A typical, obviously American, community. Two young people
given an opportunity for an a adventure with an attainable
financial reward. Their adventure into the inkonwn, not
restrained by dogmatic rules or community restraints, leads
them to resources that change no only the two adventurers'
attitudes, but attitudes of others.

The reader will either come away with a a feeling of
wonderment or question the writer's declared source, his
Maker, for the content.

I was not envious of the characters' adventures but enjoyed
the book as it refreshed the wonderment I had as a youth and
now as a practical adult, to "think outside the box" about
powers that are within us.

Jerry Harlton was an executive assistant to the Right
Honourable Joe Clark, the former Prime Minister of Canada

It took me back to my youth and now inspires me to "think
outside the box".

Is it true that Botox paralyzes the muscles of the face?

That's how it works. Botulinum is a paralytic. It
temporarily paralyzes muscles into relaxation by interfering
with the action of acetylcholine, which transmits nerve
impulses to the muscles. Botox is great for smoothing out
frown lines between the eyebrows, crow's feet at the corners
of the eye, and bands of wrinkles across the forehead. But
too much Botox can cause a masklike expression or drooping
eyelid. When used around the mouth, too much can even cause
drooling. Even when used correctly, Botox freezes the
forehead and makes it impossible to frown. That's
particularly bad for actors and those who need to show
intense emotion. Fortunately, though, the effects of Botox
are temporary. Injections need to be repeated every three or
four months. If a mistake is made, it will eventually
disappear.

Is it true that Botox is so popular now that people are
having "Botox" parties?

Apparently so. In-home "Botox" parties, where a doctor shows
up to deliver Botox injections to a whole houseful of eager
customers, are becoming more common. They may become even
more popular now that the FDA has approved Botox for use "to
temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe
frown lines between the eyebrows." (Botox has been approved
for other uses for years, and doctors have always been able
to legally use it for frown lines, but the new approval will
no doubt boost its popularity.)

Life May Finally Be Snapping Back to Life
Media Life

A year after relaunching as a weekend newspaper supplement,
and amid much industry buzz centered on its perceived
lifelessness, especially on the ad side, Time Inc.'s Life
magazine is finally showing some improved vital signs. The
book "may finally be catching on," observes Media Life, the
online site. "The magazine has secured more than 30
advertisers who have never before appeared in weekend
supplements, and it projects ad pages for the fourth quarter
will be up 40 percent over the 2004 period." Some of the
magazine's higher-end advertisers--Pontiac, Charles Schwab,
and American Express--do not book space in Life's main
competitors, Parade and USA Today. A full-page ad in Life
costs $310,000. While the book is beginning to gain some
traction, Media Life predicts that "Life still has way far
to go before it can be thought of as even a limited success.
Media people say it will be at least another year before
it's clear whether its upward trend in ad pages will
continue."

E-mail Marketing Alive, Well, And Growing

Marketers who think e-mail is an endangered species as an
effective communications tool should think again. Stefan
Tornquist, Research Director for MarketingSherpa, says quite
the opposite is true and that consumers' interest in
receiving e-mail newsletters and sales alerts is growing at
a healthy rate, according to new findings. On average, lists
are growing by 5.2 percent per month, and with an average
attrition rate of about 2 percent per month, that leaves an
aggregate growth of about 3.2 percent per month, or 40
percent per year. Although open rates have dropped by about
20 percent in the past year, Tornquist says that is probably
a function of mismeasurement rather than a real decline in
people reading e-mail. "Looking at both clicks and
conversions, there are improvements in some areas and drops
in others; overall they're stable," he says. That suggests
that opens aren't getting recorded. Tornquist also offers
four important tips on how marketers can ensure their e-mail
campaigns get the best response possible.

Cold Feet and a Warm But Tired Out Heart
Trying to live a quality lifestyle when things
are falling down around you.
PART 1 of 2

Who would ever think a pair of sox and a crew neck
sweater could make a difference in someone's life.
Add a power bar, a hug, a "to do" list, and a smile, and
I witnessed an amazing transformation!

Recently I held a wellness clinic, which offered free glucose
measurements to the public. We do these routinely and it's a
great way to find people who may be on the way to having
diabetes. It's also really good opportunity to do some basic
health teaching on any topic. We do lots of blood pressure
measurements, answer questions, and teach people many things,
including stress, exercise, hypertension, and nutrition. It's a
chance to make contact with the general public who really doesn'
t go to visit a doctor very often.

These clinics are held in department stores and their pharmacies.
We are all registered nurses with an interest in helping
people stay well and out of our very limited health resources.
No clinic ever has just one focus. People see my blood pressure
cuff and they want to compare readings or ask a health-related
question or just chat. If I am ever without someone to talk to,
I fold my blood pressure cuff and adjust my stethoscope and
I'm busy again. (I hide my BP equipment till I'm ready!)

This recent clinic was the same.busy with all sorts of questions,
but I had been placed a bit out of the regular path for prescription
filling and cashier's desk. And that was good because I "found"
people who wouldn't be going to a pharmacist, but were
"just shopping". I was well into doing the testing when a very
tired looking gentleman came along. He stopped like most
people do and watched. But out of the corner of my eye, I
could see him leaning against the somewhat fragile shelves.
There he would shiver every once in a while. He didn't appear
much different than any of the others, but somehow I sensed he
needed my attention more than they did. I always have the right
to choose who is next. It's like triaging.you assess the situation
and make a professional judgement. I chose to check him next.

He had just returned from his doctors' office and didn't need a blood
pressure check.and he wasn't diabetic. (His uncle had died of it
and he sure didn't want that added to his problems!) And he
didn't want a glucose measurement test. So what did I feel he
needed? My gut feeling was that he just needed someone to talk
to and just give him a few minutes of caring.

I learned his mother had died the past week. And one of his
best friends and also a cousin had passed away the same week.
His wife was in the hospital and wouldn't be coming back home
because he couldn't care for her adequately. His family was far
away, but, yes, he had friends.although he didn't want to bother
them.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

The day was a hot one. Here, on the Serengeti one could
burn fast and easy, and the heat was almost debilitating.
The group, individually, set up environment envelopes around
themselves to protect themselves from these conditions.

They sat under a large acacia tree, seeking what shade
they could find.

"I have not before experienced such strong emotions.
This love I have for Sonora and hers for me is powerful, yet
I am not so drawn to you Tlang, or you Reno, no offense
girls. I wonder just what it is that brings us together? It
seems to me to be much more than a chemical or lustful
attraction. It sets up the possibility of spending a
lifetime together through good times and bad. It has to be
more than a sexual attraction."

"I am not exactly sure what it is, Billy. But you are
right, it seems we are drawn to one mate, very deeply, and
it seems to go beyond sex. I can be drawn to others in a
sexual way, but not like this. Its wonderful and there is so
much more than sex in the relationship. There is fun,
friendship, caring, wanting to be together." Reno was
responding to Billy's meanderings.

"Clearly there has to be a spiritual component to this
love thing. Sure we have strong human emotions and yes, lust
is involved, but that hidden element, that part of it that
makes people want to be together beyond sex, that has to
have a spiritual foundation." Billy was continuing his
investigation.

"Maybe, Billy, that is what folks try to explain when
they say "soul mates". Maybe it is a union of spirit first
then of mind and body. Maybe that is why man should respect
it more than he does, because these relationships may well
be of our Maker's doing, and are with purpose as are all
things. Maybe man's ego is a huge hinderance to the orderly
and harmonious process these things are to be."

"Amenti, I think you're right. One thing is sure, there
is far more to this relationship than I ever imagined. It
makes me feel whole, more complete than I have ever felt
before. I think Sonora feels the same way and I am sure you
guys think the same way. It is not that I was not complete
before. Life was fine. But now I have this relationship I no
longer want to be alone. I want to be with Sonora all the
time. When I look at Mom and Dad Henry and when I look at
Sonora's Mom and Dad, I see this same thing. I don't see the
lust thing but I see an honor, a love, a respect and
togetherness I am just now finding out about. I have a huge
respect for those people and I think that is not only
because of the self respect each has but the respect each
has for the other. If I want Sonora and I to be anything it
is to be like those two couples. They still love each other
and it shows, even after all these years."

"That, Billy, is where you, Tom and Sonora are
fortunate. You have each come from an environment where
those examples were held out to you. That is not quite the
way it was for the rest of us."

"Tlang, I know where you are coming from and you are
right, of course. Yet I want you to look at the steady,
loving, stable examples you do have in front of you. Not
only do you have Riata, but May, Sue and soon, if not now,
the Henrys. And you, Amenti and Reno, what about Riata's
folks. Spend some time with them, watch them, get to enjoy
them and observe their example. What I have here, now, with
Sonora, I want to keep and nurture. I think the same is true
of you guys. Get to be with those you most want to emulate
and let some of that longevity and respect rub off on you. I
sense there is much reward in working to that end. I think
all of us will have good times and hard times, although with
higher law we should well be able to avoid hard times.
Following such examples as those I have mentioned will serve
us well. By the way, maybe we should even be careful of
higher law. We are all able to have nothing but good times
all the time. We must never permit our ego to become
dissatisfied with that. We must work to keeping the law
alive."

"Billy might have a point there. Living by higher law we
should experience nothing but good times. That in itself
could prove to be a hard time unless we are careful to
protect our thinking against human dissatisfaction and ego
driven emotions. That is an interesting point, subtle but
interesting." Tlang was one of the first to catch on to the
idea that having sunshiny days all the time soon had one
becoming lethargic and dissatisfied. One needs rain and wind
once in a while so one can truly appreciate the sunshine.

The couples frittered away the day in conversation. They
covered nearly all the topics that were of interest to young
lovers. Living by higher law also brings with it an honesty
and openness permitting them to speak of things that are
even intimate. It was refreshing to share things that were
taboo in other circles.

"How about heading home. I'm sure Mom and Dad have
already had supper. By the time we get there they will be
building a fire for the evening and I always like sitting
around the fire at night."

Sonora got no objection to that. All these couples were
used to sitting around a fire at night. Somehow that was a
ritual so thoroughly embedded into their days they missed it
if there was no fire. That, too, had a way of cementing
relationships. In some way it helped break down bad feelings
and allowed folks to see one another.

They each caused themselves to eat on a chunk of dried
meat, as they walked. By the time they arrived back at
Sonora's they were no longer hungry.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Uncle: Whey do we call a pawnbroker "uncle"?

As a humorous pun on the Latin word uncus, meaning "Hook".
At one time pledges of clothing were hung on a hook or uncus
in the pawnbrokers shop; his shop was there fore called
uncus - and it's but a short step from that to "uncle's".

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

"You cannot succeed by yourself. It's hard to find a
rich hermit." -- Jim Rohn

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

A rich man went to his vicar and said, "I want you and your
wife to take a three-month trip to the Holy Land at my
expense. When you come back, I'll have a surprise for you".
The vicar accepted the offer, and he and his wife went off
to the Middle East.

Three months later they returned home and were met by the
wealthy parishioner, who told them that while they were
gone, he had had a new church built. "It's the finest
building money can buy, vicar," said the man. "No expense
was spared." And he was right. It was a magnificent edifice
both outside and in.

But there was one striking difference. There was only one
pew, and it was at the very back. "A church with only one
pew?" asked the vicar.

"You just wait until Sunday," the rich man said.

When the time came for the Sunday service, the early
arrivals entered the church, filed onto the one pew and sat
down. When the pew was full, a switch clicked silently, a
circuit closed, the gears meshed, a belt moved and,
automatically, the rear pew began to move forward. When it
reached the front of the church, it came to a stop. At the
same time, another empty pew came up from below at the back
and more people sat down. And so it continued, pews filling
and moving forwards until finally the church was full, from
front to back.

"Wonderful!" said the vicar, "Marvelous!"

The service began, and the vicar started to preach his
sermon. He launched into his text and, when 12 o'clock
came, he was still going strong, with no end in sight.
Suddenly a bell rang, and a trap door in the floor behind
the pulpit dropped open.

"Wonderful!" said the congregation, "Marvelous!"
