TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

What exactly is a zombie?

How did the custom of "trick or treating" originate?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What does a vampire look like?

Forget the suave and handsome (and pale) Dracula. Most
vampires are described in folklore as flushed and ruddy,
with swollen bodies (not thin!) and bloated faces (yes,
sounds like a corpse, alright). Often, they can be identified
because they're sitting up in the grave.

What are some ways to protect yourself from vampires?

Don't despair! According to folklore, there are a number of
ways to protect yourself from vampires, including the
ever-popular wearing of garlic or a religious symbol. You
can slow a vampire down by giving him something to do,
like pick up poppy seeds or unravel a net. (They're quite
compulsive.) Cross water and he can't follow. If you can
find the body, give it a bottle of whiskey or food so it doesn't
have to travel. If that doesn't work, either shoot the corpse
(may require a silver bullet) or drive a stake through the
heart. And remember, the vampire won't enter your dwelling
unless invited. Just say no.

TITLE ARTICLE - - -
-----------------

Persistance Pays!
by Ken Darby

A policeman pulls over a driver for swerving in and out of
lanes on the highway. He tells the guy to blow a breath
into a breathalyzer.

''I can't do that, officer.''

''Why not?''

''Because I'm an asthmatic. I could get an asthma attack
if I blow into that tube.''

''Okay, we'll just get a urine sample down at the station.''

''Can't do that either, officer.''

''Why not?''

''Because I'm a diabetic. I could get low blood sugar if I
pee in a cup.''

''Alright, we could get a blood sample.''

''Can't do that either, officer.''

''Why not?''

''Because I'm a hemophiliac. If I give blood I could die.''

''Fine then, just walk this white line.''

''Can't do that either, officer.''

''Why not?''

''Because I'm drunk.''

I love this joke. The policeman was at least persistent in doing
his job.

Sooner or later we all get successful results when we are
persistent at what we do.

Success is rarely an overnight thing. It just does not happen
that someone can become successful just because they
wish it. Success comes from the steady, persistent application
of effort, one step at a time, toward a goal one has envisioned.
It does not jump out of a hat like the magicians rabbit. If it did
we would not appreciate what it means. Success must be
earned. It must be justified within our own psyches. If it is not
then it will disappear as rapidly as it arrived.

You will notice that in the joke above the blowing of the
breathalyzer was not the success the policeman was looking
for, neither was the urine test, or the blood test. All were merely
steps he had to follow to get to the success he wanted. His
persistence alone brought on the success he wanted. He had
to go through all the other steps to get there.

I see many, on the net and off, who think success should come
just because they are there. Think again. We all look to those
we see as successful and are of the mind that because we do
what they do we should be as successful as they are. In time
that might be true, but it is rarely true the day you do the looking.
The reason is you have not put in all the preliminary effort. You
must pick a goal, a plan and work everyday toward that
objective. Failing to do that will only give you less results
than you want.

Setting your plan and sticking with it insistently, persistently
and consistently is the only way to reach the success you seek.

Remember too. Money might be a part of the success you
seek, but any concentration on that alone will only render you
as one having money. If you are not a well rounded personality
around which people like to gather, and whose fairness,
judgment and caring for others is held in high regard by
others then you will be far from successful even if you do
have money.

So, consider carefully... Persistance Pays!

Amalgam or Mercury: A Sense Of Confusion
PART 5 of 9

This was one of the very few sites that gave me the
most signs and symptoms. If you suspect mercury could
be a part of your life: internally or externally, I
urge you to do some in-depth research on your own. I am
only listing a few, but they are the ones that are easy
to find “in yourself”. Other results or “complaints”
may require sophisticated testing. Here are the signs I
hear often when trying to help Meniere’s
sufferers…Irritability, Nervousness, Memory Loss, Lack
of Attention, Depression, Low Self Confidence, Anxiety,
Drowsiness, Insomnia, Metallic Taste, Abdominal Cramps,
Colitis, Crohn's disease, Gastrointestinal Problems,
Diarrhea, Changes in Blood Pressure, Headaches,
Dizziness, Ringing or Noises in Ears, Fine Tremors
(Hands, Feet, Eye Lids, Tongue), Allergies, Asthma,
Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Swollen Lymph Nodes in Neck, Cold
Clammy Hands & Feet, Excessive Perspiration, Muscle
Weakness, Fatigue, Hypoxia, Edema, Loss of Appetite.

http://www.curezone.org/dental/mercury_symptoms.asp

How do you know you might have mercury vapors in your
body? How do you know what to do about them? This is
where the confusion hits home! Let’s think this through
a little… If you don’t have any of the above symptoms,
you should be fine. If you don’t even have mercury, you
will be really fine! But also recognize that mercury
comes with at least two additional names:”silver alloy”
and “amalgam”. So if someone tells you this is not
“mercury” but a “silver alloy”, you will know it’s the
same.

Let’s think about what you might do if you do have some
of these symptoms. Here is a link to a site that has
information on what stimulates the vapor and it then
gives ideas to eliminate the stimulations until you can
get the mercury out, if that is what you plan to do. At
least this way, you have some choices and immediate
actions to take. That is really helpful and hopeful and
practical.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------

"You are asking some pretty deep questions,
Sharon. Are you sure you want the answers?"

"Y...y...yes. At least I think I want the
answers. I don't know. Its all so confusing. I
don't want to leave my friends, but I don't know
they are right. They talk about you and laugh at
you, point you out and whisper behind their hands
or books. That isn't right. I don't like that.
That is why I came over to see you. I want to know
first hand what kind of a man you are, and I can't
get that from them."

"Well, Sharon, do you like what you see?"

"Oh stop teasing me Tim. That isn't what I
meant. I meant I wanted to talk with you to see
just how crazy you are."

Their milk shake came. Tim opened up the two
straws and put them into the shake. He took one
and began to suck. He was looking her in the eyes
as he leaned over his beverage.

Her eyes met his and held. He knew she was
feeling the attraction too. He motioned to the
other straw.

Slowly Sharon leaned forward and took the
other straw into her mouth and began to drink.
Their faces were so close that all they could do
was look into each others eyes. They held that
position for nearly a full minute.

Tim didn't want to move for fear of breaking
the trance. Sharon didn't want to move because she
was becoming intensely drawn to Tim. Her heart was
beating hard and fast.

"Would you like to go somewhere else?"

"Where?" She had no idea what he meant but
even though other boys would talk this way and she
knew well what they meant, she did not feel Tim
was talking the same way. In any event the blood
was coursing through her veins so hot and fast she
knew she would do anything he asked.

"Oh, I don't know. Why don't we just walk a
little. Do you have to be at home, at school or
anywhere else in the next little while?"

"No, I'm free" she answered.

Tim's mind was swimming. He was having
thoughts he considered ungentlemanly. He couldn't
help it. His heart was doing flip flops in his
chest. He had never felt like this before. Even at
his age he didn't know what was happening.

The pair of them finished the milk shake. Tim
paid the bill and they went outside. They began
walking. They headed in no particular direction,
but it favored being away from busy areas. They
walked down residential streets where there was
not much noise, not many people and not too many
prying eyes. Neither of them cared what direction
they were going. They could only see one another.

After about a block Tim ventured so far as to
take Sharon's hand. She held his and squeezed it.
That sent a thrill into him that sent him reeling.
He knew not what to say or do. He knew he wanted
to do things to this young woman that a man often
thinks about, but with someone he loves he is too
afraid she would object, or is too fragile. He
didn't want to do anything that would scare her
away. She was too perfect, too nice to do the
things he was thinking about.

Sharon likewise was having similar thoughts,
only about him, Tim. She would literally have
melted right into his arms if he had given her a
hug. She didn't know where to go or what to do.
This was new ground for her too.

So the pair of them walked for blocks and
blocks. Many of those blocks they never spoke a
word. They were in a trance that was supported
here and there by a squeeze of the hands. Every
time it happened each would again be sent into
orbit.

Of the two, Sharon appeared to be the most
calm and in control. She would speak and to Tim it
sure sounded as if she were speaking normal and
not experiencing what he was. "Where are we
going?"

"I...I don't know. Just walking I guess" he
responded.

And the conversation went on that way for
blocks. All they spoke were meaningless words to
which no one paid attention. They must have been
uttered only to overcome some awkward spot. All
was small talk.

Occasionally they would be interrupted by
someone in one of the yards they were passing. And
there were those on the same sidewalk. Those few
that were walking toward them seemed only to
smile. Tim wondered if they had any idea what was
going on. He sure didn't.

that it is such a nice change from being young.

At breakfast one day, I eagerly waited for my husband to comment on my
first attempt at homemade cinnamon rolls.

After several minutes with no reaction, I asked, "If I baked these
commercially, how much do you think I could get for one of them?"

Without looking up from his paper my husband replied, "About 10 years."
