According to Bryan Owens, president of the
Owens Group, which owns Unclaimed Baggage Center,
about five of every thousand bags are mishandled.
That's not TOO excessive when you consider the two
BILLION bags checked each year. About .005 of that
missing luggage goes unclaimed.
How did April Fools' Day begin?
In France in the sixteenth century, the start of a new
year was celebrated on April 1 after a week of celebrations
in late March. In 1582, however, Pope Gregory introduced
a new calendar for Christians and the date of the new year
then fell on January 1. Some people never heard the news,
or didn't believe it, or didn't care -- and continued to celebrate
New Year's in April. Others called them "April fools" and
played tricks on them, such as inviting them to non-existent
functions, sending them on false errands, or giving them
false news. Practical jokes, of course, are still played on
April Fools' Day and can be very elaborate. Sometimes
the news media likes to participate. A British short film once
shown on April Fools' Day was a "documentary" about
"spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from
the spaghetti trees. (Anyone in the US remember this?
It played here also.)

Know When To Use Alternatives!

With the average cost for a Nursing Home per day reaching
$188.00, there is a better way when we get old and feeble.
I have ascertained that I can get a nice room at the Holiday
Inn for around $65.00...that leaves $123.00 a day for food
(room service), laundry, gratuities and special TV movies.
They have a swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge,
washer, dryer, etc. Most have free toothpaste and razors,
and all have free shampoo and soap.
Super 8 is somewhat more economical and they have a
free breakfast, though you usually have to walk next door
for lunch and dinner. There may be a bit of a wait to get that
first floor room, but that's OK, it takes months to get into
decent nursing homes.
There is the Senior Bus, the Handicap bus (if you fake a
decent limp), a Church bus or van, cabs, and even a
regular bus. For a change of lunch take the Airport Bus
and eat at one of the fast food cafe's there.
The Inn has security, and if someone sees you drop over,
they will call an ambulance. And should you break a hip,
the American Way is to Sue. What more can you ask for?
As a bonus, they all have AARP and other Senior discounts.
So: When I reach the Golden age, help me keep my grin.
Just check me into the nearest Holiday Inn!
While this might be a cute alternative to a nursing home,
and I'm sure, with a little aggressive research this might
make sense, the story does point out there are times when
selecting an alternative is a good idea.
However, I caution you to think clearly on the alternatives
you select and why. But most importantly I caution you to
think hard on where you would select them.
Let's discuss that a bit. If you have decided you want a
certain income level, and have made that your goal, I
recommend no alternative be entertained, ever, until you
have attained that goal. However, if you see an alternative
job, or education, or business opportunity that proves you
can get to that level, then it might be considered as an
alternate route.
If, though, you have decided you are going to take a certain
product or service and accomplish a certain goal, then
you have selected a route from which you will consider
no alternative.
Where you might sell this product or service, though, is
another matter. You may run across thousands of different
ways to sell it, price it, deliver it, tell your public about it. I
hope you do, for the more you search out the alternatives
here then the sooner you will reach your goal.
The point is there are some goals in life that will bear no
alternative thinking. You must commit and tolerate no
thinking to the contrary.
Yet, the steps you use to accomplish that goal may vary
and present you with a host of alternatives each of which
is worthy of your attention.
Too many confuse the goal with the means. Be clear
about that.

Bindings (Word)
If you intend to bind a document, you need to make
room for the binding.
Choose File, Page Setup.
On the Margins tab, click the up arrow beside the
Gutter box. As you do so, watch the Preview box to see
how the binding eats into your document.
If yours is a two-sided document with text printed on
both sides of the paper, choose Mirror Margins in the
Multiple Pages drop-down list.
Now that you can see how big the gutter is in the
dialog box, adjust the Left or Inside Margin setting.
In a document in which text is printed on both sides of
the paper, the inside margin is the one closest to the
binding.
Click OK.

Reclaiming Your Power.
A Powerful De-Stressor!

What does that actually mean? In your contemplation, you
come up with thoughts and ideas and things YOU want to
do, and if you go home and ask your spouse if they too
would like to do those things, chances are they would not.
So is it wrong to want something your spouse doesn't want
to do? NO! You are not your spouse, and here's an
important point. Your spouse should also have the chance
to do this exercise alone! And don't be afraid they will find
things they want to do without you. It's normal and it could
be the start of another human being reclaiming their power.
That's a very worthy thing. If we return to the beginning
of this message you will recall my son's less than healthy
reaction to a series of traffic incidents. You may ask how
did I reacted, by being in the passenger seat. Except for
discovering that the brakes on the passenger side don't
work at all, I felt fine. I had made an irrevocable,
non-negotiable decision never to give away my power
consciously! I knew my life wasn't in any danger as he
is an excellent driver. So I was relaxed and an interested
bystander... and somewhat amused. Now that you are
aware of power and it's power, prepare to be in control. It
won't be an easy or quick journey. People don't really
want you to have a say in what goes on: it upsets the
status quo. But if you do "go for it', you will find peace
and a new confident personality. If this kind of journey of
discovery interests you at all,, why not plan to do this
exercise regularly. Set aside weekly, or bi-weekly, or
even monthly meetings with your self. Once you become
proactive, you will see many people step out of your
path. The stress is reduced and your life takes on
purpose and direction. In the past, I have mentioned
the free article, "Power Pause" by John Harricharan. It
has transformed many lives.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

"I know. That is why you kicked the group of journalists
out, isn't it? They were not here to tell your story. They
were here to tell their story about you, regardless of the
spin they put on it, or who they damaged in the process.
I am sorry for asking. I get that reporter urge from within,
sometimes. I have long practiced the process and now
it just comes natural. If I chose to live by higher law I
would have a lot of work to do wouldn't I?" said Maria.
"Not really. Most people think they must work on breaking
old habits. That is the wrong way to go about it. Concentrate
instead, on the creating of new habits. That way everything
is progressive, positive and growing. Sure the old habits
will get in the way once in a while. But less so as you
concentrate on creating the new you." responded Reno.
"You make everything sound so simple. What you are
telling me here is that all I have to do is believe, and I
will be able to have, do and be anything I
want?" remarked Maria.
"That is exactly what I am saying, Maria. The sooner
you come to understand and believe that, the sooner
you shall become a master. Go inside and seek the
kingdom of your Maker. There you will be rewarded
with a whole new life. Make that your single most
important goal, leaving all others to be secondary, and
you shall attain." promised Reno.
Maria's head was spinning. Here she had just been told
how to have everything in life she ever wanted. She
relaxed a little and daydreamed a bit. She found that all
signs of stress left, she felt comfortable. She saw herself
having all the food, clothing, shelter she needed and
saw no need to perform work like she has these many
years. The truth was beginning to seep into her soul
from the outside and the soul, from within, was saying
"Yes Maria. This is correct. I have been waiting for you.
Please, come, let's talk, you and I."
With that Maria jumped in a slight start. It shocked her.
She thought she had been talking to herself. She had
to think of where that little voice had come from.
"Don't worry Maria. The voice was right. That is your
Maker speaking to you from inside. Follow what you
are told. All will be well." said Reno.
"You know what was happening to me?" asked Maria.
"I witnessed what was happening. I heard." answered Reno.
"Oooh! Reno, I best leave. I have a great deal to think
about. This is scary. I will come back, tomorrow
maybe?" asked Maria.
"You are welcome here whenever you wish,
Maria." was Reno's answer.
Maria rose to leave. She was the same woman in body
but somehow she was in a daze. The things that had
been so solid to her when she came in here, were no
longer so. The things she had never expected to encounter,
namely herself, she did. What was real to her before,
wasn't. Her mind was changing. It had to look at things
it had long since put away as childish. She had a fight
going on within herself.
Maria had come to love this little thirteen year old. Reno
was like that. She emanated love to all who came close
to her. She was captivating, wanting only to give, requiring
nothing from you. Maria had not ever met up with anyone
like that. This child knew so much. Maria envied her, and
wanted to be near her.
Maria's mind was cloudy as she left the orphanage that
day. She walked home, sat down and did nothing else
the rest of the day. All she did was think on the things she
and Reno had spoken of.
Maria stayed at home for two days, thinking. Slowly she
was coming back to her regular self. She had to get out.
She had to see the sunshine, get some fresh air. She
had to go to work. She could not stay home like this. She
had responsibilities to the newspaper.
And so she did. The first thing Maria did that day was to
go to the business neighbors of the orphanage. It took her
a long time to get there, because of the crowds, but
eventually she had spoken to eight of the business that
were beside the orphanage.
She found that all were incredibly happy. Their sales, in
each case had multiplied an hundredfold. They had all
brought in souvenirs and things that visitors to the shrine
would want. Some had changed their businesses around
completely.
She finally found one who was willing to spend time with her.

Little Johnny 's next door neighbors had a baby. Unfortunately,
the little baby was born with no ears.
When they arrived home from the hospital, the parents invited
Little Johnny's family to come over and see their new baby.
Little Johnny's parents were very afraid that their son would
have a wise crack to say about the baby so the dad had a long
talk with little Johnny before going to the neighbors.
He said "Now, son... that poor baby was born without any ears.
I want you to be on your best behavior and not say one word
about his ears or I am really going to spank you when we get
back home."
"I promise not to mention his ears at all" said Little Johnny.
At the neighbors home, Little Johnny leaned over in the crib
and touched the baby's hand He looked at it's mother and said
"Oh What a Beautiful little baby". The mother said "Thank you
very much, Little Johnny."
He then said, "this baby has perfect little hands and perfect
little feet. Why... just look at his pretty little eyes.... Did
his doctor say that he can see good?"
The Mother said "why, yes Johnny... his doctor said he has
20/20 vision.
Little Johnny said "well, its a darn good thing, cause he sure
couldn't wear glasses!!!
