How old is the Leaning Tower of Pisa?
The Leaning Tower of Pisa has been leaning since it
was first built - way back in 1155 - thanks to a sandy foundation.
It started leaning when it was BEING built. Rather than begin
again, the builders adjusted the third floor (making the north
walls longer and the south walls shorter so the top would be level).
Construction stopped at this point, due to political unrest, and
didn't start again for 90 years. When more floors were added in
the late thirteenth century, the weight made the building lean
in the OTHER direction. The workers tried to adjust for it once
again, by lengthening the south walls in the belfry. There have
since been many attempts to stabilize the building so it won't
fall over. Of course, it's now such a tourist attraction that officials
don't want to actually make it straight!
What exactly do "A.M." and "P.M." mean?
The initials for morning and evening are based on latin
words - ante meridiem and post meridiem. "Ante," of course
means "before" and "post" means "after." "Meridiem" means
"noon."

Identity Theft -- a personal story

When we think of "identity theft" we often think of credit card
fraud - others stealing our social security number to obtain
credit cards.
All the clever commercials out there make us associate identity
theft with credit card theft.
I'm going to share with you two accounts of how my identity was
stolen and in both cases, credit cards were not involved. In one
year I fell victim twice to identity theft.
I'll also be sharing steps on what to do if you fall victim.
In July of 2001 I moved from Colorado to Texas. In May of 2003 I
began receiving phone calls from lawyers demanding payment for
bad checks I had apparently written in Colorado only a month
earlier.
Several checks had been written all over Colorado at convenient
stores ? checks with my name, an old business name of mine and
an address I have not lived at for more than 8 years.
While I'm on the phone with the lawyer I stated that on two of
those dates I made purchases at Walmart and Lowes here in Texas.
Immediately the lawyer stated I needed to file an Identity Theft
police report and fed ex it to them.
I was also able to have the checks mailed to me, front and back.
While waiting for the checks I filed a police report and checked
my credit report online of all three agencies. The checks weren't
on there - YET ? but they had some odd things in there, including
me living in Sanger, California. I've never lived California.
That should have raised a red flag for me, but it wasn't until a
year later that I discovered "why" they had me living in
California.
Was I panicking? Well I had a warrant out for my arrest, and I
had lawyers contacting me... yes, I was in an extreme panic mode.
My first step was to file a police report. My second step was to
file affidavits with the credit agencies in case these bad checks
appeared. I'll detail all the steps I took below, steps you should
follow if you fall victim.
Once the checks arrived I had to have the police come back to file
a follow up report. There were more than four different phone
numbers on the checks and the driver's license number belonged to
some lady that lived almost three hours south of where the checks
were written. And, none of the signatures matched on the checks.
All the checks were written on a checking account that did not
exist and never existed. This means a much greater crime than
simply writing a check on an account that is short on funds.
But you know - these checks were time stamped. These checks were
written in convenient stores. Doesn't that mean that they had
surveillance cameras? They had a picture of this person at all
these stores.
How was I to get it? In order to file an identity theft report in
Colorado I had to travel there. I would have to hire a lawyer and
investigator in Colorado to obtain any surveillance films. I didn't
have that kind of money.
For months I was a bit nervous wondering how many more checks were
out there and if I was going to get more phone calls from lawyers.
But I had the police report to back me up in case more calls came
in.
Luckily no more phone calls came. But I still wonder if there are
more checks out there and it's been two years. I still wonder what
this person is doing with my information. I still wonder WHO the
person is.
How did this person get my information? The only thing I can think
of is that somehow they got an old checkbook of mine. But these
bad checks were from a bank I have never used.
Who this person is and how they got all my information will most
likely forever remain a mystery.
Now I'm always worried about things. Worried about information I
throw away. I'm worried about putting a check in the mail to pay my
water bill. I've even gotten to the point that anytime I go
shopping I save my receipt so I can have proof of where I am.

Okay, good. ScanDisk is used to look for errors on your hard

Q and A about Possible Pregnancy
Question:
I have recently had a lot of anxiety about possibly
being pregnant, but most likely through talking to people about
it and my knowledge of how you get pregnant I don't think I am.
I did use a condom and I didn't fully have sex, it was
attempted, but it hurt to much so we stopped. And then we tried
without a condom, but we never actually did have sex and he
never came during this. The only time he came was when he had
the condom on. But I have recently experienced frequent
urination and I have read that it's a sign of pregnancy but only
in the first 6-8 weeks, and this was barely 2 weeks ago. So what
else could my frequent urination be ? I am really just hoping
I'm not pregnant.

It is not my place to "preach" you but does your email address
reflect your lifestyle? If so, you could be in for major health
problems. And if you ever want healthy normal children, you
might want to pay attention to using your body with more
respect. You are a woman, and are worthy of treating your "self"
with values, respect, and love. Don't allow anyone to control
you or force you to have sex just because they say you
should.... ESPECIALLY ORAL SEX!!!! Your male friend most likely
won't be carrying the diseases in his body, but you will. You
are allowed to say NO! I trust you have already done the
pregnancy test, right? I have sent you to one of the safest and
best links. Use sources like this and not people who know only
as much as you do. Your pharmacist is a safe and knowledgeable
person. Smart gal for using a condom!! When you have any type of
pain, it that is your body telling you something is VERY
wrong...so what could it be? Wrong condom, insufficient amount
of spermacidal cream.you could have a latex allergy. Talk with
your pharmacist. You could call and then they wouldn't know who
you are, but health nurses could help as well. It's their job to
help. A quick lesson in fertilization...the male sperm has to
connect with the egg (ovum) somewhere in the vagina near the
cervix, which is at the inside end of the vagina. Then the
fertilized egg will find its way back into the uterus and attach
to the inside uterus wall and grow (pregnancy). The important
part here is to keep the contents of the condom (sperm) with the
spermicide (chemical cream) so it can kill the sperm. You can't
just whip off the condom and continue. These sperm are very
anxious to fertilize an egg, and will take ages to die.
Sometimes frequent urination (frequency) can be a sign of either
urinary tract infection or PID Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Get
it checked out. If you leave untreated, it can even lead to
possibly of you not being able to have babies later on. I
somehow doubt you are pregnant, but do the testing, and for
goodness sake, take this as a warning to learn what to do to
protect yourself! No one, I PROMISE YOU, will ever care about
you if you don't care enough about yourself! I don't know how
old you are, but I am hearing about grade school girls doing
oral sex on guys to keep a friendship or do a "favor" out of
fear! There are many nice guys who would NEVER ask you to do
that, but I go back to your email address. If this is really you
and you CHOOSE to be this way, then be prepared for a rough time
ahead. You are a woman and as such I respect you and hope you
will find a real purpose to give your love to.

banished. Some will be beaten when their deeds are
discovered. Most adults do not like the kinds of
things they did. Many homes will be broken, and
the town will likely have a shadow of evil cast
across it, that it will never again prosper. These
men knew not what they were really doing. They
were in pursuit of their own pleasures only."
"Can my Maker do all that?" Again Tlang asked
innocently, not knowing of the great law.
"Not your Maker, Tlang. Your Maker set up the
law for all men. When men, ignorant of the law,
conduct themselves in ways that hurt people, they
become hurt themselves, only much more. Their
ignorance does not negate the law. The law works
in all cases in all times and for all things.
Nothing is exempt. So it behooves man to learn the
law right down to the depths of its meaning and
effectiveness. That way man can choose to live his
life in a way where the law will return only good
things to him. All people of all ages have this
choice, Tlang, even you. That is why I wanted you
to look at your experiences and turn them into
good for you and those you meet. If you turn them
into good, then good things will happen. If you
continued to carry around fear and hatred then you
would have only bad things visited upon you. You
see the choices you have?"
"Yes Miss Susan. I see. I don't want any more
bad to happen to me. I will think good. And I will
try to help those I can.
From the heart of an innocent little girl came
a wise choice. Like all children she instinctively
knew Susan was right. And it does not take a child
long to decide, firmly, and follow up on that
decision. Tlang would now be free to live a fine
and wonderful life.
They cleaned up the fire pit, ensuring the
coals were cold, and began their day's journey.
The cleansing Susan gave Tlang showed up
immediately. She displayed a freedom of spirit not
visible yesterday. She was jumping, investigating,
running and frolicking like any six year old. It
was a joy to see. Yet, in conversation, it was
abundantly clear we had a little adult here. She
had a seriousness about her that was born of the
pain and torture she had endured.
Both Mae and Susan knew this child would be
with them for a long time, and that one day she
would be a master. They were thinking of taking
Tlang back to the orphanage Riata and her team
were creating in Sjong Ju, the last big city they
had come through. Second thoughts, however, told
them they best wait for a while, until Tlang has
settled down completely from her trauma.
So the day progressed, with a little girl
having been given her life back. Mae and Susan
would both work with Tlang as time passed,
encouraging her along the path to mastership.
Tlang had already shown a penchant for mercy,
loving and kindness. It was clear that having
suffered she was unwilling to pass by others who
suffered without offering a helping hand.
As they were walking, both Mae and Susan
received a call. It was from Shing Li. Looking at
one another Mae and Susan decided that Mae would
go and Susan would remain with Tlang.
In that same instant Mae was away. She
vanished and reappeared at Shing Li's without the
passage of a time.
"Hello Shing Li" Mae said from behind her.
Shing Li and Psong jumped as they heard Mae
speak. They had both been leaning around the door
intently watching a man sitting by the side of the
road. He was a reasonable young, Mae thought he
was somewhere in his late twenties, early
thirties.
"Oh Mae! You scared us. You came so soon and
from behind. We had no idea. Thank you for coming.
We haven't seen you for such a long time." Shing
Li and Psong, both, came running over to Mae and
hugged her.
"What is the reason you called? It must be
serious because you don't call. This is the first
time."
