Cornpone and Treewood
by Ken Darby
Cornpone Taggart and Hamstrung Treewood are a
couple country hicks. Cornpone, known as "Pone" or
"Old Pone" earns his living on the internet, and has
since he left what schooling he had. He's a lazy cuss,
and figured the internet was the way to earn the kind
of living he wanted. He thought it beat the backbreaking
sweat soaking work that was the kind you could
get in his town.
Hamstrung Treewood, didn't pay much attention to
computers in school and went out to work in the
backbreaking world in town. He had been without
work for a while and Pone was teaching him how to
set up a business on the internet.
The story continues.

"So's yous is jus' asittin' there under yer tree lookin' fer
all the world as if yous is a hillbilly from de ozarks,
there Pone. All's yous needs is yer corncob pipe."
laughed Hamstrung Treewood as he walked up to
his friend Cornpone Taggart, still leaning on his
tree in the town common.
"Oh, hi Strung. Hows yous t'day?" asked Pone.
"I's great an' agettin' greater Pone. I's gots me three
sales t'day." said Strung.
"Tha's good Strung. Now if a guy could do ten times
that much, ever day that'd be good, huh?" asked Pone.
"Boy, wouldn't it Pone? I'll say." said Strung.
"Well in a kindofaway tha's wha' I's agonna talk ta
yous 'bout t'day. Yous sees, we was a talkin' 'bout
yer writin'. I's athinkin' its good enough ta send out
ta all sorts o' other newsletters. If'n yous does tha'
then a lot more folk is agonna see yer name, yer
writin' and yer website address." said Pone.
"Now tha' soun's good Pone, how?" asked
Strung, back.
"Well all yous has gots ta do is git yerself a bunch
o' email addresses fer other newsletters an' then
send them yer articles. Some will publish them
an' some will not. Some will publish 'em here
an' some there. It's a good way ta git ta be known
Strung. I's asuggestin' yous do it." said Pone.
"Gee tha' souns good Pone. Do yous thinks they'll
accept them?" asked Strung.
"Sure they will Strung. And them what's don'
wan' em will ask to unsubscribe from yer list.
Have yous gots any names?" asked Pone.
"Naw! I's ain' bin athinkin' this way,
Pone." answered Strung.
"Well yous do gots lots o' names Strung. I's tol'
yous ta go git yerself a membership in tha' there
Cornerstone thing. Did yous do it?" asked Pone.
"Sure Pone. I's done it when yous tol' me
to." said Strung.
"Well, Strung, if'n yous looks in there yous is
agonna find yerself a list of over five hunert ezines
ta send yer material to. Ain't yous bin ausin' tha'
stuff?" asked Pone.
"Sure, Pone. I's jus' never seen myself as no writer
an' so I's jus' skipped over tha' part. I guess,
anyway." said Strung.
"Well yous gits yerself back ta the Cornerstone
an' has yerself another look see. They's done all s
ortsa stuff. An' you gots all the tolls yous needs ta
do what we here's bin atalkin' 'bout." said Pone.
"I's agonna go home righ' now an' sees
Pone." said Strung, and he was off.

Stop Losing Your STUFF
One of the biggest problems facing new computer
users is losing their stuff.
Create new folders in the My Documents folder. Name them
whatever you want. "My Letters." Or how about "My Downloads"
or "MyPictures."
Want to access something at any time? Just open My Documents,
and there are all of your folders, labeled and ready for service.
If you download music, there's already a folder named "My
Music." Create new folders inside, to organize yourself.
Now, to create new folders. Open My Documents and
look at the Menu line ... you should see the word "File." Click
File, point to New with our cursor, and click Folder. It'll
be right at the top.
You'll see a new folder appear, with its name area all dark,
ready for you to start typing. Type a name ... spaces are fine,
and the name can real long if you want. The
limit is right at 254 characters...
Once done, click off the folder, and the name is set. And
you're done. Now you can store your stuff there whenever
you're ready.

Reclaiming Your Power.
A Powerful De-Stressor!

Then if they are motivated to change, they will rapidly find
many other means to reclaim their own power. It may only
take changing their thoughts, but they then choose those
thoughts with consciousness. I find many, many people
aren't aware they can make choices. This is a real eye-opener
for me. I thought I was the only one J ! But this is the start
of personal growth. So when I suggest to people they
are giving away power and control to a stranger, they
often are completely amazed. And no, they wouldn't
choose to do this. Most of us are born with wonderful
and forgiving bodies. As you know, you can do lots of
less-than-good things to it and it still there for you, holding
you together: getting you places. I am working with a gal
who has decided that her degenerative condition cannot
be healed. She is stuck with the illness. In essence, she
has given her illness all her power where in fact she
could easily choose to control her illness or possibly
even reverse the symptoms. If she chose to, she could
ask herself "how can it be better" instead of "it can't be
done" Then she could face her daily activities with hope
and anticipation of better things to come, of feeling more
energy, and looking forward to a better social life. In the
end, the more power you reclaim or retain, the more you
learn and experience, the more confident you become.
Then as you face more situations, you feel comfortable
and relaxed. So for goodness sake, don't avoid the
"lessons" you are meant to learn! One of the "by-products"
of doing this exercise is that you begin to know yourself.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"You have poor clothes, no shoes. There are no facilities here
for cleaning yourselves. You don't go out and enjoy yourselves.
Your life is so limited." said Maria.
"You see with the eyes of a stiff necked adult, Maria. I can wear
anything I want, and be a dressed up as anyone you can name.
That is not difficult. But working here in the heat of the day is hot
work. Why would I want to be all gussied up in the finery of which
you speak?" Reno answered.
"But personal cleanliness, that is important." Maria said.
"Of course it is. Everyone here knows that. The more advanced
among us take care of that for all of us. We have no cleanliness
problems. As you look, do you see dirt all over me? In fact, am I
not cleaner than yourself?" asked Reno.
Maria had not really looked. She had been making a lot of
assumptions on that point, for she was losing the argument. This
child had far more debating skills than she. She did have a good,
close look and Reno was right.
"All these things you kids do and no one on the outside even
knows." said Maria.
"They do not want to know. So long as the shrine is there and so
long as the never ending food and drink is there that is all they
want to know. Even the trouble that brought you here should tell
you that. The church was only after the money we take in at the
shrine. That is why they kidnapped us. They wanted then to come
in here as benevolent saviours and help us 'negotiate' the release
of the kidnapped kids. They did not think we knew where we were,
or that we could get out. Riata came and got us out. She did nothing
more than that. The rest of the story was told by the kidnappers to
a hungry press. The rest you know. The church shall suffer dearly
and long. They have betrayed the trust of the people. It may even
have to close it's doors. They have acted this way for a long time.
The law is now exacting the penalty the church pronounced
upon itself." said Reno.
"My you know a lot for a thirteen year old girl. I have never met
anyone who knows as much as you, not even adults. Everyone
has their own agenda. You have none. You seek nothing from
me or for me. You accept me as I am and require no changes of
me. In fact, I feel that from this whole orphanage. How is it we get
so far off track?" asked Maria.
"As a youth you had this knowledge. Then you began to follow
others who said schooling, education and money is the way. You
listened to the outside world rather than follow what you were
being told inside. We all do it. I did too. I was an orphaned street
kid before I came here. Riata taught us how to listen to the words
from inside and how to follow them. Now we have all we want
and need." said Reno.
"You make it sound so simple!" exclaimed Maria.
"It is Maria. That is why men do not believe. They cannot see
past the simple. The think there is a complex explanation for
everything. If they cannot see it, feel it, hear it, then man says
it does not exist. They can live as they chose. Even though we
have knowledge we cannot force man, nor create conditions
where he will see. Each man must come on his own, make up
his own mind. We shall do nothing to influence that. That is why
I am not telling you anything, or making suggestions. You must
chose, by yourself. All I am doing is answering all the questions
that reporter mind of yours keeps coming up with." she laughed.
"Reno, you and the kids are wonderful. Do you mind if I
interview your neighbors about you? You must have impacted
their lives." asked Maria.
"Certainly not. Ask them what you wish, and print what you
wish of what they say. All we ask of you is that if you print what
we say, then do not put a spin on it. Print it like it was said. It
is for the public to judge. Not for you to judge, then tell the public
how to judge. Each man has a mind of his own. You need not
tell him which way to go." said Reno.
"That just about answers my next question. I was going to
ask you if I could print the story of the miracle release the kids
had from the church at the hands of the woman the church
commissioned killed?" said Maria.
"What value would that be to anyone except yourself and
your paper. Is that not putting a spin on the facts to sell papers,
and advertising? There was no miracle. There is no need to
repeat who shot Riata, or why. The concept you just
mentioned is self serving and not for the good of the people.
You may be rewarded money by the paper, but doing damage
to yourself, for self serving actions, by law, usually produce
negative results in one's life. You are, of course, at liberty to
do as you wish. However, know that we do not favor self
serving journalism." answered Reno.
