ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Is it true the snakehead can walk on land?
Yes. A snakehead fish can grow three feet long, can live out
of water for three days, and can even walk on land using its
extended pectoral fins! So the fear in Maryland is that the
pond snakeheads will soon walk on over to the Little
Patuxent River, which is 75 feet away, and from there enter
waterways all over the state.
Why are they called "snakeheads"?
They don't really look like snakes, but snakehead fish DO
have snake-like scales on their heads. That, and the fact
that they can move on the ground out of water, gives them
their name.

What Are You Saying And Who Is Listening?
When you speak, who is listening? This is the most
important question you need to consider if you want to
change or improve your life!
Certainly, words are important when you are talking with
another person. My point today, though, is that they are
doubly important when you are speaking to yourself. You
know--those times when you think no one is listening, no one
can hear you! A very important person IS listening. You.
The most important conversation you will ever have is the
one you hold with yourself. And, we're all very sneaky
about it. We say things to ourselves that we would NEVER say
to another person. We are too thoughtful, too polite and
too concerned with keeping the other's self-esteem intact to
ever say those things our loud, aren't we? Yet, we will say
them to ourselves.
In my keynotes and seminars, I often ask my audiences to
make me a promise. At first, they are tentative and unsure
as to the wisdom of making any promise--especially to a
person they do not know. After thirty-seconds or so,
though, most folks raise their right hands and repeat these
invaluable words after me: "I promise to never say anything
about myself that I do not want to be true, even when I am
speaking to myself in my head."
Wow! That is a very large promise with much larger
repercussions. What if you truly gave up any conversation
in your head that did not reflect the person you most want
to be? That might create a fair amount of dead air space in
your mind at first.
Many people beat themselves up, tear themselves down and
repeatedly undermine their self-esteem in a relentless way.
You've heard people make self-effacing remarks.
"Oh, I'm so stupid."
"There I go again. I always make that same mistake."
"I'm just not cut out for success."
What is the chatter in your head? If you had to record it,
would it be uplifting, affirming and inspiring? If not, the
good news is you can change it. And, changing it will
change your life.
When I wrote my book, What You Pay Attention to Expands, I
included insights and ideas on how to change your focus to
change your results. It all begins with the conversation in
your mind with the conversation.
Focus on what you want to create in life, not on past
failures. Focus on what you like about yourself, not on
your faults.
When you look at yourself in the mirror, pay attention to
the parts you find attractive. Bernie Siegel related a
story about a woman with multiple sclerosis who was quite
overweight and wheel-chair bound. She decided to learn to
love her body and daily sat naked in front of a mirror. She
began with loving her eyes and loving herself through her
eyes. She went on to be grateful for and appreciating other
things about her body until she could honestly love and
accept her body as it was from head to toe. The miracle was
that she went into remission about the same time as she came
to honestly love and be thankful for her body and how it
served her.
Coincidence? Maybe. Each one of us would certainly be
healthier if we could come to appreciate the vehicle that
allows us to function in this world. Yet, we often insist
on seeing our flaws in a much brighter light than our
beauty, our shortcomings more clearly than our gifts. We
measure ourselves by some air-brushed magazine image, or
some other comparison that makes as little sense. Change
that!
Take charge of the conversation in your head. Focus it to
reflect your best self at all times. That does not mean
that you are unaware of things you wish to improve, but that
you focus on the outcomes you most want. Spend no time
reinforcing the negative by giving it air-time in your head.
That's a waste of energy.
Speak well of yourself to yourself and others. It is not
arrogant or conceited to speak well of yourself. Arrogance
and conceit are only present when you compare yourself to
others and insist on your superiority.
It may seem strange at first. Keep at it. Be your own best
friend. See the good in yourself and make that the
conversation in your head. Try it. Never again say anything
about yourself that you don't want to be true! Your life
will change.

Bones: Dont Take Your Support
System For Granted
PART 2 of 9
The smallest part of your body is the basic unit or
component: the cell. Each cell performs the same basic
and common activities in order to perform its mission
as a whole body. (Just as we as individuals are all
different, we still have the same parts to make us do
our uniqueness.) Those same functions of reproduction,
nourishment, and waste management keep you alive. Its
how you stay clean and grow and keep going. This
would include our expectation of having our hair grow,
our skin cells renew themselves, or new and healthier
kidney cells come back. It includes nail growth. We
expect this constant and ongoing growth to continue,
automatically.
Therefore these functions must not be interrupted or
eliminated. If they are, dont expect normal results.
You would not expect your computer to function without
its usual software. So dont expect your body to
function without its requirements. Its a computer. It
functions automatically. ). But lets concentrate on
bones. What are they? What do they look like? Bones are
made of fibrous tissue called connective tissue. It
is essentially solid and hard tissue: very dense. It is
immovable. If the immovable parts that support the body
need to bend, joints are inserted. They are made up
of living tissue with blood supply and food
requirements. Most bones are spongy on the inside and
very dense or hard and strong on the outside. The
spongy inside path houses the manufacturing
facilities for bone marrow.
Bones come in many shapes and sizes. They are made up
of cells, although we don't really think of them as we
would a skin or brain cell. Small bones such as the
malleus, incus, and stapes are located in the tiny
confines of the middle ear. They work as a special
team (transmitting sounds). Large bones such as the
skull, femur, and pelvis work more independently but
are also connected to other bones.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

4Now for the story
Each of these two was a street kid. For the first eight
years of life, twelve in Amenti's case, they had to rob,
cheat, steal and do anything they could to get food or
clothing. More often than not they found food thrown out
behind some restaurant. Often they would have to beat the
cats or dogs away. Life was not pleasant, but they knew
nothing else until they ended up at Riata's orphanage.
That was the first and only home they ever had. She
treated them with love, kindness and respect. She required
no cheating or stealing. There was to be no bullying. She
insisted that all of us were equal, even the young or
infirm.
Slowly Riata was able to introduce the laws of life to
these two. They each listened, watched, saw, felt and
experienced. As they did they became more like Riata. As the
days went by they forgot about being on the street,
preferring instead to be here where they were not only loved
but they participated in work they thought was useful,
purposeful. They felt they were contributing and that they
were important. In fact they were all of those things.
Amenti, of course, pounced on any opportunity he could
to be near Reno. Before long it became known throughout the
orphanage that these two were an "item". Riata saw it too.
She loved the idea. Yet she knew there would be trouble if
these two suddenly had children on the way. She intensified
her teaching of the laws. She pushed them further toward
seeking their Maker.
Then came the fateful day when she was shot. She had
called together the kids at the orphanage and told them what
was going on and what was going to happen. She told the kids
that she had been talking with some friends of hers and that
they would be coming to take her away after she was shot and
they would cause her to be whole again, but it would mean
that while she was fine, she could no longer be here. She
would drop in from time to time so long as she could remain
out of sight.
She told the kids it would look like angels were coming
to take her up into the sky. People would think it was a
miracle and would come here to worship. The kids might
consider building a shrine that the people might come and be
healed.
All that had happened nearly 20 years ago now. Amenti
and Reno had trusted Riata, had followed her directions and
now they, too, live by higher law, on equal footing with
Riata.
Now, today, here they were sitting by the river on the
floor of the Grand Canyon in the U.S. While that seemed to
them to be fantastic the most incredible thing, and the
hardest to believe, was that they were married.
"Sam and Ben sure pulled a stunt on us. I had no idea
they were planning on making the wedding a triple one. I
sure hope Billy and Sonora don't mind us horning in."
"Amenti, my beloved. Fear not. I know Sam and Ben spoke
with Billy and Sonora before they did it. They both agreed,
in fact it made their wedding even more memorable. We will
all remember that day for the rest of our lives, not only
because it was the day we were married but because of the
surprises, the emotions and the glorious events of the day.
I love you Amenti. The more I think about it the more I
wonder why we didn't marry earlier."
Reno leaned into his chest as he put his arm around her.
This was love, completeness, fulfillment. Each wanted this
moment to remain forever. They spent the day at the rivers
edge just sitting and holding one another. They didn't even
make love, preferring instead the deep and unfettered love
they felt for one another just sitting and holding each
other.
Such were the first days of their alone time. They
basked in the sunlight and in each other. While they had
been soul-mates for a very long time this was the complete
realization of that condition. Hand in hand they would walk
up and down the canyon for as far as they could go in each
direction. They talked about the same old things, even
nothing, yet to them it was important. It helped the
"growing together" process.
Their intimate moments helped, too, of course. It caused
them to no longer be embarrassed at the private things they
had to do, like going to the bathroom or dressing in front
of each other. There were no secrets. All was exposed, and
each wanted things to be that way.
So the days passed for Amenti and Reno. It melded body
and soul of each of them into one unit.
In another part of the world, on the plains of the
Serengeti, were Tom and Tlang, also reeling from the sudden,
unexpected marriage of the pair of them. They had been
planning to marry, but Billy's and Sonora's announcement of
a wedding had beat them to it. So they decided to wait until
sometime after Billy after Sonora's wedding. The idea of a
triple wedding never crossed their minds, although a double
wedding with Amenti and Reno had.
Tom and Tlang thought they were going to surprise his
Mom and Dad, Sam and Alewka, with the announcement they were
going to marry.
Sam and Alewka had seen it coming for quite some time,
as had anyone who spent any time with the couple. They could
do nothing alone. They had to be together all the time,
everywhere.
However, as Sam was speaking with the Old One the idea
had come to him. He checked with Ben and with Alewka and
they all thought it would be a good idea. Sam went back to
the Old One and asked permission, which, along with a
sparkle in the Old One's eyes, he was given.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Vamp: Why are seductive women and firemen both called
"vamps"?
A seductive woman is called a "vamp" in allusion to the
"vampire" of folk lore - ghostly being that supposedly
sucked the blood of living persons. A fireman is called a
"vamp" because at one time in england "vamp" meant "to
tramp" or "walk" - and the volunteer firemen generally went
to the fires on foot..

they often ridiculed him for his object of adoration.
"Laugh all you want," Don told them. "At least my truck
