Where in the world can you pay a premium to eat poison fish?
What is the origin of the phrase "red-letter day"?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Where in the world has myopia reached epidemic proportions?
In east Asia. In places like Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong,
and Japan, as many as ninety percent of the young population
is now myopic, compared to just fifteen to thirty percent in
Europe and the United States.
What is the "arsenic hour"?
It's how poison center personnel refer to the hours of 4 pm
to 10 pm - the "dinner" hours when most calls are made to
poison control centers. Dinner time is typically a busy time
for parents, and kids are more likely during this period to
be unsupervised. Hence, they're more likely to get into
bathroom and kitchen cabinets and find something to ingest
that shouldn't be ingested. Watch your kids while you make
dinner!

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------
My Old Cream Separator!
The days of youth, all youth, are grand and glorious. We, as
kids, had not yet learned to pass judgment and we just
accepted things as they were, without a problem. Oh, for the
joyful days of youth.
I was sitting around on our deck the other day with a bunch
of kids around me and we were talking about such things.
I told them how I had to go to the farm for milk every
night, and milk came in glass bottles and wasn't
pasteurized. I told them how all the cream used to rise to
the top of the bottle and we either had to take it off or
what we did most of the time was shake the bottle. The milk
was rich and filling.
Staying with milk, I told them how I used to milk cows and
how, when done, I would take the milk to the house and there
we put it into a machine we called a cream separator. We put
the milk in and then turned the handle. The machine
separated the milk from the cream. It would let the cream
run out into a bottle we had placed under a spout and the
milk into a pail we placed under another spout. The whole
thing was a really neat thing.
And, of course, I told them about how I was visiting a
friend on a farm one day in the winter. My friend had to
sleep in a new addition to the house and they had no heat in
it yet. When I awoke in the morning I had a mustache made of
frost on my upper lip.
Well! I think you can guess at the reaction I got. In unison
I got "Grrannndddpppaa!"
"Okay guys, if you don't want to talk about things that
happened in the past, how about talking about things in the
future?" I said.
"Yeah, that's a good idea" they said.
Next I said "Can you imagine not going to school? Your Mom
would put earphones on you at night when you went to bed,
turn on a computer that would start making sounds in your
ears that would be teaching you the grade you had to learn?
And then, when you had to write an exam all they did was
hook you up to a computer and all you had to do was think
the answers to the questions? Wouldn't that be neat?"
"Far out, Grandpa and would we have cars that would go where
we thought they should go? said the oldest.
"Of course!" I said, "and planes and ships and busses and
trucks, everything. All you would have to do would be to put
on a headset and just by your thoughts you would be able to
direct the vehicle where you wanted it to go. Wouldn't that
be neat?"
"Grandpa, that would be awesome!" they said, "do you think
that will happen?"
"Sure I think it will happen, but it is a shame" I said.
"But Grandpa, why? Look at all the neat stuff you could do
just by thinking" the oldest one said.
"Well, son, if people would only learn to think the right
way now they could do it. Jesus taught that all men would be
able to do what he did and if you read the chapter in your
Bible called Luke 24 you will see how he was able to come
and go, just vanish into thin air. Then if you go to Matthew
chapter 21 verses 21 & 22 you will see how you can do it." I
said.
"Also, son, the crime is that man will spend all his time
and energies creating these machines when if he put less
effort into thinking correctly about higher law he could do
all that stuff and more. Why don't you study on it?" I
asked.
What an interesting afternoon that was.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson
The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 28 of 31
Even if a thorough evaluation shows that a person with
Menieres doesnt have ANY of these oral health
problems he or she will have accomplished a great deal
by eliminating a number of potential triggers. That
means one can move on to other health issues as a
potential cause.
Ive run into those that try to isolate a particular
problem, such as Menieres or CFS, as if their major
health issue doesnt involve the rest of the body. They
attempt to focus treatment solely in that one area and
although they generally get some relief from that
approach, if it is also related to other health issues,
they can never hope to truly eliminate their problem.
Plus, not doing so will still leave them vulnerable to
the side effects of those other health problems in the
future.
So while it would be truly wonderful to know a specific
cause for Menieres, it is still in a persons best
interest to achieve optimal health. So looked at in the
right way the idiopathic aspect can really become a
motivating factor to identify and eliminate other
health problems.
The two oral health issues that I believe can
contribute to, cause, or trigger Menieres symptoms,
are mercury amalgam fillings and gum disease. But
because of its effect on the immune system I also
believe it would be important to consider the
individuals sensitivity to dental materials and the
galvanic effect of dental fillings.
Real Age Evaluation It would be appropriate to end this
booklet with some insightful comments about the effects
of dental disease on longevity, by Dr. Michael F.
Roizen. In his classic book, Real Age: Are You as Young
as You Can Be? he offers a revolutionary, systematic
approach to calculating the aging effect of more than
100 different health behaviors. These range from diet
and medication to stress control and dental disease.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
As if on cue they all vanished. It happened in
such a way that many survivors noticed. There were
people there one minute and gone the next. They
congregated in one spot and said their good byes
to one another then left for their respective
homes. it had been a long haul.
Because of the self control each imposed on
themselves while they were courting, Tim and
Sharon felt they could make love with abandon.
That is exactly what they did. Yet, that self
control permitted them to become good friends as
well as lovers. So they spent the days basking in
the sun and enjoying each other not only in
lovemaking but in all the intellectual ways
people come together, as well.
It was a time of joy, of freedom, of being
with a best friend. Neither could describe it in
words, or wanted to, but each had a very deep
appreciation for the other.
While Sharon was three years younger than Tim,
she was intellectually equal to him. That became
especially true when she made the final leap
through the veil of simplicity into higher law.
The pair of them were as one. Each knew what the
other wanted before they had a chance to say it.
Each wanted to serve the other before themselves.
Such is the way of those who live by higher law.
When one can have all and anything they want
merely by manifestation, ones mind is no longer on
wanting material goods. The one thing that makes
that one happy is the pleasing, helping, being of
value to someone else.
The days of their honeymoon were warm and
luxurious. The had all they wanted at their
command. There was no conflict because each was
intent on giving to the other. There was no need
for radio, TV, or other outside entertainment,
they had each other. And they had the jungle and
the river. Sharon had not spent much time in this
environment and she was fascinated by the noises
of the jungle, the sight of such a vast river, and
the comings and goings of assorted animals.
Living by higher law meant they broadcast love
unto all and everything. Animals, therefore, did
not feel threatened as they came to the clearing.
The result was that nearly everyday some animal
would come through on it's way someplace.
Tim and Sharon got used to it and began to
meld into the environment. They became a part of
the place, of the rhythm, of the days and seasons.
It was as if they were able to feel the pulsing
heartbeat of the earth itself. And they fell in
step with their time and place.
Lovemaking then was not an isolated act but
part of what happened in this all natural time and
space. It was no longer the paramount thing in
their minds but just happened, anytime, anyway,
anyplace.
They had no thoughts about disease or about
controlling pregnancy. They were completely free
of all concerns and therefore entirely free. They
had discussed the idea of children. They agreed
they would want no more than three. They each
loved children and vowed to love and cherish them.
Neither felt, at this moment, they were losing
their life or all the things they wanted to do. It
was not a case with them that they had to choose
children or travel, setting up house or buying or
getting all the toys most people want. They could
do and have all they wanted.
Children would not impede the things they
wanted to do with their life. Children were going
to be an integral part of it.
As to travel, they well knew they could go
anywhere anytime. There was just not anything to
get in the way of having, loving, rearing,
educating and having fun with their own children
so the idea of birth control, to them, was
preposterous.
That is not to say that in man's world there
were not times and places where this was a concern
to man, and rightly so. It is only to say that to
Tim and Sharon they were happy with their lot in
life and were quite prepared to be responsible for
their actions, as is the way with those who live
by higher law. Indeed that is the essence of
higher law, man being responsible for his actions.
In man's world man loves to find anything,
anyone or any reason why results are not what he
wants. That is one of the primary motivators for
being a church goer, to use the excuse, "I guess
God just didn't want that for me." or "I guess God
wants me to have this cancer for a reason." Man
continually fails to see the law and be
responsible for his thinking, his actions and the
results each brings.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
"Honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a
relative, a friend, an acquaintance or a stranger."
---- Franklin P. Jones
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
It seems a man in Topeka, Kansas, decided to write a book
about churches around the country. He started by flying to
San Francisco, and started working east from there. He went
to a very large church and began taking photographs, etc. He
spots a golden telephone on a wall and is intrigued with a
sign which reads "$10,000 a minute."
Seeking out the pastor he asks about the phone and the sign.
The pastor answers that this golden phone is, in fact, a
direct line to Heaven and if he pays the price he can talk
directly to God. He thanks the pastor and continues on his
way. As he continues to visit churches in Seattle, Boise,
Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, Atlanta, and on
around the United States, he finds more phones, with the
same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.
Finally, he arrives in Tennessee. Upon entering a church in
Milan, lo and behold, he sees the usual golden telephone.
But THIS time, the sign reads "Calls: 25 cents."
Fascinated, he requests to talk to the pastor. "Reverend, I
have been in cities all across the country and in each
church I found this golden telephone, and have been told it
is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to God,
but, in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute.
Your sign reads 25 cents a call. Why?" The pastor, smiling
benignly, replies,
"Oh, my son, that's very easy to explain. You see, you're
now in Tennessee and, of course, it's a local call from
here."
