TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

What famous Pre-Raphaelite painter and poet had his wife's
body exhumed to retrieve a manuscript?

What famous fairy tale writer was mortified when he met the
Grimm Brothers and found they had never heard of him?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Why are mustaches forbidden among the Amish people?

Amish men tend to have long beards because they don't shave
after becoming married. A beard is the mark of an adult
Amishman. (Beards are also mentioned in quite a few
scriptures in the Bible.) However, mustaches are forbidden
because of their long history of being associated with men
in the military.

What famous English romantic poet was also a doctor?

John Keats. Proves that men and women of science can be
romantic too. Unfortunately, Keats couldn't heal himself (he
actually never practiced after obtaining his apothecary
license): he died at the age of 25 from tuberculosis.

Them What Has - Gets!

Have you ever heard the saying "Them what has, gets!"? It
comes out of jolly old England from a long way back.

What it means is that it seems that riches go to those who
already have wealth.

Have you ever wondered why that is?

It is called Magnetism!

That is correct and it is one of the fundamental principles
of wealth. The plain and simple fact is money attracts
money. It has been a known principle in wealthy circles
since the dawn of time. It is practiced by all who have
money and no one can gain a foothold into becoming wealthy
until or unless they practice the principle.

It is the building of the "nest egg".

It begins with setting aside some money, knowing it will be
like a magnet, then every day begin adding to it according
to a formula.

Often it is called the 10% formula. You know, the pay
yourself first, 10%.

Too many folks have the notion they cannot afford to take
10% out of the paycheck and still have enough left to pay
the bills. That is because they don't trust the law.

When you muster the courage to take that 10% from every
paycheck and put it in a jar, or the bank, you will be very
surprised at how there really is enough money to go around.

Once you do this and the "nest egg" begins to build it is
amazing how the money begins to flow.

By the way, this is not a savings account. It is not a rainy
day account. It is not to be touched by you for any reason
at any time. It is your "magnet" account. You will have to
live out of what is left. All the cars, houses, boats, trips
and everything else, including all your daily living needs
come out of what is left of the check AFTER the 10%.

It is the principle of magnetism and it works - big time.

Funny thing about principles, they don't jump up and slap
you in the face. They are just there functioning as they
normally do waiting only for man to discover them. Whether
they be the laws of money or the higher spiritual laws they
are always there waiting to do your bidding. All you need do
is recognize them and then step out and practice.

Them What Has - Gets!

And More About Sprains and Strains
PART 2 of 2

Sprains and strains are among the most common injuries in
sports. Here are some facts about sprains and strains from the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. What is a sprain? A
sprain is a stretch and/or tear of a ligament, the fibrous band
of connective tissue that joins the end of one bone with
another. Ligaments stabilize and support the body's joints. For
example, ligaments in the knee connect the upper leg with the
lower leg, enabling people to walk and run.
What is a strain? A strain is a twist, pull and/or tear of a
muscle and/or tendon. Tendons are fibrous cords of tissue that
attach muscles to bone.
What causes sprains and strains? A sprain is caused by direct or
indirect trauma (a fall, a blow to the body, etc.) that knocks a
joint out of position, and overstretches, and, in severe cases,
ruptures the supporting ligaments. Typically, this injury occurs
when an individual lands on an outstretched arm; slides into a
base; jumps up and lands on the side of the foot; or runs on an
uneven surface. Chronic strains are the result of overuse -
prolonged, repetitive movement - of muscles and tendons.
Inadequate rest breaks during intensive training precipitates a
strain. Acute strains are caused by a direct blow to the body,
overstretching, or excessive muscle contraction.
Who gets sprains and strains? Professional and amateur athletes
and the general public, as well, can sustain this injury. People
at risk for the injury, have a history of sprains and strains,
are overweight, and are in poor physical condition. What
activities make athletes most susceptible to sprains and
strains? All sports and exercises, even walking, carry a risk of
sprains. The anatomic areas most at risk for a sprain depend on
the specific activities involved. For example, basketball,
volleyball, soccer, and other jumping sports share a risk for
foot, leg, and ankle sprains. Soccer, football, hockey, boxing,
wrestling, and other contact sports put athletes at risk for
strains. So do sports that feature quick starts (hurdling, long
jump, running races, etc.). Gymnastics, tennis, rowing,
golf-sports that require extensive gripping-have a high
incidence of hand strains. Elbow strains frequently occur in
racquet, throwing, and contact sports. What are the signs of a
SPRAIN? While the intensity varies, pain, bruising, and
inflammation are common to all three categories of sprains-mild,
moderate, severe. The individual will usually feel a tear or pop
in the joint. A severe sprain produces excruciating pain at the
moment of injury, as ligaments tear completely, or separate from
the bone. This loosening makes the joint nonfunctional. A
moderate sprain partially tears the ligament, producing joint
instability, and some swelling. A ligament is stretched in a
mild sprain, but there is no joint loosening.
What are the signs of a STRAIN? Typical indications include
pain, muscle spasm, muscle weakness, swelling, inflammation, and
cramping. In severe strains, the muscle and/or tendon is
partially or completely ruptured, often incapacitating the
individual. Some muscle function will be lost with a moderate
strain, where the muscle/tendon is overstretched and slightly
torn. With a mild strain, the muscle/tendon is stretched or
pulled, slightly. Some common strains are:
* Back strain. When the muscles that support the spine are
twisted, pulled, or torn, the result is a back strain. Athletes
who engage in excessive jumping (during basketball, volleyball,
etc.) are vulnerable to this injury.
* Hamstring muscle strain. A hamstring muscle strain is a tear
or stretch of a major muscle in the back of the thigh. The
injury can sideline a person for up to six months. The likely
cause is muscle strength imbalance between the hamstrings and
the muscles in the front of the thigh, the quadriceps. Kicking a
football, running, or leaping to make a basket can pull a
hamstring. Hamstring injuries tend to recur. How are sprains and
strains treated? Rest, ice, compression and elevation usually
will help minimize the damage. It is important in all but mild
cases for a medical doctor to evaluate the injury and establish
a treatment and rehabilitation plan. A severe sprain or strain
may require surgery or immobilization followed by months of
therapy. Mild sprains and strains may require rehabilitation
exercises and activity modification during recovery. PREVENTION
TIPS: No one is immune to sprains and strains, but here are some
tips developed by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
to help reduce your injury risk: * Participate in a conditioning
program to build muscle strength * Do stretching exercises daily
* Always wear properly fitting shoes
* Nourish your muscles by eating a well-balanced diet * Warm up
before any sports activity, including practice * Use or wear
protective equipment appropriate for that sport March 2000

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

In less time than it takes to breath in Sam
and Alewka went from the village to Miguele's and
Abetta's place in Matto Grosso, about 1000 miles
down stream from the village.

"Well! What a wonderful surprise! It's good to
see you two again. What are you up to?" Miguele
was happy to see the couple.

Abetta was excited and ran to give each of
them a hug. Sam and Alewka had never really spent
too much time here. The last time they visited was
when Romano and Oomano were married. Now they have
three children. That's a long time.

The day was hot here. When you get any
distance from the river this land gets hot and
dry. So the day was a warm one. That didn't matter
to those who live by higher law. They simply set
up their own environment and carried on with their
day. Actually that was a practice of Miguele and
Abetta, every day.

"Now that we don't have all the kids around we
thought we might stop in and visit you. We can
spend some time together, just the four of us. I
see, already, that you have let the kids stay with
Oomano. That's good. How are that bunch anyway?"
Sam was referring to the orphanage Miguele and
Abetta used to run. Oomano used to work with the
kids while Abetta prepared all the meals. Then, at
Romano's and Oomano's wedding Jesus lifted all
impediments to living by higher law for all
present. Miguele and Abetta at once crossed the
veil, as did each of the kids in their care. They
were now spread throughout the world, wherever
they wanted to go, and were working with folks
everywhere.

Miguele and Abetta stayed home and sure enough
the occasional kid walked in that needed love,
attention, care and training. Miguele and Abetta
never turned any away. Although, what they now did
was put them in the care of Oomano and Romano. So
the orphanage was moved to Oomano's and she loved
it.

"Tell me, Miguele, what is happening at the
shrine."

"All is the same, Sam. Some of the kids
stayed, are now taking in more orphans and they
are all running the shrine. They still, believe it
or not, get line ups all hours of the day. There
is still a never ending line. Mind you it no
longer is long enough to tie up traffic like it
used to. I remember when no traffic could move,
literally, for a three block radius from the
shrine. They are still receiving their miracles
and everyone walks away healthy."

"I would like to go see it again. It has been
a long time."

"We'll go Sam. They now call Riata "Saint
Riata" that is what they now name the shrine, the
Saint Riata Shrine. None of the visitors, yet,
have seen the truth of the law. They believe that
the good that comes to them comes from the shrine,
the place where the holy lady was shot and killed,
then rose into heaven before their eyes."

"It is the way of man, Miguele, the way
of man. He must always have a source outside
himself to lean on rather than learn to take
responsibility for his own life."

"I know, Sam. It bothers me sometimes, yet I
know what is going on. Hey, that was some wedding
you and Alewka threw for Tim and Sharon. I was
glad we were able to attend. It was fun, seeing
all those old friends again. Even Sien we haven't
seen for a long while."

"The same is true of us, Miguele. We haven't
seen him for a while yet either, other than the
wedding. Alewka and I thought we might spend a
couple days here with you, if that's all right,
and then we were going to go over to visit him.
Mae and Susan were there, at his place. It is
apparently hidden from the public, deep inside a
huge rock formation. Mae and Susan said it was
dark and cool, but there were many rooms, all well
carved out of the rock. There are, it seems, many
living there who are practitioners of the law. Mae
and Susan say that most of them practice in the
spiritual plain where they broadcast love unto
man. Their mission is to send good unto man,
especially those who listen to the law and
practice. Those who give good unto their fellow
man shall receive good. That is not only the law
but that is what these Masters reward. Alewka and
I thought we might like to visit there. Maybe you
would like to come along?"

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Cad. Why do we call a vulgar person a "cad"?

Because a page boy was once called a "cadet". For this
reason the public school boys of England called a person who
waited on them a "cadet" which they shortened to "cad".
Since these "cads" were less educated than the schoolboys,
they were presumed to be vulgar persons devoid of the finer
instincts. So, in time, any person who possessed these
attributes was called a "cad".

Tomorrow: D-Day. What's the origin of the term "D-Day"?

HA! HA! HA!

A baby rabbit was orphaned. Fortunately, a family of
squirrels took him in and raised him as if he were one of
their own. As the rabbit grew he acted more like a squirrel
than a rabbit, running around like the other squirrels
instead of hopping like a rabbit.

As he got older, however, the rabbit faced an identity
crisis, so he went to his squirrel parents to discuss the
problem. He confessed how he increasingly felt different
from his squirrel siblings and wanted more and more to act
like a rabbit.

And do you know what his wise squirrel parents told him?

"Don't scurry, be hoppy."
