"Liberty cabbage" was what Americans called sauerkraut
during World War I. The problem with sauerkraut was that it
was a German food and the Germans were the enemy. Rather
than give up the food, Americans renamed it.
Was Saint Patrick Irish?
Actually, no. Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland,
was born in 390 in England. He was captured by Irish
hooligans and taken to Ireland as a youth, where he spent
several years in slavery. He eventually was either freed or
escaped and returned to England to study for the priesthood.
In 435, he traveled back to Ireland to organize the
Christian church. He was made the patron saint of Ireland
for this work in converting Ireland to Christianity. March
17th is the day of his death.

You Could End Up Dead!
I took an hour and a half last night to view Al Gore’s
“Inconvenient Truth”. It was fascinating.
Gore at least has guts. He is continuing his talks in the
face of government ridicule and harassment. Yes, he thinks
the message must get out. I agree with him.
However, he touches too lightly on what the effects will be.
He shows maps of water flooding low lying coastal areas and
he shows pictures of land long in the clutches of drought
but he has failed to bring to you the message of what will
happen to you.
Sure we will have drought and in some places flooding. But
he stops short of telling you there will be a depression. He
stops short of telling you you will be out of work, have no
money and no food. All these things are the result of what
he is telling you.
He, ever so lightly, touches on the idea global warming
favors expansion of superbugs. He does not show you
graphically or any other way what superbugs will do. The
truth is they will kill millions of people - millions.
Gore is a crusader worthy of our attention. We should most
clearly heed his suggestions, but we won’t. That is to say
we will not until it is long too late.
Government is afraid of causing laws, bylaws and legislation
that appear to affect costs to business. The lobbyists in
Washington want things to remain as they are. They don’t
want changes unless it is they who conceive of them. It is
the same old story - money, money, money.
Until man gets that idea out of his head he continues to run
headlong into the doomsday conditions he has created. He
will, of course, claim he didn’t know what he was doing, but
he will keep on pushing for the almighty dollar.
And you, what are you doing about global warming? Oh, yeah,
I know. You’re changing your light bulbs to low power
consumption bulbs. I say that’s great. But what are you
doing to protect you from droughts, depressions, no money
and no food? Are you sitting in wait expecting the
government to do something?
I once visited a friend in a hospital. He had been hit by a
truck as he was crossing the road. “But I was in the
crosswalk!” he exclaimed. Sure he was, but just because you
are following a law does not mean your own life is no longer
your responsibility. You can be just as dead when you are
right, or in a crosswalk, as when you are jaywalking. In
other words, when that force, that vehicle, that event is
coming at you it is your responsibility to protect yourself.
So, too, with the global warming events and others that are
coming upon mankind. If you rely on others to protect you
then consider yourself dead.

Can you see then that a problems with inadequate amounts of
these requirements leaves vital life supporting help
unfulfilled?
Problems with blood or the lack of it can arise in several ways.
By now you know the importance of blood and its components. We
may only see the red liquid, but it carries vital cargo!
Problems can arise with
a) the blood itself as in anemia, cancer, or debris such as
potential clots
b) with the condition of the corridors system major trauma,
leaks (aneurysms) or wall build ups
c) blood components, not being available in adequate amounts
d) end cell (recipient) not being able to handle the blood as it
already has too many waste products, or the components not being
there, or the cell too weak from inadequate nutrients chemicals
and oxygen
There are other situations, but these fit into what we are
learning here.
Anemia is a condition in which there is a reduction in oxygen
cell delivery to the tissues. This is due to a reduction in the
number of red cells throughout the body: not just in one area.
It may result from increased destruction of red cells, excessive
blood loss or decreased production of red cells.

There are many types and potential causes of anemia.
Another health condition could be cancers in the form of
leukemia where you can have too many white blood cells and too
few platelets (for clotting) and red blood cells for carrying
oxygen. So you can see how a person could easily be tired (not
enough oxygen). They could have many infections, an imbalance in
white blood cells and red blood cells and could bleed more
easily. (Platelets missing.)
As mentioned earlier, hemoglobin is the most important component
of red blood cells. It is a protein that carries oxygen from the
lungs to the body's tissues, and carbon dioxide from the tissues
to the lungs to be exhaled (waste products). Abnormalities of an
individual's hemoglobin can effect red blood cell balance, which
in turn can effect many body functions, including energy levels.
Both low and high values can indicate unhealthy states. It's
always about balance. But think of it, if you can't get enough
oxygen being carried to your cells, you will be really depleted
in energy and that affects all you do or are motivated to do.
And this is what blood pressure is all about. It pushes blood
throughout the body with regular beats or contractions of your
heart, twenty-four hours a day. And the goal is to have a
sizable spread from the systolic reading to the diastolic
reading. That will indicate a healthy heart at work and then at
rest or recovery.

Every once in a while ones energy becomes focused on events
outside oneself. Tuesday’s killings at a Virginia college
certainly did that.
The world continued to turn as it was the day before but on
this day a group of young people died for no reason other
than one young man went off his rocker.
I, as well as you, believe that is terrible. But isn’t it
funny how we so willingly accept the idea that smoking, even
though it kills thousands every year, is still acceptable?
What makes one event different than the other?
Before twenty years had gone by there would be a very good
chance that twice that number of the students at that
Virginia college, would be dead from war, smoking, drinking,
drugs and any of the calamitous events sponsored by global
warming. So what makes it so mind blowing now?
Education is ironically the answer. You go about your day
expecting people to die from cancer. That’s okay. You go
about your day expecting people to have drug overdoses.
That’s okay. You go through your day expecting to hear of
millions starving. That’s okay. Your lifestyle has hardened
you to the realities of the world. The only thing different
here at the Virginia college is that it was not expected.
In you casual accepting of global warming you will also
accept anything it brings to your doorstep.
Only the foolish live life that way. Researching the options
is a good idea. In fact doing so will undoubtedly save your
life. This is where the biblical expression, the beatitude,
“The meek shall inherit the earth” comes in. The few who
prepare and get ready are the few who know that neither guns
or money will be the answer. They will ready themselves and
will survive these events. Those who do not prepare will
perish.

Narrow Back: How did a dandy come to be called a "narrow
back"?
The Irishmen wo came to this country all wore the rough cut,
homespun clothes of their homeland but their sons adopted
the practice of wearing tailor made clothes that were cut to
fit. The coats, therefore, were cut in at the waist and gave
the men a "narrow back" appearance.

A woman and man get into a car accident. Both of their cars
are totally demolished, but amazingly neither of them is
hurt.
After they crawl out of the wreckage, the woman says, "Wow,
look at our cars - there's nothing left! Thank God we are
all right. This must be a sign from Him that we should be
friends and not try to pin the blame on each other."
The man replies, "Oh yes, I agree with you completely."
The woman points to a bottle on the ground and says, "And
here's another miracle. Somehow this bottle of Scotch from
my back seat didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this
Scotch and celebrate our good fortune."
Then she hands the bottle to the man. The man nods his head
in agreement, opens it, and chugs about a third of the
bottle to calm his nerves. He then hands it back to the
woman. The woman takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap
back on, and hands it back to the man.
The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"
The woman replies, "No. I think I'll just wait for the
police..."
