TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
Why was the US without a president for one day in 1849?
So we really didn't have a president for a day?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Are koala bears really bears?
No. Koalas are actually marsupials (like kangaroos and
opossums). Like other marsupials, they carry their young in
a pouch. The name, "Koala," comes from an aboriginal saying
that means, "no drink." This is because the koala obtains
all the moisture it needs from the eucalyptus leaves it
eats.
What US president's body was exhumed 141 years after his
death to determine if he had been poisoned?
Zachary Taylor. President Taylor had only been in office 16
months when he died suddenly in 1850. It was believed that
he died of a gastrointestinal illness, possibly caused by
some cherries and buttermilk he had indulged in on July
Fourth, five days before he died. Others speculated that the
July Fourth festivities may have caused a serious case of
heatstroke. But rumors persisted that Taylor had actually
been murdered by supporters of Vice-President Millard
Fillmore, who wanted him to be president. In 1991, Taylor's
descendants had the body exhumed, and samples of his hair
and fingernails were taken to scientists for analysis. It
was determined that his arsenic levels were not abnormal,
thus helping to rule out the poisoning theory.

Information Economy
As of October 2003, 77 million people used a computer at
work, accounting for 55.5% of America's total workforce,
according to new statistics released by the US Department of
Labor.
The workforce data provide new evidence that the Information
Age has become a fact, transforming the way workers do their
jobs and the way business is conducted.
Women were found to be more likely than men to use a
computer. Computer-use rates for women and men were 61.8%
and 49.9%, respectively.
The higher level of computer use among women reflects their
occupational categories. For instance, two categories
"management and professional" and "sales and office"
account for nearly three-fourths of employed women. The
computer-use rate for women in these two occupations
combined was 74.8%.
In contrast, nearly two-fifths of men are employed in two
general categories "natural resources, construction, and
maintenance" and "production, transportation, and material
moving" in which combined computer-use rates is only 26%.
The study found that approximately two of every five US
workers are online on the job. In fact, the most commonly
reported task for the 77 million workers who used a computer
at work was accessing the Internet or using e-mail.
As with computer use, women were more likely than men to
work online. The Internet-use rate for women was 45.1%,
compared with 38.7% for men.
Other findings from the report include:
* Asians were more likely than other groups to use a
computer and the Internet at work.
* The likelihood of computer and Internet use at work is
greater for workers with more education.
* Slightly more than 1 in every 10 individuals in the
civilian noninstitutional population age 16 and over
reported that they had used the Internet between
January and October 2003 to search for a job.

Question About Calcium And Leg Cramps
PART 2 of 2
A Quick Guide For Calcium Needs & Sources:
Osteoporosis prevention should start early. And men and
women need the added protection of calcium.
Age/ Recommended Daily Intake
7 - 9/ 200 mgms.
10 -12 (girls) / 1200 1400 mgms
13 - 16 / 1200 1400 mgms
19 - 49 / 1000 mgms.
Men and women 50+: 1000- 1500 mgms.
CALCIUM: HOW TO TAKE IT FOR BEST ABSORPTION:
Be Aware Of The Difference Calcium can be taken in one of
several combinations. For most benefit, you should read and
follow the directions on the bottle. (As you should for
everything you eat.) Calcium should be taken with Vitamin D
for maximum absorption Be aware, too, that taking calcium
with meals can interfere with iron absorption. As it is fine
to take it outside of mealtime, this should be considered.
CALCIUM CARBONATE:
If your supplement contains calcium carbonate, you should
take it with meals. Calcium carbonate is also more likely to
cause constipation. Take multiple, small doses for maximum
effectiveness.
CALCIUM CITRATE:
If it contains calcium citrate, it can be taken at any time.
Suggested daily Calcium intake: (1500 mgms. of elemental
calcium) Always look for the amounts of "elemental" calcium
in supplements. Foods highest in calcium content: milk,
including buttermilk and chocolate. Calcium fortified

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
It hurt Tim to see his sister so sad. It hurt
Sharon, too. When you live by higher law the pain
of one is felt by all. Not as in empathy is it
felt, but the actual pain and sadness. Tim knew
his folks would be there, too. He knew they could
feel the pain their daughter felt at this moment.
They had directed thoughts to Maz, who had
returned the answers.
"Boolanga has not yet brought Midnight into
the village. It is best Bueno and I get back to
the village to be there when he brings her in."
Maz was letting Tim and Sharon know he and Eloise
had to leave.
"May we come with you?"
"Certainly, Tim."
With that they all stood and vanished, to
reappear in the village at Maz and Eloise's hut.
Slowly they walked toward the path where they knew
Boolanga would be returning with Midnight.
The village saw Maz and Eloise, they called
her Missy. They saw, too, Missy's brother and his
wife. This was unusual and when they saw Mazunta
walk toward one of the pathways leading to and
from the village they suddenly all knew what had
happened.
The whole village expected Midnight had
gone away to die. For two days now there was a
somber attitude around the village.
David quickly caught up to Mazunta and Eloise,
nodding his head in greeting to Tim and Sharon.
The village gathered around them.
They waited for Boolanga to appear. There was
hardly any conversation. They had to wait for
about 15 minutes.
There he was. Boolanga came around a bend in
the path, carrying Midnight in his arms. There was
loud murmuring and wailing in the group behind
David, Mazunta and Eloise.
Slowly Boolanga made his way to the awaiting
group. Upon approaching he went to Mazunta. There
he stopped. Without saying a word he moved his
arms forward, offering Midnight to Mazunta.
Mazunta took Midnight and slowly turned so all
the village could see her. All, in reverence bowed
down. The reverence was not to Mazunta but a way
of remembering this beautiful honored animal that
had graced their village for so many years.
Death, in this village, was taken very
seriously, any death. There was a prescribed order
of events that had to be followed.
A path was cleared for Mazunta and he slowly
made his way through the group. He was followed by
Boolanga, Eloise and David, the three most struck
by the loss of this friend. Then came Boolanga's
family and following them came the rest of the
village.
Tim and Sharon were last. Usually guests would
be placed first in all events in this village. The
ceremonies surrounding death, however, were
strictly upheld, for the sadness in the hearts of
the mourners was to be respected above all. Tim
and Sharon understood, of course.
Mazunta made his way gracefully toward the
long hut. It was there traditional blessings would
occur, Midnight prepared, and the elders agreeing
on the type of ceremony to be offered.
Midnight, in all respects, was treated as if
she were human. She was, after all, a very honored
guest in this village for over ten years.
Fortunate for her and for the village, she had
been thought of that way every day of that time.
Once reaching the long hut, two doors were
opened to Mazunta, allowing a wide entranceway.
The crowd of villagers stopped. They would not
enter. This was the realm of the elders and the
village leader, Mazunta.
When Maz stepped inside, the doors were again
closed. He was shown where to go.
Maz was led to an anteroom where he was asked
to place Midnight upon a platform or table, raised
about 30 inches (76 Centimeters) from the floor.
Upon this table had been placed a special
"cremation board". This was a wooden slab, not too
thick, with raised decorative edges. It was adult
size, a little large for Midnight, but it would
serve.
Upon placing Midnight on this board, Mazunta
stood back. He knew what was coming next.
The elders stretched Midnight out so she was
entirely contained with the edges of the board.
Then they placed special fats on her. These were
fats that would ignite and aid in the cremation
process. Midnight was then covered with a silken
white shroud much like a pall. There was none of
her showing, only her form under the shroud. The
shroud was attached to the underside of the
cremation board.

HA! HA! HA!
A famous scientist was on his way to yet another lecture
when his chauffeur offered an idea.
"Hey boss, I've heard yuour speech so many times, I bet I
could deliver it and give you the night off."
"Sounds great," the scientist said.
When they got to the auditorium, the scientist put on the
chauffeur's hat and settled into the back row. The chuffeur
walked to the lectern and delivered the speech. Afterward he
asked if there were any questions.
"Yes," said one professor. Then he launched into a highly
technical question.
The chauffeur was panic-stricken for a moment but quickly
recovered. "That's an easy one," he replied. "So easy, I'm
going to let my chauffeur answer it."
