the spirit and prevented it from taking revenge on its killer.

Do You Have Foot In The Mouth Disease?

As Morris and his wife Sherry were planning a vacation. They
ended up in an argument, "It's 'Hawaii', I'm telling you!"
Sherry said.
"I never KNEW someone so stubborn! 'Havaii' is how it's pro-
nounced!" he replied.
And so it went all the way to the vacation...
As they got off the airplane, they passed a man. Morris
abruptly stopped the wife and turned to the man to ask, "Now
that we're on the island, you can settle an argument between
my wife and me. Is this 'Hawaii' or 'Havaii?'"
"This is Havaii," the man replied.
"Ha!" the husband gloated to his wife. "See, didn't I tell
you never to argue with me?" As they began to walk away,
Morris turned back and gave the man a hearty "Thank you!"
"You're Velcome!" he called back.
Does the condition sound familiar? I've been there so
many times I finally learned to see it coming and now
avoid it.
Yet I am still surprised when I see it developing elsewhere.
It seems there is a contest between man and wife and for
some unknown reason it appears important to each of
them that they win. How can that be? Are they not in love?
Are they not together in all things? What is happening here?
I know that when my wife and I used to participate in this
silly game it was as if we were opponents. Further, it was
a signal of a deeper rift, one where each of us was not
paying enough loving attention to each other. I see that
to be true wherever I see this game being played.
I rarely see two of the same sex competing this way,
although it happens. It would show up as petty little
rivalries between close friends, but usually their
interests are different. It seems to happen more
often between men and women who are in a close
relationship. It is called the game of "One Upmanship"
and if allowed to continue usually costs each
participant a great deal of happiness, joy
and contentment.
I call it the "Foot In The Mouth Disease". It is emblematic
of one who seeks to be first. It shows an ego that is vying
for attention rather than a loving soul who wishes nothing
but the best for their partner.
Think on these things. They can be subtle signals of
deeper difficulties in a relationship.
It is easy to stop, if you can get control of that little gremlin
inside that spurs you on to what you hope will be victory.
It is an ego trip based on some poorly concocted notion
you are somehow inferior to your partner. The game
never develops unless each partner has the same notion.
So get into an open and frank discussion about it with
your partner, one day when you are far away from having
one of those little battles. If both of you recognize the issue
you can set up little signals that will let each of you know what
you are doing when the next one comes along. That way
you can reduce the battles and maybe even eliminate them.

Setting the clock
Let's start with Windows XP. It includes a utility that sets the
time. To access the utility, click Start go to Control Panel. Double click
Date and Time. In the Date and Time Properties window, select the
Internet Time tab. Check "Automatically synchronize with an Internet
time server." If you have a dial-up connection, automatic
synchronization might not always work. Solve that by using the
Update Now button
If you continue to have time problems, your computer battery may be
bad. The clock runs off the battery. This problem is especially likely
in the Windows 98 machine, which is probably several years old.
The battery is located on the motherboard. Some snap in and out, and
are easy to replace.

A Different Way Of Thinking

Tension; Jitters; Apprehension.

“Stress can come from any situation or thought that
makes you feel frustrated, angry, or anxious. What is
stressful to one person is not necessarily stressful to
another. Anxiety is a feeling of apprehension or fear.
The source of this uneasiness is not always known or
recognized, which can add to the distress you feel.”
In case you have never heard of Meniere’s disease
before, I want to give you a tiny bit of insight
through this article. At the beginning, I mentioned
Bill’s visit to his doctor. He had already had his
Meniere’s symptoms for some time. Put yourself into his
shoes…. What if… you started to feel dizzy
occasionally, and maybe had some unpleasant buzzing in
your ear. And sometimes your ear would feel full as
though it had water in it. It was annoying and you
couldn’t get rid of it. And these feelings would come
once in a while and then disappear for a long time.
Suddenly one day, you had to grasp the edge of your
desk to steady yourself and someone had to drive you
home or to Emergency. Normal? I don’t think so. Scary?
Yes, Very. Your doctor or the hospital staff asked you
questions and you really had no answers. Eventually you
would go home and life continued. But every once in a
while you still have this dizziness and pressure and
your hearing comes and goes. And this goes on for
months or days…or even years. Could this be worrisome?
Could it be stressful? Could this stress lead to
increasing your blood pressure over time?
Let’s look at these symptoms a little more closely.
Dizziness. Vertigo. If you are suddenly faced with mild
or severe vertigo, chances are you would find it
difficult to handle your job or your responsibilities.
Sometimes this spinning is so strong it throws you to
the ground! Sometimes you feel so dizzy and bump into
things that people think you are drunk or on drugs.
Then you have hearing fluctuation which means one
minute you can hear well and the next you can’t hear
anything or a just a little bit. Then there is the
tinnitus. This pertains to noise of any sort: from
strong sounds to buzzing. Part of a day. Sometimes.
Occasionally. Or constantly in different tones. One
ear or both ears.
Do you think this could be stressful for you? Could it
maybe raise your blood pressure? Would you like to be
told you have to live with this for the rest of your
life? Would you maybe get a bit concerned about your
future? Could you ask yourself “why”? Why would
something come and go, with no apparent reason. Or
could there be a reason? And what could possibly have
any connection to things you were doing one moment or
day…and not again for a while…or very frequently and
then not again for a year? Or several years? Sometimes
for 15 years! Would it be possible that something made
you dizzy? And why would someone get dizzy?

"Stay where you are." She demanded he stop.
"You insolent woman. I'll take the lot of you
back with me. You can't speak to me that way. This
girl belongs back there and she's coming."
Suddenly he stopped abruptly and fell back on
his back onto the road. It was like he had run
into a brick wall. He had hurt his nose and his
hand in the process. He winced in pain, got up and
began to run at the ladies.
Mae stood her ground and watched. Again, only
harder this time, the man smashed into the
invisible shield Mae had placed in front of them.
He ran into that shield with such force he broke
his nose, sprained his knee and fell backwards
again onto the road, but upon some rocks that felt
like they wanted to spear his body.
He writhed in pain. His bleeding nose had
spread blood all over him and he was now even more
of a mess.
Undaunted he once more tried.
Mae spoke so loud it sounded like thunder,
"Halt!"
The man stopped dead in his tracks as if he
were a statue that couldn't move.
Mae walked over to him, and around him. He was
motionless, except for breathing. She silently
broadcast these thoughts unto him, "You are a vile
and filthy individual who is so selfish that you
gain your sexual pleasures from forcing children.
You have not the confidence to deal with real
women in a caring relationship. From this day
forward you will have a burning pain in your sex
organs every time you even think of sexual things.
It would be better for you if you never think of
sex for each time, in every condition where you
think of sexual things, you will immediately have
a terrible burning sensation that will only go
away when you get your mind off the subject.
Because of you destroying the lives of young
children this shall last your lifetime. Only when
you are kind, loving and protective toward any
female, shall you have relief from this problem.
Any attempt to harm or control a female will
result in this pain."
Mae then came back to Tlang and Susan. "Let's
go. He'll come to his senses in about an hour. Are
you okay Tlang?"
"Yes, Miss Mae. That is one of the men who
used to come into the restaurant. He is dirty, He
never washes. And he is mean. I don't like him."
"We know, Tlang. I want you to learn you no
longer have anything to fear from the men in the
restaurant. You will never see them again, except
occasionally. In a few years you will grow to
where they will never recognize you. Moreover, if
you concentrate really hard you can learn to live
by higher law, like Miss Susan and I. Then you
will never have to worry about any harm again, you
will be able to protect yourself as I did when
that man ran at me. But you must learn to love
such people Tlang. You must learn that to wish
them harm will only bring harm unto you. It is for
them to create their own condition. If they
respond with evil to your love, that love will
only energize the evil returned unto them. I told
that man he would have pain anytime he had sexual
thoughts about a woman, any woman, and that the
only way he would be able to avoid that would be
to have kind, loving, protective thoughts toward a
woman. He will no longer be a threat to any woman.
But it will be of his own doing. He will have pain
if he thinks selfishly toward any female. He will
not if he thinks lovingly and caringly about them.
So too with all people. Love is your way to
complete freedom from bondage and from harm."
"You mean I must learn to love those in the
restaurant?"
"Yes and no. Yes in the sense that you now
know they are selfish men who really know not what
they were doing. No in the sense you no longer
need to have any physical relationship with any of
them. Learning to love them because you know of
their ignorance, because you are on the path to
living by higher law, and because you are
developing the powers your Maker has given to
each, is the way you must now conduct your life,
Tlang. You must learn to offer love, and broadcast
love, to all living creatures you meet, all within
your Maker's world. That means everything, even
the inanimate."
"But why would I want to love a rock?"
"There are two reasons, Tlang. The first is
you want to create a condition within yourself
where you think nothing but loving thoughts toward
all. There should be no room in your heart or mind
for anything else for anything else will come back
to haunt you. The second reason is that even the
rock is a living thing in your Maker's world. All
you see around you is of your Maker. All is to be
treated with respect and with love. You are part
of this universe as is everything in it. Each has
a function to perform. Let it be so." Mae was
making headway with Tlang. The six year old was
absorbing the ideas like a sponge.

Don was sent to prison. He got along well with

the warden liked him. Deciding that Don deserved to
learn a trade, the warden arranged for him to become
a carpenter. After several years, Don was earning

always reporting back to the prison by the end of the
day on Sundays. One day, the warden called Don into
