When was the last time a supervolcano erupted?
Scientists believe the last one erupted about 74,000 years
ago in Indonesia to form a giant lake in the middle of the
island of Sumatra. The fact that Lake Toba was formed by a
huge volcano was discovered in 1949 by Dutch geologist can
Bemmelen who realized that the lake was surrounded by a vast
layer of ignimbrite rocks. Later researchers found rhyolite
ash similar to that in the ignimbrite around Toba in
Malaysia and even 3000 kilometers away in India! More Toba
ash was found on the floor of the eastern Indian Ocean and
the Bay of Bengal. Scientists speculate that the eruption
lasted two weeks and killed nearly all the plants and
animals in the area. They also say the ash it spewed into
the atmosphere blocked the sun and caused the Earth's
temperature to drop.
Where is there a supervolcano in the US?
Next time you visit Yellowstone Park, remember what you
learned about supervolcanoes. Underneath the national park
is one of the largest supervolcanoes in the world. Here's
more bad news: scientists believe that it has been on a
regular eruption cycle of 600,000 years and that the last
eruption was 640,000 years ago. Yep, that means we're
overdue. Worse news: volcanologists have been tracking the
movement of magma under Yellowstone and have calculated that
in parts of the park, the ground has risen over 70
centimeters this century. They don't know if this is just
the harmless movement of lava from one part of the reservoir
to another or something more sinister. But if Yellowstone
DOES erupt, it would be cataclysmic, affecting not just the
US but the whole world..

Iceland comes first in broadband
Cable broadband is losing out to higher speed connections
Iceland is most web-savvy country, with a study showing it
has the highest concentration of broadband users.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
found that broadband was also widespread in South Korea, the
Netherlands and Denmark.
But the US still has the most broadband users, with more
than 49 million.
Overall broadband subscriptions in OECD countries jumped
from 136 million to 158 million in the six months to
December 2005.
The OECD figures revealing Iceland topping the list of
broadband users were a surprise as South Korea is regularly
touted as being the most wired nation on Earth following
government drives to get people using fast net connections.
Fibre and cable
According to the economic group, Iceland has 78,017
broadband subscribers and South Korea 12,190,711.
TOP FIVE BROADBAND OECD COUNTRIES
Iceland: 26.7%
Korea: 25.4%
Netherlands: 25.3%
Denmark: 25%
Switzerland: 23.1%
The leading countries in broadband use per capita all had
more than 25% of their net users subscribing to such a
service. Iceland led the field on 26.7%.
By comparison, the UK was ranked 12th with 15.9%, just
behind the US with 16.8%.
The study also found the rate of people taking up broadband
remained at an average of 15%.
Japan followed the US in the largest number of broadband
users, with 22.5 million. It also leads in
fibre-to-the-premises usage, with 4.6 million fibre
subscribers by the end of 2005.
BROADBAND USERS IN OECD COUNTRIES
United States: 49.4 million
Japan: 22.5 million
Korea: 12.2 million
Germany: 10.7 million
UK: 9.5 million
The number of fibre subscribers in Japan now outnumbers the
total of broadband users in 21 of the 30 OECD countries.
In Korea, fibre-based broadband connections grew 52.4%
during the second half of 2005. However, despite the growth
in the number of users connecting via fibre, the statistics
reveal that DSL remains the leading broadband technology in
28 OECD countries.
In the US and Canada, cable subscribers outnumber those that
use DSL.

Blood, Its Circulation And Its Pressure
PART 4 of 10
Blood is meant to be in predetermined areas (contained in its
transportation systems) and not in other areas. By that I mean
blood floes naturally in your nose, but a nosebleed needs to be
investigated. And blood in your urine must not be ignored. That
is outside its natural boundaries, which include the kidneys and
your bladder.
When blood shows up in unusual places something is wrong and
needs to be investigated. Because it circulates all through your
body, any abnormality or infection can easily be carried along
with it. Blood without boundaries is simply fluid. It needs to
be contained in some form and sent all over your body,
systematically and consistently. This means a network of
passageways. This network is called the circulatory system. It
provides the means for the blood's "mission" to be fulfilled.
All this starts at birth and ends in death. There is no normal
part of you that is without a blood supply, but there may be
some areas after a trauma that won't receive any "service". No
blood: no life. But that doesn't mean all of you dies. It may
mean just a part does. Your body is very organized and in order
to maintain balance, it will "borrow" from one cell to another.
(Balance/ homeostasis)
Just as you don't carry clean and dirty laundry together, blood
doesn't get carried in the same vessels. There are two "one way"
passages: arteries and veins. Just like a river or a tunnel,
something has to allow the entire set of ingredients to reach
the end of the line, intact. A healthy passageway or "lumen" is
clean, smooth and has no debris attached to it anywhere along
the walls. The fluid is propelled along without any
interruptions or blockages. The walls are elastic and move in a
rhythmic pattern, consistently.

4Now for the story
The three couples looked at one another. They each
wanted to marry but this was incredible. It never occurred
to them to have a wedding like this. That this was arranged
without their knowledge and that it felt so right made the
entire affair an incredible experience.
The hearts of each of them was so consumed by love and
joy it was difficult for them to concentrate.
Even the Old One had a lump in his throat so big he
could not speak for a while. He just stood there with his
arms raised. In his lifetime he had never been involved with
anything so emotional. That his time had come was a thought
no longer in his mind. This experience had taken over all
his life. Yet, what a reward for a last duty. He had no idea
he was going to be called upon to do this, until this
morning when Sam and Ben had called on him. Even then it
appeared to be a strictly mechanical thing, having two
additional couples standing up front. He was not prepared
for the enormous emotional reaction on the part of everyone.
It had taken over.
Finally he was able to speak. "My blessings I give unto
you." He waved his hands over the heads of the couples
standing before him.
"No greater honor has been given any man than to perform
this wedding. We began with the idea we would marry Billy
and Sonora. It grew to include Amenti and Reno and Tom and
Tlang. They have come to witness the marriage of Billy and
Sonora and ended up in the ceremony themselves as
participants for marriage. This has surprised many of you
who prepared for only the one couple, yet to many of you is
given such intense love and joy as a result of this new
development I ask you take it to heart and cherish this day
for the rest of your lives. It is unlikely you will
experience such intense love and joy again. Worry not over
the rest of the wedding. This wedding is for all. Enjoy.
We gather to marry these people. Is there any of you who
know any cause why any of these couples should not marry?"
He waited for a very short while. "This wedding serves
two purposes. First of all it is a significant event in the
lives of those being married. It permits them to know we
accept their wish to spend the rest of their lives together,
to have and raise children and to participate as responsible
citizens and as a family, in the affairs of the villages in
which they live.
Next, it is for all of us, so we may realize they are
now married and are completely entitled to the respect,
honor and privacy that is to be given those who are married.
Do all here recognize these couples as being married?" Again
the Old One waited.
There was a very loud cheer from all the villagers and
onlookers. There was no doubt all saw these newlyweds as
married couples and they would be treated so.
"Unto you standing before me. Do you each take your
mates, to honor them, love them, respect them and serve them
until you shall die?" He looked at Amenti and Reno. Each of
them said "I do." Then he looked at Billy and Sonora, "I
do." And finally he looked at Tom and Tlang, "I do."
From all six he extracted the voluntary "I do." It is
not for me to offer you the blessings of your God for each
of you knows your Maker better than I. It is my place,
though, to offer you the blessings of man and I am wholly
authorized by this village to offer unto you all the love,
blessings and respect they can offer. Each has come to me,
separately, and asked me to inform you they love you deeply
and dearly and are most pleased you came to live here, Billy
and Sonora, and I am permitted to extend those blessings
unto you Amenti and Reno and unto you Tom and Tlang."
He stepped back about three paces and held his hands in
the air again. "These couples have, in your presence as
witnesses, pledged themselves each to the other. They have
pledged to honor, love, respect and serve one another. I
accept their pledge as being sincere and I now pronounce
them each couple to be man and wife."
A loud horrendous cheer went up from all the village.
There was joy in heaven this day over this event. For all
the village this had become a special day.
Then it happened.
A most brilliant ball of light was seen far away above
the Old One and far, far behind him. It was an awe inspiring
sight and held the villagers, guests and all silent. This
light emanated love and it was focused upon the entire
village.
Slowly, ever so slowly this light was becoming larger as
it was coming closer. It did not seem to be in any hurry.
It was so brilliant it was as if the sun was coming down to
earth, yet it was not hot like the sun. In its brilliance,
even more than the sun, it did not make things hard to see.
It did not blind men but commanded their attention. It did
not produce fear amongst the villagers this day, where six
months earlier it would have. Today it manifested love the
villagers had each experienced before from all their guests
and from Billy and Sonora. The village was comfortable with
this event even though they had not ever experienced it
before.
The ball of light was huge and it was getting closer.
There was a warmth from it, an all encompassing, pleasant,
desirable kind of warmth. Still it approached, silently.
It was now over the wall and it was getting lower. The
light itself was so brilliant the wall was no longer
visible.
The Old One had turned around with his back to the
couples. He stepped back until he was just in front of them.
He was wholly conscious and alive. It was as if he knew what
this was. He knew he was loved. Never had he felt so
complete as he did this moment.
