US Motel Chain Gets Wi-Fi ( From eMarketer Daily)
T-Mobile will install wireless Internet access throughout all
Red Roof Inns in the US over the coming year, reports the
Associated Press. Guests who do not subscribe to
T-Mobile's Wi-Fi service, or to one of its partners' services,
will be charged $6.00 for the first hour of usage or $9.99
per day. The move is part of a $200 million effort to revamp
the motel chain, owned by Accor North America, which
targets budget business travelers. Wi-Fi will first be installed
in Red Roof Inns in Detroit, Cleveland and Columbus, OH,
Washington, Philadelphia and parts of New Jersey.

IM (Instant Messaging) For the Masses (eMarketer Daily)
August 25, 2004
America Online (AOL)'s second annual survey of instant
messaging (IM) usage determines it is indeed widespread
and that IM is used for a variety of reasons, and from a
variety of locales.
AOL, in conjunction with Opinion Research Corporation,
surveyed over 4,500 Internet users in the US ages 13 and
older in June and July 2004, reporting that neary all
teenagers and young adults (90%) use IM. The percentage
of older age groups using IM tapers off slightly from the
youngest group, but the study finds that even among the
oldest respondents — ages 55 and up — a healthy 48%
are using IM.
The findings for usage by age group are collective for
at-home, at-work and mobile IM usage. Looking specifically
at usage from each location, AOL reports that 27% of
respondents are using IM at work, representing a 71%
increase from last year. As for the uses of IM at work, AOL
finds that a vast majority of respondents are using it to
communicate with colleagues, while 34% use it to interact
with clients or customers. IM is also a good way for work
users to avoid other forms of communication, as 11% say
they use it to avoid what they think might be an
uncomfortable face-to-face conversation.

New data from Enpocket's quarterly mobile marketing
report, Mobile Media Monitor, shows that mobile phone
ownership and usage continues to increase rapidly. The
study's findings reveal that 128 million US adults now use
a mobile phone, and usage of different interactive mobile
features like ringtones, games, and text messaging
continues to surge.
Mobile phone penetration increased 8 percent from 53 to
61 percent in the third quarter, according to the results.
Mobile, in general, is often thought of as a youth medium,
but its highest penetration actually occurs in the 35-49 age
group, where 7 out of 10 people have a mobile phone.
Usage and income are also intertwined: 83 percent of
those earning $75K or higher regularly use a mobile
phone versus 38 percent among those who earn less
than $20,000 per year.

Too Many Icons!
So you have 15 icons in your system tray.
They're eating your computer's memory like crazy.
System Tray: That area "down there" in the lower right
corner of your screen where the clock sits.
Each icon represents a program that's running silently in
the background. A "TSR"... Terminate and Stay Resident. A
"TSR" is a program that starts up when you turn on your
computer, then terminates (you don't see it) but stays
resident in memory.
And it uses up resources! (A resource is a special place in
memory that is easily wasted.)
Check your resources now. Right click on My Computer, choose
"Properties," then click the "Performance" tab.
What is the percentage of free resources? If
your computer is like most folks, you'll have maybe 45
percent free.
Which of course means over half of your system's resources
are being used up? And that's why your system may freeze up,
lock up.
The only way to "fix" your computer's resource problem is to
reboot ... that is, restart.
How can you stop all the "TSR"s from loading when you power
up?
If you have Windows 98 or later, you can use MSCONFIG.
Go to start then to run and type in MSCONFIG, this will
show you what you have running and you can uncheck the
ones you don't need.

A Good Reason To Keeping
Your Skin Healthy

I had a very interesting conversation with an elderly gentleman
who lived by himself far away from his family. His only regular
visitors were home support workers who came in daily. They
fixed his meals and washed his bedclothes…daily. They also
did a few chores and then left.
During our conversation, I discovered that he had an itch
“below” and had had this for years. He was very uncomfortable
despite cream which had been prescribed by his doctor. With
his permission I asked him how long he had had this and how
he treated it. Through more gentle and non-offensive questioning,
I found out that the area was raw (excoriated) and bleeding at
times (hence the daily bedsheet washes). The area also burned
and was very painful whenever he walked or shifted his position.
Before I share my suggestions, let me tell you that skin is meant
to be intact, dry and warm so it can protect you. It is not meant to
be moist 24 hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks a
year...for years. It needs to be cleaned and intact. It needs to
breathe. Skin is very fragile, especially in the perineal area.
Suppose you had a dressing full of chemicals on your foreman
for that long period of time. You know it would be painful and
cause all sorts of problems. It would “breakdown”. The perineal
area is between your legs and includes the scrotum. It is very soft
and very fragile tissue. As I write this, you may even be able to
“feel his pain”.
In my friend’s case what was even stranger was that when he
applied the cream, it would be really uncomfortable, but he
persisted. Those were his instructions. He followed them
faithfully. I found out that he didn’t wash off the old stuff, but
simply heaped on more. (I didn’t want to ask if he used a spoon
to get the cream out of the container for fear of making him feel
even worse. He should have not put his fingers into the pot.)

That was a shock to Tim. He immediately sent
thoughts out to Sharon, "Hang in there Sharon.
I'll meet with you tomorrow at the restaurant. If
you cannot you need only think of me and send me
thoughts of where we can meet, I'll be there. This
will all pass. Treat them with love and kindness."
He walked down the street a little and then
vanished, only to appear at his own home again.
Later that night he was lying in bed thinking
about Sharon. His vision of her was that of an
angel. She was clearly the most beautiful woman he
had ever met and she appeared to like him. Oh, my
the heart confused the head sometimes. He wasn't
exactly sure what to think. Then it happened.
"Tim, I am in my room. My parents were sure
upset and angry that I spent time with you. They
are in the front room talking. They don't want me
to see you anymore, but I want to. I can be at the
restaurant tomorrow. Will you still be there? I'm
sorry about the way my mother behaved."
Tim almost cried. She remembered how to reach
him. "Yes Sharon. I'll be there anytime you can be
there. Don't worry about what your Mom did. They
are just scared. It will pass. What time do you
want to meet?"
"I want to meet you earlier. I'll skip my home
economics class and we can meet at 3 O'clock. Is
that okay?" Oh! I want you."
"I'll be there. You have a good night. I'll be
thinking about you all night long." Tim was
shocked and sent into orbit again with that last
thought Sharon sent him. That they could
communicate like this mean she had also believed
at least some of what she had been told. He could
hardly sleep a wink. He thought of her all night,
tossing and turning. Finally he sent some more
thoughts, "Are you awake?"
"Yes" came the thoughts back, "I can't sleep.
I'm thinking of you and I can't get to sleep."
"That is what is happening to me too. Can you
get dressed without your parents knowing about
it?"
"Yes, what are you thinking?"
"If you can trust me for a while, get dressed.
I'll come into your room to get you and we'll go
somewhere."
"Okay."
"Tell me when you're ready."
"Okay" she responded.
Tim waited for the answer. It came in about
five minutes. "Okay, Tim, I'm dressed."
In the flash of an eye Tim materialized in her
room. It surprised Sharon. She uttered a startled
yelp. Tim immediately rendered himself invisible
and Sharon jumped into bed and under the covers.
Sure enough the door opened and her mother
looked in to see if all was well. Seeing nothing
out of place, she closed the door and returned to
where she had been.
Tim became visible again. "Wow! That was
close. Come, let's go." He held out his hand for
Sharon and the moment she touched him they
vanished. They reappeared in that instant at
Sonora's place in Africa.
"Oh my! It's warm here. Where are we?"
"This hut is the home of a friend of mine. Her
name is Sonora. This is in the heart of Africa.
There are the Serengeti Plains. Look at all the
animals."
"But that's impossible. This is just a dream."
"No, Sharon, it is not impossible. Here, pick
up some of this earth. Feel it, taste it. Pinch
yourself, pinch me."
She did all of those things. When she reached
out to pinch Tim he took her in his arms. The
moment he did that they were again transported
into that land of emotional love, sponsored in no
small part by lustful blood coursing through their
veins. Sharon literally melted into his arms. She
found herself fitting into every curve and
crevice. Tim had to stand strong just to support
her for she behaved as if her knees were going to
let go anytime.
He felt her body, warm and supple, against
him. His own body was reacting in ways he didn't
want her to know about. Yet he didn't know how she
could miss it. Her breasts were supple against his
chest. Her arms were soft around his neck. The
smell of her hair nearly drove him wild. Her soft
cheek, warm and inviting was brushing against his
own. He could feel her tummy against his and her
legs between his. She gave him a full body hug and
her groin was rubbing against his, sending his
mind to places he had not been before.
Tim pulled back a little so he could look into
her eyes. They told him all he wanted to know.
Gently and firmly he placed his lips on hers. She
opened her mouth to receive his tongue. He felt
her teeth, tasted her mouth, licked her lips. The
more he did that the more of her he wanted. He
could have devoured her in that moment.
