends, powerful friends. You will be with
them and I will see you often. You have done very well in
this life and you have kept this village at peace. Many
times young men wanted to go out and fight and you held them
back. Many times others wanted to come in here and fight.
You persuaded them to come and sit. Doing that diffused
their desire to hurt and destroy. This village is unique in
all of Africa because of your wisdom. That is what you
gained that day you died. You have kept this village on
track and when Billy came to ask you if he could teach the
young in this village you were inwardly thrilled. At the
same time you knew you were no longer needed and that your
time was rapidly coming. I will not tell you what or when
this will happen for you. I will only tell you that you will
be quite happy with what happens and that I will be able to
sit in council with you. This shall be a reward for all your
efforts for and on behalf of mankind. You have worked for
more than this village. You have influenced many who have
gone far and wide, taking your wisdom with them."
"Mr. Sam, I appreciate your compliments but I am an Old
One. I need them not, only friendship. I knew you were that
friend from the very first time I saw you. You were sitting
over at Mombudo's. You had come home with Sonora. You and
she had been to some fight somewhere and you were trying to
help those who were injured. Your daughter was with you. She
has come here often. I see in her the same qualities I see
in you. She, too, is a dear friend. Does she know it is my
time and what will happen?"
"Old One there are five here who know it is your time.
They are Billy, Riata, Ben, my daughter and myself. Each of
the others will be over to speak with you sometime today.
You have not met Riata. She is a young lady who started an
orphanage for parent-less kids in a city in South America.
In her country there was a church organization that wanted
her orphanage so bad they eventually shot her. They thought
if she wasn't there the orphanage would disintegrate.
However, the people were so surprised to see four friends of
hers descend from the sky, pick her up and take her back
that way, that the orphanage set up a shrine to her memory.
Even to this day there are line ups day and night to get to
the shrine. It brings in much money the church wants to get
their hands on. They have tried twice since and will likely
try again when they move in a new bishop. She is a wonderful
lady, favored among us and worthy of your attention. Ben is
a former policeman in my country. He's big and carries
himself with authority but he is a soft hearted and wise
man."
"I should like to meet these people. If they are friends
of yours they are friends of mine."
"Old One, I will take my leave now. You have a good day
and if I see you not later I will most certainly be with you
tomorrow. Is there anything I may do that would be of help
to you today or tomorrow?"
"No, Mr. Sam. Thank you for dropping by. It is good to
speak with you as a friend."
Sam reached out to shake the Old Ones hand. In that
instant he sent overpowering love into the man and the man's
aura shone 20 feet in all directions. He was empowered and
energized. Sam smiled. The Old One smiled back. Both knew.
When Riata saw Sam back at the guest village she quietly
excused herself from her family with whom she was talking
and gently walked into the village. The Old One saw her
across the common and knew immediately who she was and that
she was coming to see him. She was the vision of an angel.
She shone and as she walked it appeared as if she didn't
even touch the ground. It was as if she were floating. When
she arrived she asked permission to sit and council with
him.
"Yes. You are the one they call Riata. Mr. Sam told me
you would come. You are a beautiful woman. I am pleased to
be in your company. Mr. Sam said you were shot. This you did
for the work?"
"That was a long time ago. The church in my city was
trying to get their hands on the orphanage where I was
working. They wanted control of the kids. That way they
could raise them to be strong church members. They did
everything they could to no avail, until finally they made
an agreement with a man who said he would do their bidding.
I knew this was going to happen so I counseled with my
friends. They advised me to go through with it. It was
scary, yet I knew I had to do it. I faced the man and told
him to shoot. Once he did then the scary part was over. My
friends came to get me and rendered me whole once more."
Riata stopped momentarily and looked him square in the eye.
She prepared a beverage for both of them. While still
holding it in her hands she began again with her story.

Ga-Ga. Why do we say a person in love is "ga-ga" over the

falls open and the only sounds that come out are "ga-ga-ga."

HA! HA! HA!
Dear Spike,
I have been unable to sleep since I forced my daughter to
break off her engagement to you. Will you forgive and
forget?
I was much too sensitive about your Mohawk, tattoo, and
pierced nose. I now realize motorcycles aren't really that
dangerous, and I really should not have reacted the way I
did to the fact that you have never held a job.
I am sure, too, that some other very nice people live under
the bridge in the park.
Sure, my daughter is only 17 and wants to marry you instead
of going to Harvard on a full ride scholarship. After all,
you can't learn everything about life from books. I
sometimes forget how backward I can be. I was wrong. I was a
fool. I have now come to my senses, and you have my full
blessing to marry my daughter.
Sincerely,
Your future father-in-law
