What is a gaffer?
In circus lingo, a "gaffer" is a circus manager. The word is
also used to refer to an electrician in charge of lighting
on a movie or television set, a boss or foreman, or an old
man.
Is there a difference between freezing rain and sleet?
Technically, there IS a difference. Freezing rain is rain
that freezes when it hits the ground, creating a dangerous
coating of ice on road surfaces and sidewalks. It occurs
when temperatures above the ground are warm enough for rain
to form, but surface temperatures are below 32 degrees
Fahrenheit (below freezing). Sleet is rain that turns to ice
pellets BEFORE hitting the ground. Sleet usually bounces
when it hits a surface and does not stick to objects.
However, it can accumulate like snow. Practically speaking,
of course, there is no difference. Both cause roads and
walkways to be slippery and hazardous.

Iran 'will not halt enrichment'
Iran has said it will not suspend uranium enrichment, a key
demand of an international proposal aimed at resolving the
nuclear programme row.
It comes two days before Iran was due to respond to a
proposal by Russia, China, France, Britain, Germany and the
US aimed at resolving the nuclear row.
Iran's foreign ministry said a final decision would be based
on negotiations.
But he warned that a halt to uranium enrichment was "not on
the agenda".
Enrichment halt 'illogical'
Foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said suspending
enrichment - a key step in the nuclear fuel making process -
would be a return to the past.
His comments come a few days after Iran's foreign minister,
Manouchehr Mottaki, said the country was ready to discuss
the issue, but would explain in any talks that a halt to
enrichment would be "illogical".
The international proposal to Iran calls for a suspension of
uranium enrichment in return for the partial lifting of
economic sanctions and assistance with nuclear technology.
Mr Asefi said Iran's response - expected by Tuesday - would
be "multi-faceted", though he did not elaborate.

In July, the United Nations Security Council passed a
resolution calling on Iran to suspend enrichment by 31
August or face unspecified economic and diplomatic
sanctions.
Iran has said that it would respond to any possible
sanctions with a painful response - which may involve a cut
in its oil production.
Missile tests
On Saturday, Iran launched a series of major military
exercises, with 10 short-range surface-to-surface missiles
being launched in a test on Sunday.
According to Iranian state television, the tests included a
launch of a Saegheh (Lightning) missile, which reportedly
has a range of 80 to 250 kilometres (50 to 155 miles).
The missile is not thought to be capable of carrying a
nuclear warhead, news agency AP reported.
The Iranian military has said its wargames are a reaction to
what it sees as a heightening of tension in the Middle East.
A military training plane caught fire and crashed after
trying to make an emergency landing on a highway outside of
Tehran. The pilot managed to eject safely.

A Few Thoughts To Share On Hormones
And Their Actions

Cushing's syndrome is a disease diagnosed by increased
production of cortisol or by excessive use of cortisol.
If you recall, the role of the pituitary gland (in the
brain) is to regulate glands and other functions. In
this case, it is allowing excessive secreting of the
adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) (growth). This
hormone, normally released during stressful situations,
controls the body's use of carbohydrates, fats, and
proteins. When ACTH is secreted by the pituitary
gland, the adrenal glands release cortisol. Now you
have too much cortisol. This can lead to all sorts of
complications such as hypertension, diabetes,
infections, kidney stones, etc. They all relate to the
areas that they control with their hormone secretion.
Addison's disease is a hormone deficiency caused by
damage to the outer layer of the adrenal gland (adrenal
cortex). The problem in this situation is that if a
person gets into a stressful situation, they have few
normal resources available to provide fight/ flight
responses. So stress has to be kept to a minimum. And
how easy is that to do?
Pancreas: again I want to make sure this information is
used only for interest. I'll try to make this simple
although it is enormously complex. The pancreas and its
elements are very complicated. All I am doing here is
creating an overview. Because of the very actions of
these hormones, you must not try to diagnose or treat
yourself. However you have a chance to understand the
reason behind diabetes and you can choose to do
something about it. Be aware of the close spelling of
glycogen, glucose and glucagon. Glucose is a "simple"
sugar. Glycogen is another sugar. (It is derived from
glucose.) Glucagon is a hormone. The pancreas is a
large longish gland that sits a little behind your
stomach, but also around the top of it. The Islets of
Langerhans produce two hormones: insulin and glucagon.
They are needed to metabolize glycogen into glucose
within the body to provide fuel for life. While the
pancreas is also part of this hormone-secreting system,
it is also associated with the digestive system because
it also produces and secretes digestive enzymes.

So how do you like it - the cover story? Are you like me -
suspicious these people (Iran) have other motives in mind?
You see how innocent it is? Because of all the trouble in
the middle east and because of the trouble the US has
already had with Iran we are suspicious that Iran has other
things in mind besides the actual production of material for
power plants.
Who is to say who is right or wrong? But one thing is sure -
all negotiations - ALL - will be conducted by all sides from
the platform of not trusting each other. Tell me what kind
of agreement/relationships can be based on suspicion,
deceit, lack of trust. Are not all parties, in one form or
another, trying to get one up on the other?
Then how can mankind ever have peace? Each such
agreement/negotiation leads only to others that are founded
on even greater lack of trust.
The first sentence of this writing suggests we are
suspicious of Iran. Most of us don't even give a thought to
the idea the Iranians are equally suspicious of us and with
good reason. In all your thinking on this matter step aside
from the notion that you are right and they are wrong. In
this instance both parties are wrong and both parties are
right and you, my friend, are a part of it, not an innocent
onlooker.
It becomes quite clear that when people have agendas, they
don't have peace in their hearts. Then, the replacement is
both greed and fear. That is the basis upon which man
governs his universe. That is the basis for all wars,
killing, maiming, terrorism and all things present in man's
world. If you want all those kinds of things then all you
have to do is buy into man's way of doing things. It is
simple, easy and man has seen to it you are well trained to
do so.
Only the strong, independent thinkers have a chance at
peace. Only those who are prepared to look honestly at all
sides of a situation have a chance at peace. Only those who
are prepared to stand alone will have a chance at their
Maker's peace and prosperity. Is that you?
Peace and prosperity can be yours right where you are if
that ever becomes a desire. That is what the story The Saga
