Anti-Spam Plan Flounders

"Make Love Not Spam," Lycos Europe's new anti-spam
initiative that officially launched earlier this week, appeared
to have broken down by Thursday. Web visitors to the site
on Thursday afternoon were met with a psychedelic-style
graphic of the phrase "Make Love Not Spam," and the
directive to "Stay tuned." By Thursday night, even that
graphic was gone, and attempts to load the page on
deadline were met with a message that the Web site
was not responding.
Before its abrupt cessation, the anti-spam plan wreaked
havoc on three sites--bokwhdok.com and
printmediaprofits.biz and rxmedherbals.info--according
to the Web analytics firm Netcraft.
The "Make Love Not Spam" initiative worked by inviting
consumers to download a screensaver containing
software that attacked alleged spammers' Web sites,
ultimately decreasing their bandwidth. Lycos Europe
representatives earlier said that Web sites would only
be attacked if they were on a blacklist that had been
manually vetted.
While the program's life was short--at least so far--the
tactic caused a huge stir among marketers and industry
observers. Some condemned the plan as verging on
illegal for coming too close to crashing other companies'
Web sites--considered unlawful denial of service attacks.
Critics also charged that the software could end up
targeting innocent marketers.
Lycos Europe did not respond to requests for
comment Thursday, but a company spokesperson
told MediaDailyNews earlier this week that the plan
would not constitute a denial of service attack because
the software merely sent enough traffic to a Web site
to bog it down, as opposed to causing it to cease
altogether.

A cream turns face dark
QUESTION: I would like your help. About upto one year ago I
was using a cream containing 2% hydroquinone. It reached a
time when my face just started darkening, whatever I use. I have
tried using Creams with AHA but this keeps darkening it even
more. I really don't know what to do. My face has become darker
than the rest of my body and I have tried all remedies of the book
but nothing seems to work. I started using creams containing
Hydroquinone since I was 14 years old and now I am 32. Kindly
advice me on what to do.
ANSWER: I am going to share how I research something. I know
nothing about this condition. So I went to my favorite and most
productive site, called Medline.com.

There I did a search for the term "hydroquinone" and found a
very easy to understand description. Plus it has all the cautions
and possible harmful effects. Now I go back to the question and
see if I can help a bit more.

Having done all this reading and rereading, I am now going to
go back to the reader and ask why she/he would be using this
type of cream for 18 years. There has to be a really good reason
why someone would use cream with these kinds of ingredients,
and 18 years later have no one to help with negative side effects.
My advice would be to go back to the pharmacist and start over,
writing down medical and pharmacological terms with which
to do your own research. I came across the name of a foundation,
which would be my number two stop for help and information.

There was little in the way of modern
conveniences in these villages. They neither had
them or knew of them. It is highly likely that if
such were offered unto these villagers they would
turn it down. There was a wisdom that seemed to
come from the very land these people worked. They
well knew the virtues of doing what they were good
at and leaving the rest of the world go by.
Life here was like life everywhere in earth.
People working at providing their basic
requirements of food, clothing and shelter. This
place, like every other place in earth, was
different only as geographical conditions
dictated. For example, in the intense heat of the
noon day sun the people did not go out much and
certainly didn't work. They could only work before
and after the heat of the day. That meant their
day was split into four, night, morning work
period, noon break (about 3 hours) then afternoon
work period.
In other parts of the world that order of life
did not exist, although as one goes around the
earth there were "bands" where similar habit
patterns existed within the band. As you proceeded
further north or further south from the equator
the temperatures cause different work and daily
living patterns.
Mae and Susan were musing over these thoughts.
It was wonderful how all peoples were a part of
each other. None were different, but appeared so
only because of the environment in which they
found themselves. In an effort to create control
certain religions caused certain behavior
patterns, governments caused some thinking to be
different and man's greed caused him to behave
differently in some geographical areas. Yet,
underneath all were children of their Maker, all
had the opportunity to learn higher law and all
had the opportunity to live thereby. In that all
men are created equal.
Thinking to herself Susan was wondering how it
was that people didn't come to understand that
there was a higher law. "You know Mae most people
don't even know there is such a thing as higher
law. Those in religious circles who do don't want
it taught and the rest of the world is too busy
with man's things."
"I know Sue, most understand there are
physical laws, for example if you touch a hot fire
you will get burnt. Some even understand there are
mental laws wherein "As a man thinketh all day
long, so shall he be." But there are few who
understand there are also higher spiritual laws by
which man can live. It is these higher laws that
cause us to be free and yet we can have anything
we want out of life."
They were walking along a dusty road as they
conversed. Coming up to a village they would be
looked at by those who lived there. Most often the
roads led right through the center of these
villages.
"If man could come to see there were laws
beyond his present scope and if he could see they
were not tied to any religion, but available to
men and women of all faiths you would think he
would want to strive for them." Susan was making
more observations.
"Yes, you would think so. Most men don't
because they continue to think of God or Allah as
a 'person' rather than a force. They fail to see
the laws as being guidelines by which we can live,
preferring instead to propel gross matter and
material goods to the forefront of their lives. It
takes those who are desirous of really learning
about their Maker to break the mold. Those are
the ones who are ridiculed in public, but sought
out in private when favors are needed."
Looking back as they walked Mae and Susan saw
a crowd of children following them. That was the
way in these small villages. Mae and Susan
broadcast love all about them, all the time. It
was not a conscious thing but now an entrenched
habit. Children picked this up real fast and
usually followed them wherever they went.
The two ladies stopped and the children
stopped as well. Mae motioned to them to come. The
children did.
Mae and Susan walked over to the side of the
road and sat down on a green grassy area. It was
saw grass, and pulled at their clothes.
The children came and sat down on the edge of
the road, facing the two ladies. As would often
happen Mae and Susan asked and answered questions
in the native tongue of the children. Often the
ladies would render one or two of them whole,
where there was an obvious deforming injury, and
always the children would go home feeling much
healthier from the meeting.

A husband and wife are getting ready for bed. The wife
is standing in front of a full-length mirror taking a hard
look at herself.
"You know, dear," she says, "I look in the mirror, and I
see an old woman. My face is all wrinkled, my boobs are
barely above my waist, and my butt is hanging out a mile.
I've got fat legs, and my arms are all flabby." She turns
to her husband and says, "Tell me something positive to
make me feel better about myself."
He studies hard for a moment thinking about it and then
says in a soft, thoughtful voice, "Well, there's nothing
wrong with your eyesight."
