ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What are the "four C's" you should pay attention to when
choosing a diamond?
Cut, Clarity, Color, and Carat determine the quality and value
of a diamond. Popular cuts include pear shape, oval, emerald,
brilliant, and heart shape. Clarity refers to the absence of flaws
or blemishes. Color can range from "colorless" to "near colorless"
to having a slight yellow tint. Carat refers to the weight of the
diamond.
Is it true that Mel Blanc, who did the voice of Bugs Bunny,
was allergic to carrots?
Yes. Mel Blanc was, in fact, severely allergic to them. Nevertheless,
crunching into a carrot sounds different than crunching into an
apple or other fruit or vegetable. So Blanc would bite into carrots
when he needed to and spit them right out. Blanc, called "The Man
of 1,000 Voices," actually did the voices of many of the Warner
Brothers "Looney Toons" cartoon crowd. The epitaph on his
headstone reads, "That's all, folks!"

Cornpone and Treewood
by Ken Darby
Cornpone Taggart and Hamstrung Treewood are a
couple country hicks. Cornpone, known as "Pone" or
"Old Pone" earns his living on the internet, and has
since he left what schooling he had. He's a lazy cuss,
and figured the internet was the way to earn the kind
of living he wanted. He thought it beat the backbreaking
sweat soaking work that was the kind you could
get in his town.
Hamstrung Treewood, didn't pay much attention to
computers in school and went out to work in the
backbreaking world in town. He had been without
work for a while and Pone was teaching him how to
set up a business on the internet.
The story continues.
----------------------------------------
"Howdy, Strung!" said Cornpone Taggart. He was
addressing his buddy, Hamstrung Treewood.
"Howdy Pone, hows yous adoin'." asked Strung.
"I's good Strung, sit yerself down here a minute, an'
le's talk some." said Pone.
He went on, "Has yous gots yer writin' goin' out to
all them ezines yet?"
"I's sure does Pone. I's gots a bunch back though. I's
aguessin' theys a lot o' ezines tha't no longer publish.
I's aguessin' lots o' folks git tired o' doin' it."
answered Strung.
"I's aguessin' yous is right, Strung, but don' worry 'bout
that. Theys still a bunch that gits yer stuff. Just delete
them addresses that bounce an yous'll be okay." said
Pone, "I wants ta talk ta yous 'bout yer list. Yous sees, I
was a talkin' ta another friend o' mine taday. We's gots ta
talkin' 'bout building our lists. He went and done reminded
me o' how 'mpotant that is. It's the only way yous an' I's
agonna do any bizness on the net, Strung. How's yer list
buildin' ahappenin'?" asked Pone.
"Oh I's still aworkin' on it Pone. Is there anything other than
them ad co-ops yous is a thinkin' 'bout?" asked Strung.
"No Strung, I's jus' wants ta remind yous. If'n yous is a writin'
fer other ezines, it might take a while, but yous is agonna see
yer list start ta build. Tha's good." said Pone.
"It's atakin' me some time there Pone, but I's astartin' ta
see how this here innynet thing works, a little. I's glad I's
astarted it, an' soon's I's makes some money I's agonna

"Tha's good Strung. I's glad things is agoin' right fer
yous." said Pone.
"Pone, I's agots ta be on my way. I's agonna see yous nex'
week." said Strung as he stood to leave.
"Okay, Strung, have a good'un." answered Pone.
(See yous nex' week folks.)

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
PART 6 of 8
Lightheadedness/Dizzy/Eyesight
QUESTION: I HAVE BEEN FEELING LIGHTHEADED/DIZZY
FOR THE LAST MONTH,AND MY HEAD FEELS CLOUDY
ALL THE TIME LIKE ITS FULL OF FOG.... SOME DIFFICULTY
REMEMBERING THINGS.SOMETIMES WHEN I GET OUT
OF BED I HAVE TO WAIL A BIT TO STOP THE DIZZYNESS.
I AM 32 FEMALE AND HAVE NO OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS
AND TAKE NO MEDS.... THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
ANSWER: This is a very frequent question to our website and
I send out a list of items that I call "possible triggers". In the
eighteen months we have been online, we have found many
commonalties in symptoms which people describe. Our site
has to do with Meniere's symptoms. They all occur in the
head, BUT I hasten to add they are not psychological symptoms!
These are very real physical complaints in that part of the
body. So any nerves, which are there and are somehow
irritated by something, could well react in their "designed"
responses. By that I mean, the balance nerve in the inner
ear would give off balance symptoms if faced with unusual
conditions.
Lightheadedness and dizziness would have to do with the
balance nerve, as would nausea. Or the optic nerve in the
eye would give off "optical" signs and symptoms, such as
flickering or blurring, etc. So something is irritating the balance
nerve in the inner ear. The next step would be to figure out
what it could be. In our time online, this is one of the major
complaints, and when you start listening to people describe
their lifestyle or environment, you often find the key to the
problem. Then the challenge is to decide if you can eliminate
the "trigger" or have to learn to live with it. (Again the
JAMA information could apply here.) A very important point
to note here is the fact it has only happened in the last month... a
good sign. So I get people to go back in their minds and find
out what happened before that. Chances are they had some
sort of exposure to a procedure (dental work: root canals, or
cleaning, etc.) that caused the defense mechanism of the body
to start up the inflammatory process. But not always. Sometimes
things like noxious fumes, or diet pop or artificial sweeteners
could have build up to a saturation level in the body and it can't
handle any more. Then the symptoms start. Again, they would
reflect the area most affected.
Another note of importance is the fact this person woke up
with the symptoms. So the possible trigger might be in their
immediate environment. We have people who are allergic to
their pillows! It's detective work and very worthwhile doing,
either by yourself or with someone else. And remember if
you take something to relieve the symptoms, chances are
you are adding to the problem with more chemicals.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------
Mazunta, too, did not want to be away from Eloise. He
not only enjoyed her company, but somehow she had
managed to be a part of him. He thought of her constantly,
and considered her in everything he did, though he may
not consult her in everything.
He certainly did consult her, though, in all things that had
an affect on her, and in all things where his leadership
could use not only another point of view, but a feminine
point of view. In those ways Mazunta was wise.
The day dawned bright and sunny. It would be a good day
to start a trading trip.
Mazunta, as a man, looked forward to the adventure, while,
at the same time, being sorry to leave. Such is the world
of men. They will tear off almost excited at the new things
they will be doing, yet in their hearts at the same time they
don't want to leave those they love. It is a strange condition
men must learn to live with.
The canoes were packed and ready. For such an occasion
the village selected the two canoes carved by David. There
would be four canoes on the trip, but the two carved by David
would be out front. They were becoming a symbol of this
village, these two canoes. Wherever they went they attracted
attention. As they passed villages along the way, villagers
would all come to the river bank to see the canoes.
It made Mazunta and the villagers proud to have such canoes.
For the time, they were the only ones on the river like them.
David's mastery and craftsmanship would be almost impossible
to duplicate by any of the villages along the river. This gave
the village a leadership role among villages.
The journey was to replace cloth used for village clothing
and ceremonial functions. They could also use some new
knives and other materials for village use. Although Mazunta,
Eloise, Boolanga, and David could have caused these
materials to occur, they did not, for the villagers would then
soon become useless and dependent. It was necessary for
the health of the village they continue to do some things as
they always had.
Mazunta hugged and kissed Eloise. "Good bye Bueno. I
shall be back in about three weeks. I will come to you each
evening, and I am always available to your call. Take care of
yourself and the baby. Call if you need me. I love you." With a
lover's kiss, he was off to the canoes.
Eloise kissed him back, then watched him leave. She had a
tear in her eye. She was not concerned for his safety, nor he
for hers. They both knew that each would be completely safe,
for such was the knowing that came with higher law. They
would just miss one another's closeness.
The villagers had many carvings stored up from the rainy
season. They were well ready for the journey. The canoes
were full of carvings, grass mats the ladies had woven,
basket ware, and some ceremonial dresses the ladies had
done up for this purpose of trading.
The canoes shoved off to the sounds of the villager's good
byes. The river current picked them up immediately and they
were well out and away in mere minutes. The current at the
end of the rainy season was swift. The journey to the trading town
would take a very short time, a week, maybe less. The return
journey, though, the men would have to work very hard
against the current for nearly double the time, maybe more.
Even with heavily laden canoes travel was fast. The
paddlers had nearly no work to do, and when they did
paddle they only went the faster.
The men liked these journeys. It gave them a chance to
bond, enjoy one another, and tell tall tales, as men are
wont to do.
The journey this day went faster than normal and they
ended up staying the night at the third rest stop. Usually
they stopped at every second one. There was another
group of villagers there. They had already been to the
trading town and had unloaded their wares into a huge pile.
They had four canoes and even Mazunta found it hard to
believe they could put all that in four canoes.
The group was friendly, though wary. Most river folk trusted
one another, but it was always wise to be sure, first.
Mazunta's canoe took much attention, as did the one with
Midnight carved on the front.
The first group looked, and talked, asked questions and
looked some more. It is clear they were more than impressed.
They had heard about the canoes, as had all folk up and
down the river, but this is the first time any of them had seen
them, and at that, close up. They would have much to tell
when they got home.
