the characters. Read as if you hope that what is said
can truly be your world. It will change your life.

Is it true that Botox paralyzes the muscles of the face?
Is it true that Botox is so popular now that people are
having "Botox" parties?

What company issued the first car insurance?
Travelers Insurance issued the first car insurance policy on
February 1, 1898. Included was coverage for colliding with a
horse-drawn carriage.
Is Botox, the substance people are having injected into
their foreheads to smooth wrinkles, really a deadly poison?
Yes. Botox is botulinum toxin type A, a potentially lethal
neurotoxin. Botulinum is the toxic byproduct of Clostridium
botulinum, a naturally occurring bacterium that sometimes
contaminates canned food that has been improperly processed.
If a large dose of the toxin is consumed along with live
bacilli, the person who consumed it can die. But the Botox
people are having injected for cosmetic reasons is a
purified version that has been extremely diluted. It is safe
in small doses.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------
Mistakes Are Supposed To Happen!
On the first day of college, the Dean addressed the
students, pointing out some of the rules.
"The female dormitory will be out-of-bounds for all male
students, and the male dormitory to the female students.
Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the
first time."
He continued, "Anybody caught breaking this rule the second
time will be fined $60. Being caught a third time will
incur a hefty fine of $180. Are there any questions?"
At this point, a male student in the crowd inquired:
"How much for a season pass?"
While I am sure the Dean did not intend the "perception" of
what he was saying to be as the student seemed to grasp, he
made the mistake of making his point in a way that was easy
for the student to think that way. It was a mistake.
We all make them. In fact we are supposed to make them. The
real truth of the matter is we would never in a zillion
years be successful if we did not make mistakes.
All of life is move forward, adjust course, move forward,
adjust again, move forward again. Many of the adjustments
along the way are sponsored by the mistakes we make.
Mistakes are nothing to be ashamed of. A mistake is simply a
mistake and has no emotional overtones to cause you
embarrassment or other poor feelings, unless, of course, you
allow it.
Embrace mistakes. Make them yours. Understand the lessons
they offer. Be exceedingly happy you are making mistakes,
for it is a truth that for every one you make you are simply
one step closer to the success you want.
A friend of mine runs a car dealership. When he is hiring
people he goes looking for the mistakes, the trouble in
their lives. His philosophy is that if a man isn't making
mistakes he isn't doing anything. If he isn't doing anything
my friend does not want him on staff. My friend wants
action. My friend wants people moving forward. He is well
aware that if someone is not making mistakes he isn't moving
forward.
The fact is neither are you or I. If we aren't making
mistakes we aren't going anywhere.
A positive way to look at it is that mistakes make you
money. Go for it - move forward, make mistakes, adjust, and
move forward some more. The process can make you wealthy.

The Brain And Spinal Cord
Parts Of Your Body's Nervous System
Part 6 of 6
If you have a car, diving, or motorcycle accident and the
brainstem is damaged, the results will be show in the body as
well, but very unexpectedly: again depending on the nerves
affected. And as the brainstem controls such things as heart
rate and respiration, you can imagine the results from massive
damage. Can you see then that different amounts (severity) and
the location of this damage will result in different symptoms
and body parts affected? For instance, many diving accidents
result in neck (cervical) injuries. Chances are you are going
headfirst into a solid (unexpected) object under the water. It
stops you. That stop will be sudden and probably very damaging.
Neither your skull nor your neck can absorb the power of such a
jolt. And often the same thing happens in a motorcycle accident.
You hit an immovable object. The bike stops immediately. But you
continue to be propelled until gravity pulls you to the ground.
And if your head is the first part of the body to hit the
ground, again, the neck and brain can't absorb the shock. It
results in an automatic "interruption". This happens because
that particular area of your body can't fulfill its function.
Somehow the messages have been blocked or disconnected. If the
impulse or response doesn't get to the required area, for
instance your lungs, they wouldn't be expanding or contracting,
leaving you without any breathing mechanism. Just as you have to
have physical connections like connective tissue, the nerves
need to have continuous connections. Otherwise it will result in
"an interruption of service." (Can you imagine the dilemma that
paramedics have at the scene of an accident? They need to
stabilize the neck, but what about CPR?)
Nature coddles the spinal cord in other ways. Just as it
provides thick bone as the skull, it provides chunks of bone as
vertebrae. It provides more fluid to soften and moisten all the
inside passageways. And provides 3 more layers of "meninges" or
membranes. (Sometimes these may get a bacterial infection called
meningitis.) The spinal cord is not very large in diameter
approximately 1 centimeter in diameter and 42 to 45 cm in length
and this contributes to holding up a major part of your all day
long! So you can now see that even the tiniest cell plays a very
important part of keeping you alive and healthy. Every tiny
component of the body has a specific task, as we have already
stated. But here is it very apparent just how tiny this could
be.
Now you should have a different understanding when you wiggle
your big toe. Be grateful! Now you know that your mind sent a
message to your brain, telling it you wanted to wiggle your big
toe. And your well-functioning brain and spinal cord responded
by wiggling your big toe. That's a miracle! But not so for the
unfortunate person who has had an "interruption" in their
nervous system "processing machinery". So when you hear someone
has had a car, motorcycle, or diving accident and is on "life
support", you will now have a different understanding. They
might have had a brainstem injury. And although this sounds very
serious, it doesn't necessarily have to be a permanent injury.
Thankfully science is helping us develop ways to "wiggle the
toe" of that person who up till now, hasn't been able to.
Luckily for us, we live in an age where science is now showing
us a way to regenerate the blocks and also repair the damage.
What was permanent in the past is no longer necessarily so.
Treasure and respect your brain and spinal cord. The
alternatives are completely undesirable!

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure

It is both amazing and wonderful how folks with things
in common drift together.
Amenti and Reno were seen as supervisory personnel at
the orphanage. Now, suddenly, they were in the same
condition as Tom and Tlang.
The couples got together and bonded quickly and
securely. They had so many things in common that were never
brought out or seen before. Now they were in love and that
meant, for the most part, the rest of the world could go its
own way.
There were age differences, to be sure, yet, when you
are under thirty a difference of eight years doesn't even
show. Tlang, now, was 18 and Amenti, the oldest was 26. Tom
and Reno were in between those years.
It was so clear Tom was right for Tlang and Amenti was
so right for Reno no one in earth objected to their
respective relationships.
"You know, I think Billy has fallen too!" Tom was
beginning to tune in to his friend.
"Maybe we should go find him and see."
"We won't have to search far, Amenti. I know where he
is."
"Good, let's all go see."
Billy and Sonora were once more down on the plain. This
was becoming a common event with them. They liked to be
alone so they could talk, plan and love one another. Such is
the way with lovers.
Suddenly, right in front of them stood four people. "Hey
you guys! What are you doing here?"
"Billy we knew you were in trouble. We knew you were in
the clutches of a woman and we wanted to come here to save
you." Tom was a tease, like all the Henrys.
They all laughed.
"We just thought we all had so much in common we might
want to spend the day together." Reno was being much more
reasonable.
Arm in arm the couples walked along the plain.
"Boy, this is beautiful. I've never seen anything like
it. Look at all the animals. I've never seen so many."
"This happens twice a year here, Amenti. The animals
follow the food and pass by here twice a year in season."
"And do the lions follow, Sonora?"
"Only to a point. They do not go the whole route. There
are other predators all along the route. These herds feed
many."
"Maybe thats why there are so many animals. Survival of
the species so to speak."
"I'm sure, Amenti, that is part of it."
"Are you guys having trouble with sex, like we are?"
Sonora was direct if nothing else.
"Yes, came the answer in unison from all four visitors."
Reno spoke for all of them. "We don't want to go too far
until we are properly wed. The business of controlling our
temptation until we are publicly united by some sort of
ceremony might sound foolish to some but it really has
nothing to do with sex. It has more to do with controlling
our emotions, desires, minds and bodies, that we may the
better enjoy higher law.
"That's the trouble we've been facing, too. We want each
other so bad it's awful. Maybe it's nice, too, but it's
tough."
"It is for us, too, Sonora. We all want to have our
mates and sometimes we get to where we aren't sure we can
stop. It hurts to stop. Yet we have found the line and we
have not yet crossed it." Tlang, the youngest of all seemed
to be the more mature. Much of that maturity came from her
early childhood where she was used as a sex slave. She knew
what men were capable of. She had worked long and hard to
rid herself of the stigma that went along with that early
childhood training. Now she was free, and had no such
inkling that Tom would in any way abuse her. She felt
completely free within the relationship to be who she wanted
to be. Because of that she wanted Tom with her whole body
and when they got together in private she let him know.
Reno and Amenti were the same yet each was a little more
reserved. Working at the orphanage they felt they had to
"perform" their duties first before they went off together.
They felt they had an image they had to project for the
youngsters under their care. Certainly that was true to a
degree. However, all those youngsters were now living by
higher law and would no longer remain. They would go out to
see the world and to do the work. They had all matured when
they crossed the veil of simplicity. So Amenti's and Reno's
example was no longer as powerful and effective as it once
was. Nonetheless, they maintained their dignity and their
duties in the presence of the kids. Only after their work
day did they slip away to be alone together.
Tom and Tlang were different. They were younger and had
no duties. They would openly kiss and hug one another. They
did everything together and they went everywhere together.
Yet they did not become involved in "private" lovemaking in
front of anyone.
Here, on the Serengeti, they were with friends who all
had the same circumstances and difficulties. They were
sharing with each other and somehow it made the condition
easier. Each had an understanding of the other's plight, a
deep and personal understanding. It brought them together
and caused them to laugh and play together.

Umpire: Where does the word "umpire" come from?
From the Old French word nompair, meaning "not paired". The

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
The successful people are the ones who can think up
stuff for the rest of the world to keep busy at.
Don Marquis (1878-1937)
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in
Africa, taking her faithful aged poodle named Cuddles along
for company.
One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies, and before
long, Cuddles discovers that she's lost. Wandering about,
she notices a leopard heading rapidly in her direction with
the intention of having lunch.
The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep trouble now!"
Noticing some bones on the ground close by, she immediately
settles down to chew on the bones with her back to the
approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the
old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious
leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?"
Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in
mid-strike. A look of terror comes over him and he slinks
away into the trees. "Whew!" says the leopard. "That was
close! That old poodle nearly had me!"
Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene
from a nearby tree figures he can put this knowledge to good
use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he
goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard
with great speed and figures that something must be up. The
monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans,
and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.
The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and
says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to
happen to that conniving canine!"
Now, the old poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey
on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?" but
instead of running, the dog sits down with her back to her
attackers, pretending she hasn't seen them yet. Just when
they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says: "Where's
that monkey? I can never trust him. I sent him off an hour
ago to bring me another leopard, and he's still not back!"
