Ask Questions First!
by Ken Darby
A priest is walking down the street one day when he notices a
small boy tying to press a doorbell on a house across the street.
However, the doorbell is just out of his reace.
After watching the boy's efforts for some time, the priest moves
closer to the boy's position. He steps smartly across the street,
walks up behind the little fellow and, placing his hand kindly
on the child's shoulder leans over and gives the doorbell a ring.
Crouching down to the child's level, the priest smiles
benevolently and asks, "And now what, my little man?"
To which the boy turns and yells, "NOW WE RUN!"
It seems to me this priest was making assumptions that
might now put him into an embarrassing position. He
assumed the boy was wanting to ring the doorbell and
speak with anyone who answered. The priest must have
been an older fellow who had forgotten the things he
did as a boy.
Assumptions can get us into a great deal of difficulty, or
keep us from gaining our objective. We must learn to be
attentive every step of the way. Ask questions at every
turn to ensure you are fully aware of the condition as
it changes.
There is a story about Henry Ford who once took out an
engineer for lunch. Ford wanted to hire an engineer for a
certain project and this was part of his selection process.
The pair sat down, ordered, and spoke through the meal.
When the food arrived the engineer took the salt and
pepper and seasoned his meal as he always did when
he ate. Ford never hired him. It seems the man never
tasted his food before he added the salt and pepper. He
had assumed it needed the seasoning. Ford could not
afford to have any engineer assume anything. That is a
sure recipe for failure.
Some fail to ask questions on the basis it makes them
look foolish. Poor excuse. If you ask a question you are
ignorant until you get the answer. If you don't ask you are
ignorant past the point of no return. Assuming can cause
you to fail. It is a disease that is based on vanity, ego, pride.
It is in your life too. You will undoubtedly experience it
once or twice, but pledge to your self you will...

Excel
The Plot Area is the part of the Excel chart that contains the
actual chart. The Format Plot Area dialog box has only one tab:
Patterns. This tab enables you to change the color and pattern of
the Plot Area and adjust its borders.
When you select a chart element, you'll find that many of the
toolbar buttons that you normally use for worksheet formatting
also work with the selected chart element. For example, if you
select the chart's Plot Area, you can change its color by using
the Fill Color tool on the Formatting toolbar. If you select an
element that contains text, you can use the Font Color tool to
change the color of the text.
You can resize and reposition the Plot Area by selecting it and
then dragging its borders.

A Good Reason To Keeping
Your Skin Healthy
PART 3 of 5
Here is what happened. I checked up on him first thing the next
morning. As I expected, he felt a whole lot better! I suggested
that he show his doctor with whom he had an appointment that
day, the affected area. Unfortunately, there was no time to do
that and my friend came away with a pain killer patch on his
arm. He is continuing his cleaning routine and is making nice
progress. One other thing we discussed was his clothes. If you
have pain or irritation in an area like that, tight clothes restrict
your movements and add to the problem. In my friends case, he
found some clothes from his larger days and felt much more
comfortable wearing them. Loose clothes help with air circulation
and thus promote healing. Tight clothes can easily tear the
fragile skin.
Skin is a strange thing
it weaves in and out of your body to
cover it all. In some places it wants to be warm and dry and in
other spots it needs to be moist and warm. (So the edges dont
stick together.) You have to make sure that the right type of
cover is always in the right place. Moist type of skin is called
mucous membrane. Its environment needs to be warm and
dark and obviously moist. Putting it where it would become dry
and exposed, could lead to problems. And the opposite is true
for the regular skin that covers most of your body. Giving it a
moist warm dark environment could turn it into the problem we
see with my friend.. Mucous membranes are the part which
weave into openings and need to be soft and moist and warm.
Create the wrong environments for either and you will have a
lot of pain and trouble to deal with. As I am writing this, the
face of a crocodile comes to mind. I picture its skin as rough
and tough, but its mouth is lined with a soft and moist cover
and it is an extension of the outside skin.) So take a little care
and get a whole of protection, as nature meant it to be: a
blanket full of protection.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

It was all Tim could do to attempt to think
straight. He knew he was out of control and he had
to regain center. He was in his room at home. All
he could think about is what just happened. His
body was reacting wildly to that last caress. He
had to do something to relieve himself. He did.
That helped bring his mind back to the here
and now. But, still, all he could think about was
Sharon. This time however, he was thinking about
her situation and the conditions under which she
was living. He desperately wanted to change that
but he knew he would not.
In all of this it never even occurred to him
that she might be using him to further her own
ends. She could have taken him for a real ride,
but it never crossed his mind.
Fortunately that was not the case. Sharon had
it bad for Tim, too. She was lying in bed after
Tim left. She reached up and touched her breast,
the one Tim had touched. In doing so she
remembered what it felt like to have Tim touch
her. She, too, went into that lustful unthinking
state. She found she had to bring on relief for
herself, and did. That at least got rid of those
emotions, at least temporarily. She then pondered
her condition and what she would do about it.
Before long the household was up and starting
their day. Sharon was tired and didn't want to get
up. Where she was normally up by herself, today
she waited until her mother called her.
Both Tim and Sharon were confused. They had
not been involved in such heavy feelings before.
Never had anything taken on such euphoric
proportions, or taken over control of their hearts
and minds like this. Then there was the incident
at the door, for Tim and the subsequent arguments
with Sharon after Tim left.
That Tim was 22 and Sharon 18 did not help the
situation much. While that was not too much of an
age difference, it was enough to give her parents
purchase on an argument. If the fight that they
didn't want her associating with "them" was
insufficient they were grasping at any straw they
could hold and the age difference allowed them to
think Tim was overpowering their daughter. They
gave her no credit for being able to think.
Sharon could see that and yet she fought on.
She found herself frustrated by unreasonable
assumptions on things her parents knew absolutely
nothing. She knew more than they did on this
matter and yet they gave no consideration to that.
So, what could she fight? Ignorance? You can't
fight that for it will go wherever it can to come
up with different arguments, all unsubstantiated.
Sharon and Tim were caught, at this moment, in
a trap. It was based on ignorance and they knew
they could do nothing about it.
The day dragged on interminably slow. In fact
it was one of those days that went so slow it was
fast. It was as if every move they made it was in
slow motion, but 3 O'clock was upon them, finally.
Tim was waiting at the restaurant when Sharon
came in. She almost ran over to see him. She
dropped her books into the seat and sat down,
grabbing his hands before the books even hit the
seat. They said nothing, just stared into each
others eyes. All the feelings they had for each
other were again blasting forth with great force.
They were so involved with one another they didn't
even notice the waitress there to serve them.
"May I get you anything?" The waitress was not
being heard. She reached down and pushed on Tim's
shoulder.
"What? Oh! Yes!" He responded sheepishly.
We'll have a chocolate milk shake and two straws.
Again they were left alone. He wanted to touch
her. She wanted him to touch her. This was not the
time or place and they both knew it.
The milk shake came and they began to drink as
they did yesterday. When that was done they
decided to go for a walk.
Once outside Tim asked, "Would you like to
travel to where my sister Eloise lives?"
"That would be nice."
He took her hand and in that instant they were
standing in front of Eloise's and Mazunta's
cooking fire. There was no fire there now but that
is where they touched down.
"Hi, you two. What are you doing here?" asked
Eloise as she came out of the hut to speak with
them.
"I just brought Sharon down to see where you
lived Sis. We thought it would be a nice visit."
One look at the two and Eloise knew exactly
what was going on. She knew they had to work this
think out. She knew too, how intense these
feelings were and how powerful and all possessing
they were inside ones mind and heart. She knew
there was no reasoning with them and that each
would have to try to work it out. The problem with
such strong emotions is that it created the
condition where folks didn't want to work it out.
"Here you two. Step inside the hut. It's yours
for an hour." Eloise hoped clear thinking would
prevail.
