What is the Jersey Devil?
The Jersey Devil is a cryptid - one of the alleged animals
that a cryptozoologist studies. Sightings of the Jersey Devil
have occurred in the Northeastern United States, in
Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. Allegedly, the
creature is anywhere from three to eleven feet tall, has
alligator skin and a head like a horse or dog. The
Jersey Devil also sports horns, batlike wings, cloven
hooves, and a long tail. He's said to screech, glow in
the dark, and to kill livestock and other animals, like dogs.
When was toilet paper invented?
It's believed the ancient Chinese were using toilet paper
centuries ago. But in the modern age, Joseph Gayetty is
credited with inventing toilet tissue. He attempted to market
the first commercially packaged toilet paper in the
United States in 1857. But it sold poorly, believe it or not.

Mountain Climbing Over Molehills

Someone has said that the greatest cause of ulcers is
mountain-climbing over mole-hills! Is that the way you get
your exercise? <G> Many folks allow themselves to be thrown
off course by minor or imaginary threats. Often they interpret
these as life-or-death, or do-or-die situations. They put so
much energy into their worries that there is none available
for progress. Some even believe that worrying demonstrates
caring. This is misguided, too.
The use you make of your energy is your choice. Simply use it
consciously and constructively. Worry is neither.
Bertrand Russell, philosopher and mathematician, tells of a
technique he used on himself to calm down his worries and
excessive negative excitement: "When some misfortune
threatens, consider seriously and deliberately what is the
very worst that could possibly happen. Having looked this
possible misfortune in the face, give yourself sound reasons
for thinking that after all it would be no such very terrible
disaster. Such reasons always exist, since at the worst,
nothing that happens to oneself has any cosmic importance.
When you have looked for some time steadily at the worst
possibility and have said to yourself with real conviction,
'Well, after all, that would not matter so very much,' you
will find that your worry diminishes to a quite extraordinary
extent. It may be necessary to repeat the process a few times,
but in the end, if you have shirked nothing in facing the
worse possible issue, you will find that your worry disappears
altogether and is replaced by a kind of exhilaration." Now
that seems worth having, doesn't it? Exhilaration brings
energy to push through difficulties and level mountains as
well as mole-hills.
This strategy for approaching your concerns can help you to
maintain an aggressive, goal-directed, self-determining
attitude even in the presence of very real and serious threats
and dangers. Denial is not advocated! Positive action is!

COMPUTER TIPS - - -

Bytes, Megabytes,
8 bits make one byte. And a million bytes make... a
megabyte! So, when you check your computer for memory, and
you see you have 64 MB of RAM, you know you have 64 million
bytes of memory space. Or that your hard drive, which is
described in Gigabytes, has lots of room on it.
Unless, of course, you have an older computer with a small
hard drive. Standard sizes today are from 8 gigabytes to
80 gigabytes. There are smaller and larger drives as well.
One gigabyte holds a thousand megabytes. And one megabyte
holds a million bytes. Once you know the prefixes, the
rest is easy. Here's a prefix list for you:
Kilo=one thousand
Mega=one million
Giga=one billion
Those are the 'big three' in the personal computing arena.
When you see that a download is "3 megabytes" in size, you
know it's just a marble in a box car. The box car is your hard
drive, and that 3 megabyte file is the marble.
Sizes keep going up and up and up... and prices keep going
down.
So, we're looking at sizes... and know that most things are
measured in megabytes and gigabytes. The common thing is the
byte. Computers work with electricity, right? And they store stuff
in memory and on your hard drive. If it's in memory (RAM)
then the storage is actually an electrical current being ON
or OFF.
If it's ON, it's given the number '1'. If it's OFF, it's
given the number '0'. This is also called the binary number
system. Computers can only use ones and zeros. They have to do
everything that way, and the electrical currents are either
on or off. The point: binary digits is what we're speaking about.
Binary... Digits... shorten that to... Bit. See the
relationship? A 'bit' is a Binary Digit. Take the 'B' from
Binary and the 'it' from Digit and make a new word.
So, now you know. One bit is a zero or a one. It takes 8 of
those zeros and ones to make a byte. Here's a byte:
01101001
And one byte equals one character you type on your keyboard.

How are many physicians now attacking this problem? With
Bionutrition or Nutritional Medicine. One of the best books is
written by Dr. Ray Strand "What Your Doctor Doesn't Know About
Nutritional Medicine May Be Killing You" (ISBN 0-7852-6486-8).
This resource is easy to read and understand. He even gives
suggestions as to what to use. Give yourself a gift of knowledge
toward your health and wellness. Bionutrition is a relatively
new term. It was created to help us understand the use of
nutritional supplements and nutrition as they are used to
enhance or promote a better quality of life. There is a lot of
research now underway and the results are showing that if you
have better understanding of your nutritional intake, you would
probably make better food choices. The concept of Bionutrition
is to provide "optimal levels" of nutrients to prevent or at
least delay chronic degenerative diseases such as heart attacks,
Alzheimer's Dementia, stroke, cancer, etc.) In providing these
amounts of nutrients, the body is then able to do what it's
meant to do. It has enough fuel to carry on "proactively".
Nutritional Medicine is provided usually by nutritional
supplements in a complete, balanced form. However sometimes,
especially for degenerative diseases, specific herbal
combinations might be added. But again, a qualified medical
practitioner or their designate should manage this for you.
As already mentioned, the essential components for maintaining
good health are vitamins, minerals, calcium, fiber and amino
fatty acids. They are essential for protecting our cells and
providing the nutrients needed for your body to function at its
optimum level. In addition to the essential vitamins and
minerals, other elements may be used to enhance and supplement
individual needs. Essential fatty acids are especially important
to cardiovascular health. Alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid
support cardiovascular health, improved immune function, mental
acuity, and healthy skin. These are frequently mentioned in
literature as being very necessary.

no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The boys stopped on the river bank for a bite
to eat. They were hot and sweaty. Sweat was
dripping out of every pore. The play had been hard
work and they had participated fully. On a hot
day like this it kept them slim and trim.
"Let's go see what the folks are up to" said
Tim.
Over to the village they went. As it happened
they had to pass David and Pam's on the way, and
there were the folks. "Hi you guys, what's up?"
Tim gave the familiar greeting he always used, not
expecting any answer.
"Well you three sure look worn out. The kids
are to much for you, right?" Ben spoke with a
smile on his face.
"Wow, look at that cat" Billy Hendricks had
not seen Midnight before, and to see Tlang calmly
sitting there and petting it surprised him.
"Midnight is an old friend, Billy. Eloise,
Boolanga and I brought her back with us from our
jungle home when we first came out to this
country. That was five years ago now, and Midnight
has been with us in this village all that time.
She protects the village. Any tribes or people who
come here bent on trouble soon see her and they
leave quickly. They are superstitious around here
about cats, especially black ones. Jaguars are
usually spotted. Black ones are more rare. Go over
and pet her. As you can see she will not hurt you,
especially when you broadcast love" said David.
Billy moved over to Midnight, calmly and
without rush. Soon he was by Midnight and petting
her. She raised her head only to determine if she
was in good hands and having satisfied herself on
that point, put her head down.
"I'm surprised she didn't take your hand off
Billy. David here was just fooling you. That cat
is a dangerous animal." Tom was teasing. Billy
knew that but was wary nonetheless.
"You boys sit down. You are sweating like
there is no tomorrow. Sit and take it easy for a
while.
"Thank you Mom." Tim took the drink she was
offering him. "Those kids play hard in this heat.
They near wore us plum out."
"Boy, I'll say. They love to get an advantage
over us and they try for it all the time. They
have all sorts of tricks. Tlang would you like to
play?"
"I will watch for a while. I don't know the
game" was her response to Tim.
"Good. Let me cool off a little here and when
I'm ready we'll go sit on the bank and watch for a
while. I'll explain it to you and if you would
like to play you will be more than welcome."
Tim, Tom and Billy sat around for a while,
stretched, lay back on the grass, and simply did
nothing while their bodies recuperated from the
heavy workout.
"Sam this has to be one of the most wonderful
places in earth. Helen and I love to come down
here. And the villagers are all fantastic" said
Ben Striker with a degree of enthusiasm one rarely
sees in a policeman.
"It seems that living by higher law has
changed your attitude somewhat. You never used to
be so youthful or enthusiastic. I like the change"
Sam answered.
"Well it sure has changed our lives around. We
are no longer under stress, we have no needs, and
we really want to help out in the trouble spots of
the world. Yeah! I guess you could say we've
changed. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
Even Helen wouldn't want to change back."
"I know. I am real happy to see Helen use
higher law. From now on both of you will know only
happiness, unless of course, you want sadness" Sam
wanted to remind them of the privilege of learning
higher law.
"What time do you want to go back tonight?"
Ben was speaking with Helen, his wife.
"I don't know sweetie. Maybe we'll stay for
another night. We don't have anything to go home
for and I like it here."
"That's a good girl. Let's stay the night. Is
that okay with you folks?"
"Certainly" offered Mazunta.
"Mr. Striker you can stay as long as you want.
The village likes to have you come to visit."
"Thank you Eloise. We just might do that."
"Alewka, you've been awfully quiet this
afternoon. What are you thinking about?" Ben made
the observation.
"I'm just kind of melancholy, Ben. I was
looking back to when Eloise was just a little
girl. She was brave even then, and not foolish nor
hasty. The were unusual qualities for a young
woman. Then when she took that journey with David,
we had all sorts of forbidding thoughts. But we
knew our little girl was safe. Then, one day,
around Christmas she reappeared, from out of
nowhere. That was a complete surprise. And now
look at all of us sitting here. Over 90% of us
live by higher law and have no earthly troubles.
That's amazing in and of itself." Alewka was
reminiscing in a way that made her thankful.

Beside doing lots more for my political friend I completed the
formatting work I began yesterday. Then there were a few customer
issues and a lot of writing.
I never told you guys, but I enjoy writing thePEBBLE for you. It
pleases me no end you find it worthy of your time and attention.
I sincerely hope it offers you thoughts, ideas and information that
is helpful.
While I have not made a final decision, I find thePEBBLE to be
a great deal of work when I have other things on the go as well.
