or a child born with teeth. A vampire can result if a cat or

that is too shallow.

Abandoned Carts Still Litter the Net
August 19, 2004
Consumers are carting items at a slightly higher rate
than last year — 9.4% in Q2 2004 compared to 8.3%
in Q2 2003 — but cart abandonment rates are
higher too.
Consumers abandon over one-half of the shopping
carts they fill up while shopping online, reports
DoubleClick. In the second quarter of 2004, 57.0% of
carts were abandoned, compared to 45.9% one year
ago, an increase of 24%. It should be noted, however,
that the cart abandonment rate was higher in Q1 2004,
reaching 60.3%.
Another negative trend in online shopping carts is a
decline in the number of sales resulting from a
previous carting. Just above one-quarter of sales in
DoubleClick's poll resulted from items previously
carted by shoppers, a slight increase from the first
quarter of 2004, but a 26% decline from Q2 2003.
DoubleClick determines that cart abandonment
results in $4.51 of lost revenue for every $1.00 of
revenue made from sales. Obviously, reducing
abandonment is an important goal of online retailers,
and luckily for them, doing so is within their control.
Various studies conducted on the subject have found
that the main reasons for shopping cart abandonment
are tied to Web site design issues rather than issues
tied to technological or other issues. According to a
December 2003 survey by NetIQ, the top three factors
causing consumers to abandon their carts include
surprise costs (such as shipping and handling),
requests for too much information from the user and
a lack of information about the product.
Furthermore, a study by CyberSource Corp., released
in May 2004, found that shopping cart abandonment
rates declined when more payment methods were
offered to customers. By tweaking their sites to make
the shopping experience smoother, clearer and
comprehensive, and then testing the results, Internet
retailers should see shopping cart abandonment
rates decline.

Amalgam or Mercury: A Sense Of Confusion

Mercury is not only found in dental fillings but it is
also a by-product of “fossil fuels”. It is also found
in agricultural fungicides, plus a few cosmetics and
hair bleaches. (More about that at the end.) Industry
uses mercury compounds. Their waste products are
considered hazardous.
The message seems to be pretty loud and clear. This
potentially harmful product appears in several
industries. Its exposure can be very problematic. But
what is adding to the confusion is the lack of specific
signs and symptoms in much of the documentation. They
seem a bit vague and could relate to most of the body’s
systems. So they could easily be misinterpreted for
other conditions. I only pulled out the ones that I
hear about daily for our Meniere’s visitors. Please use
the links to get a lot more insight.
“Mercury has been associated with a number of emotional
and psychological problems, such as memory loss, mood
swings, anxiety, and depression, to name a few. The
earliest, and most common, symptoms resulting from
chronic mercury poisoning are neurological……….. Mercury
can also cause a great deal of cellular and tissue
damage by generating an excessive amount of harmful
free radicals, known to be the major cause of all
degenerative diseases….

I tried to discover some of this technology. I suspect
it might be the same as the PET scanners or a version
of this magnificent tool, which can see all sorts of
activity in the brain and its chemicals, but I can’t
find direct links to anything right now. All the sites
I checked out, either felt “mercury was safe and what
was the all the fuss about” or it was totally unsafe.
It is classified as a neurotoxin. (A neurotoxin is a
poison that acts directly in the tissues of the central
nervous system and affects the motor skills. A “neuron”
is a basic “brain” cell and a “toxin” is a poison.).

Over at the Henry household Sam, Alewka, Tim
and Tom, along with Billy Hendricks were seated at
the kitchen table talking. It was mid morning and
the boys had just gotten out of bed having slept
in. (Just like a lot of teens I know).
Not too much had been happening since they had
returned to Pinehill from Romano's and Oomano's
wedding. Nearly all of them had been called to
aid some situation someplace, but for the most
part they had been left at home, enjoying the
peace and quiet that accompanies living by higher
law.
Youth and teens can always adjust to higher
law faster and better than adults. They are more
flexible of mind and habit. So for Tom, Tim and
Billy, they were enjoying higher law for it meant
they could go and do what they wanted. They had
done some traveling, but mostly just stayed at
home.
Pinehill was not a large place, about 3000.
They boys would frequent the restaurant they used
to go to when they were in school. There they
would run into some of their friends. They would
talk and do the things teens do, but the boys
would always be separated out. They never
participated any longer in the things that
interested the teens with whom they had attended
school.
That condition was fine with the boys. They
knew what was happening. They did not feel
rejected. They were that fulfilled in their own
right that it was more an understanding of what
was happening that made them continue to attend
the restaurant.
Once in a while there would be one or maybe
two students that would come over and speak with
them. Today was one of those days.
Sharon Smithson had come to the table to be
with them. It was clear she had an attraction to
Tim. That was okay, for Tim had been eyeing her
for a while, too.
Sharon sat down and it happened that Tim had
been sitting in a booth, alone on one side, with
Tom and Billy sitting on the other. Sharon slid in beside
Tim. The electricity between them was noticeable.
Tom and Billy stayed a while and talked small talk.
They remained long enough to be sociable, then
excused themselves, saying they wanted to go
downtown to get something. They agreed to meet
Tim back at home.
That left Tim and Sharon, who moved over to
the other side of the booth. That way they could
face one another.
Tim found himself more attracted to Sharon
than he thought. He couldn't define it but it was
sure coursing through his bloodstream. He did his
best to maintain a calm, poised exterior, but his
heart was beating faster than normal. Here they
were, alone, together. There weren't even many
kids in the restaurant.
The pair of them chatted quietly about a lot
of things folks that age talk about. Sharon didn't
yet know what she wanted to do with her life,
after school.
Tim ordered a milk shake and two straws. Sharon
had said she didn't want anything. "You can share
some of mine" he said.
"The kids all think you're weird, doing what
you do. They say you'll never amount to anything,
that you're lazy, don't have a job and you'll
never get anywhere. I find that hard to believe,
but that's what they say."
"I know, Sharon. None of them understand what
I try to say to them. They go home and tell their
parents and the first thing they get is a lecture
about finishing school and college. 'Do those
things first, then you can become a dreamer like
that Henry kid.' It is unfortunate because if they
listened and did what I suggest they would be able
to do the things I do. All men can do this. But
they prefer, instead, to do what their parents
say, much to their detriment."
"Tim, are you saying that your way is the only
way?"
"No, Sharon. I'm saying the way your Maker,
and mine, wants us to live is far simpler than the
way man has chosen. It is much easier, and
available to all men, women and children. Men can
choose to live in a thousand different ways, none
of which is simpler, more peaceful or more
powerful than the way your Maker wants."
"If anyone can do it why don't they?"
"Mostly because they don't trust, and then,
also, they think they will be seen as foolish,
weird, never amount to anything."
"But what do you do? What will you do with
your life? To what end do you live?"
