--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
When did neatly manicured lawns become fashionable?
Nowadays, if you don't mow your lawn, your neighbors
will most likely be upset and consider you a slob. But it
wasn't always that way. A neatly trimmed lawn is pretty
much a modern invention and one that early Americans
considered pretentious. Early American front lawns were
full of tall grass, clover, dandelions, weeds, and nettles.
Early American authors, such as Walt Whitman and
Nathaniel Hawthorne, lauded the beauty of these "natural"
look lawns and criticized the "new" vogue in England for
neatly clipped lawns as artificial.
Did "lawns" exist in the ancient world?
Not as we know them. From the classical Greeks on up
to the Middle Ages, grass was only a minor part of the
landscape and the focus was on flowers, especially
wildflowers. The goal then was to create a natural, easily
managed, "meadow" look. I'll bet there are a lot of modern
suburbanites who would love to throw away their lawn
mowers and go back to that natural look!

Defining the Marketing Niche
by Valerian Dinca
Ever wonder why some business seem to be more successful
than others are. Why do some business flourish even in tough
economical times?
The answer is quite simple.
Successful business owners define and target specific niches
to sell. This is easily the best way for the online small business
owners to compete ... and profit even in tough economical times
How they define the niches ? The answer is quite simple as
well. Successful owners succeed in making the close relation
between their business and customers needs. They pay a
special attention to identify motivate and rewarding those sales
channel that works on customer relationship. More than that,
these owners recognize that a multiple channels-to-market
sales strategy provides the best coverage and get market
leadership.
How they define the niches then?
Let's recap:
1. Identify customers needs, that means to see what specifically
needs do the current customers have in common
2. Motivate customers explaining that the product covers the
needs Develop your own product/service, or find existing
ones, that satisfy the needs you've identified from your research.
3. Reward customers offering a good price, a permanent support
and assistance. Create your unique selling proposition, website
content, and advertising campaigns. Stay close to your
customers answering questions and providing available
support.
To succeed in all above, you need a plan. My suggestion is
to create a micro-plan for the very beginning, because that way
is easy to see how much this plan is just plain copying the leader
or the extending present product ideas. Try to be innovative, this
is the way to big success.

Windows 98.
To load Tasks, double-click Taskman,
a program icon in your Windows directory. (Or type Taskman at the
Start menu's Run command line.) Tasks leaps to the screen.
Tasks doesn't come with a Help file, so you need to fiddle with
the menus to see what's listed. But Tasks is a fairly powerful
program: It lists all the currently running programs and windows
so you can choose among them; and it comes with a command
line, like the Start menu's Run area. Plus, It even lets you shut
down Windows 98.

Amalgam or Mercury: A Sense Of Confusion
PART 3 of 9
Mercury was thought to be harmless. It is a very
inexpensive material, it lasts a long time, and is very
easy to form into the shape of your tooth for easy
chewing. Controversy about its use has been brewing
from the start. Because of its low cost, ease of use,
and the fact that many dentists thought it was safe, it
has been in constant use ever since. I saw several
references to the World Health Organization (WHO) as
saying no amount of mercury should be in your body. You
might agree when you read the signs and symptoms
shortly. I couldnt find a direct link to this idea,
but it makes complete sense to me. There are now
additional choices. We know so much now about the
harmful effects of mercury. Some dentists tell us they
dont need to use it at all. Someone actually told me
that their dentist said it would be malpractice to use
it! However that is not my experience nor that of many
other readers.
I thought I would share a few of these experiences with
you. All have happened in the last few months. A friend
of ours bit down on a piece of soft fruit and
immediately knew it wasnt as soft as she had
anticipated. She was soon trying to locate pieces of
broken tooth and metal. In her dentists office, her
file has a big yellow sticker saying she doesnt want
any mercury or amalgam in her mouth. She restated this
to the technician. But out of the corner of her eye,
she saw the dentist start to pick up the scoop filled
with what looked like silver material. So she very
politely told the dentist that she specifically had
made everyone aware that she didnt want any mercury in
her mouth again. He tried to tell her that it was
perfectly safe and he had never had anyone complain.
She explained that it was listed as a neurotoxin and
therefore she didnt wish to have it anywhere near her
body. Recently, I spoke with a lady whose dentist had
actually put in the mercury filling despite her asking
him not to. She is having that tooth out shortly. She
has many symptoms that would make her suspect the
mercury. And these symptoms are not fun to live with!
They are very debilitating and frustrating. I hear back
from people who asked their dentists about mercury and
were told that it is much less costly, is the best,
and wears the longest. And not to listen to
naysayers.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------
Life had changed for Ben and Helen Striker the
day they had attended the wedding for Romano and
Oomano. They were suddenly in a position where
they had complete control over all their affairs
in ways they had not dreamt.
They no longer needed their friends in
Pinehill for support. They no longer worried about
money. They no longer had to concern themselves
over the acquisition of wealth.
All these things took time to absorb. No
longer did they have to think about all the things
that concerned them earlier. It was as if their
entire sense of purpose had been removed. For a
short while they knew not where to go or what to
do. They were in a never never land just as one is
when they win a lottery. All direction, all
purpose, all meaning in their lives had changed.
They were left in a short term, unique kind of
vacuum. The adjustment, fortunately, came about
gradually in ways that brought fulfillment, and it
brought on a new appreciation of life beyond what
they had earlier known. They did not feel lonely,
quite the contrary. Neither did they feel superior
to their friends. Yet, in a way they never
realized before, they had "graduated", so to
speak, into a realm of grace, beauty, calm and
peace that eludes men when they seek material
goods. Even though Ben had earned a pension, he
now used none of it, neither needed it.
With the occasional journey where they were
called to help in some disaster they began to find
themselves useful in many ways. They now had much
more time to devote to being interested in those
around them, and they loved it. They counted
themselves thankful for this wonderful position.
Neither considered in their lives that they would
end up like this. Yet their soul knew and caused
events in their lives to culminate in living by
higher law.
Ben was fine with that, but Helen had a bit
steeper learning curve. She would accompany Ben on
any mission on which he was called.
She learned much. She helped many.on these
journeys and soundly enjoyed them. Indeed, Helen
would get into this helping thing so deeply it was
hard to extract her. She loved people and would do
anything to spend time with them. When she went
with Ben to help out she would get so involved
that she too often became emotionally attached
rather than remember who she was.
Ben only smiled at her. He was thrilled right
down to his toes that she had taken to living by
higher law. They were truly equal partners and the
respect they held for each other was wholly and
fully apparent.
Then, across town, were the Whites. Jim had
left his job at the police station now he lived by
higher law. Hilda, his wife, was struggling with
this new life. She had always been taught that the
lot of man was to struggle, that poverty, or
certainly something less than full and abundant
prosperity was the real order of the day. She was
used to struggle and breaking that habit in the
midst of prosperity was a hard thing to do.
When Hilda looked out onto other ladies she
was able to see and remember what struggle was.
Now, they only needed to manifest what they
wanted. That was light years away from Hilda's
training during her upbringing. And it was a very
long way from the kind of life she was leading as
a pastors wife. In some ways she was glad Jim had
stood up for his beliefs. She was scared at first,
but now she was only confused.
One thing, however, about Hilda White was that
when she set her mind on an objective she would
reach it regardless. She was not used to accepting
"no". Besides, she could see clearly, the way of
life and the objective. She accepted that
completely.
Both Jim and Hilda had been out on trips to
aid in situations where aid was rare. Both enjoyed
it and were actually making friends among those
enlightened. So, here too, life was going through
changes, particularly emotional and psychological
changes.
They appeared to accept their new roles. They
had been through a steep learning curve and were
now settling in to the business of living by
higher law.Their comfort level was increased every
time they were able to help someone.
Soon they were having get togethers with the
Strikers. Ben was no longer an overriding threat
as he always was in the days when they all lived
by man's law. Now they were equals in every
respect and neither Jim nor Hilda felt otherwise.
They would often go to the Strikers or the Henrys
for visits.

TODAY'S REPORT:
You'll be glad to know that finally the political work is done for
a while. We were not the successful nominee. We came second
by enough votes that I could have tipped the results with only
the people that could fit into my half ton supercab. That's how
close it was. One thing became abundantly clear however. We
were much more efficient and got much more mileage out of
our work and investment of time and money, than did any of
the other candidates. In that we were successful.
Thanks for your time and patience with me over this little gambit.
I don't think we're done but that will depend on my man.

Rogers, who works alone from his home office, has received 100% of the
