Ashcroft Announces 150 Arrests in Spam Roundup

The Justice Department has made 150 arrests and filed
117 criminal complaints and indictments in a roundup of
online fraud, spam and cybercrime cases, U.S. Attorney
General John Ashcroft said yesterday.
Operation Web Snare, which is ongoing and included
several arrests made yesterday, targeted identity theft,
fraud, counterfeit software, computer intrusions and other
crimes. The announcement follows Wednesday's unveiling
of arrests and legal action taken against a file-sharing
network by the Justice Department, the first federal criminal
copyright action taken against a peer-to-peer network.
As part of Operation Web Snare, the department conducted
more than 160 investigations and 140 search warrants since
June 1 and identified more than 150,000 victims with
estimated losses of $215 million.
Some of the cases handled by the Justice Department include:
An indictment against a Romanian man accused of
hacking into a technology distributor's online ordering system
to have fraudulent orders shipped to addresses around the
United States.
The extradition of a man from Cyprus accused of
trafficking in illegally obtained credit card information from
around the world.
An 11-year prison sentence for a Utah man to offer car
and aircraft parts -- which he didn't have -- over the Internet,
then taking buyer's money without delivering.
A guilty plea in an extortion case against a Pakistani
man who contacted Eddie Bauer via e-mail claiming to have
photos showing child labor being used to manufacture the
company's apparel.
In some of the cases, the Justice Department received
assistance from the Direct Marketing Association's Operation
Slam Spam, the DMA said. The DMA said it has contributed
$500,000 to the joint effort with law enforcement to track
down deceptive e-mail spammers.
"We hope that our participation and support of Operation
Slam Spam further demonstrates that legitimate marketers
are putting a stake in the ground and are letting spammers
know that we aren't going to give up on the promise of e-mail
as a trusted and reliable vehicle for global commerce,
communication and education, without putting up a very
hard fight," DMA president/CEO John A. Greco Jr. said
in a statement.

Word 2002
Word has always had a command for performing calculations on
numbers visible on the screen in your documents. Unfortunately,
Word buries this handy command where you're not likely to come
across it -- in the Customize dialog box. To find and activate
the command, choose Tools, Customize and switch to the Commands
tab. Select All Commands in the Categories list, and then scroll
way down in the Commands list until you see the Tools Calculate
command. Haul it out and put it on the Tools menu or on the
toolbar.
After the Calculate command is accessible, performing a
calculation is as simple as selecting the numbers in your
document and clicking the button or menu item. It doesn't matter
how numbers are arranged -- in a row, in a column, or even within
or across paragraphs, separated by any amount of text. The result
appears in the status bar and is placed on the clipboard, so
doing a quick Ctrl+V (Paste) deposits it at the insertion point.
By default, Word adds the selected numbers, but it will dutifully
perform subtraction, multiplication, or division if the
appropriate symbol precedes a number in the selected text.

Sugars And Artificial Sweeteners:
The Natural And The Unnatural

As I was doing research on artificial sweeteners, it suddenly
struck me that these products or ingredients have little to do
with nutrition...or wellness, but a lot to do with how we see
our "pleasure". Sour or salty stuff makes us frown: sweet stuff
makes us smile. Frowning makes us unhappy. Something
sweet makes us feel good and we all want to feel good.
Unfortunately we are conditioned to think "sweet" is fattening
and to do our best to avoid it. But we are also told that being
happy and overweight is not what we should be: that we should
reduce the amount of calories. So the cycle begins. You want to
be happy, yet slim. You are hungry, yet recall that sugar equals
calories which equals weight which equals non-acceptance. So you
start looking for alternatives, with the expectation that they
are perfectly safe: i.e. harmless. Our goal is to feel good
without calories.
I don't think I know one person who hasn't been faced with these
choices. Personally I think your results mirror your
self-esteem. If you value yourself, you will do a lot of
research before putting any unknown into your body...once you
realise you do HAVE choices.
I briefly mentioned "hunger". Hunger is your body's way of
letting you know it needs some nutrients. I'm not going to go
deeply into nutrition but I want to say that this is the way you
stay alive. So nutrition is vital to life! And hunger just lets
you know it needs more "life". But to make this a bit more
interesting, let me suggest that you are feeding a huge cell,
a.k.a. your body. That body is divided into systems, which
further divide into organs and subsequently into a smaller
part...the cell. So in essence we are now dealing with cellular
nutrition....nutrition to feed the individual cells. And know
that there are thousands of different types of cells (insulin,
kidney, skin, brain, etc.).

Tim and Sharon stepped into Eloise's hut. It
was darker and it took them a couple seconds to
have their eyes adjust. There was no one else in
the hut, just them.
Tim brought Sharon close and kissed her. She
once more brought her groin in to touch his. This
time Tim moved his own hand unto her breast. She
moaned out loud. "Oh, Tim! Yes." She wanted him
and she wanted him all the way. She knew she
wouldn't but she wanted him.
It was the same for Tim. He pushed her gently
back onto the bed. Sharon sat, then lay back. Tim
was on top of her. She spread her legs and he lay
between them. He lay still, for fear of going too
far. They were breathing hard. He kissed her
again. She raised her groin to meet him harder. He
pushed and she moaned again.
Tim rolled off her and lay beside her. "We
can't do this yet. It isn't right just yet. We
must gain control of ourselves Sharon. This is new
to both of us and we don't want to do anything
we'll regret."
Sharon was beginning to think she would regret
not going through with it. "Oh, Tim. Hold me."
He put his arm under her neck and around her
back, pulling her to him. She blended into his
body as if she were water. She took his hand and
put it on her breast. "Touch me. Hold me. Feel
me."
He did. His hand was roaming all over her
breast and he turned her so he could also reach
the other breast. Then he stopped. He pulled her
to him and then pulled up the back of her sweater.
There he was able to reach her brassiere strap and
he clumsily undid it.
She rolled gently back onto her back and his
hand was now on her naked breast. He gently
pinched her nipple. Her breathing and her moaning
was more intense and louder. She was bucking her
hips in complete abandon.
Tim lowered his head and took her breast into
his mouth. He sucked on it. She held his head to
her with one hand and held her breast to his mouth
with the other. Her movements were almost
uncontrollable. Tim's were likewise animalistic.
Then he calmly lifted his head, pulled her
sweater down and went up to kiss her. 'Oh, Tim, I
want you, I want you."
"Yes I know and I want you so bad I can hardly
stop." He kissed her. Her tongue was everywhere in
his mouth. Her lips were wet and they slipped all
around on his. He could breath her fumes. It was
intoxicating.
"Sharon we must slow down. We must not carry
on with this. Our feelings are too intense too
soon. We must preserve them and respect one
another. We have to stop this and look at our
future and decide what we want. We must get used
to having these feelings and still function with
clear heads. If I were to do what I wanted I would
make you pregnant and we can't risk that."
"I want your baby. Give it to me."
He was having a hard time controlling himself.
It was clear to him and to her that is what he
wanted too. She had her hand on his groin,
manipulating him. He moaned.
"Sharon we have to think. It would be easy for
us to do this. And I know that is what you want.
So do I, but we can't. Not just yet. Let's enjoy
this being together for a while until we are sure,
not just from emotions, but from clear thinking.
We have a hard road ahead. It would be marred and
it would weaken us if we did this now."
Thank goodness such intensity can only last
for so long and gives way to reduced power. They
were both coming down from the high that could
have caused a pregnancy.
That is not to say they were not in each
others arms and touching one another all over. It
is only to say the intensity levels were dropping
so the motivation to continue was no longer so
powerful.
Soon they were able to think more clearly.
"You're right. I want you so bad I can hardly help
myself." She was rubbing his manhood through his
jeans. "But if we don't control ourselves I will
have to lie to my mother about us and she would
know I was lying. If I don't have to lie, and can
look her in the eye knowing I have behaved myself
she will lose her power. Soon I can bring her
around. I don't want to stop. Tim I want you in
me. But you are right. When it is right it will
happen. Until then I love you." She uttered those
words into Tim's ear, quietly. He was both
relieved and getting hotter all at the same time.
"Mr. Henry would you please do up my
brassiere?" She asked the question lovingly, and
turned over so he could get the job done.
Tim did her up and straightened out her
sweater, then turned her over and kissed her full,
wet and tasted her. She brought her body into his
and pumped. They had crossed a threshold. She felt
free to do this, as did Tim, for there was no more
shyness between them. It was comfortable and it
even felt right. Slowly but inexorably their love
was maturing. It had a long way to go but it was
beginning.

A young preacher was asked by the local funeral director
to hold a grave-side burial service at a small local
cemetery for someone with no family or friends. The
