Does Niagara Falls freeze over in the winter?
Has Niagara Falls ever gone dry?

ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What makes a double rainbow?
Occasionally, a secondary rainbow may be seen, which is
considerably less intense than the primary bow and has its
color sequence reversed. The second bow results from light
that has undergone two internal reflections within the water
drop. Higher-order rainbows, resulting from three or more
internal reflections, are also possible but extremely rare
(thanks to the weakness of the reflections). On some
rainbows, you can also see "supernumerary arcs," which are
faintly colored rings just inside and near the top of the
primary bow. They're caused by interference effects on the
light rays emerging from the water droplet after one
internal reflection.
Is Niagara Falls the biggest waterfall in the world?
Niagara Falls is huge and thunderous, but it's not the
biggest waterfall in the world. It's the SECOND largest
falls on the globe next to Victoria Falls in southern
Africa. (The TALLEST falls is Angel Falls in Venezuela,
rising 3,212 feet above the floor of the jungle.) Niagara's
Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side, plunges 52 meters
(170 feet) into the Maid of the Mist Pool, while at the
American Falls the water's vertical descent ranges from 21
to 34 meters (70 to 110 feet) to the rock at the base of the
Falls.

STRANGE BITS AND PIECES!
A study revealed that men that were born with a low birth
weight were less likely to get married.

Women Are From Paris, Men Are From Vegas
The teacher asked a boy if he knows his numbers.
"Yes," he said. "I do. My father taught me."
"Good. What comes after three."
"Four," answers little boy.
"What comes after six?"
"Seven."
"Very good," says the teacher. "Your dad did a good
job. What comes after ten?"
The little boy smiled and said, "Jack."
Wouldn't you know it. Of course Jack comes after a ten.
I am about to head into stereotypical waters here and I
by no means think this is the case in every situation.
It is typical though, so bear with me.
I notice the way my sons spend time with their kids
doing homework and the like. It seems a man's
interests lie in different directions than doing that kind
of chore.
The grandchildren's mothers are happy, attentive, and
aware when it comes to helping the kids with the
homework. Their fathers appear to have their head
somewhere else. Now, take a kid to a hockey game, or
practice - thats a different story. Their fathers will do
that in a heartbeat.
So, you see, its perfectly logical that Jack comes
after ten.
I am so glad our Maker put both men and women in
this earth. Most men would not survive the culinary
jungle if it weren't for the mothering instincts of a woman.
Where a man may think globally he must leave it to
his wife or mate to look after the details.
And kids? They would be left to their own recognizance
if it weren't for mothers who care enough to teach and
train.
It is also commonly held that when it comes to love, the
ladies like things nice, calm, slow, meaningful. They
enjoy the meal out, the compliments and the niceties.
Men, however, have a tendency to be a little more
businesslike, to the point.
You do realize I am not sitting in judgment. I am only
observing patterns. I know there is a book out there
entitled "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus"
but coming down to earth I really think ,,,
Women Are From Paris, Men Are From Vegas

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - - by Karin Henderson
The Ins And Outs of Breathing
Every breath you take is vital to your survival
(This is not just discussion of the obvious - look!)
PART 6 of 10
Your body adapts in several ways to this natural occurrence, but
all of this will happen slowly. Many people never realise the
changes until something unexpected draws their attention to it.
You might then notice that the capacity of your lungs to contain
and "process" air drops considerably. Of course that brings a
reduced amount of oxygen moving into the body through the
alveoli. (Stairs and hills seem steeper. You get tired more
quickly.) Consequently it means a less effective way of getting
the waste products, such as carbon dioxide, out. Your body
tissue gradually looses its elasticity. That will mean a slower
rate of gas (O2 & CO2) exchange. And if it stays longer in your
body, as a waste product, it is less healthy. Your alveoli also
get larger, more sluggish, and less effective in their filtering
activities. Your respiratory rate increases. Your diaphragm and
other muscles loose their strength. Coughing will decrease in
strength, keeping the unwanted elements in a little longer.
Let's discuss some abnormal respiratory concepts. Once you
understand and are familiar with normal respiratory functions,
it's easier to make different decisions. Although we often think
it's normal to get diseases, as we grow older, it is
unnecessary. This is not aging: it's degeneration.
You will recall that your respiratory system or the track has a
wonderful lining of mucous membranes. When it is healthy, it is
soft, moist and firm and does its job very effectively. However
once it becomes "bothered by something, it changes. And when it
changes, it cannot provide the same protection any longer. A
short-term change isn't too harmful, but long-term damage can
create all sorts of problems. And as you can see from "walking a
breath" through the system, you need these activities to
function with energy.

PERCEPTIONS . . . by Ken Darby
-----------------------DISCLAIMER
Some around me think I am an opinionated old goat.
Whether that be true or not I will sometimes, in this column,
talk about things people don't like to talk about - or don't want
out in the open. Take it all with a grain of salt.
Do your own thinking, and don't accept the things I say as
gospel. They are only mental meanderings from a simple soul.

We Are Into Bugs Today
Sounds dumb doesn’t it.
The situation in the Solomons is grave. Aid is not arriving
fast enough and authorities are very concerned about disease
breaking out.
That is a natural occurrence after such an event as this
tsunami. People are without homes, food and water.
Surrounding them are dead animals and people plus all manner
of decaying garbage. The potential for disease is huge.
In another land, Japan, we find a superbug developing.
Influenza B is now become and mutating into a drug resistant
species.
H5N1 (Bird Flu) and the 1918 - 1921 influenza flu pandemic
that killed millions are/were Influenza A equally drug
resistant.
So it seems that more and more we are finding viruses and
bacteria that are immune to our drugs and getting themselves
ready to run rampant in pandemic fashion.
I hate to see that and I hope it doesn’t happen. The world
of medicine and science have their hands full just trying to
keep us safe.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
In the Same Boat: How die "all in the same boat" come to
mean equality of opportunity - or lack of it?
The allusion is to a shipwreck. When a ship is wrecked and
has to be abandoned, all distinction of class must be
abandoned as well. Each man must accept and share the common
fate - they're "all in the same boat."

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
We all need encouragement. We can live without it just
as a young tree can live without fertilizer, but unless
we receive that warm nurturing, we never reach our full
potential, and like the tree left to itself, we seldom
bear fruit.

HA! HA! HA!

cut it in six or twelve pieces.
She responded, ''Six, please. I could never eat twelve
pieces.''

While working on a lesson in world religions, a kindergarten
teacher asked her students to bring something related to
their family's faith to class.
At the appropriate time she asked the students to come
forward and share with the rest of the students.
The first child said, "I am Muslim and this is my prayer
rug."
The second child said, "I am Jewish and this is my Star of
David."
The third child said, "I am Catholic and this is my rosary."
The final child said, "I am Southern Baptist and this is my
casserole dish."
