TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

Has a tidal wave ever hit the US?

How often do tidal waves occur?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What does the name "Punxsutawney" mean?

The name "Punxsutawney" comes from the Indian name
for the location "ponksad-uteney," which means
"the town of the sandflies." Lovely.

What is a tsunami?

A tsunami, or tidal wave, is a huge wave caused by seismic
movements, or earthquakes, in the ocean. The waves can
reach heights of more than 100 feet, destroying whole
villages and thousands of people. Some historians believe
that a tidal wave destroyed the Minoan culture in Crete in
about 1450 BC. A 200-foot wave is believed to have
demolished the island.

qualifiers. I have decided I will not chase them.
thePEBBLE has been, is and will continue to be a
highly honorable publication dedicated to serving

cull it out of your mail, except for the odd word here
or there in an ad, or in a story or article. That is why
I have put thePEBBLE online, to serve those of you who
loyally follow the publication, especially The Saga Of
Pinehill.

I will continue to publish thePEBBLE daily and email
it to you. However, if your spam filter eats it, then you

Spam Laws & Their First Result: The Blackmail
by Adrian Ghioc

A guy from a certain country of the world enters in
an Internet Cafe, opens a free email account, get
a free autoresponder and then ... starts spamming
you. Every day you will receive his unsolicited
messages.

Can the spam laws protect you? No way! You will
never know who was that guy from the other side
of the world.

However, let's suppose you will lose your time and
find who the spammer is. But did you ever think that
the spam law you believed that is protecting you does
not apply to that guy? Well, you should know that what's
not legal in your country may be legal in other country
and vice-versa.

Then ... what kind of laws are these laws that do not protect
you? And why these laws produced an earthquake in
the whole world of the publishers?

Well ... unfortunately a few days ago I found out why!
Because these "laws" do not protect the good guys,
but the bad guys!!!

So far the spammers were hidden behind a free email
account used maybe only one time. Obviously you
had no "ammunition" to fight against them. OK, you
were able to filter that email address, but within one
minute the spammer obtained another free account.
So ... really no "ammunition".

A few months ago the new spam laws appeared on our
table and the spammers scored another victory! We
are afraid of these laws, but they don't. Some of them
are no longer hidden behind an anonymous email address.
Now they attack you and use these laws against you
using another weapon: the blackmail!

A few days ago, one of my "subscribers" suddenly
replied to the latest issue of my Ad Co-ops News
and warned me that he will report me as a spammer.
OK, I may understand that he forgot that he subscribed
to my ezine and he forgot he received it weekly during
the last months. I may also understand IF he would
warn me that he will report me if I will continue to
send him my ezine. But he didn't ask me to remove
him from my mailing list! You know what he wanted?

To join a program using his affiliate link
(a long advert was inserted in his message)
OTHERWISE he will report my email as spam!!!

Maybe you won't believe it, but the message was signed
and this guy provided also an alternative email address
(the back up address he provided when he signed up)
and a phone number (I wasn't so curious to spend my
money calling a spammer)!

Join spammers' programs or you will be punished!

Now the spammers attack in the daylight!

Take care!

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

I Wish Doctors Had More Time to Listen.
Then You Wouldn't Be Looking For Your
Own Solutions On The Internet. (How To
Use The Internet Knowledge And Still Keep
Your Doctor!)
PART 1 of 10

I spend a lot of my time helping people connect their
symptoms to possible causes...helping them to recognize
the normal and the abnormal body responses . . . helping
them understand how the disease process creates newer
and different signs and symptoms. I'll just refresh your
memory about signs and symptoms. A SIGN is something
that has to do with the senses. It would have to do with
touch, sight, smell, hearing, and taste. Most commonly it
has to do with sight: hence the term "sign". These are
things we could all find if we knew where to look. These
are objective, meaning they are straight facts. A broken
bone is a sign. Bright red blood is a sign. A certain odor
in a diabetic's breath is a sign. These are things an outsider
would recognize. A SYMPTOM is an opinion, an
interpretation. It is seen to be "subjective". It's your
description of something you hear, feel, or see that no
one else can. A trained medical professional can
immediately start a critical thinking process.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------

To Eloise life was beautiful. She had not the
adventurous life she had years earlier that
allowed her to come live in this village on the
Amazon river. Yet she was happy and very pleased
to be here. She and her husband Mazunta were
settled in very well and now had two children who
were growing faster than she cared for. Eloise
liked babies, but both her children were now well
past that stage. She missed that.

Eloise and Mazunta had made the decision to
have only two children. They could have had lots,
and had no difficulty supporting them but they saw
no point in populating the world.

The kids, AliAnne and Sammy were now three and
two, respectively and they were always away
playing with the other kids in the village. That
left Eloise with a lot of time. However, as
Mazunta was the head man for the village that
meant she had certain duties as the wife of the
head man of the village. She was always occupied
with the women of the community setting up public
events, welcome parties, pre-wedding ceremonials,
birth celebrations and all manner of thing for
which the women came to her.

Living by higher law also gave her some
authority over the women. It was not of her desire
but the combination of enormous respect the
village had for her plus being the wife of
Mazunta, the women simply treated her that way and
she could do nothing about it. She wished it were
not so but realized that was her lot in life and
she carried it well.

This day her folks, Sam and Alewka Henry had
come down to visit. They were here for no reason
than just that. Sam and Alewka had not seen the
grandchildren for a very long time and that was
their chief motivation. Of course Eloise held a
very special place in the heart of her Father.

Eloise, Sam and Alewka walked down to the
beach to watch the kids. The grandchildren were
there playing away as were the older kids in the
village. AliAnne and Sammy were much too young to
play in the ball game the older kids played but
the beach was so large and so sandy there was no
difficulty finding things to do. There were many
small children playing in the sand, so they were
not alone.

Today it was a hot one. There were no signs of
clouds in the air and it was clear for as far as
the eye could see in all directions. Eloise and
others in this village who lived by higher law
ensured the kids were not over exposed to the
effects of the sun or heat. Nonetheless they were
all having fun.

The small group joined a few other adults who
were sitting there just watching the kids. Pamela
Wiley was one of them. "Hello Pam. How are you
doing?" Sam was always the first to extend his
hand in welcome and in greeting.

"Hello Mr. Henry. I'm fine and how are you? We
haven't seen you two down here for quite some
time."

"I know, too long. We missed our grandchildren
and had to come visit. Where is David?"

"David is with Mazunta and others from the
village. They went into the trading town for the
usual spring trading trip. They should be back
soon, maybe even today."

"That would be nice. It would be nice to see
David again. How is he doing? And the kids?"

"We are all fine Mr. Henry. The kids are down
there in the corner playing with your
grandchildren."

"I thought that was them. They grow so fast I
cannot clearly remember them from one trip to the
next. Every time I see them they have changed a
lot. Living in this village is good for them."

"It sure is. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I wish I had an environment like this to grow up
in."

"We are all called to a purpose Pam. That is
why you grew up where you did. All is well."

"I know.

"Something tells me the boys are but a few
hours away."

"You sent a message to them didn't you. I was
just going to wait and see. That 's good. We can
all keep our eye down river for the first sight of
the canoes. I'm glad you're here Mr. Henry. It is
very nice to see you."

The rest of the conversation was more niceties
exchanged between the three women, Eloise, Alewka
and Pam. Sam just sat and enjoyed the sun and the
wonderful scenery the area offered. The noise from
the kids would once in a while capture his
attention but for the most part Sam was in a
reverie of thankfulness.

One of the kids hollered "There they are!" It
was like the shot that rang around the world. The
whole village heard it and within minutes the
entire village was standing on the river shore.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

"If you would be rich, you will be rich; if you would be good,
you will be good; if you would be learned, you will be
learned. But wish for one thing exclusively, and don't at
the same time wish for a hundred other incompatible
things just as strongly."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

Twas the night before Christmas, In Texas you know,
Way out on the prairie, without any snow.

Asleep in their cabin, were Buddy and Sue,
A dreaming of Christmas, like me and like you.

Not stockings but boots, at the foot of their beds,
For this was Texas, What more need be said?

When all of a sudden from out the still night,
There came such a ruckus, it gave me a fright!

And I saw cross the prairie, like the shot from a gun,
A loaded up buckboard, Come on at a run.

The driver was "whistling" and "shouting" with a will,
The "Horses" (not reindeer) he drove with such skill.

"Come on there Buck, Poncho, and Prince, to the right"
There'll be plenty of travelin' for you-all tonight..

The driver in his Levis, and a shirt that was red,
Had a 10 gallon Stetson on the top of his head.

As he stepped from the buckboard, he was really a sight,
with his beard so curly and white.

As he burst in the cabin, the children awoke,
And both so astonished, that neither one spoke.

And he filled up their boots with such presents galore,
That neither could think of a single thing more.

When Buddy recovered the use of his jaws,
He asked in a whisper "Are you really Santa Claus?"

"Am I the real Santa? Well, what do you think?
And he smiled as he gave his mysterious wink.

Then he left in his buckboard, and called back in a drawl,
TO ALL CHILDREN OF TEXAS-
MERRY CHRISTMAS YEE HAW!
