While "Old Faithful" has become more popular because
it erupts more frequently and on a consistent schedule,
the largest active geyser in the world is the "Steamboat
Geyser" in Yellowstone Park's Norris Geyser Basin. It
erupts infrequently, but when it does, it can erupt to
more than 300 feet.
How does bulletproof glass stop bullets?
It's hard to imagine that glass can EVER be bulletproof. The
secret is that it isn't all glass. Sandwiched between two layers
of regular glass is a strong, see-through plastic - strong enough
to stop bullets. The "plastic," a polycarbonate laminate, is
made to spread the intense force of the bullet across the
entire window.
Is there such a thing as one-way bulletproof glass?
Yes. It protects the person behind it from being shot, while
allowing him to return fire. One side stops bullets, while the

Here's To Think On ...

My granddaughter and two of my daughters and I were
shopping at a very crowded local Mall one Saturday.
Though we were doing "back to school" shopping, I
saw a dress in a window display that I thought would
be lovely on one of my daughters, and proceeded to
tell her: "Oh Sweetie, look at this. This would be
darling on you."
Imagine my surprise and embarrassment ,when a
deep male voice replied: "Well hon, I really like the
color, but I don't think I can wear that style" Then he
smiled and went on his way.
My daughters were several feet behind me and I had
assumed they were the ones next to me. Now I make
sure whom I am speaking too, before I call
them "Sweetie"
Well, I don't know how many people float through their
days not fully aware of what is going on around them,
but its lots.
Ever get behind a driver who never looks in the rear
view mirror, or who indiscriminately changes lanes
without looking?
Think of the work those people do and how well
done it must be. Awareness is the number one
characteristic for successful growth, career advancement
and survival. Do not permit your mind to become
burdened by anything that will occupy your awareness
of who you are, where you are and what is going on
around you.
I know each of us slips once in a while, yet what I am
really getting at is that we are often given "messages"
from inside. If you are not aware of them you lose. They
can bring forth much benefit for you and should you
be preoccupied with other tasks you will miss them.
That is to say, nothing can replace your acute awareness
of your environment and what is going on. Too many
have learned that one split second of inattention can
cost even lives.
Awareness.

WONDERING ABOUT SYMPTOMS
YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN?
A "heads up" message from
a caring reader.

You undoubtedly hear and see commercials enticing you
to do this, be that, smell like this eat this or feel like this.
Primarily the advertising is designed to do one of two
things... help you avoid pain or move you toward pleasure.
And removing your pain always seems to be more
desirable. That pain is strong physically, but more
so emotionally. So on our health focus; gaining pleasure
is often overlooked in the search for eliminating pain.
But ultimately, are we not also seeking pleasure,
(health) a feeling of wellness: the state of happiness
and joy. It is for me and I suggest it is for you. So the
next question has to be "how do we find this state". If
we already felt satisfied, none of the above would be
an issue. Or maybe not...maybe we are looking for
more pleasure.
A few days ago, I received a very interesting, helpful,
and thought-provoking letter. This gentleman had been
experiencing symptoms that led him and his doctor to
consider the diagnosis of Menieres'. I'll let his email
speak for itself, but for obvious reasons, I am not going
to mention the product or the gentleman's name. But he
did give me permission to use the information. I think it's
important enough to use this in one of my Pebble columns.
He writes: "In a previous newsletter you dealt with 'triggers'
that brought on Meniere's attacks. I have discovered
another one! Being a Type II Diabetic for fifteen to 20 years
I recently (within the past 4 to 5 years) took on the added
problem of ED, 'Erectile Dysfunction. As soon as the
'ErectionAide' became available in Canada I got a prescription
and found 'new life' where it had all but disappeared.
Then, while having a friendly conversation with my druggist
about Méniere's (having just picked up a refill of 'ErectionAide')
he remarked that some of my problem might be right there in
my hand!!! That reminded me that some of my attacks had
certainly come the day following my use of 'ErectionAide'.
So I started to keep a record. Three times in a row, without fail,
'ErectionAide' was followed by a severe attack lasting from
3 hours to all day. Upon discovery of this link I stopped
using the 'ErectionAide'. No more severe attacks and only
one insignificant 'unsteady' spell that lasted an hour or so.
You will probably want to use this information, which is OK by
me as long as you don't use my real name."
Many of you know we have a very active Meniere's
website...so most of our discussions center around dizziness,
balance, or hearing challenges. Why would someone think
there could possibly be a connection. One site is a long way
from the other. But this is how we get people to think about
possible connections all the time.... connections: no matter how
removed from possibility or credibility they could be. And here
this gentleman's pharmacist made the possible connection.
I want to stress the word "possible" because not everyone has
these side effects, but if you do, then start looking at what you
are putting into your body... anywhere. And have these possible
side effects ever been mentioned before? Probably. And would
anyone want to know? Probably not!

took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.

"That poor soul is about to commit a crime.
Let's hope it is not murder." Sien began to send
love down unto the person they were speaking of.
The man continued on his task until he came to
the new convenience store downtown. Then he went
inside after putting on a mask. His intent was to
rob the store. This had happened many times to the
store so they had set up a policy of putting away
in a safe any money that exceeded $50. The young
man took that much at gunpoint. He was nervous and
jumpy. The clerk was experienced and did nothing
to cause the thief to do anything rash. The thief
took the cash and grabbed a big bottle of soft
drink on his way out.
Once outside he ran as fast as he could,
always looking over his shoulder. The clerk had
already triggered an alarm button and the police
were converging on the store from four different
directions. By arrangement over their car radios
they had determined which way the man was running.
Then they caused one car, siren blasting, to come
behind the man while three cars took up strategic
positions well on the opposite side.
In truth, the man would have been better off
just to walk calmly as if nothing was wrong, but
his guilt and fear kept him running right into the
arms of a waiting policeman. There was no scuffle
or any defense by the young man. He was taken so
completely by surprise he was defenseless. He was
going to pay for his actions.
The police drove him back to the convenience
store for a positive identification and then took
him to the police station.
"That young man now has two choices. He can
either straighten up or he will become the more
corrupt while in jail. It is clear he is too
emotional to even come close to thinking about his
Maker, and it is clear this young man will likely
have to come back many lifetimes before his Maker
can direct him to seek inside for answers. In fact
that is also true of the man who just lost his
job, and his wife as well." Sien was not
forecasting, predicting or passing judgment. He
was simply stating what he had seen over the
centuries from behavior like this.
"Man does not know we work on this plain.
Often we are able to aid someone along but only if
it results in a lesson learned at the soul level.
Success is of no value unless the one who succeeds
is aware how and why it came about. That is why a
truly successful person is also a humble one. They
know their success is rarely from their efforts
but came from within. They know that as does an
author who writes material about his Maker. Only
when these conditions are present can we aid one
in need. Don't forget while death might be
catastrophic for man in the general sense it is a
blessing unto the one who has died. Death holds
nothing to fear but to be embraced. As with you
who have learned higher law, you have overcome
death, otherwise death is present in man's world
until he, too, learns higher law."
"Look at that man. He sits patiently with his
wife, looking after her in her time of need. She
is ill now with a disease that man knows not how
to heal. Sooner rather than later she will die,
maybe not for years yet but earlier than she
should. He will stay with her unto the end and be
thoroughly alone when she goes. If only he could
spend time learning higher law, if only he could
keep emotion from getting in his way, if only he
could take his alone time and make it work for him
he would prosper in all ways. If he could do that
loneliness would not exist for him. He may well
become one of us. Can you keep an eye on him
Sien?"
"Yes, Mae. There are others like that and we
give them all the chances they need to see through
the veil of simplicity. I will watch."
Mae and Susan were both satisfied with that.
They knew, of course, that is how things worked.
In all the world of man he gives no credit to
the idea there are others watching over him. Oh,
he thinks angels are watching. He thinks those who
have died before him are watching, yet man has no
real idea of the order of things. His descent from
the garden was a function of greed and his ascent
back to the garden will be when he learns greed is
his enemy and that he must follow the law. Once he
sees that he is on the brink of a change in
direction. Following that he must now practise
that he may ascertain the truth for himself. In so
doing he quickly learns the laws his Maker has put
in place for all men. As progress is made man
shall learn to live by higher law. Such is the
law.

A golfer is in a competitive match with a friend, who is ahead
by a couple of strokes. The golfer says to himself, "I'd give
anything to sink this next putt."
A stranger walks up to him and whispers, "Would you give
up a fourth of your sex life?"
The golfer thinks the man is crazy and that his answer will
be meaningless but also that perhaps this is a good omen
and will put him in the right frame of mind to make the
difficult putt and says, "OK." And sinks the putt.
Two holes later he mumbles to himself, "Boy, if I could
only get an eagle on this hole."
The same stranger moves to his side and says, "Would it
be worth another fourth of your sex life?"
The golfer shrugs and says, "Sure." And he makes an
eagle.
Down to the final hole. The golfer needs yet another
eagle to win. Though he says nothing, the stranger
moves to his side and says, "Would you be willing to
give up the rest of your sex life to win this match?"
The golfer says, "Certainly." And makes the eagle.
As the golfer walks to the club house, the stranger
walks alongside and says,"You know, I've really not
been fair with you because you don't know who I am.
I'm the devil and from now on you will have no sex life."
"Nice to meet you," says the golfer. "My name's
Father O'Malley."
