Three cities -- Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae -- were
destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius (near modern-day
Naples) in 79 A.D. The ruins were not discovered until the
late 1500s and formal excavation began in 1748. The cinders
and ash that buried the cities also kept them intact, so
much so that the wall paintings were bright and not faded.

Group demands Da Vinci disclaimer
The Da Vinci Code actor Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks stars in The Da Vinci Code film
Catholic group Opus Dei has asked for a disclaimer to be
placed on the film of The Da Vinci Code, released next
month.
The organisation said it had written to Sony Pictures
executives in Japan to ask the studio to emphasise that the
film was a work of fantasy.
Based on Dan Brown's novel, The Da Vinci Code claims Jesus
Christ married Mary Magdalene and had children, which was
covered up by the Catholic Church.
Sony has said it is not a religious film, and is not meant
to criticise.
"Some media have written that Sony is examining the
possibility of putting at the beginning of the film an
announcement to clarify that it is a work of fantasy and
that any similarity with reality is purely coincidental,"
Opus Dei said in a statement.
"Any such decision by Sony would be a gesture of respect
toward the figure of Jesus, to the history of the Church,
and to the religious beliefs of viewers."
Catholic criticism
Opus Dei, which critics say is secretive and
ultra-conservative, has previously called for changes to be
made to the film's final edit, and asked for it to be given
adults-only ratings.
Other members of the Roman Catholic Church have also voiced
their concern.
On Good Friday, the preacher for the papal household
denounced theories which he said made huge profits in
denying the teachings of the Catholic Church.
"Christ is still sold, but not any more for 30 coins, but to
publishers and booksellers for billions of coins," Rev
Raniero Cantalamessa said in a homily at St Peter's
Basilica.
"No-one succeeds in stopping this speculative wave, that
instead will register a boom with the imminent release of a
certain film."
However, he did not refer to the film or Dan Brown's novel
by name.
The movie, which stars Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou, will
open this year's Cannes film festival on 17 May, two days
before it is released worldwide.

Blood, Its Circulation And Its Pressure

Arteries, veins, and the circulatory system are the
transportation corridor or system that blood circulates through.
"Arterial" blood is blood that has just been cleaned and is full
of good things such as these nutrients, chemicals, and oxygen.
(Transported by the arteries) comes from the lungs, with a fresh
load of oxygen, and stops along the way to pick up chemicals and
nutrients. These nine "body" systems are all served or connected
to this lifeline. The arteries get smaller and smaller as they
branch out more and more to cover the entire body. Eventually
they drop their life-giving load to the tiniest cell.
In the individual cells, the oxygen and the nutrients and
chemicals are dropped off. A return network (venous
circulation: oxygen removed) will pick up the waste products
that are created through "metabolism". It is a much more relaxed
or passive system and needs the help of valves to keep the blood
from flowing back to the extremities. That's why the blood
doesn't stay in your feet if you stand up a lot...or pool in
your backside if you sit a lot.)
Metabolism encompasses all the physical and chemical processes
within the body that create and use energy, such as digesting
food and nutrients, eliminating waste, breathing, circulating
blood, temperature regulation.
BLOOD PRESSURE is the pressure of the blood pushing against the
walls of the arteries. It's like a garden hose. If there is only
a trickle, it can't perform much. If it's too fast, it can blow
a hole in the wall of the vessel (tube). And it can blow through
debris that might form clots. It's usually lowest in the morning
as you have been resting all night. As the day progresses, it
gets higher. If you have to monitor it, choose roughly the same
time each day and the same machine and the same clothing. Rest a
few minutes when you get to the machine. Do not compare readings
from mornings to afternoons, or machine to machine, especially
digital and mercury ones.
There are two readings: the first (opening or top) reading is
the "systolic". It is the pressure of the blood when the heart
muscle contracts and presses against the artery wall. The
second, lower, "diastolic" is the reading when the heart rests
between heartbeats. Normal values are a systolic of 110 to 130
and diastolic of between 60 to 80. Over the length of my nursing
career, I have witnessed many changes in the interpretation of
blood pressure values and readings. Some did not make much sense
to me. If this might be a problem for you, do your own research.

4Now for the story
Because the Old One had been forewarned by Sam that
something would likely happen during the wedding ceremony,
he was expecting something, but not like this.
He really didn't know what he expected, but this was
amazing, so fulfilling.
The light ball finally touched down and remained still.
It shed light over everyone, included them such that if
anyone was looking at the village from afar all they would
see was this unusual ball of light.
From its midst stepped four men.
Sien, Jesus, Mohammed and Buddha.
Sien stepped forth, arms raised.
"My blessings I send unto you. This day is a joyous one
for those of us who have worked and played with these
people. They are loved deeply by people all over the world
and especially those who live by higher law. Each has worked
long and tirelessly to help mankind in all sorts of places
and times. None shirk their duty, all are ready to serve.
They are to be honored, respected and loved. It is a
terrific joy that I might be invited to this wedding. It is
even more of a joy to see all three couples arrayed as
brides and grooms. Each has a special place in our hearts
and it is an honor to offer my blessings. "
Sien once more raised his arms and from the palms of his
hands shot out a beam of light to everyone attending this
wedding. Those who were infirm were made whole. Those who
did not know they were ill were made whole and an intense
life filling love filled their bodies.
Then Mohammed stepped forth. He, too, raised his hands
and offered blessings unto all present. "To live by higher
law is to transcend the foolish religions of man. Where I
can I ask all to join me in higher law. It is sad this day,
to see those of all men's religions claim their doctrine so
tightly they are prepared to die for it. Today the teachings
I offered, in my time, have been reworded and taught in ways
that shame me. I taught love not war, peace, not malcontent.
Men are unsatisfied with what they see and they claim it is
not as I said. They use me as an excuse to kill. I disown
them. They are no disciples of mine. Love alone is the way.
Peace is the way. Going inside to meet one's Maker is the
way. Lose not sight of what you have been taught for it will
bring you to that place of peace, love and prosperity. Yet,
only when you follow the rules. The church does not teach
the rules."
Buddha stepped forth. "For those of you who doubt, fret
not. You are on the correct path. It is the one Billy and
Sonora travel. Tom and Tlang and Amenti and Reno all have
gone before you. As you believe so shall it be done unto
you. Heed and you shall claim the victory."
All three men stepped to the rear and to one side. From
out of the center of the ball of light stepped Jesus. His
aura shone unto all.
"You call me the son of God. You say this with no
recognition whatever that your status is the same. I am
looked upon by your Maker with no greater favor than you are
looked upon. Separation from your God has been created by
you and you are wrong. Your Maker has been with you always
and all you have to do is clearly know that. Your Maker
lives inside your breast and wants nothing but peace, power
and prosperity for you. Heed the call."
Jesus raised his arms, palms toward the audience. "From
this moment there shall remain no impediment to keep you
from higher law. At this moment you need only say 'Yes' and
you shall claim the prize. You may from this moment cross
over the veil of simplicity and live by higher law. The Old
One has prepared you and caused you to listen to Billy and
Sonora. In his wisdom he has blazed the trail for you. His
time has come and he knows he shall be leaving you. He has
been looking forward to it for some time. What he has not
known is the day and time. The Old One has performed his
last duty, the wedding of these three couples. I have come
to take him home with me."
Jesus held out his arms to the Old One, who walked over
and hugged Jesus. As he did, his body was transformed,
renewed and invigorated. When he released the hug and stood,
he turned around to face the villagers. The villagers were
in awe. The Old One was once more a young man filled with
vim and vigor. His hair was black and bushy, his muscles
were toned and filled. No longer was he skinny that you
could count bones. He was muscular, young, energized, and he
radiated an aura that spanned those in attendance.
Jesus came forward unto the three couples. One by one he
took their hands and blessed them, each as a single and then
as a couple. The love was so intense it was almost
impossible to bear. Yet none would have missed this moment.
When done, Jesus stepped back. He raised his hands over
the crowd. "Unto you, me beloved, I give you my blessings
and the blessings of my Maker, that you might from this day
live as your Maker wants." A beam of light shot out and into
the heart of each one present.
There were murmurs, cries, tears. The villagers had been
working so hard to serve Billy and Sonora, yet here it was
they who were being served.
The four who had come in the ball of light turned and
began walking back into it. Jesus stopped and held out his
hand to the Old One. The Old One looked at the village, said
his good-byes, made his peace in earth and turned to take
Jesus' hand. All five men walked out of sight into the ball
of light and it began to lift. Slowly it returned to where
it had come from.
The Old One was gone.

The owner said,

than anyone has sold in a week. Tell me, what do you say to
the people when they come to the door?"
