Is it true the Japanese attempted to hit the US mainland

ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What president never registered to vote and didn't even vote
in his own election?
Zachary Taylor.
Is it true that the US once used bats to release bombs?
Well, the bat-bomb idea never actually was implemented, but
it WAS planned and tested. The idea was conceived by a
Pennsylvania dental surgeon named Lytle S. Adams, who had
just returned from a trip to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico,
when he heard about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
Remembering the bats he had seen at the caverns, Adams
suggested that the US military could attach bombs to bats
and drop them over the Japanese mainland. The idea was that
the bats would seek shelter in Japanese buildings and homes
and then the bombs would ignite, starting so many fires the
whole city would be ablaze.

If You Have The Faith Of A Child
A preacher was making his rounds to his parishioners on a
bicycle, when he came upon a little boy trying to sell a
lawn mower.
"How much do you want for the mower? " asked the preacher.
"I'm just trying to make enough money to buy a bicycle,"
said the little boy.
After a moment of consideration, the preacher asked, "Will
you take my bike in trade for it?"
The boy said, "You got a deal. "
The preacher took the mower and tried to crank it. He pulled
on the string a few times with no response from the mower.
The preacher called the little boy over and said, "I can't
get this mower to start."
The little boy said, "That's 'cause you have to cuss at it
to get it started. "
The preacher said, "I'm a minister, and I can't cuss. It's
been so long since I've been saved that I don't know if I
even remember how to cuss. "
The little boy looked at him happily and said, "Just keep
pulling on that string. It'll come back to ya!"
It seems our articles have many recurring themes. Yet this
one is impossible to over emphasize.
The boy "knew" the minister would once more learn to swear.
There was no doubt in his mind.
Children are like that. They function "as if" everything
will go their way. They have and manifest a faith that gets,
for them, what they want.
Somewhere along the line, as we grow up, we become
"educated". We lose that faith and replace it with doubt. We
"know" before we start that things will not work.
Yet all spiritual teachers advocate having the faith of a
child. Why?
Because when you possess that faith, that "knowing", you can
create or manifest anything you need or want. The
unquestioned "KNOWING" works on the spiritual side of the
universe that brings you the manifestations you think on.
That rock solid faith of a child will produce for you untold
blessings, and you get it by going deep inside and
establishing a relationship with your Maker.
Take the time to take this path. The blessings you will
receive are bigger than what you can achieve in any other
way.
You can have what you want ...

Question On Sunscreens And Moisturizers:
Which Comes First?
QUESTION: I would like to know, when using both a sunscreen
and a moisturizer, which one should be applied first???
Also, I would like to know which sunscreens are more
moisturizing?
ANSWER: Thank you for this interesting
question!!! The point is you want the screen "protection"
process as the last layer between you and the sun. BUT you
also don't want a lot of sun in the first place. If you
placed your sunscreen after your make-up, it would smear the
artistic design OF your make-up...so that wouldn't be nice.
That's why the beauty industry adds the sunscreen to their
products. THEY KNOW you want to protect yourself. There is
another issue here too: sun destroys and damages the skin
cells. That creates the aging process.and we all want to
stay looking fresh and youthful. so staying out of the sun
in the first place makes much more sense. If you can't avoid
the sun, get a SOLID wide brimmed hat with no possibility of
rays coming through any mesh. That might be cooling, but it
defeats the entire purpose. As far as the moisturizing is
concerned...you need to find a sunscreen WITH the "built-in"
moisturizer. They need to go hand in hand. You might do the
moisturizing, only to OPEN your cells TO the sun's UV rays,
making the cells even more vulnerable. So moisturize after
you get back inside. And don't stay out too long. But here's
the better thing to do... put your face/day moisturizer on
your face, then use a make-up with sunscreen SPF 15 at
least. Many doctors are now recommending 30 to 45 SPF. And
WEAR A HAT so your face and head doesn't get the sun
directly for any length of time. Then put the sunscreen on
your body and keep out of the sun as much as possible.
Protect yourself with clothing as well. Ironically the dark
clothing will ABSORB the UV rays thus keeping them FROM you.
Light clothing will make you feel cooler, but allows the UV
rays to penetrate and reach your body. I heard recently of
people being told to get more vitamin E through tanning
salons.that this would be a good and safe way to absorb it.
This is NOT a good way to get Vitamin E. If you are looking
for tan and colour, consider all the new products on the
market.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

She could delay no longer. There was a tap on
her shoulder. She knew she was being prompted.
Almost as if a mighty force had taken over her
body, her arm moved the torch toward the raft.
Then it caught fire.
The moment the torch was on the raft the
paddlers quickly moved the canoe away. They knew
what was going to happen.
Sure enough, there was a sudden "Whooompff" as
the fire exploded over the entire raft at once.
Midnight was entirely engulfed in flames in
that instant.
The canoe slowed until it was well out of the
heat, yet it remained behind the raft as it moved
slowly down river with the current.
The breeze was blowing across the river but
once in a while they would get a smell of smoke
and the burning flesh.
The special fats placed on the raft and upon
Midnight burned extremely hot and fast. While it
took over an hour to go upstream it took less than
20 minutes to return. In that time the raft had
burned down to almost nothing and now there was
only burning logs left. Even they had lost the
thongs that had tied them together and they were
drifting along separately, each burning where
they could.
The canoe returned to shore where it was met
by the villagers.
Sam, Alewka, Tom and Tlang, along with Billy
Hendriks were there to greet them as they came
ashore. Each, in their turn came to give all three
of the mourners a big hug. Each knew what the loss
of Midnight meant.
The villagers took each mourner in their arms
and led them to the evening fire. It had been lit
and was now waiting.
Mazunta, Eloise, Boolanga and David were all
led to the top of the circle. Each was given a
special position and care.
The Wiley children knew their Father had a
special relationship with Midnight. They were also
aware it was their Father who had brought the cat
to the village, along with Boolanga and Aunt
Missy. So they knew why he was placed at the head
of the fire circle. Pam explained all the events
of the ceremony. The kids hearts were with their
Father at this moment.
That was true of the Eloise's children and
also of Boolanga's children. The latter, though,
had much reason to be sad because Midnight had
stayed with them for over ten years. Boolanga's
children were now much older, being now in their
later teens.
Karmuz, too, Boolanga's wife, was deeply
saddened by the loss. Indeed all the village was,
yet it was recognized that Boolanga, Eloise and
David had the longest relationship with the big
cat.
Discussion around the fire was muffled and
quiet. The drums beat a slow steady cadence that
well accompanied the sad mood.
Mazunta rose. "We must learn to be happy that
we were privileged to have our Mighty Midnight
with us for so long. She taught us many lessons.
She taught us that things are not always as they
appear. She taught us that we can live with nature
and nature can live with us, that only thinking of
man makes the difference. She taught us that as we
accept nature and work with it then we are all
friends not adversaries. She brought with her
love, faith and trust. As we learned to do
likewise be became better people. She protected us
all these years and kept us safe that we might
live in peace. No greater legacy could she have
left than that. It is our responsibility to carry
on with that legacy and behave as if her spirit
continues to live with us. Let us be grateful for
this magnificent animal and for all she
represents."
There was quiet mumbling amongst the
villagers.
Slowly, almost imperceptibly the drums began
to speed up and become more lively. Food and drink
was now brought out and shared with everyone.
People began to move around.
The drums appeared to have control over the
mood. While that may not have been true, it was
true that as they became faster, they gave
permission to all who heard to be happy, more
animated.
There would be no dancing this night, but
there was to be more enthusiastic communications.
Sam came up to the top of the circle to speak with
all four of the mourners. He offered his
sympathies and then carried on with other
conversation. Soon Alewka joined him, then Tom and
Tlang. Billy came, too.
To everyone's surprise, Mae and Susan
appeared. They had known of the happenings and had
come here from China. They had been at the
orphanage with Riata.

HA! HA! HA!
A boy asks his father to explain the differences among
irritation, aggravation, and frustration. Dad picks up the
phone and dials a number at random.
When the phone is answered he asks,
"Can I speak to Roger, please?"
"No! There's no one called Roger here." The person hangs up.
"That's irritation," says Dad.
He picks up the phone again, dials the same number and asks
for Roger a second time.
"No, there's no one here called Roger. Go away. Don't call
again."
"That's aggravation," says Dad.
"Then what's 'frustration'?" asks his son.
The father picks up the phone and dials a third time:
"Hello, this is Roger. Have I received any phone calls?"
