For You Or Against You!
As the crowded elevator descended, Mrs. Wilson became
increasingly furious with her husband, who was delighted to
be pressed against a gorgeous blonde.
As the elevator stopped at the main floor, the blonde
suddenly whirled, slapped Mr. Wilson, and said, "That will
teach you to pinch!"
Bewildered, Mr. Wilson was halfway to the parking lot with
his wife when he choked, "Bb... bbut... I... I...didn't
pinch that girl."
"Of course you didn't," said his wife, consolingly. "I did."
Gee! I wonder who's side the wife is on? Some folks are
clever.
This joke put me in mind of a conversation I was having with
a friend the other day on the subject of people either being
for you or against you.
The concept is a hard one to grasp because we are not often
in situations where people must make those choices. Yet, it
works in subtle ways, too.
Jesus once made the remark that "those who are not for me
are against me.". What it means is that when folks speak out
on your behalf, they are for you, Those who do not, are
against you, even while singing the praises of your fame.
And, when we get ourselves into tight corners, where we want
to rely on those around us we should take a cold and
calculated look. Too often you will find those you thought
were in your camp will not participate in helping you.
I had a friend who, being divorced, had a friend move in
with his ex. The conversation came around to this topic and
it was concluded that, while the friend was not an enemy, in
the sense of pursuing for harm, he would most certainly be
against my friend in any situation regarding the ex.
It gets to be that way, too, when you come into money. It is
quite remarkable, really, how many "friends" you have when
you have money, until you need them for something.
Fame, too, can be disaster in disguise, for it leads one to
believe they have all sorts of friends to count on. What an
incredible letdown when one discovers there is no one there
for you when, only yesterday they were singing your praises.
It is wise to know who is in your camp, and for what
reasons. Those based on money, fame, notoriety, belonging to
a group and for a myriad of other reasons are the ones of
whom you should be suspect. Those who are in your camp with
no thought of gain, are friends.
In business, too, it works that way. The public will sing
your praises so long as it is popular. Thereafter, they will
drop you like a hot potato. That is why businesses have
policies dedicated to providing service while keeping
personal feelings detached.
And, so, I leave you with the thought, analyze your groups,
your friends, your relationships. Make a determination of
who is ...

Conclusions The long-held belief that dental disease is
a localized, minor disease that only affects the teeth
and gums, has not withstood the test of time. Dental
disease, and other issues related to the mouth, can and
do contribute to serious health problems. They can also
interfere with successful medical treatment and healing
and can actually shorten life expectancy.
I believe that the evidence supporting the role of
dental disease in systemic diseases is conclusive. As a
patient, you cannot afford to overlook this
relationship when seeking treatment for any disease or
for attempting to extend life expectancy and improve
the quality of your life. If you suffer from any of the
symptoms or diseases referred to in this chapter, you
must determine if periodontal disease, amalgam
fillings, or another oral issue could be contributing
to its cause or severity. Certainly, you want to ensure
that you have at least eliminated dental disease or
mercury poisoning as a possible cause of, or
contributor to, your existing health problems.
Neglecting the issue of dental health, in my opinion,
jeopardizes the success of treatment and could lead to
disappointing outcomes. It could also result in great
frustration for you and your health practitioner.
Solutions Discussing problems without offering
solutions does not have much value. Therefore, I will
offer some solutions to help you address the problems
of dental disease and its effects on overall health.
I am not suggesting that you become a dentist yet, it
is vitally important to address the issue of oral
health, especially since it could affect the success of
any treatment you may now be undergoing.
Everyone understands that successful treatment hinges
on making an accurate diagnosis. In order to make a
truly ‘whole body’ diagnosis you, your dentist and your
health professional, must know the state of your oral
health.
My suggestion is that you make an appointment with your
dentist to determine the following:
1. Your total periodontal health;
2. Whether or not you have any infected root canals;
3. The condition of any extraction sites;
4. Whether or not you have, or have had, amalgam
fillings, including how many;
5. Whether or not you have been examined for other
diseases whose early signs and symptoms are found in
the oral cavity.

The pair of them sat in their chairs and
chatted. "Honey, how do you think your parents
took that wedding? There were a lot of things
happen that don't happen to them in daily life."
"I know, Tim. I think they are all right with
it. I know your Mom and Dad would talk it over
with them, leaving them comfortable with what
happened. I was thinking the way that earthquake
required everyone to leave must have caused quite
a hole in the party."
"I am sure it did, but that was the second
day. The wedding itself was over then. This was
just the social get together folks like to have at
such times. That's likely one of the reasons Ted
Kuzik wanted to be there."
"What was that all about? What connection do
you have with that guy? I've heard some terrible
things about him."
"Oh, he's fine, honey. He is a man whose ego
was bigger than he was. He caused a lot of enemies
in his lifetime and he thought we were one of
them. When my sister returned from her journey the
first time, she stopped on the highway to help out
a woman who had been in an accident. She had been
thrown out of the car and then the car landed on
her. She was being crushed and near death. The aid
workers who were there could not lift the car. Sis
did and they withdrew the woman. Sis then went up
to her and rendered her whole. She then became
aware of a child in the back seat of the car,
strapped into a car seat. The baby was safe but
the firemen couldn't get the door opened. Sis did
that too. When the child was reunited with the
Mother, Sis left, wanting to get out of there
before there was any notoriety. She almost made it
but Ted Kuzik had been there and had taken a photo
of the license plate. It took him some two months
to track us down but he did finally do it. Then he
wanted to make a big story out of it. It was right
around then that the local churches were beginning
to take objection to what we were doing, and the
whole thing had the potential of becoming a huge
public furor, fanned by Ted Kuzik's ego."
"That's some story, but how did he come to be
so calm and mild now?"
"Whenever Ted came around he found that all
recordings and all film he took always ended up
empty when he got back to the studio. He could
never understand it but any work he did around or
about us ended up being worthless. He had not
footage, so to speak. Then one day when he was
covering that disaster downtown in Pinehill, you
know that time he had that interview with your
Dad, the one that embarrassed you? Ted was getting
in close to do some photo work. He had left his
cameraman and was doing this by himself. He
happened to be in the center of the street when a
building collapsed. Its lucky he didn't get
killed. As it was he ended up buried, but harmed
only a little. He screamed and hollered for help
but no one came. There was a group of his fellow
journalists within 30 feet of him. The heard him
but no one made a move. I also heard him and went
to his rescue."
"That's why he likes you."
"That's part of it. But that day he finally
realized no one came to his rescue. He finally
realized he was not wanted by anyone. He finally
came to see how ugly and unwanted he was. That
changed him. He saw me, someone he thought was an
enemy, come to help him, and he never forgot it.
He has tried to be a giving, caring human ever
since. It shows in his broadcasts and in his
relationships. It's the same old "Scrooge" story.
He is one of the fortunate ones who had a chance
to really see who and what he was."
Sharon leaned over and gave him a kiss.
"That's why I love you so much. You do things for
all people. None are your enemies."
"Even in man's world Sharon, life is too short
for that kind of behavior."
"That's true, but there are a lot of people
who don't recognize that."
"We don't even think that way, living by
higher law. We know we can only do good and that
there is no place for negative emotions in our
lives."
"I thought that was hard before but when you
helped me learn higher law I was able to
immediately see the folly in doing anything other
than good."
"It's funny, isn't it. One can know something
intellectually, it even looks logical on the
surface, but you have to absorb it until it
becomes a part of your being before one can truly
understand it. Otherwise one only pays lip service
to it."
