TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

How much would it cost to buy an island?

Could I rent an island?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

If I exercise, will my heart get bigger?

Kind of. It's more complicated than that, but a heart that
undergoes a great deal of exercise does, indeed, perform
more efficiently and has a larger stroke volume. Athletes
may also show a mild increase in heart muscle.

If a person buys an entire island, is he immune to any laws
while on it?

You can buy an island, but that doesn't make you king!
Islands are subject to the laws of the countries to which
they belong. Buying an entire island doesn't mean you have
become the owner of your OWN country.

Microsoft Betas Browser Upgrade
by Shankar Gupta,

MICROSOFT THIS WEEK RELEASED A beta
version of the new Internet Explorer 7, bundled with a test
version of a new operating system, formerly known as
Longhorn, and now dubbed Windows Vista. The latest version
of Microsoft's browser incorporates a number of features
from rising rival Firefox, including tabbed browsing, as
well as a search function that allows users to search
directly from the toolbar on MSN, Yahoo!, Google, or
AskJeeves. Technical documents accompanying the beta version
say the final version of Internet Explorer 7 will include
the option to add yet more search engines.

Offering users the ability to search from any search engine
from the desktop could cut into search giant Google's market
share by making it easier for consumers to switch search
engines. Currently, 58 percent of Google's users also search
at least occasionally on Yahoo! or MSN, according to
Nielsen//NetRatings.

The upgraded browser also apparently seeks to address many
of the problems that users have with current versions of
Internet Explorer, including security issues. The new
browser's infrastructure includes a number of features
designed to fight malware--viruses, worms, adware, and
spyware. One change involves creating a top-level
administration login, and placing the default user at a
lower login without installation privileges, making it
impossible for users to download software from the Web
without the users' knowledge or consent.

A similar protection will also prevent certain settings from
being changed without the user's knowledge, preventing
tactics such as home page resetting. The new browser also
has a function to identify and warn users of possible
phishing sites.

Although Internet Explorer is the clear market share leader
in the browser space, open source underdog FireFox has been
increasing its market share all year. According to
NetApplications, Internet Explorer claims 86.56 percent of
the market, while Firefox is second with 8.71 percent.

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 15 of 31

Respiratory Infections Mealy’s evaluation of a number
of studies on respiratory infections suggests that the
oral cavity acts as a reservoir for bacteria that can
find its way into the lungs. These studies indicate
that mouth and throat bacterial colonization precedes
bacterial respiratory infection. While no current
studies specifically demonstrate a direct correlation,
there is strong evidence that one exists.

There is also evidence that the gum pocket may be the
source of the respiratory bacteria. A number of
bacterial organisms believed to be common in infected
gum pockets have been found in bacterial pneumonia. In
one study, researchers isolated a number of bacterial
species from a case report of pneumonia. Upon clinical
examination, the author’s only significant finding was
“marked periodontitis”, indicating that the bacteria
originated in the gum pocket.

Another important study found that the substances that
initiate respiratory infections most often originate
from the periodontal pocket. The study showed that
these organisms can produce respiratory diseases, such
as pulmonary abscesses, resulting in a significant
disease and even death.

Osteoporosis Researchers at the University of Buffalo,
led by Jean Wactawski-Wende, reported that most people
diagnosed with periodontal disease may be at a higher
risk of underlying osteoporosis. This study, conducted
in 1995 and published in the Journal of Periodontology,
is the first large-scale assessment of the relationship
between bone metabolism and oral health. The authors
reported that if the relationship remains strong in
further studies, it is possible that a routine dental
X-ray could be used to screen for bone loss. In
addition, dentists could provide education and
treatment for gum disease that could combat oral bone
and tooth loss and possibly reduce the extent of
osteporosis.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"How did you find this out, Sam?"

"Bob, I saw that religion has killed
thousands, millions. Worse it has created terrible
lives for those who follow the dictates of the
church, any church. Look at what is going on in
this world today. Take a piece of paper and write
down upon it all the trouble spots in the world
that are happening today. Once you have done that,
turn your paper over and then write down all those
trouble spots that are not created by some
religious belief."

"There are none, Sam!" Upon thinking on that
matter Bob was suddenly shocked to realize there
is no trouble spot in the world that is not
basically caused by some religious belief.

"Do you honestly think your Maker set up this
world to be like that?"

"No, Sam, it doesn't make any sense."

"So now, tell me why do people continue to
follow religions that are responsible for such a
mess?"

"I suppose, like me and the thoughts that go
through my head now, they are saying 'Yes, but not
my church.' They think that because they have no
trouble here with their own church things must be
all right."

"Sure, and they fail to see the trouble within
their own church. The Christian church in North
America teaches we are to love all, even the
prostitute. Yet if a woman, known to be a
prostitute, goes to church she is not made
welcome. The women of that church will not welcome
her, they will ostracize her. Moreover, look at
all the pedophiliacs within the church leadership
and absolutely the worst thing of all is the
church is hiding them. These people have not been
brought to the law like the rest of us. That means
the church is aiding and abetting that condition.
Is that the church you want to be associated with
Bob?"

"Sam, that's not fair. Not all the church is
like that."

"That is where you are wrong, Bob. It might be
true that not all church leaders are pedophiliacs,
but it is true that the church as a whole and as
an organization is hiding them. It means that all
the people who do not stand up and demand these
offenders be brought before the law of the land
are part of the problem. Jesus made the statement
that those who are not for him are against him.
You will notice there is no middle ground. The
same is true here. Those who are not for these
offenders being brought before the law, are
against it. If they do not speak out they, too,
benefit the aiding and abetting."

"Sam, that's harsh."

"Is it harsh because I speak it out loud, Bob?
Or is it just the plain harsh truth? All I ask is
that you take a good, realistic, hard look. I
don't have to say it - look."

"I guess I just don't like the truth when you
point out I am part of the problem. I don't want
any responsibility for that Sam."

"Neither does anyone else. Yet if these
offenders are not brought before the law is not
the church creating a more sinister problem? Is it
not aiding and abetting dishonesty wherever it
happens? Remember the law, Bob, 'As ye sow, so
shall ye reap.' What kind of a future will this
kind of act bring upon our grandchildren? Is not
the church teaching honesty is okay if you don't
have to pay a price?"

"I don't know."

"Yes, Bob, you do know. It is just that you
don't want to face this now. You believe that if
you put it aside it will go away. So you don't
think of it."

"You folks look like you're deep into
something serious. How are you, anyway?"

Sam turned around to see Ted Kuzik the TV
newsman from Philadelphia. "Hello, Ted. What on
earth brings you out here?"

Ted Kuzik had been a real thorn in the side of
the Henrys since Eloise had first come home from
her trip. He was one of those newsmen who didn't
care about anything so long as he got the story.
He would walk over anybody. Sam had little respect
for the man. However, after several attempts by
Kuzik to get stories and being thwarted by Sam,
and when Tim Henry had pulled Kuzik out from under
fallen rubble in the explosion that hit downtown
Pinehill, Kuzik held the Henry family in
considerably higher regard than anyone else on the
planet. Tim had saved his life.

"Sam, I heard Tim was getting married this
weekend and I wanted to stop in and congratulate
him."

"Where is your cameraman?"

"I left him at home. This is personal. I got
called away the last two days and couldn't get
here until now. I see I'm too late. That's too
bad, I really wanted to see Tim."

"I will send him the message, even now, if you
like. Is it that important to you?"

HA! HA! HA!

My daughter's third-grade teacher had assigned the children
to write a story titled "My Biggest Surprise."

Not until the end of the school year did we see Marina's
work. It read: "I got up this morning and I ran into Mommy
and Daddy's bed and hopped in. But it wasn't Mommy at all.
It was Mrs. Del Campo!"

What her essay neglected to say was that we had called Mrs.
Del Campo late at night to stay with our children while I
took my wife to the hospital to have our third child.

"I believe the first test of a truly great man is his
